Help w/gb27 w/root from CM10 JB - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hello all. i have used the search function but have not been able to find a definitive answer to what im trying to achieve. i have been through so many ROMS ICS and JB of course JB being my favorite but most of them have bugs that i just dont have time to deal with such as speaker/gps problems and other minor issues. I am currently running cm10 wild for the night JB rom, and i would like to go to gb27 stock w/root doesnt have to be official either... i just want everything to work with minimal work. i have seen alot of conflicting instructions so i was hoping someone could point me to a thread containing this info in detail along with files. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Well the obvious method, and the simplest would be to use the stock rooted one click to flash in the prerooted software. It will flash in all needed partitions in one swoop. Seeing as only JB modems work on stock TW based Roms. Hope this is what you are asking. I just used this method my self

How to deodex 4.0.4 stock rom?

Guys Im starting to get into building custom roms. But I am a beginner but been looking for threads and google on how to build roms.
Right now im starting to use stock based roms witch seems easier but as google takes me to deodex a stock rom I need xUltimate.
but have no idea on witch version I need to have
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/xeudoxus/47283-release-xultimate.html all the guides thread I found takes me to that link but as you can see there are several versions and for several devices.
I thought I need a little help from an expert on deodex stock ics roms of the t989
Oh one more thing, I assume the way we root stock roms doesnt install busybox and there are several apps for that on play store, witch is best?

Successfully Root SGS3 4.1.1 T999

Hello, first time thread poster here
I have a Wind Mobile SGS3 T-999V with 4.1.1 Jelly bean and Im still looking for a way to successfully root my device.
Ive looked around but most of these threads comments have problems and don't work after the new Jelly Bean update that rolled out last week.
Was just looking for advice on the best way to do it (MAC preferably but Windows works too) to root my SGS3, any compatible recoveries that work on the device and any advice on ROMs that will help me save battery, get rid of bloat ware and make my phone faster and more efficient.
Thanks a lot! :cyclops:
More information of my device can be given if needed!
P.S. I actually have a few friends that are awaiting ways to do this too so any info will help about 5+ people more so than just myself!
Im just the test dummy to see if the rooting method and ROMs work!
Root just as before, no difference with jb.
I still root the same way I did on ics and works perfectly.

You can odin root66 from official firmware thread in stickies from development forum.
As to recovery there are two which I know of, twrp or cwm.
And as to rom, I recommend FrostyJB. Great rom with very good battery life (around 20h on mid-heavy use), most of bloat removed. With right kernel you can overclock it to work even faster, it's fast already. Try ktoonsez or trinity kernel. Both are confirmed to work.

Thanks a lot I tried the Root66 and it worked easily.
Will FrostyJB get rid of any of the SGS3 features such as smart stay and calling when you put the phone to your ear?
And also what do you find is the easiest way to install ClockWork Mod for it? Because ROM manager doesnt seem to have the recovery for WIND/T-MOBILE SGS3s
Thanks a lot for your help!

Things like smart stay, motion, etc. are available in FrostyJB. Like in every stock (tw) based rom. But unfortunately DJ stopped his work on that ROM and there will be no new versions, but in current release everything is stable and works great.
I have installed cwm using rom manager. It worked great for me. Are you sure you are doing everything right?

[Q] redruM and Jellybeans!

Hey Guys, I had upgraded to the official Jellybean and then yesterday finally rooted my phone. I wanted to flash the redruM ROM onto my phone...long story short after the Flash through Mobile ODIN my phone did what I can only assume is soft brick, but I found another thread with a stock rom and was able to restore the phone back to ICS now running the redruM rom. My question is can redruM work with JellyBean or at least a Jellybean ROM or do I have to pick one or the other? I saw another developer that listed like 5 different ROMS he had installed...can you have more than one rom? I searched and couldn't find and answer for these questions...any advice is welcom because I loved several features of JellyBean that I lost in reverting to ICS with redruM.
Thanks
Jeremy

Probably bc it's a sprint Rom.....

you linked a sprint rom, you need to be a alot more careful flashing things. You can not have 5 different roms. This is the Redrum JB rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750270 and can not stress enough, read more.

Huh then I wonder if I just put the wrong link...because the ROM worked great once I recovered the phone back to stock with boot-stock-tmobile-sgh-t999 through desktop ODIN...when the phone rebooted...jellybean was gone and the redrum ROM was working just fine with the phone being moved back to ICS 4.0.4....
Regardless the crisis was averted and I've since moved over to Wicked Sensations JB and was even able to backup the "Awesome Beats" program from the redruM ROM and now have it running with wicked....so I'm happy!
Now if I could just get rid of the screen burn that was on the phone when I bought it that I didn't notice!
Thanks for your advice guys...
What you wrote makes no sense, but...
Why are you over on the Sprint forums flashing roms to your phone when you clearly have little knowledge on what you're doing, lol? If you have any questions PM me or someone who seems knowledgeable enough to help you. I fear your phones life.

Not sure what didn't make sense to you...
I was able to get my soft bricked phone into download mode and was able to flash a stock rom from ODIN on my desktop and when the phone booted back up the build was 4.0.4 and was successfully running the redrum rom that originally caused the problem...
Like I said...I probably posted the wrong link to the Sprint ROM as I just did a search for the redrum rom and picked the first one that came up...so my bad I probably posted the wrong link...
Once jellybean was gone after the flash back to stock redrum worked fine...and based on what I'm gathering from you guys is a Sprint ROM won't work on t-mobile phone...well what I'm telling you is that it worked fine after Jellybean was gone...there was a problem with the redrum rom and Jellybean.
But none of that matters..my phone is fine and running a great ROM that I am thoroughly enjoying.
Hope that clears it up...

Unroot to Stock JellyBean Rom

So originally I posted this thread because I was stuck in a recovery limbo. Flashing rom wouldn't work, restoring wouldn't work.
But thanks to the assistance of a few users I found out that the recovery and nightly I was using needed to be updated. Finally flashed CM11 KitKat. Not impressed... Had hoped to be able to print and screen record (features boasted among the official Release feature additons). But right now Im greatly disappointed actually. There seems to be a lot of features (printing, screen recording, and standard Samsung apps/features) either missing, unavailable through CM11 or just not yet available through CM11.
Either way at this point I just need to unroot to OTA, or flash a Jelly Bean stock rom. So thats why I retitled the topic of this thread.
Any searches for original stock roms results in mirrors or links for foreign links, and foreign roms.
Does anyone know of a Jelly Bean stock rom for the Galaxy 8 N5110 for the USA?
I'd prefer to flash using Odin too...
WOuld anyone be able to spare a moment to help me out with this?

[Q] Flash EVO 4G back to stock ROM

Does anyone have a working link to a stock EVO 4G stock ROM that can then be used to update to the latest stock ROM+radios+whatever? I've been searching around here and the Internet in general, but I'm having trouble wading through the sea of dead links to stock ROMs and links to ROMs that have been hacked to remove radios and whatnot.
I've been using the last good Evervolv JB ROM and it's just too unstable, and my radios and stuff are probably out of date too, so I'd like to try going back to stock for a while.
Note regarding root: It would be nice to be able to keep root, but not if it means having to use stock ROMs that have been modified to the point where it will be a pain to update to the latest stock ROM+radios+whatever. I can always re-unroot myself if needed.
Thanks!

I'm looking for the exact same thing... I'd like to go back to the stock HTC Sense ROM, but I've lost my old backup copy (long story) and having trouble finding a suitable replacement. Did you happen to save a backup of your stock ROM before switching to the Evervolv ROM? If so, could you send me the Zip?
Or, if anyone out there on the forum could help, that would be great.
I was hoping to get some benefit to a more recent version of Android, but all the ROM's I've tried thus far seem to have one glitch after another. I'd prefer to go back to a stock, or some slightly upgraded version of the SENSE IU. Any suggestions appreciated.
I downloaded this ROM as it looked like a good "SENSE-esque" ROM, and looks like most everything is working on this version.
http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?12344-ROM-5-09-12-New!!The-Express!!-Updated!!-Working4G!!-Full-Landscape-Sense-3-0-Aroma-Installer!!&p=203943#post203943
Thoughts?
I don't have a backup of my stock ROM as far as I know.
I really wanted something close to stock, so I think I ended up settling on [Rom]TN_Elousions3.2_OTA_5.07.651.6_Deoxed_Stock_Theme.zip which is a moderate mod of the last stock ROM.
I ended up going through the S-OFF process as well to make sure that I had the latest radios and such.
It's functional, but between the Sense changes and the fact that it's Gingerbread-based means that there are some things about the UI that just aren't as nice as Evervolv. The upshot is that the battery consumption is lower and the hardware features work or work better (4G, FFC, camcorder, FM radio, etc.).
I'm tempted to try one of the last official Cyanogen ROMs just to see if I like the UI better than Sense, but I'll probably just stick it out until I get a new phone.
