super user - HTC One X

Hey guys,
So I've been installing custom roms on my HTC One X for a while, but I wouldn't call myself an expert or particullary good it. But this is the first time i've run into an issue with superuser.
I just installed Orio rom 11.0 and everything works fine except superuser, its telling me i need a binary update, ive tried 'recovery install' and just 'install' both give me the same error, "there was an error installing superuser. please send a log of the error to the developer". i checked the orio forum and they said i should boot into recovery and something should pop up? but nothing does :/ and btw i tried to post this in the orio forum, but since i dont post much XDA didn't let me post in there lol!
please help, i really want to use titanium backup for my apps and app data!
thanks in advance for your help!

install first the superuser apps then go in market install one of the superuser apps which are there..only one and then restart and try the update again...if not owrking go in recovery wipe cache and dalvik cache and try again

Did you try fully wiping again, and reinstalling the rom? Also, what version of recovery do you have? If it is 3.0.0.5 revert back to 2.5.1.2 (go into rom manager, all the way to the bottom, select "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" and choose 2.5.1.2) Then wipe and re-flash the rom.
ive read that people having this problem can fix it by wiping like 3 times.
BTW, CWM 2xxx isnt available in rom manager any longer

Hello,Guys I'm new in this community And Today i have rooted my wildfire And to ensure whether my fone is fully rooted or not.
I installed App Called "ROM MANAGER" And it worked...
So,Now it means my fone is fully rooted right..??(Correct me if i'm wrong )
So,Now all i want to know the easiest and safest Way To Install CM7(stable) if possible then please provide the link thnxx in advance
Help me
Yes its rooted, but, to install Custom ROMs, you will need to install a Custom Recovery (ie Clockworkmod).
There are 2 ways to go about it:
1) Fastboot - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680
2) PC49IMG - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130044
I have only used the Fastboot method so far, so if you need further assistance, just ask.
BTW, Both the above methods need S-OFF using AlphaRev X. If you are not having S-OFF, then simply use Unrevoked to install the Clockworkmod Recovery.
Once Clockworkmod Recovery install is complete, follow this post to install Custom ROMs like Cyanogenmod 7:

@xeno
Heyy thanx for replying "3xeno"
Just few minutes ago i installed titanium backup when this app starts
it's showing Root access : FAILED
And a msg popped up : "Sorry,i could not acquire root privileges - This Application will "not" work ! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox,and try again
Please Help me what the hell is happening ??
Got Superuser App in your App Drawer? Also, what exactly did you do to root your device? Did you use AlphaRev X or use Unrevoked?
Yup I got superuser automatically in app drawer and i used alpharev X
Weird, Then try installing Busybox from within Titanium Backup. (Press Menu Key, then Press "Problems", It''ll download Busybox).
Also, can you explain what all procedures you followed after getting S-OFF using AlphaRev X?
and bro one thing more
One minute ago i installed SHootme app and this app also asked me for superuser priveleges I allowed it and it worked...shootme app is working i don't know y titanium app is sayin like that ??
And yaa The method u posted in ur 1st post i hve already done that...i hve installed it via PC49IMG
Okay, well since you've got recovery you are now able to install custom ROM's.
Download the one you want (Cyanogenmod gives good performance),
put on your sdcard,
boot recovery (turn off, hold volume down and press power, use volume down to navigate to recovery, press power).
Backup stock ROM from backup & restore.
Wipe dalvic cache in advanced menu, wipe boot, data, system, cache in mounts and storage.
Then install zip from sdcard. Voila.

Titanium backup not giving you root previlages whereas other app gave. There is a possibility that you accidentally denied the "root permission" of titanium backup when you opened it for 1st time. As it will be in a remembered state it might be the issue. Open "superuser" from app drawer and check the root permission status of titanium backup. Another suggestion is to update the Su binary from superuser app. Then download busybox installer from market and install busybox from that. Then open titanium backup.
There is absolutely no risk in installing cm7. But do make nandroid backup of your current rom so that you can revert back anytime if you don't like it.

CM7 is an AOSP ROM, so obviously there will not be Sense in that, which is the proprietary of HTC. Refer this thread for lists on ROMs:

You are not getting me. CM7 is an AOSP ROM. AOSP stands for the Android Open Source Project, and is intended to be the base where Google releases their Android Source Code (Android is an open source OS after all).
CM7 is based on that. Obviously, Sense is an HTC Product, and hence is not a part of AOSP. If you want Sense, you will have to get a Sense ROM. Sense will NOT work on ANY AOSP ROM. I hope this is clear to you.
Again, refer the ROM list I gave you the link to in the previous post, I have segregated it based on whether a ROM is based on Sense or based on AOSP.
If you want Sense, you cannot use CM7.
For your 2nd query, yes, installing process is as you have described. However, make sure you perform a "Wipe Data / Factory Reset" in Clockworkmod before installing a new ROM to prevent issues.
Ok Sir I got You Thanx For Ur Help

If you are on CM7, you will need to flash an additional GApps Package (Google Apps), which will give you Android Market. You can download it here:
http://goo-inside.me/gapps/
Look for
gapps-gb-20110613.zip or
gapps-gb-20110307.zip
Flashing procedure remains the same. Place file on your SDCard, Reboot into Clockworkmod Recovery, Select Install Zip from SDCard and choose the above zip.
Big ThnXxx to XDA Dev's and 3xeno And everyone who helped me...

Sense apps won't work on aosp roms as already stated.
But there is a way to make gallery pinch to zoom ( and slide for next picture ) working on cm7. Refer this link

Its the only way. Either leave as is or flash / adb push replacement.
Hmm I had same issue when I flashed Redux2 rom and tried to restore apps and data with MyBackupPro.
I did factory reset after that and started installing application one by one. That solved my problem.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
simple solution: only flash the damn zip above in recovery
Baby steps. One thing at a time.
By the way all this app does is control access to root for applications. It does this well enough anyway. No real need to update it. Surely any update is "just for the sake of it"?!
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
FIXED
All sorted now....
Rolled back the rom to the back up I took previously , un installed the updates..fab
Market place wanted to update it again on the weekend , so like a muppet I said yes... the same error happened
This time I just un installed the update.. all fine...
My wee pirate is working fab once more ...

[QUESTION] I flash CM7 through CWM, but stock ROM remains?

I've got superuser installed, and busybox installed also from the Market. I use CWM recovery and I flashed CM7.2, it says installation complete. I flash the patch for CM7.2, complete also! I reboot, but my ROM is still the same as before. I don't know why?
sorry for this but please post in the correct place here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=1675474
also there is no CWM7.2 for SGY
Maybe you have forgotten to do wipe data and cache?
Anyway, yeah. Wrong area of posting.
Dear use FAQ

Having two known issues and they are contradicting

Hi guys, please direct me to the correct place if this is not it. I am currently running revolt and I want to flash a new ROM. I had a status 7 error, which I have had before and I fixed that by updating CWM. But here is where I get hung up. I get an error that I thought was related to ROM manager not having the correct permissions. I went to update my supersu and give it the correct permissions, but I decided I wanted to change to Superuser and uninstalled supersu. I have now having an error where I can not download anything from he play store because my memory is full. When I check my memory it does not add up. I have 12gb of space and a I am using roughly 4 gb of that. If anyone knows of a way that I can fix the issue so that I can update my CWM and flash a new ROM it will be greatly appreciated!
Did you have the same error before changing your root managing app? You went from superuser to supersu

That is really confusing. When it says wrong permissions, it won't mean the root managing app has the wrong permissions, it means that the system has wrong permissions somewhere. This cannot be fixed through Supersu or Superuser. If you can still go into recovery, go into advanced, and then 'fix permissions' and that should fix issues if that is what it pertains to.
Because Android it is based off a Linux kernel, it is very picky with the permissions you give it. Too little and it doesn't work. Too much, and it doesn't work.
Let me know how you go.
I don't think I explained this very well in my first post. My issue lies when I try to flash the new version of cwm. I get this screen.
I went into recovery and advanced and I don't have an option that is fix permissions?
So you do have a current working recovery? Okay then advanced>Fix Permissions, at the bottom. If it isn't there, it might be the stock recovery included by Samsung. What is wrong with your current recovery? I can't seem to figure it out sorry.

I am running CMW 6.0.3.7. When I go to advanced all that I see is Reboot recovery, Reboot to bootloader, Power Off, Wipe Dalvik Cache, Report Error, Key Test, Show Log, *******Go back*******.
My recovery works, its just not up to date so when I go to flash a new ROM I get a status 7 error. I have had this issue before and I fixed it by updating my recovery. BUT this time when I go to flash an updated version of CWM I get the screen that I posted above.
the status seven error is usually to do with the updater-script. So make sure the ROM you want to flash is for your device, if it isn't (which may be why you have run into issues) don't flash it. But if you are sure it is, go into the ROM, META-INF>Android>Google>Updater-script (the android and google may be the other way round, it won't take you long to find it) And then open the updater script in a text editing program and remove the first few lines of stuff. It will have the words "assert" "getprop" and looks different to the rest, so just delete that section, and rezip if you have to, and try reflashing. But if that doesn't work and the issues are becoming intrusive, a full reset might be in order.
