so ive been searching for a similar thread for a while, and have finally decided to post and ask for input.
so i followed a tutorial on galaxynote2root (new user, cant post a url) on how to root my phone, and it all went fine and dandy, but when i tried to go into TWRP it always went into system recovery. I tried again to root, and it shows the number of custom binaries downloaded is 5 (i tried a few more times...)
I downloaded the latest Odin and the latest TWRP, and have looked at a few other tutorials, all saying the same thing.
I downloaded an app called Quick Boot, and it says that im not rooted, but the ODIN MODE screen says i have 5 custom binaries downloaded.
Im still running the Samsung official binary, and my system status is official.
do you guys have any ideas? id be glad to hear any. thanks in advance.
You have to uncheck auto reboot in odin. When the green pass! shows unplug usb and remove battery. Replace battery. Hold vol- home and power to boot to recovery. Flash su.zip. when recovery asks to fix root swipe for yes. Now the recovery install on boot script is disabled so twrp will stick.

I tried several times the other day with same problem. Really a pain the the butt when you have an otterbox wrapped around your Note 2. They need to update or change the how to videos posted as they are giving incorrect information.

Hi all,
First, I did try and look for an answer before posting this question.
About me, I'm a former WebOS user. And I am still considering myself a newbie when it comes to Android rooting, superuser and mods.
I was on EL02, like most people. I had rooted my phone using the youtube videos posted here and also had Clockwork installed.
A few days ago, I ran the EL29 auto update posted here on xda. I used the NODATA version held power + vol dwn and when I rebooted all my apps and data were intact. Perfect!
It went fine, but I have a few problems I need to fix, which I'm not going to into with this post.
I am wondering how to get the Clockwork installed.
I thought that was going to get installed automatically but it wasn't.
According to the instructions posted here, it said to do option C. But the problem is I am never given the opportunity to enter any options when doing the update. The ODIN just uses that NODATA script and there is nothing else I can do from what I see.
When I do reboot into developer mode, power + vol up, I am getting just 4 options:
1) reboot system now
2) apple update from sdcard
3) wipe data/factory reset
4) wipe cache partition
That's it, when I have EL02 with Clockwork, I have many more features, such as: Backup, Restore, Restore from SD etc.
How do I get that stuff back, I'm assuming that what I have now is stock without Clockwork.
And as I said in the instructions it talked about option c to install Clockwork, but I was never offered that option. I never had the screen show in the instructions.
Maybe I was not supposed to have done a Power + Vol DWN and maybe I should have done a Power + Vol UP. But it didn't say this.
So I'm lost now.
Thanks for your expertise and help!
Rob

Yeah, they are referring to "autoroot" option c.

If you want CWM use Option C in the Auto Root Package to install EL29+CWM (you are already rooted so Option A is not necessary)

Was running a GB27 rom. Phone was asleep and went to turn the screen on. It wouldnt come on so I held down the power button to get it to reboot which I've had to do before and nothing. I pull the battery and start it back up and it boot loops at the Sprint screen. Try to flash a new kernel and rom but Odin always sicks at Nand write start. Any info on what to do to get it up and going?

If OP can't boot, that will not work.

Ok this phone refuses to flash anything through odin mode which is the only way I have of fixing it. Is there a rom out there that includes a PIT file?
Have you tried flashing just a kernel/recovery like el26+cwm or el29 direct boot with odin and then flashing a rom from recovery?

Heres the el26 tar you can try flashing in odin. Then just boot straight to recovery if it flashes then flash your rom from there and see if that gets you working.

Hello, i just purchased a new galaxy s3 virgin mobile edition..
I had like 6 updates when i turned it on and now i am on 4.4.2 kitkat which it's called kot in the system file..
Anyways i have been searching and searching for an easy oneclick root program..
I haven't been able to find anything that works at all...
So i am here to ask everyone on here..
Is there an easy sure fire way to root the galaxy s3 vm version?
That doesn't involve changing the rom or flashing something that might break something or brick my phone...
What happened to samsung? They used to be so easy to root and unlock it was like melting butter...
Thanks in advance
TowelRoot... Philz recovery has a one click root. Plenty of options. NDC is what your firmware is called BTW.

What I just told you to do (Philz Recovery, use the one that ends in ".tar.md5" in Odin- turn off auto reboot in Odin, it helps) then hit Reroot in Philz Settings after you get into Recovery, go into the Play Store and download SuperSU and go into the app and update binaries. This method is tried and true for your device.

Do you have a link to the Philz root page?
I'll try it if I feel like it's not gonna brick my phone. Never had to root through Odin..
Thanks

All major initial root methods always ask you to flash a custom recovery through Odin always.
What he explained is correct you are just going to flash Phil's custom recovery then boot it into recovery click re-root and once booted install SU and update binaries.

Have a great day! from my LG G3
I bought this samsung galaxy the T model. I rooted using ODIN>CWM>SUPERSU. Now i want to install wickedXrom but I have to update the bootloader to ND8 I believe or else risk bricking my phone. I've downloaded the philz recovery to odin flash it to my phone, but it doesnt show up after I click AP on ODIN, even though i have TWO philz recovery files in the folder. I tried removing ".md5" from the name and it turned into a zip file and that didnt help at all. The problem I'm having is with oDIN. If i try to flash "L710-ND8-Bootloader" I get a fail. If i try to flash philz it wont even show up under pda...
I've been researching and looking around for hours now before i finally decided to make a post.

It's good you're getting a fail. This doesn't apply to the L710T Model. Simply go to post #4 of my thread and there is a link to a tutorial on how to flash with the L710T Model. I'll update the OP to include this information so no one gets confused.

My ROMs: Wicked X & Wicked S5 Xperience
these are the instructions.. they're pretty simple but at #4 that file doesnt show up when I click PDA
1. Extract Download file
2. Put phone into download mode (power off, then power button + Volume Down, then volume up when prompted)
3. Open Odin (right click > open as administrator)
4. Load File L710VPUCND8_L710SPRCND8_L710VPUCND8_HOME.tar.md5 into the PDA slot
5. Start flashing
6. Grab some popcorn because it will take a while
So I tried going from atrium to alliance and got stuck in a bootloop of hell I guess..
I can boot into download mode but my odin seems useless because I don't even know how to reflash twrp through it.

That's me trying and failing to flash stock whatever to it.
Knox is tripped void.
Product name sm-g925T

What I've done so far:
Tried flashing BL/CP from Atrium to get it to be able to boot into recovery by putting the twrp into AP
Didn't work. I can't boot into twrp it all
All it ever does now is sit at the samsung galaxy s6 edge powered by android screen but I can get into download mode.
Can someone please give me a list of steps to rescue my phone from this hell? And tell me why all these odin things for twrp don't list step by step?
Sorry I'm just stressed out to the max right now and this isn't simple unbricking like my nexus was :/
Steps to fix: Put twrp in cp and flash
Boot into download mode hit cancel
hold vol up power home
Flashes angry red message
TWRP Opens
Gonna try flashing a rom and pray
Good luck, with FRP "off " it's not possible to get to boot again.
In the future FRP should be enabled "on".
Pp.
How to fix:
Reboot to twrp by the quickfix boot to download reboot hold vol up power home
install atrium
restart
profit.
Good to hear, profit.
Pp.
had the same exact problem tried reinstalling atrium but the rom is messed up wen it loads its like the screen isnt calibrated properly and ive tried reinstalling over and over again any ideas? also any other roms i try to install it stays stuck on the samsung s6 edge logo screen
