Hey If possible is there a tutorial on how to install book Animations on The ATT S3? Its rooted and I have Root Explorer installed.
Thanks
I believe it only is possible on CM and AOKP roms, and they have built in options for that.

Download the app 'ROM toolbox' from play store I believe it has that feature.

It would depend on the kernel. Check for a kernel that supports boot animations.

I did it on my old ATT Moto Atrix and all I can remember is just switching a file. But I totally forgot how or which file
The following is where you can find kernel boot animations that can be flashed in CWM. It does not matter what Rom you are on but it may not work on all Kernels. I can confirm ktweaker and stock work. Obviously you want to have a Nandroid ready http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951551
The following is the tool used to create your own. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928751
Be sure to read carefully if you go the create route!
I'm not entirely sure how to change the swirling Samsung logo itself, but this is a pretty cool start.
Here is a video of me going from stock to the splash screen created for me on page 33. Pardon the shakiness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5F9H5a7nSY&feature=youtu.be

In fairness I did mention that I changed my splash screen. And while not exactly what he is looking for, it is up the same alley, at least within 1 second of boot time. If changing boot on stock is not possible, at least this is something.

Not mad at ya bro, just stating a fact. The first sentence in your post states this is where u can find kernel "boot animations" that are cwm flashable with provided link. Just didn't want anyone getting mislead or confused, that is all. I am currently using the good and evil one... Pretty cool...
Sorry guys this post has become convoluted rambling so I have edited it to try to make simpler.
1: My very first step was to flash the 'supernova _bootanimation_support.zip' file from the following link. It enabled bootanimation support for my rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239130 (click 'flashable zips'')_
2: take bootanimation.zip file from any of the lower sites and push it to data/local and reboot.
This is the best one I have ever seen. The youtube link in the post shows video of it running on an S2, so I am posting a screenshot of it working on my S3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982078&highlight=boot+animation
Here is another one that I will confirm working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30478959&postcount=20
Also this one if you open the zip /data and take the bootanimation.zip out and put in sd/data/local. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1888848&highlight=boot+animation
I am testing these and adding as I go.

I'm not sure where to find it, but it depends on how its packaged, on how you install it. If its a flashable zip, then yes you do exactly as you said. If its just the bootanimation.zip, and isn't flashable, then you can use root explorer to put the file where it belongs. If you're on a sense rom, it goes in /system/customize/resource. If you're on aosp, it goes in /system/media. Just put it in the right folder, set permissions, and reboot.

Damn, you're right. The mp3 file (for the boot sound) will download it seems, but the actual boot animation links me to 4shared and says 'the file link is no longer valid', or something like that. Maybe look thru that thread and see if there are any mirror's posted in it? I got nothing to do, I'll take a gander for ya in a sec.
EDIT: I found it. Check out post #40 in that thread. I just downloaded it. The download works fine. If you want the sound, the link in the OP looks like it works, if not, I saw two other mirrors for the MP3 sound somewhere between post 10 and 40.
BTW, that download is not flashable. you'll need to put the file where it goes. It's easy, especially if you know a little adb, it'll take 20 seconds. If not, using root explorer or ES file explorer can get the job done.
EDIT2: attatched the animation for you.
i'll take a look as well, don't want you to be having all the fun
Its in there, page 4 or 5
damn it its not flashable.
gotta learn how to do it the other way now
Root explorer works great-sweet find!

Couple quick questions to help me help you get it installed.
1) What rom are you currently on
2) Do you have a root level file explorer such as Root Explorer, or ES File explorer?
3) Do you have adb set up to use on your computer?
4) If you're on a sense rom, I might be able to make a flashable zip for you, let me know.

Ooops. I forgot to edit the sound file. Sorry. I can edit and re upload it, or all you'd need to do is open up the zip you downloaded. Click the folder that says system. then click customize. then click resource. then you'll see the bootanimation.zip and the mp3 file. rename the mp3 file to SPC_animation_final. Or it might be spc_animation_final. I forget if the spc is capitals or not. It's one or the other. Then reflash it.
Edit> and what do you mean that was the fastest bootloader? The fastest it's ever booted up you mean? confused.

Once you edited it, flash it again. And also, as I said, I don't remember if it's spc_animation_final or if it's SPC_animation_final. And I may have not been clear, but make sure that when you renamed it, you left the .mp3 extension on the file. It needs to be there.
yeah i know. flashing now. 1 min bud
i tried deleting the boot up file...
And for the boot up sound how do I change that?
sgs tools doesnt work...
First off are you rooted? Second are you running a custom rom? If these apply then it should be as easy as replacing the bootanimation.zip file of your choice in the "system/media" folder.

You need a kernel/rom that supports bootanimation.zip
The stock/touchwiz based roms use a .qmg file for the animation instead.
Also the images in the bootanimation.zip would need to be modified for our resolution 400*800 as opposed to the 1280*720 of the Nexus.
The bootanimation.zip is already available for 400*800 devices & I can confirm it works beautifully on CM7

Sounds reasonable

Do not assume, no it is not a flashable .zip, you will need to manually insert to system/etc/media/
I usually rename the existing one to bootanimation.zip.bak just in case.....

Hi,
I have made this custom boot image for myself and I wanted to share it.
I have disabled the bootanimation and I have enabled the kernel messages instead.
just flash the boot image and remove/rename /system/bin/bootanimation
if anyone is willing to help I would create an update zip which flashes the boot partition and renames /system/bin/bootanimation
Cheers,
Matteo

I really don't think so! This is as far as I know a modified Galaxy nexus boot image.
The thread was moved to "Galaxy Nexus Themes and Apps" but I don't really think that it's correct.
Tecnically it isn't a boot animation, is a kernel hack to disable it and show the "raw" boot.
Everything that is printed is printed by the TTY subsystem, it's not rendered by a bootanimation
this is awesome. I disabled my boot animation and it only shows the kernel messages for a few seconds then a plain android boot animation appears. Is there any way to make it longer or is that all that is supposed to come up?
i am on aokp b37 also.
good work!
@teknoraver
I would like to add this as a completely new section in my boot animation thread if that's cool??
Couple of clarifications though:
This looks more like a kernel edit to me and therefore this is somewhat ROM specific in that if folks flash this boot.img it will disable certain ROM specific features controlled by the kernel?
Assuming the above is true, a per ROM boot.img would need to be created to make this work whilst preserving all functionality?
To give an example, if you flash a custom kernel over cm9 you will find some of the settings options are blanked out and you are no longer able to use them unless you have a specific kernel control app or you start fiddling around with init.d scripts.
This sounds kind of like "live logcat", is it similar?

No it's different.
Livelogcat is a bootanimation which draws logcat messages in a complex manner.
My patch disables the animation and let the kernel print messages like it does on PC and servers:

Here, flashable zip in recovery
Using any kernel format installer (koush) does not touch the existing ramdisk (no problem on CM etc)
and Kernel.Messages.bootanimation_Restore.zip reverting /system/bin/bootanimation
(Edit : If you deleted that file already, flash Installing_system.bin.bootanimation.zip to restore)

I have seen a few threads looking for this.
Edit: This is for Deodexed TW roms. If you are running a custom rom that doesn't already have this but has made changes to the android.policy.jar file you may have issues. I just reflashed this on my phone to verify since 2 users have reported issues and it flashed fine just before taking the attached screenshot.
Here is the walk through I followed to help me get it built
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1573032
I posted the android.policy.jar file from MC2 that I changed with the help of that walk through and viperboys MA7 flash file in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2288362
I have also attached a flashable zip to this thread
As always flash at your own risk and make sure to backup before changing anything
Flashed this after doing a backup, phone won't even boot now.
This is for Stock Deodexed roms. I have flashed this on my phone, 2 other local friends and a user on this forum has also flashed it. If you had any other mods that changed the android.policy.jar file which this changes that could have caused your issue.

It didn't work. When you hold the power button it just goes to the Samsung boot screen and freezes. Worth a try though. For now, I just created a shortcut/widget with Desktop Visualizer and Rom Toolbox. You can create a shortcut that will show a boot menu. If you want a quick tutorial just let me know.
