[Q] Seems N5110 has no proximity sensor? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Trying different apps and sensor tests it appears that mine has no proximity sensor. Do you confirm on your devices?

Same here, Proximity Sensor Finder finds nothing.
I'm a little disappointed about it but no big deal.

My only issue is that apps such as awesome on/off do not work. What to use for powering on/off the screen with case with no magnet.

The power button.
Just kidding. Seriously though, I've never even thought about using the proximity sensor for turning the screen off. My first reaction to this thread was "so what, I'm not using the device as a phone (holding it up to my ear) so what do we need a proximity sensor for?"
But using the proximity sensor to power off the screen when using a cover, is a pretty cool concept, I'll admit.
I wonder how strong a magnet is needed in order to make the phone sleep/wake. Maybe you can use magnetic tape on the flap of your cover to serve the purpose.

I didn't try but it smells like a battery drainer, as it won't let proximity sensor to sleep, and therefore will disable deep sleep :-\

Vodafone Australia with its **** reception drains my battery regardless.. this little app won't make a difference.. I hope..
Anyway.. I like switching around cases every now and then.. so I guess I won't be using it all the time

[REQUEST] Proximity sensor recalibrator

Hi, I have a wet application screen protector on my phone, and my proximity sensor does not work properly, is there an app that could possibly fix this issue?

if it were a dry application screen protector I would've done that already, but since it's wet I can't. -___-

This was much funnier when I missed the part about the OP using a screen protector.
For the OP, you either have to remove the skin, or risk using something like an exacto blade on your phone with the skin still on it. Odds are, the glass will be harder than the steel in the blade, so you PROBABLY won't gouge the hell out of it. However, even if the glass is harder, the anti-smudge coating isn't. It will reflect the light differently, so you WILL scratch it to some extent. Unless you're a brain surgeon and can literally slice through just the skin protector without touching the glass. In which case, you probably make a quarter mil plus per year and you can afford to buy another Nexus if you screw this one up. Bascially, pick one of the following: remove the skin, damage your phone, go to med school.

whats the hole on the right side of my note 3?

Ok guys....heres the question as stated above, there is a tiny hole on the bottom right hand corner of the phone, on the side, slightly to the right of the stylus?
basically, I broke my glass a few days ago....i got attacked by a very vicious ****ing dog....and my phone fell during that ordeal, and the glass cracked, ive since then replaced it....but you guessed it...i accidentally cut this sensor here on the Menu/Back key ribbon assembly...Ive noticed NOTHING absolutely NOTHING different in Operation, then again, im not sure what the sensor was for, i did see somewhere the phone is equipped with a Barometric sensor, maybe this is it? in that case i could care less, if i didnt have to take the glass off id replace it, but unless its important im not going to, but can anyone tell me what it is for sure? in the picture i posted its to the right of the back key.

Cool thank you much bud, well, luckily i have no use for it, just a pointless feature for me, but i would like it working someday again, but im not removing the glass again and putting more LOCA glue just to get that working, unfortunately the stupid menu/back button ribbon is under the glass.
but thank you for the info glad i was right

Screen off issue after replacing cracked screen

Hi Folks, looking for some help after I just about managed to replace a cracked screen & frame (I fell on top of my phone during a mountain bike descent into Glen Doll, Scotland as an aside!).
After painstakingly taking the cover, mid-frame, battery, motherboard etc out and putting them back together, I thought it was a minor miracle the phone worked again. The only issue I am having is that the screen switches off and stays off while making any calls, no matter whether I hold the phone to my ear or in front of my face.
Is this a proximity sensor issue? If so where exactly is it located and how can I check whether it's either damaged or not properly connected? Thanks in advance for any help
Sounds like it, Does you screen auto brightness work?
Its the little red sensor just under the top speaker on the right.
Nope, auto brightness isn't working either.
Do you know whether the sensor is soldered on or whether it can just be removed & replaced? The sensor seems to be in place but guessing it's not properly connected

I had the same problem as you and I think you also forgot to put the cover of proximity/light sensor.

Exactly the same problem on mine. Sadly threw away the part. Does anyone know the partnumber of this or where to buy it in Europe?

Screen issue?

I have a unlocked Note 10+ from best buy. Got it yesterday and when I wake up the phone I get a quick (pixel flash) to the right of the front facing camera. It flashes real fast and is a white color. Then it goes away. But when I first setup the phone it stayed on longer. Is this a sensor(?) Does anyone have a issue like this so far? Thanks for the help
Ok so I hit the power button (to sleep the phone and to turn it back on) 10 times. 6 out of the 10 times a small white pixel flashes fast then goes away.
Sensor.

Do you know why it only shows up randomly?

I'm not doubting the Proximity sensor. I am saying what the OP is experiencing is something else that isn't related to the Prox sensor
I also noticed the same thing. If everyone are noticing it, it probably is a feature. This also happens when you start any call.

This is the proximity sensor. The same concept was seen in the S10 series
