Samsung Smart Dock Help - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I Want To But The Samsung Smart Dock For My Note 2 GT-N7100 But Wanted To Know If I Could Have The HDMI Working On My TV While Having A Movie Play Directly From A USB Hooked Up To 1 Of The 3 Ports ? Would That Be Possible Or Does It Take Too Much Power To Run Both HDMI & USB OTG Simultaneously ?

[Q] Q Phone to TV

Hey Guys,
Is it in any way possible to connect my Galaxy note to my Samsung tv, so that i can see exactly whats being displayed on the phone screen?
It may be silly, but my 3 year old son wants to play games on the tv with the accelerometer from the phone?
So i thought i could maybe connect the phone to my tv with a usb to hdmi cable, and display whats on the screen on my tv at the same time?
If such a cable exists, could you please point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance...
google for mhl to hdmi
I have one of these...

Works great. Note that unless your TV supports the MHL standard (and very few do), you will have to supply microUSB power to the cable (i.e. using the phone charger).

My TV has a USB socket which provides power so I hook that up so my MHL cable and don't need to bring anymore equipment to the TV (power adapters/battery packs)

All in one kit?

Hello!
I am currently dreaming for 1 accessory which is capable of doing many things without using that much cables etc.
Do you know if there is an all in one accessory or any way to do USB host of mouse AND keyboard, microusb to recharge the phone and a MHL exit?
I just tried with a multi-usb hub and the usb host of the galaxy s3 was capable to give power to:
- my razer blackwidow ultimate (with leds shut down)
- my mouse
- an external audio board
- a lil electric oven.
And everything was smooth.
Now my idea would be to use the MHL to connect the phone to the TV, the keyboard and the mouse to the phone, whilst recharging.
I'm asking because I don't have a bluetooth mouse/keyboard since I've always been an hardcore gamer
I thought of this one:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/mobile-fun-connection-kit-for-samsung-galaxy-s3-p35462.htm
But I'm not sure that the mhl would work with that microusb port, and even if it works I loose the opportunity of using the host function :/
Any idea?
To my knowledge MHL and usb OTG can not be used simultaneously, however you can buy the wireless AllShare Cast Dongle to transmit video wirelessly and output over hdmi and use the usb OTG cable to connect to the usb hub (preferably externaly powered, as in the hub has its own power supply) and connect to it what you need. But , correct me if i'm wrong, you still won't be able to charge your phone while using usb OTG.

Well that destroys my hopes
Actually the easiest way seems to use bluetooth mouse/keyboard and a mhl adapter which also recharges the phone.. Meh
Anyone else with some ideas?
MHL and USB Hosting CAN be used simultaneously on the Galaxy S III. That is why Samsung changed the pin layout from 5 to 11. That is why the Galaxy S II MHL Cables won't work with the S III.
Samsung Galaxy S® III uses an 11-pin micro USB input, which allows it to support MHL output and USB on-the-go input simultaneously – an improvement over 5-pin capability

I've been looking for a all in one cable for my american Galaxy S III for a while and the one you linked is the best match I've found so far.
Here is a link to a post I wrote about it on the U.S. Galaxy S III forums. I'm thinking they added this functionality for a future desktop mode.

Did you make any progress?
I'm looking forward into this.
I'm receiving my official mhl adapter in 3-4 days

[Q] about Multi-Media Dock

Was wondering for those who have the dock... is it possible to use a wired mouse via the usb port, or does it have to be bluetooth??
i have a wired mouse but it doesn't pick it up.
When i plug in a usb device be it a mouse or HDD it won't register it.
Thanks.
btw running omega rom v10.
for those that think im on about a regular dock, it's the 'smart dock'
From Samsung's website:
"Connect an HD monitor, external storage device, and USB keyboard and mouse to turn your smartphone into a productivity powerhouse. "
So it must work...somehow
Good luck. Am trying to find a Smartdock myself, they seem unavailable.
Works with mine. .It should work. ....also makes the phone screen off as soon as you connect the mouse... when connected to tv .. nice touch by Samsung
Did you connect the power supply. ..it also needs it
scribbled from my note 2 (N7100)
I connect the hdmi from dock to tv. Then stock usb to mini usb cable dock to tv
Right?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Only if your tv usb provides power. Otherwise just connect the usb to your phone charger
It's not the usb cable. .. is the charging cable. ..connect it to wall charging

screen mirroring app to TV via LAN

hi folks
Is it possible to screen mirror image from my phone (SII 4.0.4 ) to a Samsung 32C5000 TV via LAN ? I'm looking for fomething like screenshare or smartview , btw these do not working with my tv. Allshare doesn;t have any of these options just playing files. It would be really cool to play virtua tennis / nes games with usb controller on the tv.
I'm also interested in this. But I have a Samsung Smart TV Series 8. I have tried searching all over, but I never found a way...

You could just get an mhl cable???
The idea is to use the gamepad in the microUSB port with an OTG adapter so MHL isn't an option. Also wireless offers some form of freedom meaning I'm not limited to using cables.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller bluetooth ps3 controller and mhl?
Currently I have a Logitech Dual Action which is USB cabled but I am considering about buying that ps3 controller.
Can you tell me what's the difference between these two adapters?

2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Black-M..._MobilePhoneDataCables_JN&hash=item41729ff31c
Number 1 looks right
Number 2 is an adapter to turn the s3's micro USB port into an s2's, as Samsung changed the way mhl worked on s3 so you couldn't use s2 mhl cable
Just so you're aware mhl requires stock ROM and the cable must be connected to a power source as well to work.
Hmm ,.I think I'll buy the first but what if I decide to change my phone? Will it work with another Android S3 or maybe some HTC dunno ?
No problem regarding firmware as I am not a fan of custom roms.
The cable won't work on s3 as the cable is 5 pins and s3 is something like 12 but there's adapters available like number 2
Screen mirroring is possible
screen mirroing is capable in phones Galaxy s3 and above and it can be easily ported in galaxy s2 if neatROM develpoers thinks its a worthy feature like they did in feature (Multi - Window) which was also supported in phones Galaxy s3 and above...

[Q] How to use mhl / otg?

I have the official samsung mhl cable an it works it mirrors my screen to the tv but is there a way i can connect a mouse an or keyboard with my OTG cable an use a mouse to control the mirrored image of the phone on the tv?
there is a smart dock for the note 2, which has HDMI and USB ports:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/31/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-smart-dock-turns-a-big-phone-into-a-desktop/
And if a dock is not good for you, you can always buy a bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo
