Review of Heavy Duty vertical pouch w/pics!!! - General Accessories

This is a review of generic Zizo Heavy Duty vertical pouch: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Heavy-Duty-...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item2576ce4d88 The metal tag says something which appears like "Zizo", and it's on ebay for $7.61 shipped (local US).
As everybody knows, I typically review cases among other accessories. I have mentioned Seidio holsters and their universal fit with other cases, but pouches hasn't been my focus in the past. After seeing constant requests from people looking for pouches that are roomy enough to fit Note 2 in a case, I decided to explore this option. On a personal note, I'm not a fan of pouches, especially horizontal leather ones that look like a giant reading glasses case. When it comes to clipping Note 2 in a case to a belt, it's gotta be something decent looking and not bulky. This Zizo Heavy Duty Vertical Pouch is IT!!!
Even so it's classified as heavy duty, it's actually very light weight at only 62g. Dimensions are approximately 95mm x 150mm and it's actually relatively slim. The material/texture is heavy duty cross-stitched construction nylon, actually very nice quality. The inner back part of the pouch, the side that will be in contact with phone's screen, is made out of soft micro-fiber material. The flap of the case is equipped with a strong velcro to hold it securely closed. Walls of the pouch are expandable, made out of heavy duty elastic material. That's actually a perfect solution for universal fitment of this pouch with any case. One of the walls has an extra loop so you can either put a pen or put a keychain ring, etc. The back of the pouch has a belt loop (about 50 mm wide), threaded with heavy duty double stitching. On top of that you have a solid one piece metal belt clip, very solid construction. And if that's not enough, you also have a small metal loop to hook up lanyard. Pretty much they thought of every possible way to carry this pouch, not too mention that you can even put it in your pocket. Although being thin, this pouch is actually nicely padded and will offer a protection in addition to the case you already have on.
And speaking of cases, this pouch fits them ALL!!! I tested it with Zerolemone 9300mAh/TPU, UAG, Casemate Tough, Casemate Pop, Seidio CONVERT, and Otterbox Defender, each one documented with a picture below. Between these cases and monster ZL battery - pretty much everything is covered. By heavy duty nature of this case, I would HIGHLY recommend it for anybody who is planning to use it outdoors, hiking, biking, on a trip, etc. But even for everyday use it will make a great accessory to carry your Note 2 with your case inside of this pouch. Even so elastic sides of the case don't go all the way down to the bottom, I still think this pouch will protect your phone even if you get into a rain where the nylon shell should keep it dry. Obviously, you can use it with a naked N2 as well, but I think it's a Perfect and Secure solution to carry N2 with ANY case on your belt!!! Definitely a must have accessory in my book.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Btw, look at it this way, nobody going to think you are carrying Note 2 phablet inside, so you pretty safe walking around with it anywhere

It would match my duty belt perfectly.

Kris I just got a pouch that actually fits on my duty belt and looks better. I'll review it later today.

Even better. I wish they had a reinforced one that would fit my phone. I swear the first punk that fights me and breaks my phone is gonna be broken upon booking.

for $7 I'll get just for the heck of it

I wear an external vest carrier. Used to carry my phone in my top pocket but that puts it in the way when I had to grapple someone. Now I can wear this one of my left hip and it's out of the way even when I get in/out of my patrol car.
Sorry Vectron! Didn't mean to sidetrack your review bro!

No problem, officer apallohadas! Please post a picture/review of the holster/pouch you are talking about. I'm curious as well! I remember someone posted another heavy duty pouch used for military/hunting type of activities, but I don't recall the link. It was some outdoor company that makes backpacks, I think, but not Cabela's.
With a heavy duty one I reviewed, sure it's not the prettiest one to wear out'n'about. But it's exactly what I have been looking for when we go on a trail and I have to chase after my kids or if/when I go biking. Keeping N2, especially with additional weight of ZL9k3, in a pocket is not convenient even with cargo shorts. This belt clip is very secure, no springs or plastic parts to break off, extra padding gives it a good protection, and the most important part for me - it fits any case because of elastic expandable side-walls.

@vectron
thanks again for your reviews
I bought this case/holster based off your reviews and pictures.
I also bought a ZeroLemon 9300mah battery based off your reviews.
Yes verticle case is ugly, but it stood the test of time. My work requires me to go in and out of cars on a daily basis. My other phones had otterboxes, those clip holsters broke all the time getting caught on the seatbelt. This holster does too bet never did it break off.
I would like to add why i am posting this up.
This verticle case fits the zerolemon battery....here's my post about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43549391#post43549391

I bought that same case but could not stand the Velcro so I removed it replaced it with magnets.

with $2.75 shipping , but still a better deal as long as its local US seller!

Bought the case from ebay should be here tomorrow. My husband broke 2 belt clips from otterbox already so this should solve his problem. Otterbox is sending us 2 extra holster so we'll see.

You mean defender? Note 2 with Zerolemon fits perfectly with room to spare where I add 2-3 credit cards and a few bills. The sides of this pouch are elastic and stretchable, it should expand and the pouch itself is deep enough... still talking about the case, for anybody else grinning - wipe it off your face So, I'm suspecting you might got a wrong one sent by mistake? Defender case is the same dimensions as Note 2 with zerolemon, so it should definitely work (assuming you have defender holster off).

Yes sir. Defender with no holster did not fit. It was super tight and the flap would not close over it. I'll try to upload pics sometime this week but I'm going to write to the ebay seller. I used your link by the way so it could be that they sent the wrong item

UPDATE: Shoot out, LoL!
$2.55 case vs $7.61 case!
Phone has ZeroLemon 9300 extended battery case
Following is the $2.55 case
Following is the original $7.61 case
$2.55 case on left, $7.61 case on right
New $7.61 case vs 3 month old $7.61 case on the right of course LoL
$2.55 case will fit the note 2 with a zero lemon battery in it much better than the $7.61 case. the $2.55 case is wider where as the $7.61 case will require some stretching to fit the zerolemon case.
As you can see the $7.61 case only lasted 3-4 months for me of daily work usage. it got a little wet from the rain once or twice.
Right now, since they are so cheap, i bought two $2.55 cases, after shipping it came out to $10 ish, still cheaper than the $7.61 case

Surface II or active

This is my final question about a case for my Evo, Im down to the Seidio Innocase II Surface and the Active which case will be the better choice? I red a couple reviews about the active not fitting correctly and i heard horror stories about the surface scratching the edges
I love my blue Seidio Innocase II Surface Case (looks purple on amazon)... Fits tight, no play. I have to go slow when I put it on so that I don't lift up the edge of my invisashield.
I think my case is the active and I hate it. The back has started to peel and a corner broke like it came unglued. I'm going to get an otterbox instead I think.

Looks like you have the innocase active limited edition, available only through amazon. I have the same and the plastic skeleton doesn't fit 100% perfectly, but it's not bad. I too had some clips (top and bottom right) break off, but mine gets banged up a lot while i'm at work so I wasn't too surprised.
The regular innocase active looks like the skeleton has been enlarged to prevent the clips from breaking.
I just ordered an otterbox commuter case and a seidio innocase rugged combo.
Personally, I like having the combo of a hard shell with the soft cushion of the silicone.

I had the exact same thing happen, but sedio did honor the warranty. Just a thought.
I bought the PT brand from Best Buy today and I believe it is the same as the surface. It is made by Seidio but labeled differently.
I love it. Doesn't add much bulk and feels good in the hand.
Well maybe I'll give them a call about the warranty. I like the overall case design just disappointed in the flaws I've had with it so far. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm in the same boat, my rugged has had the corners break off both on my case and my wife's.
I don't think I want to pay for the shipping to replace it through warranty though...I think I may just wait for TridentCase to make a Kraken case for the Evo.
Well, just got the seidio rugged case today and i'm really not impressed. Basically a larger version of the active limited edition. The plastic skeleton seems better quality though. Cheap port covers. My suggestions to seidio: take the rugged and shrink it to fit without the surface. Then make the belt clip so the phone can be inserted face in AND face out and reconfigure the top latch to be smaller/smoother.
Long story short, I switched back to my active limited while I wait for the trident cyclops and the otterbox commuter cases that I ordered to arrive.
Ps: I noticed that the exoskelleton from the rugged fits PERFECTLY over the one from the active limited.

No problems with my innocase active I got from eBay, I've seen a lot of people complaining about the limited edition one Amazon sells, very happy with mine though, and ebay had it cheaper than seidio's website. The otterbox isn't bad but only comes in one color I think.

Hate to be a bother, but anyway you or anyone can post pictures of their Active case? I'm on the fence about buying one, and if I do it'll be the Active case with holster combo.
Seidio says the camera does not touch any flat surface with the case, and it actually looks as if it doesn't add TOO much bulk to the phone like some others, and a couple of the Otterbox's I was looking at fall into that category.

The camera does not touch on a flat surface.
The case adds very little bulk, but it will sure seem like it does when you hold the evo naked after using it a while. Same for any case of this type.
I have the regular active (not the LE with smaller outer shell) and the rubbery outer coating has worn off in the corners like in the pics of the LE that were posted. I'm sure this is due to my using it in a snug leather case, and is confined to the corners. No big deal to me. You can only tell if you look closely.
As far as fit goes, it is snug and well designed. Button use is as good as naked. Only complaint is dust builds up slowly on the left side where the outer shell fits into the soft inner layer. I take it apart and rinse the soft layer off every couple weeks.
My phone has taken several 3ft drops (off desk, out of shirt pocket while tying shoe lace) and is completely unharmed.
Is it the best case in the world? Maybe not, but it is comfortable to hold and protects the phone very well.
If this one were to break, I may try the otterbox but I'm not parting with it any time soon.
The pictures on Seidio's web site are better than what I could send you.

fanboy much?
I have the New Blue/Black Active Case and i LOVE it it fits perfectly its easy to take off if you need to swap batteries or put it in a dock, the new STyle Active is very durable doesn't crack easily.
Ive had mine for months now and the only visable issue with the back is where the Seidio name is its rubbing off from being set down and rubbed against other than that it's great it fits perfectly doesn't shift no gaps nothing.
the pictures they posted for the active in the beginning of this post is from the Active LIMITED it was their trial run before they changed it to the new Style

Boxwave Case + Holster with Kickstand Review (Pics)

Hey everyone so I just received this case and I wanted to give you guys a rundown on what I think about it.
So the case in question is this one. As you can see from the pictures it is a hard 1-piece case that snaps on to the phone, as well as a holster with a soft fabric lining that will not scratch the screen, and a kickstand.

The case itself is very nice. It has a good solid fit with the phone, no moving or sliding off here. It is made of a rubberized material that feels good in the hand, and the texture on the back provides a good grip. There are cutouts for the power and volume buttons so they are easy to press. As with most cases of this style, the top and bottom of the phone are exposed, BUT the case goes around the corners and extends off the top/bottom ever so slightly, that the case should absorb the main blunt of the impact, should the phone land on that position. The case comes up about 1mm off the screen so that the screen will not touch the surface if you place it face down. All in all I like the way it looks and feels, and I feel it provides adequate protection to the phone.
The holster is made of the same material as the case. Once again, the finish feels good in the hand. It has 3 "arms" that secure the phone in place when it is in the holster. It snaps into place and it feels secure and sturdy. The phone can be put into the holster with either the screen facing in or out. There is a soft fabric material on the inner side of the holster that protects the screen from scratching when the phone is mounted with the screen facing in. The clip on the holster is the star here, because it doubles as a kickstand. It rotates 180 degrees which allows you to position it any way you want. You simply open the clip and pull out a metal prop to keep the clip in its open position, and you've got yourself a kickstand. Another useful feature is that you can mount the clip onto the vents in your car to use it to hold the phone while using GPS navigation. This is really handy for those of use who live in a state where it's illegal to mount a GPS device on the windshield. Once again the holster is superb and incredibly useful.
Overall I'd definitely recommend this case to anyone who wants something sleek that doesn't add a lot of bulk, but that still wants good protection against drops. The holster with the kickstand makes it great for watching movies and videos. And the fact that you can mount it on your car vents for GPS navigation make this an awesome product. I definitely recommend!
WARNING:There is a similar case for this phone on eBay, but it is NOT the same! DO NOT BUY IT! I bought both and the eBay one is garbage! It doesn't even fit properly, adds a lot more bulk, and you can't mount the phone on the holster with the screen facing out (essentially making the kickstand feature useless!!).
Here is how to tell the difference: The ebay ones have only TWO "arms" to secure the phone:
And they have a SMALL cutout by the speaker, instead of a big one like the Boxwave one:
Don't buy the ebay ones they are garbage (unless you find a boxwave case on ebay). Don't make the same mistake I did.
Nice review. Now only if someone would make an ultra thin snap on case with a kickstand. Had one for my iphone and loved it.

Yeah I also wanted something thin that didn't add a lot of bulk. I think this fits that need.
It is nice and it doesn't add too much bulk. I just wish it had a locking clip on the top. Great buy for $13 bucks.

I really appreciate the review. It's EXACTLY the case i want. I've seen the boxwave for the Galaxy Nexus and Iphone up close first and and really like them. I also saw the cheap knockoff on the iphone and after one drop and keeping it in the pocket, the exterior matte finish was wearing off badly.
I have this Boxwave product as well. It's very nice. The stand feature works well and this case doesn't add much bulk at all. It's keeper.
Just thought I'd give an update. My boxwaves matte finish is wearing off after one week of use.

Btw .. you mind giving some input on the quality of that belt clip and is it good enough for day to day use? I actually like the seidiko combo better but since I paid 6 bucks (shipping) for tis phone after instant rebate and waived upgrade fee .. it doesn't seem justified to spend $45 for a case to go on a $6 phone ... but if the clip is too weak I might just give in and invest in something more sturdy.
Thanks for the info!

That's the knockoff the op was warning about, isn't it?
yes, its the knockoff...i bought it first a long time ago...broke the belt clip off of it...then saw the other one..bought it, and just recently broke the belt clip off of that one as well
the knockoff is just as good except for 1 thing..the phone doesnt fit with the screen facing outwards...so you cant use it as a kickstand to watch videos...if your looking for a case/holster it does the job just the same
my conclusion after buying both (and breaking both) is that the case/holster is nice but delicate...both times i broke it i was barely doing anything..i just tapped it and the cheap plastic tab that holds the belt clip broke off
i ended up spending like $28 total for both...and im back to my old TPU case and leather pouch...i dont have to worry about breaking the pouch..ive had it for like 2 years already..used it with my vibrant and it also fits the SG2..im sure the seidio combo is a lot more durable
also, if you got the SG2 for free thats great..however that doesnt change the value of the phone..its still a $600 phone, if you really want to protect it you gotta spend the $$...consider yourself lucky to be able to get the SG2 and a great case for only $51

Yeah I agree .. i actually like that seidio case too and it looks sturdy enough. I guess seidio it is
1 huge problem I experienced: The phone is not clipped into the holster and will pop out with when the moons line up. I wear mine horizontally and the moons lined up the other day and it hit the ground ... and when the sleeve hit the ground, the phone popped out too.
Other than that, everything else was cool but since this a biggie for me, I'm on the prowl for another case.
nooooooo!!!! i wish i saw this thread sooner. already ordered the ebay one...

Seidio case and holster beats Otterbox

I just noticed Seidio have released a rugged case and holster for the Note which they call "Active".
On my Nexus One I had the less rugged "Surface" cover and it was great. The holster is awesome provided you make sure never to get a bit of your shirt in the holster and pull the phone out as I did once.
The holster has a spring loaded clip which is fantastic. Not like the Otterbox flexing plastic clip. I haven't used the Otterbox holster but the Seidio looks much better.
My Nexus One had one drop onto concrete in the case and was fully protected. The case had a corner don't and tiny crack about 4mm but was ready to go round two. Note is 50% heavier but Active has reinforced corners.
The model they have for the Note also has rib exo skeleton (maybe ABS plastic?) which goes to the corners and side in a six point asterisk configuration for extra tough support over the soft rubbery plastic under case.
The Active is $30 for case, $30 for holster or $50 for both together in the combo pack.
They are also making a not yet available version with a kickstands on the Active case for an extra $5 at $35. Same holster. Kickstand Combo $55.
I'm giving them a week to see if they bring out the kickstand model. Otherwise I'll spring my $50 for the regular Active Combo. It was great on my Nexus One. I can't wait to get this onto my Note and onto my jeans belt :-D
I will have to ditch my extended battery to fit. But I have one of those cheap ebay 10,000mah battery packs to recharge on the go now and its great

I had the active case with kickstand and it was the best phone case I have ever had. I had the Otterbox commuter case on my HD2 and it broke. The replacement broke as well. I am not an Otterbox fan. Totally sold on the Seidio active case. I would preorder it now if they let me.
I've had Seidio cases that were awesome and some that fell apart. I've had Otters that were awesome and some that fell apart. Both companies are hit or miss in my experience.
I've had Trident and Ballistic cases and all of them were durable and beautiful.
I ordered a combo case last week. Should be here sometime this week, looking forward to it.
Is there anything that can beat it? I see Case Mate is here for Note and it looks good. But no holster means no deal for me.
Does Seidio have any rugged competitors?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Wow. I live in Spain and I was about to order the case when I saw shipping was 35 dollars. Total rip off. Case mate only charges 7 dollars. I guess I'll go with case mate as soon as I find out how much thicker it makes the device.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note.
Yeah Seidio are expensive. I'll either pay for it though or switch to Galaxy S3 AND 7 or 10" Note... none of which are available yet...
Probably cheaper to put my Note into a new Seidio suit than two devices into Seidio suits ;-)

I think the price is reasonable. Not the shipping costs.

Im concerned about how thick it makes the device...i know the surface ones only add about 1mm..
hopefully its still pocketable
Very little added. Less bulk than the Case that at&t has.
Just to see if it would fit, I popped on the speck black at&t case, and it fits
the Seidio belt clip/holder perfectly.
So if you have that one, or something very similar, you can get just the
Seidio belt clip.

I'm a big fan of the Otterbox Commuter Series case for my SGS II. This looks like a really good alternative while Otterbox sort themselves out in releasing a case for the Note.
Here are some photos of the Seidio case, next to a 10 dollar case I found
on the internet here> http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260961000978&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:1123
I actually like this 10 dollar case almost if not more than the Seidio case

Notice how the cutouts for the on/off & volume sort of cover the buttons?
They don't seem to bother it when you want to use them. The other
cases have the rubber sticking over them, and at times when it is in the
clip and I sit down (mine stays on my left hip, means on/off is pointed DOWN)
I see the phone light up because it strikes my pants leg and activates it.
Here it is with the kick stand sticking out.
And here is a photo of BOTH empty cases laying side by side. As you can
see, the cheapy case is a little thinner than the Seidio case.
There ya go...hope it helps. I'm going to use the 10 dollar case from
China this week, see how it goes. I ordered it on Feb 26, a Sunday
in the states, Monday in Hong Kong. I received it via standard mail
on Monday, March 12 in Missouri.
i dont like that because the top/bottom edges are exposed, no good on a drop
Yep, that is the problem with it, but, I'm VERY careful. Ran my Dell Streak for over a year without any case or screen protector on it, just the microfiber pouch.
I don't use screen protectors at all. The only reason I put this plastic/rubberish case on it is because it fits the belt clip like a glove. Oh, the bottom being exposed for me anyway, has the side benefit of fitting the charging dock without having to strip it out of the case.

In order to use the holster to fit good, do you need the seido case? Can the holster be used if there's no case?
Im still searching for a nice holster
No, it will "fit", but it's VERY loose. I'd be afraid it would fall out.

Thanks for posting the pics! So all of my other seidio holsters have a rotating clip with strong ratchet. Can you move this holster to be vertical as well a horizontal? From the picture it looks like you can only do horizontal.
Interesting find on Seidio Active Combo
I posted earlier in the ATT forum how I was disappointed in the lack of a good current coupon for a Seidio Active combo.
Turns out that Google really is your friend. I found and ordered the same product from this vendor. The price represents a 30% discount to Seidio's price. I also did not have to pay sales tax (sorry New Yorkers) that I would if I had ordered from Seidio. (They are in Texas).
They also accept paypal which made it super easy to order! If you are interested in this combo, this might save you a bit of money.

AFAIK Griffin don't actually produce a Survivor case for the S3. There are imitation ones that are branded Survivor but are NOT Griffin. How do I know? Cos I've got one lol!

Yes it adds bulk.... Any case that offers top level protection well add bulk.
Otterbox defender
Trident kraken
Seidio Obex
Ballistic SG jazz and the HC series (coming soon)
And this case.
All add bulk.
You give up the sleek thin design for mil spec protection.

I just ordered one as well!
I find that the OtterBox cases aren't as well designed as Griffin's Survivor's. Seems that the Griffin team does a better job designing cases, a lot more thoughts go into designing the Survivor cases than the Defenders. Griffin's marketing term is "over engineered".
I've got cases from both companies, for various devices (iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPad, iPad 3) from both companies and from my personal observation… Griffin's cases are a lot more articulate. For instance, the iPhone 5 Defender case (by OtterBox)'s bottom area are somewhat more exposed than Griffin's, allowing moisture to come into contact with the phone. In the Griffin Survivor iPhone 5, it's got this thin membrane that covers the speakers and mic holes.
The thing I find different about Griffin's more recent cases (mid-2012 models) are exponentially more complicated to put on than the OtterBox cases. Perhaps this is a good thing, as you're not expected the case off your phone very often.
Griffin's design philosophy is rather different than OtterBox's. Griffin's approach is to take the device and insert it into a plastic frame, then wrap silicone shell, and then securing the entire "assembly" with front-plate that protects the face of the device.
Different from the OtterBox, where you place the device into a two-piece plastic frame that snaps together, then lastly wrapping it with a silicone shell. I should also mention, that the design on most OtterBox cases are less "water-proof" than Griffin's.
In the iPhone 5's Defender, the camera cutout at the back is exposed; while with the Griffin's Survivor the camera perfectly covered with a flap. Now, back in the iPhone 4/4S model, this is actually an annoyance as you've got to hold the frap with your finger as you're taking a picture. With the more recent Survivor models, they've redesigned this and made the flap pivot to the base frame. Yes, it can be an annoyance if you wanna take pictures really quick (having to open the flap, etc.) but heh… I like Griffin's approach better. This applies to the Galaxy SIII Survivor case as well. If you compare the photos on Griffin's product page, you can see that the back part of the Survivor case perfectly covers the camera + flash, using a flap.
The aesthetics… well, this is a subjective topic. I do find the mid-2012 OtterBoxes cases are more sleek looking than Griffin's Survivor. Griffin's Survivor does remind me of Master Chief though, especially because of that Squareish bumps, hexagonal texture. It's a lot more military looking than OtterBox's.
Where OtterBox wins is the design on their holster. Griffin's holster design is very minimal, as it barely covers any surface.
To put it short, Griffin's Survivor cases covers more of your phone's surface area more than OtterBox's.
One last note: Griffin's silicone shell is also a lot thicker than OtterBox's. I find it a lot more cushioning. But it's also a lot bulkier than OtterBox.
Damn, I should do a full on comparison.
Didn't see an answer to this question. How is the screen protector? Is it the same material as the otterbox defender?

Review of Seidio SURFACE w/holster for Note 3 w/lots of pics!!!

This is review of Seidio SURFACE case with holster for Galaxy Note 3. http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung...ekickstand-combo-black-p/bd2-hr3ssgt3k-bk.htm
When you have a winning formula with a popular design, why re-invent the wheel? That seems to be a general idea behind all Seidio cases with SURFACE, ACTIVE, and CONVERT models. I have used and reviewed their cases for Note 2, S4, and now starting my reviews for Note 3. One interesting thing I have discovered, even so the wheel is not re-invented - it is always fine-tuned with new details and subtle improvements. So let's take a look of what Seidio guys cooked for us with this newly introduced case for Note 3.
SURFACE is the slimmest case in Seidio collection, but contrary to some other slim cases it actually offers an acceptable level of protection (both scratch and drop) for everyday use. Designed as two interlocking sliding pieces, it offers a unique way to go on the phone and to take it off without pulling/stretching the edges of the case. Once both of the halves put together, it stays securely intact even if you drop it down. Made out of hard plastic material, it's lined with a soft felt layer inside to keep your phone from scratching and for extra shock dampening. Outside has a very soft rubberized coating to improve the grip, and to add extra friction once you put it on the surface - it will not slide if you bump it off any surface. Also, it provides a decent enough lip to put the phone down without worrying of scratching it's display and allowing extra space margin for screen protector. Assembled, it feels very solid and secure in your hand, rubberized finish is very nice to the touch and at the same time will not pull your pants pockets once you take your Note 3 out.
There was something I've been very curious about prior to receiving this case. Note 3 has a camera/flash bump on the back, it's not flush mounted with a phone battery cover. This should not be a problem with any regular case, but how does it work with SURFACE since you have to slide it on the phone? To my pleasant surprise this detail was not overlooked and Seidio came up with a groove in the upper half of the case so that camera/flash unit doesn't get scratched, and once assembled nothing sticks out beyond the case surface. And speaking of the cutouts, everything is perfectly aligned and easily accessible. There are no sharp edges, every cutout has a nice rounded finish. I especially like the generous opening for power and volume buttons, an improvement from their Note 2 model. You will not have any issues accessing s-pen, or getting to your charging port, and even should have plenty of room or headphones with larger plugs.
Of course, the review of SURFACE will not be complete without mentioning of their unique kickstand - one of the best built-in kickstand available with any of the cases. It's not some cheap plastic after-thought addition, but rather a high quality metal kickstand with magnetic mechanism to snap it back when not in use. From my experience of using it with Note 2, there is no interference with s-pen. The kickstand can only be used in landscape view which is very convenient when you want to enjoy watching videos on your Note 3. And to complete this package, you also have Seidio's holster with one of the best in class spring loaded latches. If you prefer to wear your Note 3 with SURFACE on your belt, this holster will be the best solution for it with inner felt-lining to protect the display from scratching, clip that swivels in 7 angles, and easy to access latch that keeps phone secure in while also allowing one handed operation to remove the phone.
Overall, if you are looking for a great minimal case that offers both scratch and drop protection (although not as much of heavy duty drop), and a convenience of solid kickstand and holster - SURFACE is the top candidate in that class. Also, keep in mind that once CONVERT shell is available, you will be able to add another layer of heavy duty protection on top of SURFACE. Definitely a must have for your Note 3!
Here are the pictures.

wth is taking them so damn long on the active

Just a quick update. As some might have noticed, original SURFACE had missing temp/humidity port opening on a side next to s-pen. Seidio corrected that problem with an updated case. I took some pictures below for confirmation.
Active was renamed Dilex and is available - Got mine yesterday.

I know it doesn't directly pertain to the thread, but I've been interested in a Active/Dilex case. I've got a concern about the rigidity of the silicone, though. I mainly carry my phone in my pocket, and over the years I've used Otterbox. But the silicone always gets all floppy and starts tearing and breaking off. How rigid is the silicone part of the Dilex? Maybe some pictures if you get the chance?

I would recommend not getting the Dilex then. I carry mine like you do, and only used my Dilex for a week before I took it off. No rigidity whatsoever. Lint magnet. It kept lint on the screen as well.
It's waiting on my wife to get her Note 3 so she can use it in and out of her purse.
Anybody using a tempered glass screen protector with the surface? Are they compatible?
Happy with mine, is the updated one (as you can see here):

I know that a lot of users here on xda have a tempered glass screen protector. I assume that plenty also have the Surface and would've posted if there was a problem. People are more often to voice their opinion when dissatisfied than satisfied.

That is certainly true. I think I will just get a nicely slim one on the assumption it'll work and then voice my opinion if dissatisfied later
EDIT: Looks like the Spigen one is a no-go, but one user reports that the iLoome works with his Surface (the iLoome flex one is the thinnest available as far as I can tell).
