Sprint upgrade policies - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Figure you guys could let me know if this will work. I want to get the HTC one but my upgrade isn't until august. I want to buy it using the upgrade on a different number on my family plan. Activate it on that line. Then deactivate it and activate it on my line. Is this possible? If it is, can I buy the phone anywhere? for example target Amazon or wherever or do I need to order it through sprint?

Yes you can. You can also buy out the remaining months ( pay a prorated amount of etf) and upgrade your line
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

All you have to do is call Sprint up and have them switch the phone to the number you want when you get the new phone on the line that up for upgrade.

Sprint wants 100 bucks to buy out my remaining 2 months. Seriously now 100 bucks for 2 months. By my calculation its 14 and some change if you go by 350 etf divided by 24 months. Then on top of that I was told I have to give them my E4GT. Sprint has lost their damn minds............
Told them I am going to check out verizon. Sorry but 100 bucks + my E4GT + 250 S4 is not a good deal. Now add to this Sprint is charging 50 more bucks for the S4 than what everyone else is charging. For 250 bucks at verizon I also get the car adapter and case. With sprint you get nothing.
What the hell is going on with sprint seriously

$100 is the minimum it doesn't get any lower. Once you hit 6 months remaining the proration stops. And paying your prorated ETF you DO NOT have to turn in your phone. The rep you talked to was an idiot and didn't know what they were doing. The only time they can request you return the device is when they let you out ETF free. The ETF is to cover the subsidy on the device.

Exactly what I just said. Only I see nothing about having to return your device on their page, probably because the only time they can legally ask you to return them is when they waive the ETF entirely.

Agreed. What they likely meant (but did NOT communicate well) is that you CAN bring in the phone for them to buy back. Currently I think the E4GT gets about $75 bucks. Perhaps that can be applied at the same time? Seems that would make sense, since at the end of the the contract you would technically fully own it, thus not needing to pay the $100 fee, and then you'd get the full $75 for the phone. In this case, you have the $100 ETF penalty, but perhaps you can still get $75 for the phone to offset that (making it only ~$25 that you owe?)

I'm not sure it even gets $75 sprints only giving out $106 for the SIII. BestBuy is offering $262 for the SIII so if I was gonna do a buyback I'd go with bestbuy and use the money towards the new device. Plus if you mention the $50 gift card for upgrading with them thats an additional $50 towards the new device so you'd end up paying between $100 and $150 for ths SIV depending on the buy back price for the SII maybe less if the buy back is over $100.

Sprint sucks. Their service sucks plus coverage sucks. I moved to a place and I get roaming. And manyplace i drive i get bad signal some places decent and many places roaming. Anyway's I had to break the contract. I have to fork out close to 400 bucks. I was with them for less then a year. Oh well... Have to pay it. So basically I should pay and probably get it flash to cricket. Or just burn it. I paid close to 200 dollars when I went to get this phone.

FYI, Cricket is a Sprint MVNO (ie - they use Sprint's network). Flashing to them isn't gonna solve anything coverage-wise. Same for Virgin, Ting and Boost.

I do remember that I switch from verizon to cricket and speed and reliability was there and coverage but that was on a droid x also cricket I was getting over 1mb connection. S2 epic touch on sprint oh boy. So what should I do? I guess sell it. I love my s2 with the new ota jelly bean my phone flies. But I did saw on wiki that cricket have their own network but places where there no cricket network it would use sprint and other network. I'm pissed off. I wish I made more research. Now I know what to get. Here there is dozen of att tower and many tmobile tower. I think I'll go with tmobile. This is frustrating because it's now a paperweight phone.

The issue I had is now corrected with Sprint. Now while sprints coverage and data rates can be lacking, sprint however did work with me and today I am all hooked up, bought out the remaining 2 months and got the S4 for $219.
I will give Sprint kodos and a BZ for still wanting to work with me after my bad atitude yesterday.
Yes me having to give them my old S2 was a mistake and to make a long story short it was just bad communications on both parts. Again its all good now and i will have my new S4 on Monday WoooooHooooooo

I is thinking. Buying S4 no contract. U are stuck with contract for how long? Anyways I think phone is 600+ I would get sim card version of tmobile and use
straight talk using t mobile tower for 45 bucks? I don't tether i have a super fast isp at home I can tether to my note tablet but wont use much data. But I'm
still thinking but sprint no way I'll would stay with them they only have one tower in Fresno ca. In Fresno there is dozen of att tower and many tmobile tower. Both on 4g but not Sprint. So I'll get 4g straight talk using tmobile. By passing proxy they wont know I'm tethering . But if I can afford I'll be on tmobile unlimited 70 bucks 4g unlimited. I guess no throttle. Straight talk do throttle infact kick people off if using up to much data. How is you're S4? There is a 8 core wow. Too but more expensive and it's not what sprint or any carrier offer in USA.

I like my S2 but I cant flash to other carrier they all using Sprint here Fresno. Boost, cricket, virgin. It's not even LTE? I love my phone. Very smooth with Jelly Bean. Time for new phone.

I will get my new shinny off the show room floor S4 next week. Cant wait to play
T-Mobil is a no go, no service here where I live ( according to their website )
Verizion is just to damn expensive, 40 dollars per month access fee on top of the plan fee LOL version is high alright
Sprint has 3 towers here were I live ( home town ) so Im good with service but data is sucking. I use my home internet for my data needs so I am set in that regard. What I have found is that Sprint voice and txt is good but data can be improved upon.
If I used data like a hog OTA then verizon would be a better choice but more expensive. Other wise Sprint is the better choice for me.
I will still keep my S2 E4GT and use it as a backup just incase or as a music player or to do youtube or something ( wifi ). Damn I cant wait until I get my grubby hands on the S4

Yea dude. I had not issue where there is coverage. Sprint is probably the best phone when there is bit low bars. But Data speed sucks. And they are
very slow on putting up 4g tower. In fact it would cost them putting tower. Many companies would already have 3g tower all they do is upgrade their network but sprint it would cost soo much because they have to put up tower and plus new network so. Sprint when there is coverage it works. They need more tower here and move on with 4g here. God don't you love you're S2? It's a epic touch 4g right?

I have a bone to pick with these statements. People always say that using a sprint MVNO would be no different but have you guys ever done a 3G test with a Sprint phone vs a Boost phone? Well I did and let me tell you the cheap boost phone demolished my E4GT! It was .20mbps on my Sprint phone vs 1.20 on the boost phone.

I've ready WAY too many bad reviews of straight talk to cancel my AT&T plan and use their network. All the reviews state that you get what you pay for, half the price, half the service. If anything goes wrong with their service they provide zero help. I'm not sure how they can get away with tagging onto other service providers networks. I'll just use my company's 22% discount and keep my grandfathered unlimited plan.

Today is day three and I can honestly say that I love it it's just like having my old plan we do not have LTE here anyways but now I have unlimited minutes unlimited text and 4g Internet which is plenty for me even if it is only 2.5 or so gigs. Everywhere I used my phone besides my car has Wi-Fi access so I'm constantly connected to Wi-Fi saving about $100 a month on my plan is absolutely amazing to me and I will use that money for other things. The only downfall is I lose my warranty from my cell phone and I also do not get upgrades but that's okay. Saving over $1200 a year is good enough for me. Unlimited text messaging and 3 GB Internet cost me more than this whole plan itself

My wife was on it for a month with the iPhone 4. She claims she had a lot of problems with SMS, MMS (had to hack it to work), calling and data. Things that never happened to her before. To me is sounded like issues I always had with At&t, I recently switched to a company phone I personally can't comment on the service. I had another friend that switched his wife over also and for the most part she hasn't had many issues but there are some. I will be switching her over to T-Mobile prepaid next week (with the Galaxy Nexus :victory.
She had issues with the MMS because it was a known issue between iPhones and MVNOs. There are guides out there, but yeah, iPhones need to be jailbroken to work properly.
As for the service, ST is excellent, if you know what you're doing. You're paying $45/month, but you're on your own. Don't expect tech support for network issues (which AT&T's idiots can't give anyways), but calls, coverage, speeds are all the same as AT&T's HSPA network.
TBay, as far as how they "get away with" providing their service, are you unaware of how MVNOs actually work?

However.
From the start I had issues activating my SMS and data (it was on older Captivate phone). It took me and ST three weeks to figure it out. So if u r patient - go with ST. I got their 1 year prepaid (slightly cheaper than monthly).
T-mo offers 100min/UnlimSMS/UnlimNet for $30/mo prepaid. Good for teens.

well this is my experience with straight talk
i been using it for a year i first start with the original nokie e71 it was good but i wanted something more like android...so i did buy a lg thrive on gophone store...put my sim on it and everything was working plus i was using android on at&t network for only $45+tax before i was paying between $100 and $120 for a 3G phone it was good excellent customer service but too much for my pocket...
ok then i decided to try a better phone samsung infuse i sold the lg and i got the infuse even better i was getting speeds 4mb average on 4G now i had use too many phones..galaxy s2 ,galaxy 2skyrocket,iphone4 and now my galaxy sIII which gave me speeds maximun at 11MB at my town no problems with straight talk the only thing that frustrate is monitoring data you should not use more that 2g at month or 100mb at day..but come on for $45 1/2 of the price i did pay for the same service...

Are you using the apn settings at the first page of this thread? I am and my data speeds are dismal. Half the time the google play store will not even open.
Thanks
If you know someone who is on ST or Net10 or Tracfone or Simple Mobile and they get fast speeds in your home or work and you don't it's because they have a throttle on you. Two things to know if you buy their phone you'll be lucky to get faster than 300kbs prove me wrong I want you to because everyone I know who got their phones can't go over the limit because the throttle right out of the box. Now if you get the sim on your own phone you get what ever speed is available based on phone radio capability and the carrier under the brand. All of those except Simple Mobile are ATT and Simple Mobile is T-Mobile which with an AT&T phone will require you to unlock the phone. All calls ride on any tower available with these mvno's so coast to coast calling (Verizon) level call capability is included via roaming which is unlimited. If you bring your own phone and you start out with fast data and all of a sudden you drop down to 300k or less then you have been throttled. The calls to attempt them to undo that are a waste of time they will not admit you are even being throttled so to fix this you buy a new sim card and keep an eye on your usage then you will be able to get away with a month of 6Gbs of usage or more as some report I speak from experience as this is how I solved the problem. Some of you may say why not just keep your Sim and wait for it to reset because with all of these providers they don't forgive or forget and keep you capped for life as long as you keep that locked sim.
Hope this helps clear the air on how these kind of providers work so you are aware up front. I got capped because I used 12Gb in one day at super fast speeds of 18Mbs which is super fast for these providers compared to Virgin etc. However second time around new Sim I used over 31G the next month no throttle and still fast to this day.
Keep this in mind when you want to go with any of these providers.
Thanks,
JK

Now that I think about it, since its no contract; sims are cheap just keep switching sims until they act right with you. Still cheaper than $120 a month on a contract with limits and charges for overages! No taxes either when you pay online.
Sprint and T-Mobile is a crap shoot for service in 50% of the country that is why those two companies have not joined in on the slaughter of our wallets like Verizon and AT&T but just wait and see they will be forced off that horse once Amazon, Netflix, Hulu and Google are done frying them up for dinner with the DOJ anti-trust suits coming their way.
Because if the utilities don't return to their flat rate model it will be impossible for them to survive as their is a massive migration to push corporations to the cloud and no one in any company is going to recommend moving to a cloud if the prices suddenly quad-drippled; if they want to keep their job that is.
They are taking away consumer choice and acting anti competitive favoring their own services for greed instead of competing for your business as that is the old American way.
What we are seeing now resembles the NAZI way of doing business squeeze you until you bleed.
But hey greed is the new American way.
Cheers!

Just switched over to AT&T, need some help dealing with Sprint and an ETF.

My sprint phones been roaming for months. I expected Sprint to boot me but they have not. I was hoping they would, the data simply doesn't work right for me. I've even tried leaving torrents running on Verizon 3G Roaming and still nothing.
I would love to stay with Sprint but we have only WiMax here in a small area which I'm outside of unless I go downtown and the 3G is a joke. A high speed test for me is 30kbps on a good day. Using Verizon's PRL, I got up to 800 which was better then nothing.
Sprint won't boot me because I'm a 12 year customer and my bills always paid on time. I have my account setup for an auto payment via my debt card and recently I noticed I was billed like $200+ a month in overage because I went over my 450minute plan, roaming. I had no idea they billed you minutes if you were roaming even when its cell to cell.
I called them up, complained about not knowing that and they credited me back ALL the overages for like 3~4 months and they got me on a unlimited everything plan. I even told them my phone roamed 24/7 and maybe I should just buy out my contact and find a new provider. The manager I spoke to said basically if I don't care about the roaming, they don't care and they were not going to let roaming be an issue for them to terminate my account and that sooner or later the service WOULD get better. Then he offered me another $200 dollar credit to stick with Sprint and wait it out.
I definitely can't complain about the customer service!
However, that does me no good when the data doesn't work. Webpages time out, steaming audio does NOT work off WiFi. What is the point of unlimited if it doesn't work?
I just picked up a ATT Galaxy S3 and the 3g data is insanely fast. The LTE is amazing too.
I was just going to keep both phones active and we what happens with Sprint this next year but carrying two phones sucks and I really only need my Sprint number.
I ported my Sprint number over to ATT today.
I know this causes my account to close. What can I do to avoid paying a full ETF fee? Do they pro-rate? I only have 9 or so months left on my contact. I will be happy to go back to Sprint if they work out there data issues at a later date when my ATT contract is up if they don't rape me over this ETF. Again I was a customer for 12 years and like 4~5 years ago everything was good, even with the data. All these smart phones came and things went down hill. I stuck around and renewed contracts because they kept promising it would get better. 2 and a half contracts later, it has NOT gotten better.
Has anyone had luck just explaining that to them? I'm hoping if I call them back up and say look, my phone was roaming 24/7, neither Sprints data or Verizon's roaming data was acceptable and I've been a loyal customer who is willing to come back if and when you guys fix the now network, if you dont screw me on my whole ETF.
For all the hassles I've had, I think they should waive it but I'm sure they won't
I just want feedback on what to expect and what I should do next. If they want to loose me forever over $250.00 dollars, whatever but I really liked Sprint until they got all these damn smartphones and their network couldn't handle it.
I'm curious to just ask, what happens if you don't pay the ETF?

Oh there are number of things. Companies will attempt to get money first. So close accounts in good faith. Pay off, return equipment for cable companies etc.

Double post, sorry!
Yeah if I can't get them to work with me on the ETF, they are going to loose a customer for life. I'll pay the ETF fee and let them know I won't be back even after they fix there network speed issues. They might see it as they have already lost me since I've ported and I have an AT&T line of service now and they might think well, screw him, lets get that ETF money but I'm hoping when I call retention tonight after work when I have more time I can convince them to drop the ETF fee. They might not care though.
Given all the issues I've had with data, I think it would be fare for them to let me out of my ETF and I would definitely consider a return in two years if their network gets better.
My bills paid current, always on time, actually I'm negative -$40.00 right now. I've been a good customer. I rarely called to complain in 12 years. I never begged for credits, I've never threatened to leave. Hell, I wouldn't have left if the data worked. I could deal with not having 4G WiMax or LTE but the 3G was SO bad I was paying for something I couldn't use.
Did I mention how insanely fast AT&T's 3G and HSPA+ is? Oh and check this out so I had my first run in with AT&T's legacy 2G service today. 2G Edge they call it. The speeds tests were like 100 kbps BUT pages actually still loaded and things were browsable. I was shocked. Things just normally time out on Sprint's 3G and it's suppose to be faster then 2G Edge.
Anyway right now at this point, Sprint with Unlimited Data an AT&T with Tiered Data, I'd rather have AT&T now that I've seen how well it works. One neat thing is I keep getting these pop-ups all over the place that say "Welcome to AT&T Wifi Hotspot", then it jumps on some AT&T wireless Wifi and it doesn't take data. Seems they have them all over my city and where I work.
Congrats
If you want out of your contract pay your ETF, period. At 9 months it will be prorated but people like you trying to get out of contacts free and abusing roaming are why rates go up and perks get removed. Because of crap like this we're gonna end up losing unlimited data. You chose to enter into the contract, honor it. If you want out pay the ETF like everyone else or be patient and wait out the NV upgrades and drop AT&T during the buyers remorse period.

1. Yes the ETF is pro-rated, so should not be too much with 9 months left.
2. You got a phone for like $100-$200 on that contract right? Its worth $600 new. That's why ETFs exist.
3. Since you won't need that sprint phone anymore, sell it to cover the ETF. Boom, you are out of your contract and didn't lose much/anything.

Good advice here. Even using Sprint buyback program you get like $85 for E4GT.
ATT has its own service issues, glad its working for you though. Cell service quality can be extremely regional and I have switched carriers several times in the last 10 years after a move.
Yeah that's what I was thinking. Even if you sell the phone for dirt cheap. As long as it covers ETF you should be good.

Who is going to leave Sprint after contract is up?

I here a lot of people talking about just how terrible Sprint service is (myself included). I wanted to know how many of you are thinking of leaving Sprint to go to Verizon, AT&T, etc. I definitely know that I will be switching to Verizon after my 2 year contract is up. I love the SGS3 but hate the service. So...who's with me? lol
living just north of Chicago, i have great signal pretty much everywhere and LTE, so I'm lucky in that aspect. plus i use a ton of 4G data
So I am not planning on leaving, but i know if i had crappy service I'd be looking elsewhere.

Probably switching my 5 lines to Straight Talk. 2 unlimited and 3 on the lower level. It will save me a nice chunk of change, and upgrade my service. Never had Wimax, and will never have LTE. I just beg Sprint every month for the usable 3G that I had 20 months ago. We aren't on a "list" to get anything. They are forcing my hand

I live in WNY, and actually get pretty decent Sprint service day to day. It prob helps that I have an Airave at home, and am on Wifi both at the office and home. Just renewed for 2 yrs with the Sam's Club $0.96 GS3 deals, renewed both lines on account. Also get 23% discount, and unlimited data...so it's gonna be very hard to leave Sprint any time soon...my entire company is on VZW, and our company gets 17% discount, still not worth giving up unlimited data for!
Never. The service is serviceable but the unlimited data for the price is unbeatable.

Does the AirRave cause you to get dupe SMS' or anything? Mine was acting all nutzo.
I don't plan on leaving. I have Spotty 4G around Indianapolis but the price blows away the only other carrier (Verizon) that I would consider. But I am around wireless the majority of the time and haven't been in a situation where I could not get by with 4G.
I just got my S3 last week from Radio shack for 99 dollars that came with 50 dollar Google Play Credit. That came in handy for stocking up on a few widgets I needed to customize it.
I would be gone if I didn't pay $41 a month for unlimited everything with insurance included. At&t, Verizon, and MetroPCS all have LTE in Sacramento where I live and T-Mobile has HSPA+ 42. Sprint doesn't even know when they are going to start to roll out LTE here. In the meantime my 3G is absolutely pathetic. It is very frustrating to say the least. I'm highly considering Straight Talk or T-Mobile with a unlocked Nexus 4 when my contract is up in June.

Honestly, after 2 years you probably won't feel so strongly about leaving anymore, assuming data is still unlimited.
Sprint now has 100% of clearwire....That makes them the Company with the Biggest Spectrum and SoftBank putting Billions into being the number one, He's that type of Guy, no second in the Game for him, so that means lower cost to be coming, unlimited to stay and All others to Envy us Sprint Users.....Good things come to those who WAIT....lol....
I'm in Hudson County, NJ and prior to Hurricane Sandy, the signal was sketchy at best. After the storm, I have yet to reach two bars of signal at my home. I called Sprint and they said the towers in my area were afffected by storm and they were aware of the situation and trying to get things back to normal. I have yet to see any improvements. Wimax was available here but LTE looks like mid 2013 at best. Since I renewed my contract to get the SIII, I'll be on the hook until 2014 but this will be my last run with Sprint if I dont see significant improvements on their network around here.

How do you only pay $41??? If that was all I had to pay I wouldnt complain either lol. But I live in Tallahassee, FL and I am lucky to get 300kb/s download speeds, so needless to say, I only use wifi. Also I would only have to pay $15 more to switch to Verizon so thats a no brainer to me.

Unlimited Data?? Hahaha when you only get 300kb/s down, unlimited data is useless. I would rather pay $15 more on Verizon and get LTE speeds on have 4gb of data that I will never exceed. I guess it would be a good deal if I lived in an area that had reasonable data speeds tho.

But unlimited data means nothing unless you can use it. If you are on wifi all the time then unlimited data is worthless to you too. With Verizons "limited" data plan you can get 4gb of data and trust me you will never use that much. But like I told the other guy, if you get reasonable data speeds where you live then Sprints plan IS unbeatable. I only get on average 300kb/s down lol
Atlanta, GA
Here in the Atlanta, GA area, I get pretty good service since they turned on all the LTE towers. One place I don't get good reception is in my house. I have considered trying to get a free airrave to solve that. I will be sticking with Sprint, unless things suddenly go to pot.

Honestly, since the network vision started my service became alit better. In every way. I had dead spot in my area in one block I would perfect signal the next completely dead, and now it have a 50% increased in sign in all my dead spot. An network vision has been fully deployed. Before making rush decision I would say wait and see what sprint offers with their network upgrades specially now that they 100% clear. And will have 800mghz spectrum too. I say it going to go to number two if they actually able to keep their word with network vision

Forced to leave sprint
I got forced to leave sprint. I had 4 lines on a shared plan, and they booted my number because of excessive roaming. Now I'm stuck with a pretty new GS3 with no use for it. I ported my number to a dumbphone on straightalk toi save the number. Therefore if anyone wants I have a GS3 (16gig) with a cracked screen that I found after I got my new one through insurance, a GS3 (16gig) that Id be willing to trade both for a decent android GSM phone.
PM me if anyone wants it

might switch to tmobile

http://phandroid.com/2013/07/10/t-mobile-jump-details/
Tmobile new jump program looks pretty sweet. A new phone every 6 months awesome. I wonder if they'll be getting the note 3.
I just left Tmo for crappy data service, I only had 2G. So if you're serious about making the switch do a little research about the data services they offer in your area(s). I will say the have awesome customer service, but like all carriers going to the store for support in useless.

what that artilce doesnt mention is that you forfeit whatever youve payed on the old phone including the down payment.
to get the note 2 on tmo you have to put down 100 dollars. then make a 20 dollar a moth payment every month on the financing of the phone. after 6 months, youve payed a total of 220 dollars. plus the extra 10 dollars monthly for the jump program. so now your at 280 over the course of 6 months.
to get as new phone, you have to trade in the old (6 month old) handset, plus pay the new down payment of 100 dollars and the cycle starts over. over a year your paying a total of 560 dollars. thats on top of your monthly service price.
sounds like a rip of to me. what are they going to do next? offer leases on phones?
---------- Post added at 03:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 PM ----------
edit, i was wrong, the note 2 is 170 dollars for the down payment, add an extra 140 to whatever i said earlier.

This plan only works if you upgrade and can afford to shovel the money every 6 months as its less money to this rather than buy the phone outright every six months. And especially how they do no contracts anymore.
If your life most people and can wait its not worth it.

What has not yet been mentioned is that the $10 extra a month includes insurance coverage. This is only about $2 more than if you paid for it directly so this is a worthwhile plan if you must have a new phone every 6 months.
As has been mentioned earlier, switching carriers means that you must check how the coverage is in your home, work, and play area. Otherwise it does not matter how good a deal you get.
Doc
I just checked and for me tmobile is a better deal overall. Biggest thing is having to pay full price for the phone. But it's worth it. If I switched my bill would be about $45 less and I would get an average of 6-12 mbps on hspa+ with great coverage here in my area. Plus my friend just picked up a couple of lte towers in the area that aren't officially announced. Right now on 3g my Sprint data on average never gets above .16 mbps. It's sad. Even on lte tmobile hspa+ is just as fast or faster. Plus I actually get a signal inside a building. I'm done with testing. As soon as I can leave Sprint I will.

I switched from Sprint to T Mobile.
Very happy.
Cheaper and 100x faster data
Used to get 1.5mb dl speed on Sprint, now I get normally 28mb dl speed normally.
If you're in a good T Mobile area, I fully recommend.

Man im really stuck between a rock and a hard spot. I've been with sprint for like 13yrs but the service has really gotten crappy over the years. 3g is barely usable if at all but 4g has been popping up in small sections around town. Should I stay and wait for the soon to be upgraded network or bail for the already proven and contract free Tmobile network?? Decisions decisions....

Im in the same boat. Tmo would be cheaper for what looks like the same coverage, faster throughput and would allow for world connectivity.

Have an unlimited 1500 minute fam plan right now with 3 phones. ~$180 in the end after taxes and 1 protection plan, 19% corp. discount.
For TMo it would be around $145 for the 3 phones, unlimited 4g data/txt/talk and 1 protection plan, 15% corp discount.
I like the idea of having a GSM/world phone. I will be traveling OCONUS next month and would like to be able to pop in a prepaid SIM into my GN2. I was going to do the GSM mod, but it's more work than I want right now. LTE has started rolling out where I live (boston area). Even though its quick, 20+ Mbps, its spotty and Sprint coverage in the area is slim. I've been less than impresses with sprints service, data, and customer service the 3 years I've been with them. I just need to find a way to get my iPhone 5 on my plan off without paying ETF.

Well you might want to check online as they offer different promotions. I was quoted for 226 after taxes, for 3 lines all have insurance all would have S4's and talk text data all Unlimited.
to compare apples to apples, Sprint would be 310 that for unlimited everything including minutes for landlines as well.
Currently we pay 222.30 for 1500 shared, unlimited talk mobile to mobile, unlimited data, all insurance on all 3 lines. With 15% discount.

A couple things...
I no longer need to be tethered to wifi. These speeds are better and faster than my Internet. Charter says they're the fastest Internet in the nation, but not in my house
My bill is $30 cheaper. 4 lines. 2 S4's with unlimited data, and jump! insurance/upgrade program. 1 Nexus 4 with 2GB data and fully insured. (dad's fone) And one basic ($30 at Walmart) flip fone for mom with unlimited calls, txt, and anything else that line comes with.
Customer service is great. They also threw in a free case for my wife's S4 and dad's N4. That's because when I went online to see what kind of service and deals they offered, the N4 was suppose to come with a wireless charger. But when I went to the store they did not have any.
Bottom line I'm, ecstatic about the change and the difference in value. I would have made the switch if I had to pay the same or slightly more. Good luck to all regardless of your decisions.
Thanks for reading!

If you leave Sprint, who will you go to and why?

Hey everyone! When. My contract is up with sprint I will most likely be leaving them for another carrier. I am leaning towards T Mobile because of their upgrade plans and good "4g" speeds.
What carrier would you move to and why? I live near Orlando Florida if that makes a difference. Thanks!
T-Mo cuz I am never going to ATT again and screw Verizon in their money hungry pig faces... I'll probably stay with Sprint tho, but it's between those two only for me.

I have been testing t mobile for work, and we already have sprint. What a difference. I can't wait for my contact to end. My phone calls don't drop longer, the speeds are 4 times as fast... T mobile is a good option IMO.

My contract is getting terminated on the 3rd of September. I am going over to AT&T. I love their customer service, and where I live they have great service. My biggest concern is where I work. That could be anywhere from Alaska up to New York at any ship building yard and sometimes a few miles off shore, any other carriers other than Verizon have no signal in those areas. Verizon is ok, but AT&T has a good signal inside the ships and a few miles offshore. T-Mobile and sprint... Nothing even around the ships.

I'm on boost right now, but definitely looking to T-mobile for the future..Better speeds...I'm just waiting to save the money for the S4...Doesn't matter where I'm at..I will always have a Samsung device..:good:
Whichever is cheapest without a contract.
<3ing T-mobile
I bought an HTC One outright on Swappa for $460 and put it on the T-mobile prepaid $30/month plan Sim-kit I got at wal-mart. (Did I get raped for $20 you ask? NO because this includes the first month of use with it, so technically you can ignore the entire "add funds" step on the setup page. Comes with 5GB unthrottled data but only 100 mins. I use Groove IP + Google Voice anyway so this is a sweet deal for me. Gonna stick it to sprint who wouldn't let me out of contract due to material changes in July, since to them they are not "material" unless they make my bill go up. Which is utter bullcrap. Did you know? Sprint is NOT a member of the BBB. I find that funny.....I am currently roaming data trying to get my line cancled, but will probably eat the ETF(which with less then 9 months left, shouldn't be so horrible, and port my # to google voice for $20(so I never have to worry about giving my t-moble # out anyway)
I also feel that we do not get any roaming data on this plan.....but I'm near wifi enough daily to not really care, and even not roaming, the 2G speeds are still waay faster then any ****ty Sprint speeds. I've gotten 4GHSPA+ and 4GLTE in nearby towns and boy it was nice and fast! Still no Sprint 4GLTE what so ever, nor any 4GWiMax remotly near me (ironically they chose to give New Bedford MA LTE before Boston even? Seriously sprint?( Thus my GS2 is a very very sad phone to use
I also like how the ONE has b/g/n wifi so now I can actually get 100% signal in my bedroom whereas my poor GS2's G only had 1-1/2 a bar with me hanging it over my head to use -.-
Left Sprint for T-Mobile just this week. Been great so far and signal in my house is better than it has ever been with Sprint.
Only issue is that the Nexus 4 I got has a dead pixel Going to the store to get the phone replaced tomorrow.
I left them for PagePlus. While PagePlus does not have 4G yet, it's a BYOD (If you know the right people) and their coverage and 3G speeds are just like Verizons (they are true Verizon MVNO). Only $55 a month for unlimited talk/text with 2GB of data, and normally with promo codes you can get it down to $52.50. I plan on sticking with them until I can afford real Verizon (which currently for 1 line and 2GB of data would cost me $90 a month after company discounts :crying
I was with Sprint and actually never had a problem with their service. I was on the Unlimited Everything plan on the Samsung Epic 4G Touch and it came out to about $132.00/month with the phone insurance. The service for me was sensational as I am in West-Central Florida although I lived in 3G coverage and 4G was not available unless I went towards Tampa/West Coast. I never had any complaints or problems.
Eventually though I asked myself why I was paying that much a month for service when I could just hop over to MetroPCS and pay $40.00 for unlimited. I had a couple MetroPCS phones lying around for donor phones and I have not looked back since. The 3G coverage is a little spotty in some areas if you travel away from the coast but all in all; it was a way cheaper option.
When T-Mobile completely takes over MetroPCS and forces people onto GSM devices (Epic 4G Touch is CDMA), if that happens; I will gladly switch over to the S4 or S5 if it is out by then. Until then my Epic 4G Touch does everything I want and don't see too many reasons to upgrade yet.
Ting
Ting. Because I couldn't find anything cheaper. Also I like how their plans are structured.
I'm thinking of going to tmobile I heard it's pretty good
I'd love to go to Verizon since it's a power house here in DC.. but I was with them a while back and their customer service was terrible and I don't do well with limited data

i went to tmobile as soon as the s4 was released. Never looked back. i love the ritual i go through everytime i go into a sprint store to pay my moms bill.
clerk: nice s4 you got there, like it?
me: yes, especially since i switched to t-mobile
clerk:......why you do that
me: your data speeds suck, even in network vision areas.
clerk: oh really proceeds to show me data speeds in network vision area, which is usually between 7&12 Mbps
me: proceeds to show my speed tests of 18-25 Mbps speeds
clerk:wow you got me there, i bet you pay more though
me:nope, i only pay $30 proceeds to pay my moms bill of $90
me: fyi, as soon as my moms contract is up, shes going to tmobile also
clerk:.........
I'm going to Tmo....I have crappy data and signal drops regularly. I swear if it weren't for the development I would have convinced my wife and we would have switched already... Upgrade smupgrade, I'm leaving asap. The devs are awesome though... Thanks guys!

I went with Ting because of their Bring Your Own Device program. It has worked really well for the past 6 months. The only part that annoyed me was the phone number porting process. After that, it has been the same service as Sprint, but it only costs $33 a month for my usage.
Here's a $25 credit link, if anyone is interested in switching to Ting.
