[Q] HTC one xl - HTC One X

I am with Orange (UK) and I just got an HTC One XL! I previously had a One X and it overheated and the soft keys broke. I got a One XL as a replacement as the One X was out of stock. Is the only difference the fact that it is LTE/4g?

It's also dual core. And therefore possible to S-OFF.

you can't flash any international tegra 3 ROMs anymore

And you need to go to another part of the forum now. Its the AT&T, rogers, HTC one XL forum

I had assumed all of these, minus the S-OFF thing. So that's all good. Thanks so much guys. Sucks though, I really enjoyed the normal one x forum.

[Q] is One X = XL when rooting, installing rom, etc

Hi,
I plan to buy XL instead of HOX. (I am in Singapore, Singtel offers HOX and XL)
i have 2 questions:
1. Can I apply all the modifications intended for HOX to XL?
2. If no, I dont see any forum for XL, Do you recommend to get HOX instead?
I think XL has LTE, so the ROMs of HOX will not fit and probably rooting is not the same because the XL is in this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1538
The AT&T One X forum is for the phone internationally known as the One XL. The One XL has different hardware and radios, so none of the stuff made for the One X will be compatible.
It was pretty stupid of AT&T (and HTC) to call the AT&T version One X. AT&T One X is clearly a OneXL variant (they are not identical). HTC One X (the global one) is completely different hardware.
So there are 3 phones, 2 very similar (dualcores, AT&T and One XL) and 1 completely diff (quad-core tegra3).
One XL vs AT&T One X(L).

As per your original question, if modifications are very important to you, do first look in "AT&T One X/OneXL" forum and see how the rom scene looks over there. From rom development standpoint, international OneX is better bet but personal opinion, One XL is better phone (sadly not available here in Norway).

One XL released much later, but I agree
There were rumours about XL but I didn't think it would come that fast and would had wait for it.
And its the same story with other phones, like Galaxy S3. AT&T version is a dual-core qualcomm s4 based instead of a quadcore. What the hell is wrong with this carrier?
A few years ago htc/samsung renamed their phones for usa, with different look/exterior but same hardware (desire/droid incredible, hero/eris, sensation/amaze/vivid, galaxy s/vibrant/fascinate etc).
And now they go out of their way to have different hardware that looks identical with exact same name..
Thanks.
I guess I better choose HOX over XL.
4G is new in this area,
and development of XL pretty slow and boring, i think.
I posted same question in AT&T forum, till now nobody reply and give the difference.
I found many active roms developer here.
Roms are lovelier here, and more to choose from.
I read more problems, than fixes and good news over there.
no i dont think so,
both have different specs..
btw is it out yet the XL in singapore?how much did it cost?
I have few clarifications to help me decide if a certain rom (or rooting instruction) is applicable to my phone.
(because I dont know if HOX from ATT is applicable to XL from Singtel.)
Lets say I want to do rooting or install custom rom;
What are the BASIC criteria in order for me to say that this rom (or rooting instruction) is applicable to my phone and it wont brick it (if it may brick it)?
What should I check first?
. cpu type? (dual core, quad core?, S4, tegra? where can I find this specs in my phone)
. Firmware version? (1.72, 1.85, 1.?? How do I check again)
. radio??
AFAIK radio is different between ATT and XL (international),
but is ROM still applicable on both even if radio is different?
What the hell/difference of Rogers HTC one X by the way?
I appreciate the response.
General consensus from reviews on the web say XL or Snapdragon One X are faster than Tegra One Xs and are better at battery life.
Community of the S4 seems growing every day I am sure it will have plenty of development, already it has most of the same tweaks as with Tegra ones.
I also was undecided as both work on my country. However, I decided for the Tegra one due to:
1. Easier bootloader unlocking vs AT&T One X
2. Cheaper than imported Rogers/Telus unlocked One X
3. Tegra Zone games: I am not a gamer but I am enjoying the quality of Tegra games
4. Resale value: yes in my country most people will prefer a QuadCore 32 MB than a Dual Core 16 MB phone . They dont know the story behind it unless they are geeks so resale value will hold over time vs SGS3.

AT&T (and every other LTE carrier) has to use dual core s4 versions of CPU because quad core exynos and tegra3 dont support LTE.
They are now using different hardware with exact same names probably to avoid customer confusion and having 10 variants of the same phone.

Excellent point, and yes I believe you are right. However I doubt having 2 different hardwares with same name is any less confusing.

This is true to an extent. I believe tegra does support lte but it requires a separate modem whereas with the s4 the LTE modem is part of the SoC already.
Tbh I would prefer the s4 chip as it rapes the tegra in most benchmarks and battery is better. Htc and nvidia are full of crap, the companion core and all the other "battery saving" tweaks htc implemented (like completely breaking multitasking) are pointless as they just try to make up for the fact htc short changed us with the size of the battery in the HOX. The battery life still sucks.. They should have just put a bigger battery in in the first place a la galaxy s3.. /rant

Learn to read the specs. HTC One XL has dual core and HTC One X has quadcore

I can t read the specs
Coz there are no spces...
Noone wrote them
If it says HTC one xl its the dual core version. Can't you just ask the seller?
Sent from my fauxed HOX running CMX Alpha 2 by tbalden
I know the specs
And he doesn t know
They are aesthetically equals
There should be something aesthetically different
For ex. I saw two unboxing
One x black and one x white
A box says : I m the ONE you ve been waiting for
While an other box says: htc one x 720p camera etc...
Then i saw one xl unboxing
And the instruction manual says your htc one x!!!!!!! Even if it s one xl!!
The manual is the same for they both -.-
Htc is relly stupid >.>

Specifications are clearly printed on the box, ask the seller to read the box . If he doesn’t have the box then ask him to go to Settings > About > Hardware Information, the processor type is listed there as well. AT&T One X and international One XL (x325s) support 4G LTE while the international Quad core One X (s720e) does not. There are many ways to tell the two apart, I don't see what the big problem is. If the seller doesn’t even know what he is selling, then blame him for his stupidity (Not HTC for using the same design)! Don't ever rely on the physical appearance when buying electronics, there are so many fakes and clones. Always go by specifications and model number/product code, especially when buying from individuals or auctions. Because there are many Chinese clones out there as well.

[Q] Have I got my facts straight?

So, after years of loving my trusty HD2, I finally decided to upgrade to something new, and I've gotten myself an HTX One X+.
After doing quite a lot of reading here I *think* I have a grip on things (more or less) but would appreciate some confirmation (or, of course, please correct me if I'm wrong)...
The one x+ is pretty much the same thing as the quad core one x and as I understand it, I can...
Sim unlock using one of the many online services to get a code
Get a semi s-off from htcdev that will allow me to install clockwork recovery and custom roms
get root through either a custom rom or the method described here in the forums
And that's pretty much it until a complete s-off method is found
Does that sound about right or am I missing something?
I've spent a lot of time reading but these things are not always clear to me so I thought it safer to ask before trying anything.
Any advice or input is appreciated. thanks!
one x+ is more advanced than one x...
one x+
1.7ghz processor(upgrade from dual core chip)
(internal storage)*2 of one x(64 GB)
2100mAh battery
1.6MP front camera
one x
1.5ghz
32GB
1800mAh
1.3MP
even when u have s-on,u can install custom roms and custom recoveries.
get rooted through process described in forums.
Sounds about right.
Please check One X+ forums.

[Q] questions about the one X+

Hey,
I've recently switched back to android and im now looking into the next phone I want. At the moment, I'm looking into the one X+ as I assume it is capable of running the MIUI OS that the One X runs.
My questions is, is it possible to run the HTC One X version of MIUI on the ONE X+? (BTW, im referring to the international/European versions)

Do the HTC One X ROMS work on the One X+?

Just as the title says.
I have the HTC One X+ and notice there are a lot more tons for the HTC One X than the One X+ and would like to try them
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
If they did they would be in the same section.
People who have almost identical phones (The One XL) almost brick their devices trying our ROMs.
Don't even try.

The HOX+ and HOX are nigh on identical, internally and externally. But there are minor variations, probably mostly in the way the phone identifies itself to software, but I believe there are differences in the internal partition structure that make the 2 devices incompatible in terms of ROM's.
I don't think I would take the chance of bricking it.
That said...adaptation of any HOX ROM to the HOX+ should be a relatively minor enterprise. Might want to look into porting one.
the cpu is a lil bit another then in the hox and hboot etc is not completely the same...the things which aren't the same are really really small...so don't try...you or another dev could try to port...that would work...
