Hello Guys,
I had to encrypt my phone because of the Company i was working in before. And now when i quite i wanted to remove the Encryption by decrypting, But No, that does not work.
According to Samsung you have to Factorey reset the phone.
So i Did...
After that my Phone does not recognize any content on my SD card. I can not View pictures or Viedos. I can not listen to music or open office files.
If i add something to the SD card i can read and write to it. But i CAN NOT access the old info stored to the SD card before factory reset.
when i plug the the SD card into the Computer, i can not open any of the content, it´s like they are encrypted or something.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Well it does say when youre trying to factory reset that you won't be able to access encrypted sd card files as the encryption key will be erased with the reset..

So Stupid!
Yes, i saw that yesterday when i did factory reset again. i thought that if i use same password when encrypting that maybe i will get the same key and can unlock the files on my SD Card. but no... i did not work.
In other Words, the files are not damaged on the SD Card, they are encrypted, right ?
If no one in this forum can help me out, i will save the SD Card for the future.
Maybe technology will be able to solve this kind of issues or maybe i will get to know a nice Hacker that will offer his/her help.
Please let me know if there is an other solution out there.
Thanks.
I don't think anyone will be able to help you here, that's the whole point of encrypting it. Why do you think that your Company insisted on it in the first place?

Hi to everyone at this great website
I rooted my phone and everything has been working fine until yesterday i was trying to take pictures and was not able to take any at all and was getting an error that the evo was not able to access the sd card then I tried connecting it to my computer to see if there was anyway to access it through it and was unsuccessfull.
Please help without the files in the sd card I don't know if I can restore the phone back to factory settings if I need to return the phone
Please any one who can help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
I know this is like not helpful at this point, but I would recommend when u get this taken care of that you make a complete backup of you SD card with the nandroid backups and original restoration on a computer in case.this ever happens again. I did this and was saved when my SD card died on me. Good luck.
I bet there's a stock image out there somewhere.

Thanks for your comments, I hope other people can post other ideas as to how to recover from this problem.
Please help
Any one has any other recommendations? My problem is it doesn't detect the card at all. By the way I did made a copy of all the files the were in the SD card, but the problem is I can't copy to the SD card because it doesn't detect the card. I have even tried formating the card and that still didn't work.
Have you installed the OTA update? It was supposed to take care of this issue. Have you tried another SD card?
I just tried another card and it works then I tried the evo SD card im my blackberry and it doesn't work there either, so my conclusion is that the evo card is corrupted I can't even format it.
By the way once you root your phone I can't update unless it was the SD card problem not sure.
Thanks for your response
If you haven't installed the OTA update then I would just in case it is the problem. There is a rooted version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697636.

SD Card fix is described in post here and from another forum here.
I've been searching up and down and can't find what I'm looking for here, so first and foremost a preemptive apology should this thread exist and I was unsuccessful in finding it.
I had a couple of questions, does a FACTORY WIPE restore your SD card to a out of the box experience?
If I format my SD card, will installing a factory RUU restore the original content/data that was on the SD card, as you'd experience with a new phone? (think this is a no, but asking nonetheless.)
I have a bunch of stuff on my SD card and I can't recall what content was on there originally, and what content gets added with many of our rooted apps and just rooting in general. I remove the SD card when i take my phone in for service, seems the techs are getting kinda serious about seeing root related content on the sd card, but I got to thinking about the best method to return my phone to an OOTB experience. Thanks in advance!

No, a factory wipe does not wipe SD.....and what i do is just plug SD into comp and copy everything to a separate folder, then mess with it to see what it actually needs and find whats useless......and when it comes to the techs, just do the same but wipe SD card after backing it up.
So what happens when those unfortunate individuals have a bad SD card from which they can't recover it's data, they proceed to purchase a new card, and pop it into the handset. How does that stock content/architecture get pushed back onto the new SD card?

Yea, I believe so
Swyped from my EVO running CyanogenMod 6.1 Nightlies
Yeah you believe so what? Hehehe, sorry It's still clear as mud, and shy of just going ahead and formatting my sd card, and taking the ol' hands on approach, I'd much rather be lazy and someone point me to the definitive answer. Anyone?
Aside from the content which you may have loaded onto the card and want to keep, its ok to format. The operating system will re-install the needed folders onto the card. You could wipe all day long if you choose to and nothing will affect your device. Some folders will re appear instantly while others will appear once you've open the application associated with the folder. Nothing is on the card from the factory anyway. When the EVO was first released the included SD card had HTC Sync installed on it to save you the trouble of downloading it from their site. These cards had issues and needed to be replaced. Other than these early cards, their is no needed software or files on the cards.
Alright, now it's clear to me. Thanks you guys, was more of a sanity check for me got a few things I'm thinking of doing and wanted to start with an OOB experience.
I appreciate it!
Wiped SD Card
On a similar note. I partitioned my card and lost all content. I have yet to figure out a NAND backup but I manually copied everything on the mounted card to a folder on my desktop. However, after the partition a lot of my folders on the card remained empty. It seems everything is working properly now that I copied all the files back to it from my desktop. Any advise on the NAND backup? I'm rooted and NAND unlocked running Nuggy's Unlimited Evo RLS1 Evo 2.2, Radio 2.15.00.11.19, v3.70.651.1, PRI1.90_003, PRL 60675. Thanks

Then, i had a problem with the phone and until it got prepared i took the SD card out and put it somewhere safe for two weeks.... only to find that my SD card has been locked with a password!!!! DOH!
I didnt find any solutions except formatting then so i kept the SD in hope of a day that i might find some help. Now that i have an android, Is there any way android can help me unlock my card without wiping out the information in it?

google sd card password reset?
Hello everyone! I have a problem with my 8gb adata microsd card. It won't format. I tried formatting it before, but wouldn't do anything, and the program I was using wasn't responding, so I just took it out(Bad idea, I know). Now it won't format or do anything, all it does is show up. It has some weird files inside the microSD that I can't delete/move/etc. Help please?
It might be toast. There are some specific programs, that will let you pull the data off a bad card. You may need to find one and save what you want. Then put it in a new sd card. I wouldn't trust that one, even if you did fix it.

card is like $6 at walmart ....my info pics etc are worth way more to me just piece of mind is worth more ...try to get what u want and garbage it
Not sure what program you tried to format it with.
Try this https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5220128/SDFormatterv3.0.zip
have you tried formatting from the phone? That's usually how I format my cards.
I agree, if you pulled the phone or card while trying to format on your PC, you probably messed the file tables. It's going to be hit and miss on recovering your information. I don't think you'll find a program on Android to do, but maybe on the PC. Look for the ones that do it for crashed HDD or post formatted. You may be get lucky if the information didn't get written over and it's just the tables that are bad.
Please is it possible to recover my files, Moto g6 play XT 1922-5. The phone no longer recognizes the unlock pattern. I was using a 256GB SD card as internal memory, which was slowing it down and also had two cracks on the display. I believe that for one of these two reasons the phone stopped recognizing the unlock pattern. I had an emergency situation with my Daughters and I tried to unlock the phone until it went into factory reset mode. The phone started working again and I was able to use it to call but all my files were lost. I also forgot to remove the card so as not to affect it. The phone went from Android 8 to Android 9. I just retrieved my calendar from google. I had gone to two conferences and recorded audio of classes, company qrcodes, photos of equipment and stands. Sorry for the long text and the translation by google translator. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me solve this problem.
If the SD card wasn't encrypted you should be able to either read or recover the files.
Internal memory is much harder. Consider using a data recover company.

Thanks for listening. The SD card is as encrypted internal memory, I can't read the files. Here where I live there is no data recovery company. Only in bigger cities. anyway thanks for the help.
