[Q] - Capacitive Key Sensitivity - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

The capacitive keys on my device seem to be rather unresponsive. Usually, I have to tap a couple of times to get them to work. It also helps if I "light them up" first by touching elsewhere on the screen before touching one of the soft keys.
Is anybody aware of a tweak of fix to crank up the sensitivity of these keys a bit?

There is a "touch sensitivity" setting in the galaxy S 2 settings. Depends on which ROM ur on as to how to access those settings

Only police place I've seen this option was on CM 10.1. Are there any TW ROMs that have that option exposed?
I'm currently on the new BlueKuban.

How to turn off back light keys AOKP

Has anyone been able to accomplish this? Edit custom levels under display to 0 buttons does not stick for me. It worked for a second at one point but not anymore.
EDIT: I meant to make subject title AOKP

Make sure you have at least 6 levels and it'll stick

Using Nova Launcher
Hold on Screen > Add Shortcuts > Activities > Galaxy SII Settings
It is under Sensors
It was in the AOKP thread
Thank you so much for this. I have been looking for this functionality for about two weeks now.
Without using a launcher you could.download BLN control from apparently market and just click deactivate lol

Remapping home key

How can i remap the home key to take a picture while in camera application
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I believe the Camera app has to be modded in order to do this.
Oh, well that sucks
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I know how to remap it to do other stuff, such as open the camera. But I guess I can't make the camera take with it
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Check this out: http://hx-custom-roms.com/galaxy-s3-camera-mod
Not sure if it works with our version, but try it.
You can remap it by editing
System - usr - keylayout - sec-keys.kl
And you'll see the "home" entry. Change it to camera.
But you will lose "home" option unless you have soft keys enabled

[MOD] Enable Softkeys and Disable Capacitive Keys (FK23)

My menu key has been Phantom pressing a lot lately so I wanted to add the Nav bar and disable my capacitive keys to prevent Phantom presses.
The Nav bar is easy but the key layout code is different in Jellybean than it was in ICS or GB. It took me way too long to figure out where the code for capacitive keys was in FK23, so I thought I'd make it easier for anyone else who needs/wants this mod.
To get softkeys/Nav bar, click on Mattix's link below and follow instructions. (thanks for discovering this)
To disable your capacitive keys, navigate to system/usr/keylayout and change the file called "Generic.kl" to "Generic.kl.bak" and paste this file in its place...
http://db.tt/Vdqr44cq
Then reboot and your capacitive keys will be disabled. The keys may still light up. You can change that by going into your phones settings and display, change touch key light duration to always off. Hope this helps somebody.
By the way, the Nav bar is pretty large at stock dpi but if you change the density (I like 200 myself) it doesn't look bad at all.
You would make a thread after I posted this...

Woops yeah didn't see that. This was mainly for disabling the capacitive keys. I figured most people knew how to do the Nav bar already.
Lol I just read your post. You can ask my wife I spent hours googling how to add Nav bar and looking through the keylayout files trying to disable the capacitive keys while she yelled at me . Wasn't trying to steal your thunder or anything. Just a crazy coincidence.

The Nav bar should work on ICS but the file for disabling capacitive keys is only for fk23. Albeit it's extremely easy to do on ICS.

anyone have any idea on how to change this to be used in touchwiz?
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true
since fk23 is 4.1.2
That app does not work correctly

Yeah I'm trying to make the search key open recent apps. I always used that mod on tw ICS roms. At this point when I try to change the line it just breaks everything. Gonna try and figure it out though.

Thanks for pointing to my link in the OP but it's ok if you make it more like a guide. It will make it a lotv easier for it to be in one place.
I could really care less about getting credit for this, credit belongs to some guy in the S3 forums.

Soft keys!?!

I was wondering if we could somehow enable soft keys to pop up when the S pen was removed from the phone? I know there is an app that you can use gestures for the S Pen, however using soft keys on the bottom when the S pen was pulled out would be an awesome feature.

last time someone brought this up the quick gesture option built in was given as a good replacement of soft menu....but i could see tying a soft key app to the pen extraction being do_able..like the memo pop up option

comment out lines on /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl, like so...
Code:
# key 158 BACK
# key 172 HOME
# key 139 MENU
physical home button, however, will still wake up the device (which i prefer) and long pressing on it will bring up s-/google- voice. if you wish otherwise, you can disable it altogether by editing the line on gpio-keys.kl (same directory as above)...
Code:
# key 172 HOME WAKE
then turn off lights via settings/display/touchkey light duration. works on both ics and jb sammy roms. HTH

I understand how to change build.prop to take advantage of enabling and disabling the soft keys. However I was wondering if maybe one of our smart devs would be able to incorporate it into a rom, so the soft keys are disabled when the Spen is in the phone, but then enabled when the Spen is taken out. This would be a a sick feature!!!

Touch control?

Is there anything similar to Touch Control for S4? So far, to my knowledge, it's only available for the nexus devices. If you don't know what Touch control is, it's an app that let's you turn your phones screen on by sliding your screen to the right while it's off (or other gestures).
**So basically something that lets your turn your phone's screen on without touching any physical button
