Problem with Triangle Away | The Flash Counter stay at 1 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Guys
I'm here to get some help ^^"
My galaxy Note 2 has some sound problems, so I have to send it back to Samsung in order to repair it.
My phone was rooted and had a custom Firmware.
So I downloaded Triangle Away to keep my warranty and bring the flash counter back to 0.
But it doesn't work :s The "Custom Binary Download" still is at "Yes (1 counts)" and I don't know why...
I have a full stock ROM and Recovery installed with Odin, and this is what is displayed right now when I go through Download Mode:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-N7100
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
My only problem is the Custom Binary Download. I don't know how to change it into "NO".
It would be awesome if someone could help me ^^
Thanks !

Hi i think you have to do this on the recovery :
wipe cache / wipe data / and wipe cache again, then you will see the counts 0.
You should try it

As long as you have a custom recovery it will remain as 1. To get it to zero you will need a stock rom with stock recovery.

But if you "read" the OP he has mentioned that both his ROM and recovery are stock.

No, OP have used Triangle away while on custom ROM then he flashed stock ROM and so his flash counter was unchanged
Anyway i have direct him on another thread and issue has been solved.

Flash Counter 1?

So this is what my Odin Mode say:
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-T889
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: YES (1 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
I need the flash count to be 'No' with the others staying the same to warranty this bad boy! I don't want to root this device again because that will raise the flash count to 2, but if I do root I can use triangle away. After that I will have the count to No but have my phone status be listed as "Modified".... GAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know how to RESET EVERYTHING TO STOCK!?
I recently download a stock firmware and before that I used triangle away to reset to No, but after I used odin to flash the stock firmware, I got the 1 count....
Please PLEASE HELP! I need warranty bad!
You didn't like the answer I gave you in your other thread?

Thanks for the thread, but I was too hopeful. Your thread gave me the situation im in right now. Not saying it's worse than before but still didn't solve it.
Really do appreciate the help though man.
FIXED!!! Can be shipped back for warranty!
Oh my goodness! I can't express the joy that is coming out from my body right now.
I got all of my odin to be stock all official and flash count to be No.
My status on my device in settings is Normal.
So happy right now!
How do I close this thread?
How about telling others what you did?
For people who have the same problem, which is wanting to warranty their note 2, here are the steps I took.
I downloaded this stock firmware with root already in it that does not trip the flash counter when you flash as my firmware.
After I downloaded that, I went ahead and downloaded Triangle Away (purchased).
Went ahead and reset my flash counter to No with Triangle Away
After flash counter is set back to No, I went into recovery mode, odin recovery, and wiped everything. Meaning both cache and data
Next, I re-booted the phone and went into SuperSU.
In SuperSU go ahead and uninstall it. basically unroot.
After that, you should have a phone with Flash count of No and system status as Normal.
Download for the stock TMO firmware is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975560

This is what my experience was:
I have a t889, never really messed around with it, except to unlock it. Ive been a long time fan of xda though, so i decided it was time to start rooting, but was worried about voiding my warranty. Ive read all about resetting flash counters, using triangle away etc ect. but wasnt too awful sure about all of this.
In the end I decided to go with option 2 (strictly rooting my phone) found on this form:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955423
Flashed through odin, no problems, worked great. Said this in download mode after rooting:
custom binary download: yes (1 count)
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: custom
Decided to try and unroot it, in case i needed a warranty exchange once i went back wih tmobile. Flashed the normal stock rom downloaded through kies (so i KNEW it was straight from samsung ya know?). Again, no problem.
Went back into download mode...... saw this:
custom binary download: yes (2 counts)
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
alrighty then. rerooted using CF autoroot as per thread instructions. now i saw this is download mode:
custom binary download: yes (3 counts)
Current Binary: custom
System Status: custom
Used triangle away. Now i saw this in download mode:
custom binary download: no
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
I said to myself "YAY! now to simply remove the root by using supersu (settings, full unroot), and do a system/cache reset from recovery mode, like it says." Did that exactly like they say in the forum......... saw this:
custom binary download: yes (1 count)
Current Binary: custom
System Status: custom
me = NOT HAPPY at that point! So, i retried all the steps listed, thinking i did something wrong. Same results. Tried it a 3rd time, same thing..... finally about to through my pc, i searched the forums for some other fix.
Found THIS thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975560
HOLY COW IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!!!! After simply flashing the root66_TMO_T889UVALL4 rom with odin, my download mode now says this:
custom binary download: no
Current Binary: samsung official
System Status: official
Not ONLY is it consistently saying this thoughout MANY reboots, it also stays this way after a system/cache reset through recovery mode.
AND if you use the root66 rom, your phone is basically normal stock tmobile everything, with one huge exception... ITS ROOTED!!!! YAY! Now you can do whatever the heck u want, and if u have to send it in for warranty exchage, just use the system/cache reset from recovery mode and it wont chnce any of the values like i was having so many problems with! No need to use supersu to unroot and no need to use triangle away (although i still bought the app even if its just to support the devloper).
I hope this helps anyone who's running into the same problems I did. I cant thank the OP of the root66 rom (mrRobinson) anywhere NEAR enough for fixing my phone! Now i can uninstall the bloatware and CARRIER IQ that i hate, and not have to worry about screwing up my warrany exchange!

[Q] Galaxy Note II N7100 DEAD can I warranty it?

We have a N7100 that can go into download mode. In Odin it just keeps reporting that 'can't open serial (com) port. Same with Heimdall. Just trying to get to factory image.
c'mon
Or can someone just boot their N7100 into download mode and tell me what yours says? Rooted or stock will tell me.
can help but heres what mine says (not rooted and 100% stock) running 4.1.1
ODIN MODE
product name: GT-N7100
Custom Binary download: no
Current binary: samsung official
system status: official
Thank you. I was pretty it wouldn't warranty with that output.
Somehow going to have to revive it otherwise it's just a dud.
Been at it all day... sigh...

[Q] Soft bricked galaxy s3 4.3 please help

Today I tried to root my AT&T (d2att) (SGH-i747) just upgraded to 4.3 yesterday. I am completley stock no root no custom recovery. I don't know what happened but it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again." I can't go into recovery,it won't let me. I ordered a jig (don't have it yet). It says this-
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I747
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: yes (5 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: official
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
warranty bit: 0
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 2
So can somebody please help? I have download mode but recovery is a no go
bump please help phones been bricked for more than a day now
There is no Odin package for 4.3 OTA so you will have to install an Odin packaged custom recovery such as twrp then install a 4.3 ROM or higher via recovery. 4.4 KiKKat will work too.

Hey guys I had a similar problem when I flashed a cf auto root file to the new ota. (sorry if that's a little noobish ) the way I fixed it was in kies being that stated above it's hard to get a Odin flash able 4.3 firmware. So I went into kies>tools>firmware upgrade/installation, (or something along those lines) a heads up you'll need your serial number and model number. Put all that in and it will tell you to put it into recovery mode (they really mean download mode not sure why they call it recovery) then plug it in and it'll download 4.3 and flash it to your device and voila! Not sure if it applies to you but it put my phone into safe mode. A reboot fixed that! I hope I helped you guys! Also another warning you will loose all your data.
Cheers!

Reset flash counter

Hey everyone, I've just done a restore from Kies from Cyanogenmod to the original Sammy firmware. Is there any way I can also reset the binary counter to 0?

Depending on model (you didn't specify), TriangleAway. I used it on my 5110 to reset back to 0.

I read somewhere here on XDA that on the Tab 3 models the binary count is hidden on newer firmwares, not sure if that's true, or whether it even has one at all?
Anyway I don't think there's anything out there to reset the binary yet on Tab 3 (again, if it has one to reset).

Knox Warranty Void 1 (HELP !!!!!)

Guys,
I have not kept up with Samsung phones and am totally lost. A friend brought me an ATT Note ii that to their knowledge had been rooted. When they tried to do an OTA update, it screwed up and now when i go to download mode, here is what is says:
ODIN MODE
Product name: SGH-I317
Custom Binary Download: YES (10 Counts)
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1
RP SWREV: A2
When I try to load a stock rom via Odin, it will go all the way to the end before it errors and show in Red "unsupported"
I would appreciate any help you have on this. I am totally lost but if anyone can fix it, you guys can, Thanks in advance
after doing a little research, i was able to load TWRP recovery, a pre-rooted stock rom of 4.3 and the 4.3 bootloader all though ODIN and got the phone back up and running. My next question is, with my knox warranty showing 1, what are my options as far as roms go? Am i stuck with the stock 4.3 ?

There are 4.4.2 ROMS in the Android Development threads. Remember to do backups before flashing

I'm in the same boat here...would you mind telling me how you were able to do this, and specifically, where did you find the rom and bootloader downloads?

If you can get into download mode, can flash 2.8.1.3 twrp via Odin.
Download the latest TWRP from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/t0lte
Copy a custom ROM to your external SD card.
Flash TWRP via Odin. Boot into recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, wipe system, flash ROM from external SD card, reboot.
