For the life of me, I cant find the option to disable the on off when I close or open the cover. This cover is great for me as I can fit the Note8 in my pocket. I find that when I move around the Note8 screen is powering on and off. Could be the reason for the batt drain and the heat up that is occuring. Anyone have any ideas how to disable this? Thanks.

Any one know any app working on note 2? When I close case will switch screen off? Im using android 4.1.2. Thanks

few appl are there like smart screen off, but if you have black flip cover nothing will work perfect
Search for "IntelliCover" on Google Play. or just click --> https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wyLDEsImNvbS5kcmFnb25uaXMuaW50ZWxsaWNvdmVyIl0.
Works perfectly with my Note 2. No wakelocks whatsoever. And best of all, it's free!
If you're using a dark-colored flip cover, you may want to stick a light-colored sticker on the part of the flip cover that goes against the proximity and light sensors...

Are you noticing much of a battery drain with this? Also, any concern with shortening the life of the proximity sensor since it's always on?
Edit:
The red light always stay on in the sensor? And am I not configuring something right because I have to enter my code every time even tho its set to 30 minutes of inactivity.

Proximity sensor (red light) will always be on because that's how the app detects whether you've closed the case or not.
You have to enter your code every time because although you have it set to 30 minutes of inactivity, when the app detects you've closed the flip case it turns the scree off the same way pressing the power button would, so the phone will block instantly rather than wait the 30 minutes you set it to.
I'm not sure if the setting exists on Samsung based roms, but on cm, in the bit where you elect your lock screen security there's an option for "power button instantly locks" which should prevent this from happening.

Such a setting also exists in Samsung ROMs, but IntelliCover doesn't recognize this setting apparently, or so it seems...

I haven't noticed any hit on my battery life, but try it out. Doesn't fail to get to deep sleep on mine, as it normally would. No wakelocks as far as I can tell with BBS.
How do I return to the watch screen ? In some apps I can't seem to figure out how to get back! Super annonying having to swipe the screen from left to right 20x some times in other apps to get back. Is there some universal go back to watch swipe/poke/lick/kick i'm missing?
Some apps you need to swipe from the absolute edge of the watch, others you need to swipe on the "card" to close/ get out of it.
Ergo,.. absolute edge you will feel the raised edge while swiping, others you simply swipe from the left side but stay on the glass.
I hope thats helpful.
So there's no one action to return to the watch screen? My Gear 2 had a home button, and it would be nice if the 360 button worked that way as well.
Negative there is not a "home button". I agree it would be nice. It's easy to get lost in the menus.
I usually just tap the power button twice.

Cool, that seems to work, thanks!
I usually just cover the screen with my palm until a feel a slight vibration, that turns the screen off and when you turn it back on, you are back on the face.

I thought covering the screen was to mute/turn off notifications. Do you have to cover it again to turn them on?

No, covering the screen turns off the display and returns it to the watch face.

Swipe from top edge all the way to the bottom to toggle mute, swiping half way to peek at the date/charge level
I realized today my phone was facing inwards towards my leg and that it may be double tapping and turning on in my pants. Any way of stopping this, but also monitoring? I am just curious as I faced my phone outward it kept my battery lasting much longer today.

I had the same issue, but for me it turned out to be neither the back button nor double tap to wake. For me it was greenify, which does evil things when it doesn't have root: it turns on the screen, goes to the app info of an app it wants to hibernate, and "clicks" the "force stop" button, before going back and just leaving the screen on.
Of course this may not be the cause of your problem. You may not even have greenify installed. Have a useful way to debug the issue: install tasker (or something similar, maybe condi can do it too), and make a profile that makes your phone vibrate when the screen turns on. Make sure the vibration duration is distinguishable from notifications, 200 ms worked for me.
This way, you will know exactly when your phone turns on in your pocket. You will be able to reason about whether the back button was accidentally pressed or whether it's double tap to wake, or something else altogether, like greenify in my case.
Just a side note: it's unlikely to be double tap to wake, because double tap to wake will not turn your screen on when the proximity sensor detects that something is close. You can try that by holding your finger over the proximity sensor while trying to turn it on. Double tap to wake won't turn the screen on in the first place, and the screen will turn on and immediately off when using the power button.
So yeah, try the tasker/condi profile and see what your phone does right after it wakes. I saw mine force closing Facebook messenger like 7 times in less than an hour, and it stopped after I uninstalled greenify.

Ive noticed the screen on out of pocket but rarely. One new feature is the "slide down" quick peek while the display is off. This new feature may have new side effects.

That too doesn't work when the proximity sensor senses something is close. Try it by holding a finger over it while trying to pull down the thing with another finger.

I have not found a way to get battery percentage to show up under the clock and date under flip cover (i have the huawei mate 20x ORIGINAL flip cover)
And I have activated smart cover in the settings, and everything works as it should but no battery percentages under flip cover, where you get the most use of it.
Seems to be different versions of emui for EVR-L29. I have EVR-L29 9.0.0.127 (c636e3r1p11patch02).
Bought from WondMobile.
Anyone else out there with the same problem or have a solution ??
I have the 8g/256g China version AL00 with the official smart cover. I might be wrong but I think the cover window displays time/date, notifications (not all of them, I've seen text msg ones so far, fb msgr ones don't show up) and calls allowing to answer/decline calls without opening cover. Not sure if it will display anything else.
jepp,, have everything , but no battery percentages shown in flip cover (smart cover ) mode with official smart cover.

I have Chinese version. My screen display is the same as yours when I power off using power button and that display stays on, constantly. But as soon as I close the smart cover all of the display disappears. It's a blank screen. But if I power down the phone by closing the smart cover the display is different, it shows time, date and weather (instead of battery). Then that display disappears after about 6 seconds and the screen is blank. Can't find any setting that will keep it on constantly when smart cover is closed.

yes we have the same problem, heh but i do not even have weather, Too bad it's so hard to get this tiny but important thing right.
Still no solution for this?
I have it with battery percent. But when i close the cover after some seconds it all closed... Not smart in a smart windows flip cover [emoji23]

Unfortunately not. Strange that no more react to this miss. The condition of the battery is as important as the time and date.
Hey Guys,
So something very annoying I've noticed so far since owning this phone. I could have it laying on the table/counter, whatever. I have lift to wake and any other motion related setting to turn the screen on disabled, however, if I so much as nudge my phone while it's sitting the screen will always wake. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there some other hidden setting I've yet to disable and need to? Is it a glitch or something? Appreciate any ideas or suggestions.
Thanks!
You are not the only one observing this behavior. I believe it's a software glitch. It's has been mentioned on other forums as well.
I don't think it's a glitch. People have said the "fix" is to turn off fingerprint option. So I'm thinking it's actually a feature to turn on the screen so it's ready for your finger print. It's different than lift to wake because it only shows the Always On Display. Lift to wake, goes past the Always On Display and to the lock screen. I've tested it in my pocket and it's stays fully off.

It's a feature not a bug
There is doze_quick_pickup_gesture option that you can set via adb. Just setup adb shell (google how to do it if you don't have it), then enable developer options on your phone (google it too), then connect your phone to your PC and execute this command in the shell:
shell settings put secure doze_quick_pickup_gesture 0
It worked for me! Borrowed from here:

Interesting. I noticed that my AOD is always on, even though I have set it to be disabled when charging.
Maybe Adaptive Sound has something to do with that? 'Cuz I enabled that.

Yes i think its a bug when adaptive sound is on and it hears loud sounds, ot turns the screen on. Just try banging the desk or hitting two spoons when near your phone with adaptive sound on and off... The screen lights up when its ON bit doesn't when its off
I am having just the opposite effect. I lift my phone and nothing happens. I have to click my power button for it to go on sometimes.
If you refer to Lift to check BLACK SCREEN It is a feature for easy to use fingerprint so that very helpful for me

The screen turns on when I lift the phone. (Black and white lock screen.) "Lift to wake" and "Tap to Check" are both off.
