HTC one X , was extremely happy with its rock solid performance until now . The device has started to show a weird issue ! As soon as my battery drops 35 % , the phone immediately shutdown without any warning. In fact if i turn on the phone again, it shows the battery level is still green ( 35-34 %) but instantly shutdown again as soon as it register with the operator network . But surprisingly, if i pull out the sim card, or put the phone in airplane mode, it remains turned ON. And also can use wifi. And the phone behaves normal at that point. i can play games, watch videos or song and no sudden shutdown unless the battery gauge shows it is 1 % . Im really confused and not sure what might be the cause of this weird problem . My sim card is ok , tested in other device. I really apprecaite if someone can help me what to do. Is it a bad battery or problem with the phone ???
(Upon full charge it dosent have this issue, but even at standy mode, battery drain faster . And the problem return when battery goes down to arround 40-35 %. And when plugged in a charger, the issue is also disappear )
Hey the battery has a small sensor in top which tells the phone how much juice it has, sounds like yours is faulty. If you can replace it in warranty that be best thing

On cwm recovery and using Rom -JB 4.1.1 orDroid 13.10 and rooted. Before it was good, the problem has recently showed up. I cant have warranty in bangladesh . Im thinking to use power back ? do you think it could be any help ?
Charge to 100% and then delete the batt stats in the recovery

But even if it tells how much the power is left, why there is no warning that the battery is low ?? It shutdown without any warning !! it still shows 35% right before shutdown. But the phone acts normal without sim card or in airplane mode. And then it drains the battery normal too, even at that condition i can still play or browse internet for hours if i pull out the sim card .

Should i re flash the kernel ? or change the rom ?
Is there any way, i can stop the phone shuting down upon information on battery sensor :S

I have checked the sim card with other phones, it worked nice and so sign of shutdown or anything that goes with my HOX. And the phone is completely normal when it the battery is above 35-40 % . infact, the phone wouldnt shutdown and work normal even with 5 % of charge , i can watch HD videos for another 30 minz, when in airplane mode while they sim inside the phone.
Someone reffered, a battery sensor issue, do you think it might be the cause ? is there anyway i can stop the phone taking action based on the battery sensor ? I really wouldnt worry and get a new battery but the ONE X simply too complicated for that
Hmm did you also checked another SIM in your hox ?
i´ve have this problem too.
sim card was replaced.
maybe an update of radio will help?
I have this same problem
My phone does this exact same thing too. Please what is the solution?
I just factory reset my phone and waiting for the battery to go down to 40% to see if it will keep going off or not
I think it might be because of a software update I recently did.
this is a huge problem

my phone was replaced yesterday - bug is gone (my new phone doesn´t have it)
Same Trouble
I have been battling with this same exact problem for months now.
I have tried every thing from RiL update to Flashing different roms all to no avail.
I guess it a hardware issue so hoping someone here with point me in the right direction.
Whether battery replacement or Sim Reader or whatever.

I would suggest a battery replacement... However, no idea what causing the problem... why don't you go fully stock and let HTC do their thing? In any case, you need to get it fixed so why not send it to HTC!

Bros there ain't no bloody HTC repair shop in this part of the world, just bunch of quarks who i think i understand how stuff works better.
If it was a software issue i would have long fixed it by now. but Hardware!!! dont trust nobody to open my phone just yet.
And even if i finally get a repair shop to do it, i would sell off the phone as soon as its done and get the new HTC one.
OMG have to replace battery -__-! cost around $50 include disassembly
Anyone try replace battery? Problem solved?

it work for me when my battery was messed up, you can try flshing latest radio or do a full wipe and flash a rom.
You know that background services drain the battery very fast.
Also keep wifi/mobile data/ bluetooth on only when you use it.
Uninstall any odd-apps-that-require-data connection-and-run-into-background.
Furthermore, try a sense RoM ( the one from my sig for example ) and see how the device behaves then.
For now I cannot suggest more then basic stuff as I don't know exactly what is going on with your device.

Before trying a sense rom, format the phone. Then switch off and charge . Make sure to use a recovery without offmode charging bug. Wait till the red led turns green. Then enter recovery and wipe battery stats. Then unplug charger and switch on the phone. Hope it helps.
Edit: Another suggestion. You said your battery gets full charge in another wildfire. So make a full charge in another wildfire. Then insert the battery in your wildfire and go to recovery and wipe the battery stats. Then power on the phone and check.

Same with my wildfire too stuck on like 70 to 80 never goes 100%. Already tries sense Rom and all other Rom but still facing the issue. When i try to charge in off it stuck and need to take the battery out and than it gonna b start is it a bug of alpha x s off or recovery plz help out this battery issue.
Just read a thread by someone who is experiencing the very same thing on a Stock, Unrooted. S-ON Phone. So I guess it's unrelated to root or anything.

I got the same battery-stuck on stock, unrooted, s-on phone (froyo). Tried to do everything - root, clear battery stat, flash rom (sense, nonsense, stock), downgrade hboot to 0.80, new battery, charging when phone turned off - nothing. Battery keep not charging full and I saw green led a long time ago.
Follow this thread attentively.

Why don't you take it to a repair shop? Even if you don't give it for repairs, atleast it can possibly help identify the issue?
My phone is charging only sometimes, I have to move the cable to make it charging, it's not cable fault, I tried many cables and many chargers, they all work in other phones, but in my phone the only work sometimes. Is there something to do?
I think the only way is to ship it to HTC assistance. Can you help me to return it to perfectly stock?

Now it doesn't want to turn on anymore! the battery was 85% but the phone is now off. If I put in charge now, phone is off, the led is flashing (what does it mean? I have the latest CWM recovery from Modpunk), it's not always on like when charging normally. If I try to turn it on I can only see the proximity sensor flashing.
My battery is dead or my phone is dead??

its kinda new problem i have never seen anything like this.you can try to flash stock rom again and then see what happend,if still has same issue, best you can go to HTC service center.because its like some hardware issue.my phone 's battery wasnt charge fully, its alwys said "overheated" so i have to replace my PCB(motherboard of phone).
but my opinion is flash stock rom and see what happend.if problem seems same,go to service center.
I can't turn on the phone. How can I flash the stock rom ????
And I can't send it to the service center as it is. Warranty void because I'm rooted. I have to unroot it first!
I'm gonna try to use another battery, just going to the seller and ask if I can try the battery of another WFS.

yeah.wish new battery will work.
sometimes issues causes of custom roms.like all wildfire s aren't made similiar.some has overclock capability and some dosent.so its upto your device built.so now you got working phone so charge it and see if it wont fully charge and issue remains same once port stock rom.hopefully issues will be solved after new battery.
Hello guys,
I have problem with my HTC Desire. After few years of normal using, few days back from now I could not turn my phone on.
I read somewhere that maybe my battery died, and because of that I bought new one, after placing battery in, I recharge my phone normal and when I press turn on button it's still the same problem. Few vibrates, I think 7 or 6, and then I see HTC logo all time. All I could do is took battery out and that's it.
So, can you help me ? Anyone with same problem like mine? I could not even enter Recovery, when I turn phone on by holding volume down button, I choose recovery and then I see HTC logo and vibrates again. No point
Regards,
Nazzgull
Take the battery out, and put the phone in the freezer for 10 minutes.
After that try to boot it up. If it boots up ok, it likely means that the issue is an overheating motherboard rather than a software issue.

Well its a hardware issue...not easy/cheap to fix. You have three options:
1. Buy a mini fridge that you can walk around with and keep your phone in.
2. Buy a new motherboard, and replace your current one with it.
3. Buy a new phone.
Sent using xda-developers app
Yep, buying a new phone would probably be the best decision.
After you've been able to boot, did it stay on? In that case it sounds like a software problem to me. Can you confirm?

It isn't software related, because the OP booted the phone after it had cooled off in the fridge. This is a clear sign of motherboard overheating, as we often encounter here.

for 5 minutes already solved my issue, I did refrain from the rest of the instructions posted above. I could also have put my phone in the freezer, which then would mean my phone overheats? Come on.... There are several failure modes apparently, of which overheating is one, but there are more. So some don't have to throw away their phone. Please let me know in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449606, if you experience this as well.
Hey there im turning to the community for a bit of help...
First of all here is my phone info... Bone stock non-rooted
Lg G3 D-852 canadian version with Bell
Running android 6.0 kernel 3.4.0
Build number mra58k soft version d85230h
here is my issue, lately when i do random things on the phone it shuts itself down and goes into a bootloop.
in order to get the phone back on i actually have to plug it in and for some reason seems to short it back out of loop and into boot.
At first when it started it was booting up completely then shutting down 4 times. after that 4th time everything was good.
now it just stays stuck in a look until i shove a wire up its hole.
ive come to notice that most times whe it shuts down it seems to be when i try to do many things at once or load up a video...
sometimes even opening a picture will shut it down... it almost feels like when an overclocked system just ticks off.
im not quite sure where to go from here, phone is 2 years old but id love to figure this problem out
edit: yes i already tried a factory reset
edit 2: i just tried another factory reset.... now it wont even load up. itll boot all the way to the os (if plugged in) then shuts down and just says its charging... completely out of a phone now ffs
Its battery related problem.

Hello everyone!
So I kinda love my HTC 10 and I really want to keep it working.
I have my HTC 10 and some time ago I actualy started to have problems with my battery. For example phone died on 50% and then said it has 1% when restarted, restarting when cold (this mostly happened when the power saving mode was off). Also when i had like 35% and used my camera, there has been like blinking stripes over the picture and sometimes the phone turnt off instantly. Also when I am using some application, sometimes when i switch to another one, the phone freezes for a second and the screen locks and i have to use screen code (Cant use print like after restarting the phone completly). Also I used the App called AccuBattery and the app always said after a lot of recharges that the capacity of the battery is like 52%.
So i visited one of the repair places here in my city and they said its the battery problem so they actualy changed it for a new one. Unfortunately the same is happening and the battery app still shows like 52% capacity.
Anyone got ideas what should I do?
Also before i had the stock rom and now i tried to install the LeeDroid ROM to see if it helps.

I would run an RUU.
this will reset your battery stats, although flashing leedroid should have done this, but an ruu is the best method (then flash leedroid after)
what is your location and how much were you charged for the battery replacement?
I can't find any local shops here that will touch it.

and RUU is ROM Update Utility
restore the stock ROM and firmware.
then u can reflash twrp and leedroid
backup your internal as it will remove it

Seems so. If was at 52% and battery was replaced, , accubattery should update accordingly to new battery capacity.
Mine is from release day and at 70%
Does the reboot at 30% and reboots to 1% sometimes too.
RUU, many guides,
https://www.google.com/search?q=xda...ndroid-google&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
Do the research first, it's all available.
Enjoy that new battery!
P.s. Are u not getting better battery, or just going by accubattery? On same rom u need to clear accubattery cache so it can read values from new battery
Perhaps an RUU isn't needed..
What're you trying to accomplish exactly?
I could of read things wrong

Sadly i don't think this is a software issue, experienced with htc m8, galaxy s6 edge and now with htc 10. I also wiped everything, flashed everything, and nothing helps, it is definitely a bad battery problem. And here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also in Croatia, no one will open it to replace the battery, can't belive this is happening in the US too
Once i tried to do it by myself with the htc m8 and ended with replacing baterry, than, display, than volume buttons and at the end, gps never worked again:cyclops: so, never again.
Next phone priorities: big battery, easy to open

And here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, also in Croatia, no one will open it to replace the battery, can't belive this is happening in the US too
Once i tried to do it by myself with the htc m8 and ended with replacing baterry, than, display, than volume buttons and at the end, gps never worked again:cyclops: so, never again.
Next phone priorities: big battery, easy to open

I'm not saying it's software.
I could be misunderstanding his post.
I thought I read hid battery was replaced.
If so accubattery shouldn't still say 53%
But a I would personally do an RUU if my battery was replaced, but that's me.
A shop or 2 *may* do it but it'd be cheaper to find a new in the box htc 10 sadly.
I don't trust myself to open this phone.
My m8 battery is in great shape. I think nearly 95% capacity of the 2800mah, I'm at around 70% of htc 10.
I don't do charging over 85% hardly ever.
Wish I got a refurb from Verizon before warranty expired

I replaced battery on my htc m8, and it was the battery from the m9 it fits in m8, and acubattery showed 108% after one reboot and a few charging cyclus, so i didn't need to RUU it. Maybe htc 10 will update it's battery capacity, but i think they didn't replaced with new battery, maybe it was used and they didn't know that it is that bad...
I hope you understand me, English is not my mother language but i try my best

Nice, my m9 sat in a drawer lol. Loved m8 too much,
But I was responding to OP, so I'm all around confused now lol.
RUU may be too far that's just me.
But I'd at least clear accubattery data and cache so it's fresh and can read new battery.
Otherwise you have data from old and new battery.

For example phone died on 50% and then said it has 1% when restarted, restarting when cold (this mostly happened when the power saving mode was off). Also when i had like 35% and used my camera, there has been like blinking stripes over the picture and sometimes the phone turnt off instantly.

Interesting that I'm dealing with this same problem, too. I'm running MaximusHD 2.7.0 (yes, it's that old!) and I'm wondering if, because of the restores from TWRP backups, that the battery stats are borked.
Any suggestions on what to do here? I'd really rather not flash an RUU. Would you say it's possible to reinstall MaxHD without wiping data to see if that helps?
Thanks in advance!

I took it back to the service place and they said the problem should be the battery. They kept it for tests. I will let you know.
HTC in bootloop
Hello Everyone,
My HTC 10 started to have boot loop when its 50% battery. I didn't care about it in the beginning.
After a while, it's only in the boot loop not turning at all. I tried recovery mode and everything when tried
that it's just boot looping nothing else. Is there any way that I can erase and install the stock HTC 10 file system using
PC or any other way that I can save this phone??
Thanks in advance
I have the exact same problem as the op. Have you guys found any solutions?
edit: I THINK clean flashing oreo firmware then latest RUU then twrp then lineage fixed my issue, charging to full rn will drain it over the next day and report back if its gone for good
