Going back to stock?

Hi there!
My HTC One X is running ARHD 7.2.1 and I'm planing of installing Faux custom kernel. My question is, how do I switch back to stock kernel and stock Rom? I did a nandroid backup before I installed my first custom Rom on this mobile if that matters? And an extra question, when installing a custom kernel you just flash the boot.img and install the zip using CWM, right?

If you flashed a different boot.IMG then you'll need to download stock one searching is your friend.
If you didn't then just boot into cwm and restore.
If you want 100% stock then you can flash stock recovery also available on the forums.

No it isnt. But there is a thread in dev section where you can find stock kernels. At the worst case, find a matching ruu and extract the boot.img from there.

Question about flahing backups and custom roms

Hi,
I have viperx running on my HOX, I plan to back this up and try other roms.
The question is do I need to flash the boot.img in fastboot before I install a backup version of viperx or can I simply restore without flashing the boot.img.
I assume that if the boot.img is the same you can do this...
I was kinda hoping I could do what I did with the desire and have several roms backed up for whenever I need them.

Your backups will also have boot images in their folders. And unless you flash the exact same rom, you must flash the backup boot. Img from fastboot.

So if I flash the the boot .img for the Coredroid rom then flash coreDroid would I be then able to restore with cwm recovery the viperx rom without having to flash the boot.img for the viperx rom.

If both use the same kernel yes, otherwise you have to flash ViperX boot. Img in your backup directory from your pc using fastboot.

Ok last question I promise, is tha boot.IMG the kernel, if so if I use the faux kernel will that suit most roms coredroid in particular

faux kernel is compatible with almost all the roms.
Give it a try and find out for your self. you can always return back to stock kernel.

[Q] Quick question about flashing custom firmwares.

Hi guys,
I'm reading about custom roms for one x and in installation sections usually are infos about flashing new firmware packages before installing custom ROM from SD. Now I have stock JB with 3.16.69.3 firmware. For example I'm going to flash Android Revolution HD where is older one: 3.14.401.31. Do I have to flash this package via adb or just downlaod the rom .zip file and flash in recovery? What I should do? Thanks

First ... you make a nandroid backup of the stock rom and store it somewhere safe !
Then you download the rom.zip file and copy the boot.img file from within the rom.zip to the fastboot folder, and the rom.zip to the sdcard of the phone
Flash the boot.img file, enter recovery and perform a full wipe. Then install the rom.zip via the recovery menu
And if you are on stock recovery you have to flash a custom recovery first !

The firmware update is needed for jellybean ROMs that have HTC sense 4.0+.
As you already have stock jellybean on your device.
You already have a high enough firmware to flash the custom variants so you don't need to worry about updating firmwares

I already have custom recovery ok. Do I think correctly that boot.img is modded kernel image? It is safe to "downgrade"? And last question, what about hboot; I have 1.36.0000 one, it is good?

You have nothing to worry about, all s fine to flash any rom in here. And its not really a downgrade. The software number is a bit different but its all JB

You have the same software number. That's why the nandroid backup is important

hey guys i was have oriox custom rom and then i back to stock rom and relocked phone and unrooted etc. i'm waiting for 3.20.401.3 update but i didnt take still. is there anybody took this update with my cid code ? (e__11)

You need stock recovery for updates

how can i get stock recovery ?

If you have the ota file you can install it from the custom recovery over the stock rom. I didn't get the ota either (E11)
But here is the stock recovery you need.

Getting OTA

Sir i have htc one x (asia) rooted but i am on stock htc rom with kernal virsion of "3.1.10-g62b3f63

i dont think that i have changed and kernal but this is the kernal after i got root access.
I wanna get ota upeates as htc has started giving updates to one x +
So what should i do with my one x (rooted) for getting ota??

You need stock rom, stock kernel and stock recovery, all of witch you can get here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546970
Make sure you get the ODEXED one or it won't work
If you are on stock rom then there is no need for that, only download boot.img and recovery from there
You can stay rooted, and you don't have to relock your bootloder or anything

Actually i have taken recovery using clockwork mode and i have all this boot.img file and recovery.img file
So when i came back on stock rom i recovered both of them
Just the difference between my one x and unrooted one x is that mine one is rooted and its having kernal which (i m thinking) is different...if u aware of that kernal then plz say me by seeing my kernal virsion which i have stated above...
So with that kernal and keeping root , am i able to get ota?

the boot.img is the kernel, so if you go into your first nandroid backup from clockworkmod and find that boot.img and flash it via fastboot flash boot boot.img then you are on the stock kernel..

Is it okey of i get boot.img from somewhere and flash it on my current rom...?

I dare to say that you only need to flash back the stock recovery.

I have taken recovery through clockwork mode after i unlocked my bootloader
And currently i m on it...now what to do??

So you restored the stock nandroid backup completely including flashing its boot.img ?
Give me the output of :
Fastboot getvar version-main
Then i will get you your stock recovery.

Can i see this directly from mobile without using pc?
Like terminal emulator or any other way...???
