Mic doesnt work on video recording - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I dont know if its my phone. Or the 50% increase mod. But I had the problem out of no where.on md1 peoples rom. And I did selected the increase when flashing peoples rom using morphology
I did a clean md4 flash. Then wiped amd flashed wicked sensations. I flashed the volume mod alone after wicked senaations. I honestly didnt even think to chrck when I went back to stock.
Just curious if anyone had this.problem. and if it was the volume mod or the hardware, before.I go resetting to stock. When I record a video amd play back all I hear is a lot of wooshing like a constant wind sound..and it doesny pick up any sounds or voices in the room I'm recording in. Gosh I hope.its nit hardware.and I have to go back to my poor seen it share of troubles epic while best buy fixes...ugh
Um edit haha I grew a brain and voice recording app works so this problem is just restricted.to the.camera video recording as far as I can see...sorry finals made me little phone noob like

hmmm du you have restarted your phone?
i dont know but hopefully a fullwipe can help ?

I have flash back to md4 deodexed.zip. before flashing I wiped factory reset. Yhen for kicks and giggles indivdually wiped cache dalvik and data...then system...then flashed the md4 above
Rebooted after letting everything update
Same problem...video cam only with messed up mic...doesn't pic up amy sounds...just that windy sound. While voice recorder does work
I am not up to speed like I use d to be witu my moment and somewhat with epic. Life got too busy lol
So i don't know folder set up well anymore. I formatted sysyem and then flashed mdr deodexed. I figured this would fix any file that may have incorrected modified by a sound hack..however problem still persists...are there certain folders not touch by system format or the md4 that has camera info?
Also is there anything a md4 tar file might format more completely vs a flashable zip of md4?
Just trying to isolate where camera settings are modded because its got to be something that can be fixed if voice recrder is working....grrrrr.

Bump...could really use some help...mic only nit working for video recording. I looked through features in csc folder and didn't see anything about camera mic ...looked around at other folders/files...any suggestions
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium

If you have Flashed multiple Roms, and the issue still persists it may be a hardware issue. I would ODIN back to Stock, before making any decisions.

I'm having the same problem, anybody find a solution?

[MOD] Silent Jellybean Camera.apk LIF only

It's been awhile since I have contributed to the community. Some of you may remember me from the E4G and the ET4G.
Anyway, the Samsung Camera app in the LIF Jellybean leak can't be silenced by removing the audio files from the media folder in the ROM, at least not for me. I also don't want to have to download an app from the market simply to silence the beep of the auto focus.
I modified the stock Samsungcamera. apk and swapped out the ui sounds with silenced versions and recompiled.
Now there is no sound at all when using the camera app.
Instructions:
Backup your existing Samsungcamera.apk and flash this via CWM. You may need to clear the camera data but it works great for me.
I hope this helps and please feel free to use for whatever. Feel free to stop by my blog and learn something about Autism. www.lostandtired.com

Good to have you around again!
Thanks bro. Much respect to you for your work and dedication on and off the forums. Fight for autism!!!
Awesome adjustment. However in this case, if you edit the features.xml file, you can put the "sound off" selector back into the cam app.
However, find out how to edit the program to use the vol keys as the shutter! That is a great mod!
Thanks man! My sister is autistic so i know how u feel.
Thanks for the mod . Having kids i can relate to using a quality camera on my pda.
Please take no offence to my thoughs about Autism, but my son has it too. Personally in SOME cases it's an excuse for him not to be able to to chores around the house. In school they have a special room for kids with learning impedance and he gets picked on sometimes. At least for slight cases, have the kid work harder and spend more time showing them how it's done.
I was a below average reader/writer even after my undergraduate work in Engineering, but I've focused on my weak areas and improved them. Now I'm fine, in fact, that area was my highest score on the GMAT. Now with an MBA, it has played off having a well rounded education.
Sorry to get off the main topic, kool mod for sure!
guess i had the wrong kind of camera, after installing this my camera app doesnt work any more, how do i uninstall?
did you back up your rom???
Then all you have to do is restore..
nope. and even now after I've factory reset it, its not working..
Backup your existing Samsungcamera.apk and flash this via CWM.

[Q] Frosty JB V3 Bugs

Hi Everyone,
First I would like to say how much I love Frosty JB and that this thread is only to help make it better.
I would like to report some issues that I have seen and see if anyone else has had this as well.
1. I was getting random reboots saying invalid SIM
2. Screen would flicker when Hardware overlays was not disabled.
3. In ICS there was an option on the setting of call for configuring the Native SIP this has disappeared
4. Camera shutter not making the shutter sound anymore
Can't wait for the next release V4 of Frosty.:good::good:
If anyone else is having other issues I would like to hear about it.
THANKS AGAIN
How did you go about flashing? What steps did you take?

And now why you post here about stuff u were guided by android authority? +if you have issues with a rom you post on that roms thread if u really want ur issues to be solved. There is a fix for every single "issue" u mention but i guess android authority has not posted the guide yet

Now that I have found the source why go to second party.... I was just trying to be helpfull

Alright. Best way to be helpful is pm the rom's dev about bugs you find.
Once you get your 10 posts you will get better support posting in the rom thread. Until then just do what you can like now.
Couple things you can try, redownload the rom and reflash. Make sure youve backed everything up and factory reset before flashing. This will give you a clean install and rule out any compatability issues with apps or data.
If you are still having sim problems use Odin to flash back to UVALH2 stock and if it still has issues you may need to exchange the sim or even the phone.
I dont think 1. has been a common issue so i doubt its the rom. The rest are likely related to it being a jb leak. Youll find out faster for sure by scanning through the last 10-15 pages in the thread.
Good luck with it!

1. Don't think that is a ROM issue (might be your hardware). But best bet is to to fully wipe everything and do a clean install them wipe cache dalvic and fix permissions reboot and wait 10 minutes then reboot again.
2. Flicker comes from the kernel (uvli6/uvli7) it has much better battery than uvli8 so we accept rare flickers. Easy fix by disabling hw overlays (video wont work while disabled though).
3. Idk but i think that is just how it is on jelly bean. Nothing to do with this ROM but literally all jelly bean roms.
4. This is a known issue with acid sound mod not the ROM. You can delete the acid sound mod find the apk with a file manager or titanium backup.
Gotta use the search option my man!

I just tried this and still no shutter. I had also deleted dsp manager because I wasn't getting any bass with my earphones on and I saw a post that said deleting dsp fixed it, and it did. Could that have something to do with it

Is something wrong with my sound quality?

I am running the jedi 6x rom and my audio quality is terrible. When I'm on the phone it almost sounds like the speaker is blown, even when I just play music it sounds terrible. Is there something I can do to fix it?

Have you tried a clean re-install to make sure in some a software issue.
If it's you hardware see if you can get it replaced or repaired under warranty. You'll need to go back to stock though.
I am also using the same rom and I too have the same problem. Earpiece and speaker are crackling when there is an "S" sound. I dropped my phone in water a minth ago so I assumed I damaged the speakers but reading people having same problem changed my mind.
I think it's because the volume of the rom is high? I dont know. I hope its a software issue not hardware.....

I'm also running Jedi ROM and haven't noticed anything.
Ya. I tried a stock rom and it had the same issue. I have tried different roms and kernels and I am still having this issue. I thought at first that it was not that bad, but it is becoming incredibly annoying. Would flashing that ac!d mod thing change anything?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
I have the same issue... on some songs it even does it while its quiet. The sound is there if the volume is over 80%, and it does it through the built in speaker and external.

It could be that somehow you''ve had an extreme sound mod applied without realizing it. This is the thread that shows how to edit the default_gain.conf file yourself and you can check your own file against EdgaBimbam's Ultra, Mid, Normal, and Stock Templates. It's pretty easy to do. Open the files up in a program like Notepad+ and compare them. As each device is a bit different, the settings that make my phone sound good may make yours distort.
The other thing that springs to mind is to see if you are using a kernel (such as Perseus) that has a (different) sound mod embedded in it - referred to as Voodoo Sound. Perseus comes with an utility called STweaks and it has an audio page that has a bunch of settings on it including an equalizer. I think it is all enabled by default. There are several of the settings that can cause distortion or help to remove it if I understand it correctly.

This may be the case. Although it did it while stock, the volume has always been extremely loud, even in comparison to my other phones with multiple sound mods. Ill give it a shot and see what happens.

mms limit

Can someone tell me why I'm getting super blurry video only when i go to mms limit in video, It never did that until yesterday and I have wiped clean and re installed twice. I wiped everything to. only gets blurry in mms limit though never on regular video and never in pictures, Any help Id really appreciate thanks
I think maybe it would be somewhat important to say what rom you are on. Also have you asked in the rom thread of whatever rom it is your running? Usually the users there may have a quicker answer and help than putting it out here in public. You also know mms limit lowers the quality of the video drastically in order to transmit?

The only suggestion I have is go into the apps manager or titanium backup and wipe all data on the camera and try again. Each rom carries different cameras and different modded cameras so one you may have used in one version may be different in another version or on another rom.

If it works fine in normal mode then why not record that way? MMS limit is going to make your video blurry because the video has to be compressed so much in order to be under the file size limit for MMS.

Mic problems on AOKP ROM

So i'm on to like my third GS2 because it seems like i always have bad luck with ROMs or there is common issue that i haven't yet noticed. I am currently not even rooted but i have this itch to just root once again and flash my beloved AOKP that i love dearly. The problem is that every time i flash the ROM everything is fine and smooth for about a month, but then people start telling me that my mic and my end of the call sounds really bad. I always test speech to text and google now and the phone seems to understand and hear me perfectly, but the issue of phone calls remain. I really wanna know if this is a common issue especially with this ROM so that i can stay away from rooting and flashing for good now or if there is a way to fix this or if someone has worked their way around this. Any help or info would be appreciated, thanks!
AOKP to the death bro i feel you on that and do you have the newest radio installed MC6 (baseband) any of the newer ROMs all recommend to use the newest radio but on a side note yes the issue is know but not everyone gets it but ive never actually had that problem every phone acts differently and behave differently not every phone is created equal
Do I need to install the MC6 radio separately? I've had the issue with all my GS2's :/
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
yes just download this and flash it in recovery http://goo.im/devs/Void_Dweller/SGH-T989_UVMC6_radio.zip and see if you have any improvements also what radio are you on now ??
OK thank you. Well like I said in my first post I am unrooted and stock right now. I just want info at my reach in case it happens again because its a stressful situation where all my calls are impossible and I want to be able to fix it right away if it happens
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
I also used to have an issue with AOKP because when I was in USB mass storage connected to my computer it would either freeze and I would have to reboot the phone or it would just disconnect and not recognize the phone until I rebotted again. Any ideas on this issue? I really wanna get back to AOKP, i just run into a lot of issues somrtimes :/

I flashed original aokp milestone1 from this site: http://aokp.co/devices/hercules and everything is fine and well but i'm having problems with it freezing in usb mode. I treid flashing the radio but it would keep aborting it and not flshing. I will try re-downloading the radio and slim bean rom which was also being aborted and try again. do i need gapps when i flash slimbean as well?
OK so i was able to flash the radio you told me to but it was no use, my side of the phone call sounds like if i was talking through a fan, this is really frustrating now :/ any ideas? I will try flashing slimbean again and keep you posted. thanks for all your help up until now, i appreciate it bro.
OK so i re-downloaded the slimbean rom and also flashed the 4.2.2 slim gapps and i am so happy and satisfied that my phone actually works the way it's supposed to now. I only have two small concerns now that i hope you can help me with.
1. When i connect to my pc my phone only gives me the options to connect as a media player or a camera. It's as if it dosn't even have a usb mass storage option? I also noticed it has no developer section in settings.
2. Everything is small. I know you might know this and it might be normal or default but is there any way to change this and make it normal? Is it something to do with Dpi? It's kinda annoying lol

1a. Mass storage mode had major problems so it was removed for now.
1b. Go to settings/about phone and tap on build number seven times to turn on developer options.
2. Go to settings/interface/general and follow the directions to change your DPI to 240.
