(Q) best tmobile rom - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Anyone know the best kernel, rom and modem to have for tmobile on the 317. I already am running cr 4.9 and saberkern on it.

I understood you I guess I posted this the wrong way I was just wanting to know who had what rom that works best with tmobile on the i317.

Imo you're already running the best rom/kernel. If you don't think it's awesome then try something else.

On the same topic, can I get T-Mobile 4G on my 317? I didn't realize there might be a difference when I bought it. I haven't received my SIM yet, so can't test it. If I can't get 4G though, I'm going to have to sell this one and get a T-Mobile branded device.

I do think it is awsome. I was trying to get everyones opinion.

Mach you can enable aws on the 317 to get tmobile bands which will enable you to get 3g and 4g

Is there a way to unlock this setting?
Search the forums. There's a way around it.

Golly thanks. Never would have thought of that. Any clues on which forums to search? The ATT forums pulled up nothing for me.
No way I've found around it.. don't know what he is talking about.

Search "GSLEON APN Unlock" in AT&T Development. I'd post a link if I wasn't on my phone.
Edit: Scratch that. Can't find it in there anymore. I'll see if I can dig it up.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Anyway if that is what you are talking about adding an non lte apn can be done but that is nit the same thing as unlocking it enabling manual network selection.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Is it something in the SIM that locks it?
i would greatly appreciate if someone found it!
What are you guys trying to do with this? When I go through it seems to be unlocked I can choose att and T-Mobile and I'm on att network
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
Where did you get the phone? I'm guessing from your sig you are rooted and running a non-ATT rom?
if you are talking to me i got my phone from att and i am using my att rom

Is that all it takes? Coolio. What is the best way to unlock? Also, I'm not worried about LTE vs 4G , just carrier selection.
oh im not unlocked either phone is just rooted running my rom
Would unlocking get carrier selection working?
I'm not sure I have carrier selection and I'm not unlocked

Just rub a little salt in the wound why doncha... lol. That is where I wanna be. I get into areas where the ATT signal is weak but present, and the phone will go on a roaming network. If I reboot it comes back up on ATT. Might have to go the root/rom route. Unless unlocking will get me there...

How would I flash an att ROM for my tmo gs3

So the title says it all, I have a T-Mobile gs3 that is unlocked running on Att. How do I go about flashing att Roms to this phone, I've read many places its possible and I've never been steered wrong by xda so help me out?
Rob

You really don't need to. Its the same thing. Just keep a tmo ROM on. It will still work. If anything flash a radio. I know on galaxy s 2 radios are compatible. Not sure about the s3 since the att version has lte.

[Q] Flashing a T-Mobile Rom?

I have he ATT Samsung note 2 i-317. I want to know if it would be bad if I wanted to flash the T-Mobile Miui Rom. I wouldn't care if I couldn't use LTE since I rarely use it. Would anything go bad if I flashed the rom?

As long as its for the T-Mobile note2 you should be fine. Fine as in it shouldn't brick you. You may have to adjust APN or maybe even flash a att note2 aosp kernel to get things working right. Let us know how it goes

That one has a little bit of problems. The T-Mobile miui is said to not have those problems. I tried the AT&T one already :/

T-Mobile working on at&t s3

So as the title states I need some help. I'm trying to get a phone and its an unlocked at&t s3 and I'm trying to figure out if it will work well on our T-Mobile carrier. Will I get 4g can I get SMS? Any help?
Sent from my One S using xda app-developers app
Yes, I'm using one right now and I get "4g" and 4g LTE as well.. "4g" might not have as good coverage depending on your area because it will use the 1900 frequency T-Mobile has recently started to roll out instead of the 1700 that T-Mobile mainly has for 3g/hspa.. But LTE will work just fine, and it is fast! heck you will even get WiFi calling as long as you flash a T-Mobile based ROM

Can't you just flash a T-Mobile baseband? And also if it'd and at&t phone how can you flash a T-Mobile s3 ROM?
Sent from my One S using xda app-developers app
No do NOT flash a T-Mobile baseband.. Only stick with at&t basebands or bootloaders.. The only thing you can safely flash is Roms and kernels.. You can flash roms through recovery and most should work just fine.. And BTW there actually is a mod on the at&t thread to enable the 1700 aws, but the mod wipes after a reboot and you must do it every time you reboot.. It doesn't sound that bad, so you might want to try it out if you end up getting it and have bad or no 3g/h with 1900 in your area

So I can flash a T-Mobile s3 room

Yes as he said you can flash roms and kernels nothing else.
And dont be confused and think a rom is equivalent to firmware. Its not.

Well I know that I was just a little confused as to the way he worded it. So I've tried reading over their some but so far all I've come up with are old threads where people were trying to get 3g to work. Supposedly its permanent any idea how I can tell what frequency my location runs on
Sent from my One S using xda app-developers app
I'm pretty sure there is. I think it may be a dialer code that you can use to go in and test to find out. Cant remember for sure, but thought I'd mention it in case it helps someone else answer or helps your search.
If you aren't able to find anything ill try to remember to look later tonight.

But doesn't the article say that they're moving 3g to 1900 and then 1700 will be for HSDPA+ and 2100 will be for lte

My bad, you were right. I had things a bit mixed up I guess!
Sorry for the confusion.

Though, they will only be able to offer hspa+42 on the aws spectrum I believe. And it'll only account for a small portion in the end.

these are the two threads i was able to find about it

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771021
the first one is the newest method and the one that won't stick after reboots.. the second one will downgrade the phone to ics, and people are saying that flashing a t999 recovery and then a tmo jb rom will still keep 1700 enabled but i haven't tried any of them
Well you guys thanks for the help. Now I just have to actually find a new phone

Terrible service on unlocked 4.1.1

Phone is originally att and I unlocked it by flashing 4.1.1. I hardly ever get service in my work building. And service switches from e to 4g way to much. And I miss calls all.the time. Like ill have service but phone will not ring. What can I do to fix this. I love the phone but its impossible to use for original purpose

You sure you have signal service with any ATT phone at your work place?.
At my work place i had to switch to Plane mode because it was no to 1 bar service which can't make/receive any phone calls and it happened to all ATT coworkers phone.
Yes im on tmobile. But my nexus 4 would have excellent service here. Not really good data. But phone reception yes

Did you flash the AWS mod (I believe thats what its called). It should allow your phone to use another radio band used by tmobile.

You know you can upgrade your modem to see if your reception will improve? As it should with a newer modem release...
