I am having an issue with my phone connecting to my home wifi. If I run a aosp, aokp or cm Rom, my phone will not connect to my wifi with a password. It will say connecting, then it seems to hang on authenticating, and then loops back to disconnected. Before I try to connect, my wifi will show up with full 'bars' but when I press connect it shows as only one bar, even if I hold it next to my wifi router.
I reset my router to factory defaults by holding the reset button and then my phone will connect to the open wifi network, but as soon as I put it back to require a password, it loops again. I've tried different security, like wep, wpa1, wpa2 and no matter what it will not connect.
My phone connects fine on touchwiz. I'm one hundred percent sure I've entered the password correctly. I'm one hundred percent sure that I've flashed/wiped etc correctly. I even reverted back to stock rooted using Odin and started the whole process of flashing wiping from scratch.
I would love some insight. I've searched the forum and Google looking for a answer, maybe I've overlooked something? Any help anybody can give would be outstanding. Thank you in advance!

Try wiping data, clearing cache and dalvik, then going to mounts and storage and formatting /system, then going the Rom.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've done this, before a fresh Rom install as well as after booting into android and seeing the lack of connection.

Have you tried flashing a custom kernel? Your phone might not play nicely with the built in AOSP kernels.

I have tried various kernels for roms I've attempted to use. For instance, on slimbean I tried the recommended kernel for that rom. For paranoid I tried that recommended kernel. I tried the cm10.1 release candidate last night, without a kernel. Can you recommend one for cm10.1?

Ktkernel or leankernel are 2 very good kernels but make sure your Rom is compatible. If custom kernels don't do the trick, try just waiting. I've had WiFi issues on cm10 and they disappeared after a few hours. Also try a custom TouchWiz rom and see if the problem persists.

you can lose your wifi simply by holding the left side while its sideways and if your holding the top as you type on it. I just simply cant connect to wifi anymore im on stock rooted rom i might try a full wipe with a new rom/kernel

I'm having some issues. I am on Incredible HD RLS 2, I haven't been able to get on WiFi and this isn't the only ROM where WiFi isn't working. It will just never connect. Well, I tried to install ICS Official global CM9 upon initial boot it said it couldn't read my SIM. I powered down pulled the SIM put it back in and put the phone back together and then I couldn't get any service. No matter what I did I have no service.
Yes I followed all the instructions, wiped everything, flashed the proper gapps and the kernel.
Since that didn't work I went back to my nand and still no service. Anyone have any suggestions?? Please help
On global cm9 rum through setup and change network mode to cdma/evdo becuz it defaults to gsm
I'm so fresh you can suck my nits...
Will give it a shot, thanks.

Awesome, got service back, but WiFi is still not working. It just forever searches and never connects to a network. Anyone have any ideas?
This happens to me sometimes and restarting my router usually clears it up, not sure if you have tried that, just throwing it out there.
I can't reset the router, I'm on a college campus. I have the latest firmware and radios, switched out rom after Rom and still WiFi doesn't work. Any other suggestions?

Keep getting Greyed out connection have to clear cache and data returns. It says I have full bars but no actual data. What's the issue?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
What version of the ROMs are you running? The grey bar as opposed to the blue bar just means you are not connected to your Google account. You should see a logo above the bars saying 4G, H, or 3G if you have data, regardless of the color.
There is a known issue in the latest cm10.1 nightly builds that cause loss of data. Not sure about AOKP unfortunately.

There are various fixes for the data issue that people have reported success with - re-flashing modems, toggling the mobile data setting repeatedly, playing with APN settings (turn off mobile data, reboot phone, toggle APN setting to something else and back, re-enable mobile data), etc.
Have you looked through the 4.2 threads here?

I would say wipe and reflash. I don't think anyone on Tasks ROM is having this issue. I for one know I'm not. Are you on his latest 12.23 version?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
It's definitely not specific to any rom it happens on aosp roms no matter who makes it. I will try a re flash but I have done that plenty times. I its honestly random and then requires a reboot

I have had a similiar problem in the past and couldn't find a fix. I looked for a good bit but had other options i wanted to try anyway so the answer is probably out there. However after i flashed a the next newest version things were ok. That shouldn't be long in this case and hopefully it works for you.

Just about every time my phone deep sleeps, wifi shuts off completely. I've tried multiple roms and kernels, and every advanced wife setting combination possible. Thinking it's a hardware issue in which case bye bye nexus.
I've googled and googled and only really found suggestions like "uncheck wifi optimization" or "make sure turn wifi off while sleeping is (un)checked". Tried all of that, and still persists.
Anyone else have this issue, or can someone give me an out of the box tip?
Thanks

You've probably already tried this, but have you tried a full wipe? Also, have you tried wiping you device's internal memory (SD card), and have you tried reverting to complete stock and starting over?
its a known issue with 4.2.2 roms, nothing much you can do about it, temporarily it can work but problem will repeat itself
I have done a full wipe, but not wiped the sd card, or reverted to stock. Hoping to avoid such a tedious task.
So my options are either suck it up, revert to a 4.1 rom, or get a new phone?
Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion, let me try and report back later to see if this works.
This problem has been constantly bugging me that I want to dump this phone. Seriously disappointed with Google over all these bugs...
but I keep wifi optimization off... should I keep it on?
If you are unlocked, you can flash some custom kernels to fix the problem. I use Fancy Kernel and the developer included a fix in the kernel.

Work-around for Wifi drops (Kernel specific)
After fiddling with the Wifi Optimisation, I would like to report back that it DOESN'T WORK.
Hey everybody!
Currently I am running the Lifeless v14 Rom on my phone and the phone will not connect to a WiFi connection. After I input the password it just goes to saved but will not connect. I have tried with multiple connections and different ROMs and it only does this on stock based ROMs. I would appreciate any help, thanks in advanced.

If you haven't figured this out yet, maybe this will work.
ZVB has some issues with WiFi. Turn WiFi off, reboot phone, then check to see if Wi-Fi stayed off. If it stayed off, then you should just be able to turn it on and it should work. If it turned itself back on, turn it off, reboot, and more it should work.
If you have a tethering app, that will mess with WiFi. You can only run one or the other per reboot.

I think I tried it before but I'll try it again since I reflashed. I haven't installed any apps whatsoever so I know there is nothing that should be regulating my WiFi connection. Also whenever I tap on Connection Optimizer it says "Setup has not finished yet. Please try again later." I don't know how long I need to wait, it's been a few hours now..
Scratch that, turning off the connections optimizer didn't work.

Did you ever get this sorted out? I've been having the same problem for the last week. I ended up going back to stock ZVB but it's still not working. I tried updating the radio, zeroing and reflashing my EFS but no luck.
