[Q] Messaging adding 1 to 10 digit number - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I am having a problem with messaging (texts) in that if I type in a 10 digit number, when I try to send the message, it is adding a 1 to it and so the text fails. This only happens on numbers I input manually. It is not happening to contacts I have, or to folks I have already sent/received texts.
This happens whether I am using the stock Messaging app or Chomp or other messaging apps.
The error I get is: Error Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code
I am typing in a valid 10 digit number, i.e. 512-555-1212, but when it sends it is attempting 15125551212.
Any help would sure be appreciated.

Go to your messaging app and hit the munue button. There should be an option in that menue to take that off

There is no option in settings for this, not in Chomp or the stock Messaging app - at least not that I have found.

K I think I found it.. go to dialer, press menu button then press additional setting then find this toggle.. give that a try

Can i make Contacts the default when I phone?

if i press the Phone button it takes me to the dial keypad with the Call History in the background. Is there a way to make it default to Contacts instead as this is nicely sorted into alphabetic order?
If they are contacts you dial often, they will be the first results that will appear when you start to type either their name, initials or number.
Otherwise leave the people app on your home screen and use that.
I don't know of any option to do what you want unless its through root which I haven't done.

Ec05 stupid question adding a contact. Gf having trouble

I'm not at the same place as the phone so bear with me. How do you add a contact in ec05. I could figure it out in seconds if i had the phone in my hand so i'm operating blind. The obvious of go to contact program them hit menu key then add contact, she says there's no option to add contact. She's used to di18 way of doing things. Did it change?

May have to re-sync her accounts. I saw someone else post that after the update they had to re-login to their Google account.
Already been done.
When you placing a call you can save it right before you hit call
also after call is ask do you want to add as contact
or go to call log press on that number dialed and at the bottom it ask "add to contact"
All she has to do is go to contacts, and next to the search there is a + button. Tell her to press this and that's how to add a contact.

Yeah, she finally figured it out. Kinda wierd for it to not be like the old one of go to dialer and enter phone number. Right above that it says + add contact. I will have to look at it later but she said you can't bring up contacts program then menu key then add contact. That makes no logical sense to me.
The plus sign mentioned above is one way but also on mine with EC05 I pull up the dialer and enter a number and directly below the number just entered is a bar that says "add to contacts"

To get VVM to work in the 1st place I had to use Titanium Backup and back it up from a ROM (I used Synergy) that it was working on. Then I restored it on this ROM and it works perfect... I just get that annoying text as well... When I called that number it did set up the service and I had to dial *38 to disable all call forwarding and reactivate my VMM... (followed directions from the Sprint website) and that worked... Just dont know how to disable the text as it appears not to be a valid number to block.

What texting app are you using? Because if you were using handcent, you should be able to blacklist it.

Go to your messages inbox. Click on the title bar at the top that says messages and has an arrow. You should see a drop down with three options "general" "secure" and "block" click on block and it'll take you to your blocked inbox. Hit menu then click on block list. Add 9016 to block list then click done. Now go back to your messages inbox and hit menu and click on settings, click on "general" and scroll to the bottom, you should see "save blocked messages" unselect the box. That should fix it for you!
Oh, and just a heads up, if you have never used the secure or blocked inboxes, it will have you set up a password when you click on "blocked" in the dropdown menu.

Old dialed numbers stored?

In the dialer on the phone app if you dial a partial number it will show you when you click the down arrow every number I've called even if not in my phone book or in my call log, how can I clear those?
Thanks

Try going to app manager in settings and clear data for dialer. Make sure to export your contacts first though just in case they are connected somehow. That should clear the glitches

[Q] How to delete number in search

So I texted someone that I'm not suppose to as per my GF. So I go into message and delete the log. But the number still shows when I dial a number. For example if I type in the keypad 60455 the whole number would show up 6045557777. I need to get rid any trace of the number. Thanks in advance

Please bare with me, I just upgraded from the Galaxy S. The number is not in the call log which is different from the S. When I used to text I would need to clear both the message and the call log. But now with the S3, the call log does not record text history. But when I try to dial a number manually, the number that I texted (I cleared the message log) shows up.

Take a screen shot of what it looks like. I don't have this issue but I'm not on stock either. When you take the screen shot make sure to blur out the number.
