Hi guys,
Got my Korean LTE (SHV-E250s) yesterday and thought I'd root it so I can install a new English OS on it (Cleanrom Ace 4.5).
I followed Chainfire's thread on how to root my phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933542).
So, first I downloaded Odin3 v1.85 and CF-Auto-Root-t0lteskt-t0lteskt-shve250s.zip.
Extracted both and managed to install CF Auto Root with SuperSU v1.05.
Sweet, everything was going well.
Then I found Cleanrom Ace 4.5 and its thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055170).
So I installed Goomio from the play store and downloaded the current version of "twrp".
Now, here is where I stuffed up bad because I didn't make a backup.
I copied the zip file of Cleanrom Ace 4.5 onto my micro SD as well as the internal storage.
I booted the phone into twrp and went to factory wipe and reset. I got a little bit worried here because this is where things go wrong.
I went ahead and did it, rebooted to twrp again and installed Cleanrom Ace 4.5.
I got to the options and it was looking hopeful. Chose stock or custom animations to boot up, apps to install, etc.
Then it went to installation screen showing the progress and it stayed on 0.0% when it was trying to install the boot up animations.
After about 2 minutes or so it would reboot. I would try and install the ROM again but each time I got the same thing.
I tried rebooting normally but then twrp told me that I didn't have an OS to boot to. Uh oh.
After doing another wipe and reset, I could access the download mode (vol down+home+power) and the other mode, which I'm not sure if it's recovery mode? (vol up+home+power).
I tried using Odin3 v1.08, v.3.04 and 3.07 to load up some stock ROMs (N7105ZHDMB1_N7105ZZHDMB1_N7105XXDLL5_HOME.tar.md5, N7105XXDMB2_N7105TMHDLK8_N7105XXDLL5_HOME.tar.md5, and N7105XXDMB2_N7105VNZDMA2_N7105XXDMA1_HOME.tar.md5).
I tried using different USB ports and different computers. Each time I would get a red 'FAIL' screen in Odin3.
Below is an example of the message I'd get from Odin3 v3.07:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..

Can anyone help me? My phone gets stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" window and doesn't progress. I hold down the power button and it just reboots to the same window. I can get to download mode and what I think is recovery mode.
Any guidance is very appreciated. I have read around the threads and I know this isn't a hard brick so there may be some way to resolve this.
Cheers

Hi there, thanks for the link. I'm glad your issue was resolved.
However, I don't think I created a backup, so I couldn't just do a backup through recovery.
I can't reinstall any of the stock firmware I've downloaded as it says 'failed' every time in Odin3.
Update: I can't get into recovery mode now.
1. Even I had the same situation wen I ran megawipe script but stock rom installation in download mode gave life to my phone...
So first try installin wit different versions of odins and roms..
2. May be the whole internal memory lost all the partitions into which the files could be flashed.. 'wipe data factory reset' in recovery would have put them back ..but since ur phone recovery too is lost search for a tool which can put them back as I remember readin about such a tool... will search too..

Try instal a costom recovery after you instal costom recovery with Odin (make a full wipe, format system, partition, wipe cache and dalvik) then download a costom rom and put on external SD card if you have if not borrow one or buy one and instal the rom from external Sd card.
I hope you solved.

Would I still need GooManager or Terminal Emulator to install a custom rom like twrp? Because I can't install apps like GooManager or Terminal Emulator as my phone is bricked.
edit: Tried installing TWRP recovery using this hxxp://androidlegend.com/install-twrp-recovery-2-3-1-1-on-galaxy-note-2-n7100/ but Odin3 kept crashing every time I hit "start". I don't know if it's because my phone is an SHV-E250S and not a n7100 or what?
double edit: Update. I can get recovery mode again! Weird.
Options are:
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
So I went ahead and selected "wipe data/factory reset". Rebooted and still the same.
Oh man!
So I've tried the method in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040264) for Verizon Note 2 and I had a minor progress.

The progress bar underneath where it would say PASS or FAIL actually said something, ie. Boot, which is something that hasn't happened with the stock ROMs I've tried in the first post. Now I just need a stock from for the SHV-E250s that will work!
Upon rebooting, it adds to my flash number, so it is writing, but not completing the install.
Has anyone got any ideas I can try?

Yes, I did just that. Still no luck. Is this possibly because there isn't much support for the SHV-E250s in terms of recovery ROMs and Odin3?
A recovery ROM for N71000 was able to begin writing on my phone, thus increasing flash count, but failed at the beginning in Odin3.
I don't know if it's a ROM problem or a phone problem or an Odin3 problem?
Noob here, btw.
these stock ROMs that you have tried are not for galaxy note 2 korean version/shv-e250s..
try this latest stock ROM/firmware for shv-e250s : E250SKSVME1_E250SSKTVMAA_SKT.zip

Go here...... http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=233. Download the one-click rooted no data and try again. If that doesn't work, you can always try using a different cable. Do you have TWRP as the recovery or CWM? If you have TWRP, you can always boot into recovery, connect your phone to the computer via USB, mount the USB drive and then push any ROM to your external SD card and then just flash from there.

I have CWM installed. It's having trouble mounting things, such as
cache/recovery
/sdcard/.android_secure
/data
I had just installed CM10.1 on it, and it suddenly started rebooting in a loop and I received these errors when trying to anything with the phone.
Your trying to use odin correct? But you have kies also set up?
Also do you have the MD4 updated bootloader installed?

I believe I am using Odin correctly, I have flashed other things with it in the past, I am running it in administrator mode. I do not have Kies set up. And I don't entirely know what you mean by MD4 Updated Bootloader.

In order to flash any of the new 10.1 cm it is required that the bootloader be updated to the latest release MD4. There us a script which checks for it. Can you boot into CWM? If yes then boot into CWM and flash this first. http://db.tt/Qt6NcH0a

Sorry, I got it. I have tried to flash through CWM, but I am having a problem with mounting as I mentioned in previous comments. I can flash CM10.1 in CWM and it says updated successfully, but it's stuck in a bootloop because the /data and /.android_secure are missing. So I am trying to go back to stock with the firmware to start over, but odin is not working as I thought it would.
Flash the update i gave you then flash 10.1 again and try to boot up. Make sure you wipe cache and dalvik and do a factory reset before flashing

Is there a .PIT file that I can use to re-partition my phone? Seems like the partition is bad or corrupted. All attempts to install stock firmware have failed. CWM works fine, but I cannot mount anything. The only thing I can mount is my external SD card.

Does anyone know where I can get a .PIT file for a Sprint Galaxy S3? I have tried just about everything, and the failure keeps happening when it tries to write an .img to the phone in odin 3.0.7. I want to try and re-partition the phone to see if that fixes any corrupt partitions to be able to write to the phone.

Accidentally wiped everything in TWRP, "no OS installed" - what are my options?
I rooted my tablet last night and everything went fine, and the next step way to install a custom ROM. So I was attempting to move my download of CleanROM onto my external SD...but I forgot that I have no external SD card! I went into TWRP and wiped internal storage thinking it would be there, and now I get a message saying "No OS Installed are you sure you want to reboot?" whenever i try to exit TWRP.
I am assuming my only option at this point would be to ODIN back to stock? If anyone could tell me exactly how to do this, step by step (and specifically which files I need & where to get them) it would be greatly appreciated because my tablet is a $600 paperweight at this point and I am not too familiar with ODIN.
I also read some things about using something called "ADB" to load a ROM onto the tablet, but again I am not familiar with this at all and I would need to know specifically how to do this. I tried to figure it out with Google but all the instructions seemed too device-specific.

Steps to follow :
1. Extract the attached odin 3.09.
2. Download your region rom from here http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-P600 or if you are looking for US firmware then from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-P600&pcode=XAR#firmware.
3. Unzip your firmware.
4. Go into download mode by pressing power + volume down, then volume up.
5. Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop until the com port on the left hand side turns blue.
6. Place your extracted rom in the "AP" bar.
7. Hit "Start"
8. Wait till installation is complete .
You should be good to go .

The firmware for USA is Cellular South http://terafile.co/574648641665/P600UEUBMK1_P600XARBMK1_XAR.zip
I think a small couple of small files in "data/media", which holds mostly unimportant stuff, must not get deleted or it's bricktime. Like when i once formatted "data" on my old tablet.
I had this same problem, however I fixed it using adb sideload. You can install it from here. First go to advanced in TWRP and click the ADB option. Then you just need to open cmd, change your directory to where the ROM zip is, then write "adb sideload test.zip" where the quotes are removed and test is the name of your zip which should be something like "CleanROM-2.0-R2.zip"
Thanks for all the help. I was able to get back to stock using Odin and am now rooted running CleanROM. I'll be using that ADB info in the future for sure too.

Tried to install a hyperdrive zip though twrp. Just reboots.
It also says no super su installed.
Help. I haven't done this years and have no clue

I would try a different version of Odin Also make sure you have the correct tablet ROM, try getting yourself back to stock before other ROMS.

in download mode does it say n7100 in product code?
what you need to do if you will be using a pit file is use a factory emergency rom. sadly most the links are down.
i have a MJ9 Emergency rom from india which is 4.3. i will try upload it when i get home in 8 to 9 hours to mega.nz if that is ok.
what i have done is replaced the MJ9 bootloader with MJ5 in that firmware.
if you can't wait, you need a firmware that has BL,AP, CP and CSC all split so you can put them in all the boxes. if i get a chance at lunch i might try find a pre uploaded link for you. just remain calm and don't start flashing stuff randomly
I have searched and searched online and cant seem to nail down a solution to this issue.
My Download Screen displays:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-N7100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
I hope that my Note II is not bricked. I have tried 100's of times with stock, custom recovery's, CWM, I get some kind of error no matter what I do.
my Sammy just doesn't want to work with me.
I hope that we can put together a solution.

to both you guys:- what bootloader are you on/were you on? Kenneth I think you've taken your bootloader above MJ5 as you say your warranty bit is 1. you can't downgrade bootloader at all! flashing the MJ5 bootloader with the file I've uploaded won't help. you will only get FAIL in odin. you need to tell me which bootloader you've been to so I can try arrange a package for you if I can.
Teckin, I need you to answer the above too

First off thanks for your help. Here's the deal I had this installed: DN3_v3.2_by_E-Team_(Vegeta_Edition) Thats a Jelly Bean for the past 2 month's so what ever bootloader works with that is what it had. I was tying to flash an OEM KK: BL_N7100XXUEMJ5_1903221_REV04_user_low_ship.tar I figured we'll since I have this problem let me flash DN5 but in oder to do this I would have to upgrade my bootloader KK that's why I flashed this BL_N7100XXUEMJ5_1903221_REV04_user_low_ship.tar Now I say again The problem was not a result of flashing. My wife was using Skype while on the DN3 and it froze she pushed the wake button once or twice it went black and then gave the reboot logo that I mentioned above. So then I proceeded to try to flash to fix and upgrade in the process. And it gave me the odin results above No PIT Partition
https://mega.co.nz/#!5ZlXFbrR!GoNuuuDwKrp3QG8X7p4eV5v5ViOZR51kXgTtcptkGBo
here's the file I've uploaded.
you may well still have taken the device to MJ5 only.
flash all files in here at the same time using odin. let me know how you get on?
I find this method works best for me:
phone is off, load odin, load all the files in, pit, bl, ap, cp, csc no messing around with any ticking other boxes. AP will probably cuase odin to crash for a few seconds when loading just let it do its thing.
then put phone into download mode( I put battery in hold down, menu and power) if the drivers have been installed using that port previous it finds the device in odin instantly and i start the process.
If your flash is successful but doesn't load rom, your data might need to be wiped. i mean if your device is has been stuck on a Samsung screen for 10 minutes after odin said everythings fine don't panic. take battery out, go into recovery (volume up+menu+power) and then wipe data. it should now load the rom.

Ok so here is the deal on my GT-N7100. I bought it this way, but have not been able to flash it back to stock to start from scratch. so to answer your question, I have NO CLUE.
Seller told me that It would only boot into dl screen with usb...So I thought hmm I can re-flash it with stock software and move forward from that point.
Thank you all for the suggestions!

mate i think you've flashed a new bootloader than MJ5 hence why it fails at that stage.
i am checking to see if i can get hold of a kitkat rom for you that's split to so you can flash pit.
i have never tried it with kitkat mate. plus i don't use odin to flash anymore. i use my octoplus box so files are in a .oct format
Sorry for delay in replying.
again i think youhave a newer bootlaoder if it shows warranty bit.

i dont think it makes a difference to be honest as i think it just uses the same type of way to push it.
i have a silly question to ask you.
what happens if you flash http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/n7100//philz_touch_6.41.6-n7100.tar.md5
in ap only without pit ofcourse.
does odin allow you to do this?

I tried that file as well. Still same issue. I did talk with a guy that does jtag services and he advised me that it's either the eMMC or motherboard issue. He wants to sell me a eMMC Flash service for $75.00. What do you guys think I should do....

We're you able to find the KK files for the N7100 odin flashable? and a little off topic here but I have been dabbling with the idea of unlocking cells. I live in the Dominican Republic and cells here are mostly GSM wondering if you we're to purchase 3 box's to do the widest range of phones which 3 would you buy and from where? Sorry everybody for the off topic.

that's note a bad price for the service i'd say. they have to use a rework station to pull the emmc off and then reball the new one on. however i'd suggest you try flashing a new firmware on first. i will try to dig a new firmware out for you to try but if they keep failing then the only route is emmc and make sure they load a firmware below 4.3 knox free if you want custom roms again
Hi there,
I hope that somebody can help me.
My Galaxy Note 2 stopped working all of the sudden. It was running without any problems when it suddenly restarted without a reason. Since then it does not boot anymore, any attempt ends on the screen where it shows "Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100". The only chance to switch it off after this is removing the battery. The phone was not rooted, it was running stock Android 4.3 before the crash.
Pressing Home and Volume-up during power-on doesn't show the menu so I'm not able to do a factory reset. Instead it shows the android robot and the text "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!"
I was hoping to have a chance to get a copy of the data of the internal memory so I followed the instructions to install the "Heimdall suite". When I start the phone in download mode (or what's left of it) I get the following responses to Heimdall commands:
Code:
C:\Note-2\Heimdall Suite>heimdall detect
Device detected
Code:
C:\Note-2\Heimdall Suite>heimdall print-pit
Initialising connection...

Claiming interface...
Setting up interface...
Checking if protocol is initialised...
Protocol is not initialised.

Handshaking with Loke...
Beginning session...
Session begun with device of type: 131072
Downloading device's PIT file...
ERROR: Failed to receive PIT file size!
ERROR: Failed to download PIT file!
To make sure my setup is correct I've tested it with with a working Galaxy S3 which doesn't give me the error messages after the second command.
Is there any way to get access to the data that is stored on the internal memory?
The phone is still under warranty so if there is a way to get access I'd prefer one that doesn't void the warranty...
Thank you very much for any hint!
Regards -- Markus
Battery buy a new one... I had the same prob awhile back Connected to the charger it would fully boot but as soon as you pull the cable it will power off then be stuck at Samsung logo till you pull the battery.
I borrowed a battery to test and sure enough and then ordered one.

It's been a long time since I dealt with a Note 2 (since mine broke), but I'll try to help.
That sounds like a corrupted .pit file. You'll have to research more on your own, but I think you'll have to flash a new .pit file, then flash the stock ROM.
P.S. If you have a warranty, why don't you use it? lol.

Seems like a similar issue as the guy above. Your download isn't corrupted based on the successful MD5 check. I'll try and research more into your issue.
P.S. You rooted? Any modifications?

Hello Irwenzhao,
thanks for replying.
I haven't rooted my phone yet and so I'm not familiar with flashing, so please excuse my questions. I've read pretty much about flashing in the last few days and (as far as I've understood) flashing things to my phone will erase my data from the phone.
My problem is that I've accidentally stored data on the internal memory instead of the external SD-card . SInce I didn't realize that before the crash there's some stuff on the phone I'd like to have back if this is possible.
Of course I will use the warranty to have the phone repaired but my data will most likely be gone from the phone when I get it back.
That's the reason why I'm trying to find out if there's a way to access the internal memory of my phone before having it repaired.
Cheers -- Markus

Your data should be (probably) gone. I highly doubt the possibility that a method to access your internal storage exists. It could be just a bad motherboard. Just let the Samsung Service Centre folks do their job, nothing much you can do.
P.S. your files may already be gone. (unfortunately)

I don't need my data, and my phone was not rooted. Stock kitkat firmware.
U mention is motherboard failure? My phone no longer got warranty cover. Pls tell me it's not hardware failure

Not sure if you can flash a .pit file with Knox, but you can try. Search it up on Google.

there is a pit file here for N7100 16gb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927983
extract it and flash in odin. that's the file i used when i messed up with my partition and my phone doesn't boot.
this is the exact problem we had last month with our note 2, working fine then bang.
I tried everything but was unable to revive the machine.
Samsung repaired the phone under warranty even though it was over two years old, a new mainboard was fitted as the emmc chip had failed.
Give them a call you have nothing to lose at this point, our phone was gone for a total of 3 working days.
