Hi,
I've recently just smashed the front screen of my htc one x, the lcd is fine its just the outer glass (digitizer?) touch screen still works its just cracked. badly.
I noticed that on ebay they sell just the glass part for £10 and they sell the lcd and glass for £40 I obviously want to go for the cheapest option.
How do i got about removing and replacing the cracked glass with the £10 glass?

You don't you will destroy the LCD when you take the touch pannel off. My advice pay for it be repaired it will save you money on the long term

through eBay can be bought separately just glass, so it's not true that from one part

Amoled is so thin that it is impossible to attach it to glass seperately. When I cracked my amoled, I bought a complete set. After removing the cracked part, I observed the amoled, it is kind of glued to the glass with some circuit(digitizer and led controllers i think) making them impossible to sell them seperately.

I just dropped my Xperia Play and the front glass cracked. I was going to buy a new housing case on ebay but now I'm confused about what I actually need and how to repair it.
This is the item I saw on ebay (Full housing case). Judging by the pics it seemed to me that the front cover comes with a glass already?, but then another search gave me the result for a touch screen digitizer (Touch Screen Digitizer).
Are there 2 different glasses on the Xperia Play? or what's the purpose of the glass appearing on the first link?
Then I found this manual (Installing-Sony-Xperia-Play-Digitizer/7593/4) where they say we need to use a heat gun to remove the glass from the frame. Is that heat gun really required and do we need to glue the glass back to the frame? Any idea which glue could I use for that?

I think I'm right on this, the housing is just that, the housing. The "glass thats on there is only meant to protect the digitizer. which is the thing that reads where your fingers are.
I understand even less now. I've been scratching my broken glass to see if what I had broken was the glass that appears to be part of the housing in the 1st link or the digitizer, and I'd say that it's the digitizer and there's no any other kind of glass that belongs to the frame!
I'm starting to think that the 1st picture on ebay is kind of misleading and that glass that appears there doesn't really exist?
I'd like to know where I can get the glue also.

I sold a touch screen digitizer some time ago on eBay. I have seen them for around $30 and yes from what I have seen the housing is just the bordering around Tue touch screen digitizer. I would try searching eBay for that. The one I had I bought from hing Kong and it worked jsmust fine.

Ah ok, thank you. The picture of the housing is not very good then as it seems that it's got a glass that goes on top of the digitizer...
Did you replace the screen as well? Any suggestion about a good product I could use to glue it back to the frame?

Be advised the digitizer is glued to the screen bordering. I do not know what glue it is. Sorry.

the only thing i found about the galaxy nexus is that you have to replace the glass, the digitaiser and the lcd together (180 dollars)
so is it just a scam?

I wouldnt buy that. Its coming from China, it isnt an official spare part, probably wont even fit. The phone probably wasnt even designed to have only the outer screen replaced without the digitizer and LCD being replaced too.

Is there a way to replace just the top of the glass. I have a few scratches on my screen no cracks but they bug the hell out of me

You can but its extremely expensive as you have to replace the entire lcd/digitizer assembly. You could just buy and replace the digitizer but since its fused to the lcd, you will most likely crack the lcd in the process. So either sell it and get another one if it really bothers you and cant live with the scratches or maybe try putting on a screen protector that might hide the scratches.
Some time ago i dropped my s4 mini and screen was cracked.. only the glass was cracked. Lcd was fine touch was fine I got it repaired from a local shop and it cost 6500 PKR. Now i again cracked the glass. Plzz tell me can only the glass be replaced because it cracked for the second time but all working so now will it be easy to replace only glass ?? Plz if there is any pakistani then help me....

No you can't replace only the screen glass. Both glass and touch is the single piece.
Sorry for that, in the future buy sone cover for protection.
