God bless polycarb - removing dents - HTC One X

Hi all,
Not sure if anyone has already posted this but one really great thing about the HOX is its trivial to remove even really chunky dents and scratches from the case. I had a few caused by dropping on tarmac ta at looked really nasty.
Some 400 grade wet and dry, job done. Wrap the paper round a cloth to make it nice and squishy, rub away. 30 seconds later - good as new...

not exactly removing a dent is it...

Your right, it's disguising it. Nearly all people would never pick it if done well.

I actually tried the sanding trick myself on my damaged One X and i have to say it works a treat
but ofcourse, always be very careful

Sounds good gonna try it

Would this remove the yellow spot bottom left??
?⇜viper 361xm304 goes like ?

It sure will, as mentioned earlier in this thread it will disguise it.
Sent from...... The Milky Way

ive dropped my one x like 30 times on ceramic flooring, no dents, no scratches, even dropped it like 3 times on screen(got a sand scratch).
the only thing i hated about the design is the extruding back camera, that got alot of scratches.

Bent HTC One x...

This is what happens when you sit on a wall with your one x in your back pocket...
This physically made me cry my heart out for about an hour.
The worst part... I got my otterbox case the following morning.. I hate myself for putting it in my back pocket. Forgive me for hurting you my beautiful One x, I am sorry.

Well what you can do now is making money out of spare parts that are still intact.
Like someone here searches for some GSM cable. Someone needed some even smaller part. etc.
Just change the thread into "Selling spare parts out of my bent htc one x"
Sleek, slim, and light weight breaks.
This doesn't.
Personally, I'd rather take my chances with sleek, slim, and light weight.

Nah, just for the construction industry. It's a great idea though for people than need a heavy duty phone. Can you imagine a One X or SGS3 on a job site?

I'm not a physicist or an engineer but I'm guessing that a larger area + lighter materials + less depth + less reinforcement + edge-to-edge glass = tons more broken phones. The latter is causing SGS3's to drop like flies.
Holy geezus!
Oh man that sucks.

J/k. Sorry. I know that feeling
did you transform into the Hulk and your phone broke like that? damn boy you must have a concrete ass
on a serious note ouch buddy i had to cover my One X eyes so it doesn't see that and has nightmares.. poor thing would start shivering if it could
TBH I was disappointed when HTC decided not to have an Aluminium shell on the One X, my old Desire HD was a lot more rugged. I bet it would of still worked in this situation
Oh damn, that picture hurts my eyes and my heart. :crying:

[Q] HTC Desire HD has Gorilla Glass!!!?

I read spec. on wiki/gsmarena that HTC Desire HD has Gorilla Glass!!!? Is that true, then why this device easily getting scratches on display screen? :crying:
I believe gorilla glass isn't completely scratch proof, it just has a lower tendency to scratch. Although, I haven't had any problems with the scratchability of the screen.
I've never had problems with scratches on my screen... but I think it uses the gorilla glass...

Mine also doesn't get scratches (Only 2 after 2 years of heavy use)

Both inspire and desire have gorilla glass. It is pretty hard to scratch. I have kept mine in my pocket every day for over a year and also dropped it on concrete a few times. Still not a single scratch on my screen. Try cleaning it really well with a paper towel and glass cleaner. May just be greasy and giving the impression of being scratched. Unless you put your phone through some pretty rough abuse.

scratch resistant does not mean that's impossible to get one scratch
Gorilla glass is what is on the phone, and it definitely works. I was hiking in Colorado and took my case off for the trip to make the picture clarity better since the otter box covers the lens (Yeah that was a stupid idea)... I pulled it out of my pocket on the second day and it slipped out of my hand and proceeded to slide, on the screen, about 15 feet (5 meters ish) on rock. Very minor scratches, almost unnoticeable. I am using an Inspire 4G, but for this thread its the same as the DHD spec.

[Q] Do you prefer using case or not?

Hi all
Im new here and i just bought an htc one x white, wanted to ask you if do you prefer using case or not ?
sure man,you don't know what will happen to your phone,my phone has fell lots of times but has no single scratch on it ....so I really recommend you getting one
no signature....problem ?!?!?!
I drop my phone quite regularly and now it has a few small cracks, but only around the edges (luckily), as a result I now use a case. However ugly or bad it feels I prefer protection over looks/feel.
It's like a condom... in a way....
I don't use a case but got one for my wife's white HOX. It's the official HTC case (the one with the holes) and I can say that it's design and quality is light years ahead of any third party cases I bought. Unfortunately it's only in white and would look weird on my black HOX.

I dont use one but use a pouch, a lot better in my opinion

thanks guys for the answers, for me its better with no case, i can hold my phone better work with it easier and feels more like a phone

Love it ..
But back to topic. I regret not using any case. After 3 weeks, I dropped it. Now I still carry this scar, A dent at edge of the phone.

Fast overheating + cameralens loose

When my one X is charging on textile like a pillow or sth it heats up like crazy. Anyone with the same problem?
Also my lens looks like it is gonna give up on me any day now..
I always take great care of my phone, before this one had a hd2 had it for 3 year, not a single scratch. I hate the cheap ass build quality.
I won't buy a dumb plastic piece of sh.. anymore. HTC please, for your next phones, use aluminium.
I wonder, can the heating problems be fixed?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Well, y'know, you could put it on something thermally conductive rather than a thermal insulator.

Optimus G Pro is drop proof

Someone asked about fragility of G Pro
jesi.james said:
Im also a bit more concerened about phone durability. I take care of my things but I want a little more cushion for when accidents happen. Is the OG Pro just as fragile as the s4? Has anyone managed to accidentally crack theirs?

Looking on it in near sight I've already noticed one thing. The glass doesn't cover full size of the phone but instead has .2mm spare space to the edges of phone. Also the glass in not surrounded by banking board. Also the glass has beveled edge, about 70° sharp.
So I presume that the glass would not crack even if the phone would be dropped from 6 feet height. Unless of course it would be dropped flat fall on screen
Another indirect proof of that is here. Watch Note 2 has cracked glass when G Pro doesn't have severe damages
If you think this device is drop proof you are delusional. I haven't watched the linked video nor do I need to. The front is glass and could crack from a 6" fall. Many things factor in here including luck.

Well, someone eventually will test it, people drop their phones here and there.
And also I'll attach here link to this topic Optimus G = UNBREAKABLE
Well no phones drop proof obviously but ive had 2 friends that had lg phones and ive had one myself and I can tell u theyre probably the some of the best built on the market. My connect was dropped, thrown, stepped on, kicked and all manner of torment and worked like the day I bought it till the day I traded it in on this. Ive seen lg phones survive multiple (so many I lost count) drops that would have sent a samsung or htc device to the scrap heap...

Exactly. My wife has a One X. She has dropped, thrown it onto a hard floor with force, and let's our 3 old play with it like it's his. It has a ton of scratches, but hasn't broken. Some were saying when it released that it was super fragile. I guess since hers has been abused it must be the toughest phone ever made. Right? No, she's been extremely lucky.

I'm assuming by patio you mean stone/brick/concrete/pavers, right? If that's the case, most phones wouldn't be too fond of an 18" drop.
Yeah, but I've had other phones hit asphalt from 4-5 feet high on the corner and survive with only nick in the bezel. My post is just a warning that this phone is definitely not "drop proof". I've only had the OGP for four days and already have to shell out $ for an insurance claim. Sad thin is my case I ordered is supposed to show up today.
