Hi everyone. Recently I have found out that my note 2 (N7100) encounters with a very strange problem, that is, with the double tap to top function activated, in contacts/ stock email apps, even without double tapping the top of the phone, the list would automatically go to top.
Does anyone has this problem too? After searching through the internet looks like I am the only one who has this problem.
Don't know whether this is a software problem or hardware problem.
Rom/kernel? If you use custom rom and recovery do a cache and dalvik cache wipw from recovery and if that won't do, try fix permission too.

Hi all,
For past few days i have been getting the strange issue. When i turn on my phone nothing would come and only black screen would show up. Then after few seconds i get message saying "launcher is not responding"...
I have tried both stock and nova launcher but same issue. I reflashed stock rom again and still same problem.
My Rom: ICS 4.0.2 Stock and stock kernel.
I want to keep stock rom so what is the solution? Why does this happen? Thanks

did you at any point between flashes, factory reseted the device?
did you try clearing app data/cache?
concerning nova launcher, you should post this under its related thread
concerning stock launcher, you should try and reach [email protected] groups
people flash all kinds of stuff but one ANR (application not responding) comes along and all hell breaks loose. get adb logcat when you're booting up/entering Android UI.
i can't wipe data or cache as i have stock recovery.I don't have CWM. i will upload the logcat soon. Thanks

if you press up (or up+power) on stock recovery, it will give you a recovery menu if i'm not mistaken (i may not recall it correctly).
and i was talking about the app data/cache that you clear in Settings > Apps as well, not just the ones in recovery.

Here is the Logcat. I already wiped everything when i flashed stock rom 4.0.2 with XXKK6.
Launcher not Responding
I'm getting a similar problem with my new Galaxy Nexus. I'm running stock ICS 4.0.1, kernel 3.0.1 on the bell mobility network. I've installed a few apps, but nothing which seems too unpopular. Here is the list I had installed when the launcher was performing flawlessly:
Swype Keyboard
Draw Free
Bell Mobile TV
Volume+
Here's what I've installed recently since launcher has become unstable:
Flashlight v. 1.3.0
Skype
StumbleUpon
TED
Sudoku Free
Here's whats been installed since:
Tip n Split
Antivirus Free
RealCalc
Quite regularly I am getting the "Launcher is not responding" message with a request to wait, report, or close the launcher. The home screen will lock up temporarily and none of the buttons will become usable. I've checked the ram usage, and it is holding at around 400mb. Clearing a bunch of apps from the cache or running screen does not change the frequency of freezes. I have also tried resetting the Nexus to factory defaults without any new apps, but it only took about an hour before I got the 'Launcher is not responding' message.
Anyone have any ideas for re-stabilizing ICS?
Thanks!
There is a part in the logcat talking about a channel that is unrecoverably broken... seems 1 of the fc's, power outage or something else left a file half written in your system.
Try performing a factory reset (which will wipe all userdata and give you a clean system)
if this doesn't work and you've had your phone unlocked reflash the system, boot and recovery again (using fastboot) (how to do that is explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391881 )
If you have not tempered wit the system in any way (not rooted, no custom roms and no custom recovery) send it back to the store and get it fixed under warranty. When you can't or don't want to contact your seller proceed with reflashing your system at your own risk.

Cant say that I am. When I do start having problems no matter what it is I usually boot into recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions.
That typically fixes any issues I have and if it doesn't it might be services related by the carrier / location/ etc. Try just a simple reboot. you have to remember these are mini computers and sometimes things get jammed up. Run the stock task killer and clear ram. I also found Cache cleaner NG works miracles.
I currently do not have my phone rooted so I can't boot it into recovery. But thanks for the help but I am going to try the reboot option.

If you phone is not rooted and there has been no changes made (besides installing apps and basic home screen customization) then I would lean towards just a standard reboot.
I did reboot and it fix everything

Good to hear.
When I try to mass text more than two contacts my phone freezes, I would select contacts that I want to message and then try to type my message the screen goes black, but the notification bar remains. Can't do anything so I have to just hold down the power button to restart phone. Tried typing message first and then select my contacts, but I still get the same problem. This doesn't happen when texting one or two people. Did a factory reset but the problem still persist. What could possibly be the problem and is there a fix? Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I'm rooted and using stock Touchwiz with CWM recovery.
Clear cache for the messages app and try again. Is this a recurring problem or has it come up only recently?

I have never been able to mass text, so it's a recurring problem. How would I go about to clearing my cache for my message app, I'm using the stock app. Sorry, I don't know much about this, I'm new to rooting and smartphones in general.

Huh. You couldnt do this even on stock (unrooted)? Because if the unrooted stock base has this issue, then all custom stock roms will too...you can try making a nandroid and flashing another custom stock rom, it may just be an issue with what you're on
And no problem, everyone was new to this at one point
To clear an apps cache, you go to Settings > Applications > All apps tab, select the app you want, then wait for the app info page to load and tap the "Clear cache" button

Thanks, went to clear my cache, there wasn't anything to clear. I think I couldn't do this even on unrooted stock, I don't really remember. I've already made a backup before doing the factory reset, which I've now restored and currently using. I'll probably try to flash another rom to see if the problem exist on them as well.
I have a HTC Wildfire S, rooted, with an AOKP rom.
One day, my phone was running slow, so I rebooted into recovery and cleared dalvik cache and system cache. I rebooted the system and absolutely NOTHING is working. after I unlock the phone, a bunch of processes stop working. Pressing the home button makes Nova Launcher crash. I have since uninstalled it, and still nothing is working.
I can't even turn the phone off using the power button. The only way I can shut the screen off is by removing the battery manually.
EDIT: I tried a factory reset, and it's still the same as before. NOTHING is working. I can go into Settings, that's about it.
A list of apps that stop working:
Link2sd
facebook
outlook
yahoo weather
google.process.gapps
nova launcher
swiftkey
superuser
ETC..
I have attached pictures so you guys can have a sense of what my problem is. Sorry if the pictures are blurry, I had to use my Ipod touch to take them.
Sorry If i have made any errors in this thread. I am new here, I just created an account right now so I can find some help to solve my issue.

Thanks @Guitarfreak12 and @aWFSuser
I did what you guys said, and I reflashed the same ROM and everything is working fine. The only downside, although, is that I have had to re-install all my apps again.
Also, would you guys know what caused the problem? I'd like to know so that I can ensure it doesn't happen again in the future.

Did you had a lot of applications installed and linked along with dalvik to sd-ext?
Then after clearing the cache on reboot the dalvik files will regenerate in the /data partition if there are a lot of apps and the /data overflows then your apps will stop working without the dex files. And clearing the dalvik cache usually doesn't help in increasing speed.........next time you should go into link2sd and use the "clean dalvik cache" option there.........

This actually happens because Link2SD can also link dalvik cache files as well, what the recovery must have deleted would be the symbolic links that the Link2SD script creates, so next time if you want to clear the dalvik cache, use the option found in the Link2sd app
Alright so it seems, instead of using the dalvik cache cleaner on recovery, I should just use the one located in Link2sd. I'll be sure to do that next time to ensure that no problems persist.
Thanks for all the help!
since updating my note2 LTE for 4.3, no app/game notifications work
i only get call/sms ones appear
i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the aps
clearing cache and data
wipe cache + dalvik + wipe data factory reset
fix permissions
none of which has seemed to fix it
and when i go into the apps like FB snapchat games with friends, forsquare and so on
i get the app showing them, but not in the tray or top of screen, where they usually go.
has anyone else had this or know a fix ?
rooted using this method

thanks
Do You use something like notifyclean or check in the app settings whether you have notifications enabled. See screenshot to understand what I mean.
