Found a miui camera apk for the Amaze that works pretty well on our phones (no video though). Thought I would share it.
Link: Miui Camera
I find I can take better quality photos with the miui app which seems to have a better ability to handle exposure settings, and produces better quality images (especially in macro) than the stock app. I know a lot of people hate the miui camera but I'm not one of them.

Just wondering - is the Samsung camcorder disabled using this app? Is it possible to use the MIUI camera and Samsung camcorder.....
Of course It won't overwrite the stock camera app. You can still use the stock one at any time.

Lower ISO is normally better... ISO 100 would be best. Low ISO's and Low light won't work though....pictures will be blurry.

Ucam has lot of options, it's a really underrated app...
By the way I don't think there is an app which will give you better quality results than the stock one.
You just have to compare the image quality of the preview (i mean before taking a photo/video) of the stock camera with any other thirdy app. Except the stock one, all of them are showing some kind of granulated image

I've tried them all, but none of then have a touch-to-focus. I have seen one called Camera FV-5, which is more professional, but I'm wondering if anyone here would be so kind to test it to see if it's worth the price tag.
Thank you.

Procapture gives you the capability to shot with volume rocker (only pro version)
And another good app is fast burst camera

Better stick with the stock camera. It's the best afaik.

I'm using it right now and you get so many options! Totally worth it, i've wasted so much money trying out good camera apps and the best ones are HDR Camera+, Afterfocus and Camera FV-5 being the best one.

Try Vignette , it have few nice Features
Try LG Camera I've always found that one pretty good
JB stock camera
Question always should be:
What types of images do you want to take. For just party-shots you wont need a paid app...
Try using camera zoom FX. it has touch to focus and pinch to zoom. I am using it on my 4.1.1 ROM
Sent from my GT-I9100G using xda app-developers app
Try Camera360, it free with many effect and custom
+1 for LGCamera (lot of options, fix for bad chip recording for S2) and default JB stock camera (nice GUI and features)...
I find the Jelly Bean stock camera to be excellent, as if you fix the focus it captures pretty much instantly.

So thats why i switched to stock
But i want the hdr camera on stock rom too :/

You want the hdr camera but complain that it wastes too much power... Decide if it's worth it and use it (or not). This question has nothing to do with xda or i9100.

HDR camera is free to download from GooglePlay anyone on any ROM can have it.
When I have used Cm10.1, I always find an app camera that have a quality as good as cybershot but all of apps can't satisfy me. Vignette is an app that have a quality close to cybershot but it is very slow when saving a picture.
Now, I try lenovo camera app. It is great, the picture is as good as cybershot. A small bug is you can't see your scene that you want to take a picture ( a black screen with all functions you can touch and choose). Help anyone here can fix it?
Note : it only work on android 4.1+.
My internet is bad now so I will share link app in 24h or you can find in xda forum, maybe it have. Please, don't delete this thread in 24h.
Sorry for my bad English

If you have KK, this looks very nice. I can't wait to get KK so I can try this!

The DSLR camera included in the Sphinx RadeonMaya remod is a great camera. I don't really care about the camera in a phone but I've noticed a huge difference between DSLR, the AOSP camera, and Jishnu's camera mod.

You are talking about this being in a 4.4 ROM, correct? Do you have a link to this exact thread? Quite a few threads with a "RadeonMaya" search.
Thanks

I doubt it's in the PStore. A quick search should tell you. My guess is that it's included in a ROM. which would mean flashing the phone.
I'm probably going to wait on US 4.4 update. Even though I've flashed quite a few phones with great success, all were Samsung phones. LG's seem to be a little more picky with flashing and too many stories of people trying to flash Korean 4.4 getting softbricks.
