Here's a friendly guide for all the people with 1.33.0010 SPL INDIAN VERSION AIRTEL and who would like to switch over to the 1.33.2010 Engineering SPL with Amon_RA's ROM. This has been tested on my Indian HTC Magic, but I do think it will work for other Magics with the same SPL. Remember, this is for 32A only.I tried different options given in xda forum but this method is full proof and now I have a working hero rom on my HTC MAGIC AIRTEL ASIA.
1. Download the latest Android SDK from http://developer.android.com/. Create a folder called "AndroidSDK" on your C drive and extract the contents of the zip file to the folder such that the folders called "tools", "usb_driver" and all are within the "AndroidSDK" folder.
2. On Windows XP : Go to Control Panel->System, Choose the 'Advanced' tab and then click 'Environment Variables' To do this on Vista/Windows7: Simply go to Control Panel->System and choose 'Advanced System Settings' and then 'Environment Variables'
Now that you've got here locate Path under System Variables and click Edit, then add the following to the end of the string displayed:
;C:\AndroidSDK\tools\
Then click OK until you get out of the menus.
3. Enable Debugging mode on the phone by going to
Menu > Settings > Applications > Developement > USB Debugging
4. Go to http://dl.google.com/android/android_usb_windows.zip and download the ADB drivers for windows. Not needed in HTC Sync 2.04 version as drivers are embedded in it.
5. Connect your Android device via USB. When the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, you'll be asked if you'd like Windows Update to search for software, select No, not this time and click Next.
Select Install from a list or specified location and click Next.
Select Search for the best driver in these locations. Browse and select the unzipped folder. Click Finish.
6. Go to "Run" in Start and type in "cmd". This is the standard procedure for invoking the Command Prompt. Remember this. Type "cd\" hit enter and then enter "cd AndroidSDK", hit enter. Then cd\tools ,hit enter The command prompt should look like :
C:\AndroidSDK\tools>
Now type in "adb devices" and hit enter. You should see something like this :
C:\AndroidSDK>adb devices
List of devices attached
XXXXXXXXXXXX device
If you do, everything is great. Disconnect your device.
7. Now go to HTC's global site and download the latest version of HTC Sync(2.04 Version), unzip and install. When you connect your device now, HTC Sync should recognize your phone.
8. Now comes the Gold Card part. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...99&postcount=1 and follow the guide to create your Gold Card. The 2GB Sandisk one which comes in the box works just fine. If you don't have Android Market, don't fret. Forget about the Steps 3 & 4. Instead, connect your device with the card in it. Invoke command prompt and cd to "AndroidSDK" as told before. Type in "adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid". You will get the CID. Follow the rest of the steps from the guide to create a Gold Card.
9. Time for action. Now you gotta get Engineering SPL 1.33.2010(find it on xda forum)- MD5 : 865020FBDFBD9C08950076A701A8A003 Flash this Rom in Hboot mode.
# Copy the required file zip file and rename it sappimg.zip (Do not add zip only rename as sappimg as it is already a zip file.) and copy it to the Goldcard.
# Boot your phone while holding the VOLUME-DOWN key.
# Press the ACTION KEY (=trackball) to start the update.
# Wait until the update completes and press the ACTION KEY (=trackball) to reboot your phone.
10. Now time to create a Nandroid Backup. Download • RAv1.2.1H – (Find it on xda forums) MD5Sum: E08D0A38BCCADAE416F644EE9D370D8B Put it in the "AndroidSDK\tools" folder. Switch off your phone. Hold the Back button and Switch it on. This takes you to the Fastboot mode. Standard procedure. Remember this. Connect the phone to the PC. Invoke the command prompt, cd to "AndroidSDK\tools" and type :
fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.1H.img
The recovery image will boot and you'll see the recovery screen in green colour. Wait for 2 minutes. Select the Nandroid Backup option and follow the on-screen instructions to create a backup. Reboot device. And copy over the "nandroid" folder on you sd card to a safe place.
11. Time to flash the HERO ROM Go to myhero-1.12 (find it on XDA forum) I tried flashing other roms but the screen jams at start so this particular rom is working well on my HTC AIRTEL ASIA Rename the file to "update.zip" and copy over to the sd card. Switch off your phone. Hold the Back button and Switch it on. This takes you to the Fastboot mode. Connect the phone to the PC. Invoke the command prompt, cd to "AndroidSDK\tools" and type :
fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.1H.img
The recovery image will boot and you'll see the recovery screen. Wait for 2 minutes. Select the Wipe Data option, and follow instructions to Wipe your present ROM. If you don't do this, your phone might not boot after flashing the ROM. Select the Apply sdcard:update.zip option. Follow onscreen instructions to flash the ROM. Reboot. All done. Welcome to Android.....
All credits go to XDA FORUM , and everybody else for their respective contributions.....
PS. Please do chip in with a Thanks if you found this guide helpful and any corrections are welcome.....
PPS. After you flash the ROM, if HTC Sync isn't working, use Google Sync, since the ROM is a Google ION based one.
I. Before You Begin
1. We are assuming you have already setup the Android kitchen. If not, use our How To Setup The Kitchen procedure and then come back to this one when done.(first see the post creating an custom rom for android a)
2. We are also assuming you have already done our How To Root and How To Load a Custom ROM for your phone and have a custom recovery image.
2. This ONLY works for HTC Android devices at the moment, later versions might support others (check here for an update when it does).
3. Open the Kitchen in your Ubuntu Virtual Machine we created in the Kitchen Setup procedure by typing ./menu in the Terminal window in Ubuntu. Leave it open.
4. All of this is done INSIDE THE UBUNTU VIRTUAL MACHINE (that includes when I say “save to your computer” anywhere in here, means save to you Ubuntu Virtual Machine)!
II. Find a ROM to Dissect
There are two kinds of ROMs you can dissect to create your own custom ROM; Stock ROMs and Custom/Cooked ROMs. DsiXDA, creator of the ROM kitchen we are using, has put together a list of places to get stock ROMs for different devices and a quick how to load them into the kitchen:
From a Cooked ROM (Easiest Method):
1. Copy the update.zip (or equivalent ZIP file) to the original_update folder in the kitchen
2. Type the number for the option “Setup Working Folder from ROM” and hit enter in the Kitchen to create your working folder. (So if its number is 1, type 1 then hit enter).
From a Shipped ROM:
1. Find the shipped ROM for your device, usually from htc.com or from searching xda-developers (check the Wiki or sticky posts under your device’s sub-forum).
The links below may help:
HTC Hero
Google Nexus One (android.modaco.com/topic/300414-21oct-stock-roms-erd79- frg83-images-zip-online-kitchen-optional-root-insecure/)
" copy paste on browser than download it "
HTC Magic
HTC Tattoo
2a. If the shipped ROM is in a .ZIP format, then simply extract the system.img and boot.img.
2b. If the shipped ROM is in .EXE format, then do the following:
A. In Windows, run the shipped ROM’s .EXE file till it gets to the first dialog. Stop there but don’t close the window yet.
B. Go to Start->Run and type: %TEMP%
C. When the folder opens, search for Rom.zip. Then, open it with an unzip tool. If you get errors trying to open the ZIP file with WinZip or the default Windows unzip program, then use 7Zip (download from "w_w_w_.7-zip.org/ "_" from link) to extract it.
D. Extract only two files from Rom.zip: system.img and boot.img
3. Copy the two .IMG files to your kitchen’s img_files folder in your Ubuntu Virtual Machine.
4. In the Terminal window that you opened in Section I, type 1 and hit enter to create a working folder from the two .img files.
Now, that you have either the update.zip in the original_update folder of the kitchen OR the system.img and boot.img of a shipped ROM in the img_files folder of the kitchen, you are ready to play with the ROM to make it your own.
III. Tweaking the Imported ROM Using the Automated Options in the Kitchen
So this is a basic kitchen, but you can do things like, add Root support, add/remove apps from the ROM, enable saving apps to the sd card, enabling Wifi tethering, do some automatic optimizations, and a few other things automatically just by selecting the option and hitting enter. It even allows you to put in your own scripts for the ROM to run (but that’s for more advanced users who know how to create scripts of course).
1. After importing a ROM using section II, select the options you want to do to the ROM (by typing the number of the option you want into the terminal/kitchen window and hitting enter. They are all pretty self explanatory.)
2. Continue this until you have all the automated options you want in the new ROM.
IV. Adding/Removing Applications from the ROM
1. In your Ubuntu Virtual Machine, goto Places at the top. Then click on Home Folder, then the WORKING folder that was created in section II when you dissected the original ROM or img files. Then goto system > app. (Also check Data > App as .apks can be put in there as well).
2. In the app folder you will see all the .apk files for all the applications you have currently in the ROM. Simply delete the ones you do not want to remove them from the ROM.
3. To add applications, simply copy any .apk file for the applications you want to add into the app folder.
V. Repackage the ROM so it can be Flashed onto a Phone
1. Once you have done whatever changes you want, you just need to type 99 and hit enter in the kitchen/terminal for the kitchen to take the working folder you have been messing with and compile it into a flashable update.zip ROM.
2. Once it is done compiling the ROM, we can transfer it to our phone.
VIa. Setup Ubuntu to See Your Phone via USB
1. In the Virtual Box windows with Ubuntu in it, click on Devices at the top then click Install Guest Additions. (It should autostart, if it doesn’t, click on the CD that appeared on the desktop in Ubuntu and then click on Autostart.sh. It will ask you for your password you created when setting up Ubuntu, put that in and let it install).
2. Once the Guest Additions are installed, close the Virtual Box Ubuntu Window (choose to Power Down the Machine).
3. Now, open Virtual Box itself (not Ubuntu) and highlight the Ubuntu machine, then click on Settings at the top.
4. Click on USB and make sure Enable USB Controller and Enable USB 2.0 are both enabled.
5. Now plug in your Android phone (do NOT mount the SD card, just plug it in).
6. Now in the USB menu of Virtual Box, click the + symbol on the right and then select your Android Device (name may be different).
7. Once that is installed, unplug your phone.
8. Now, Start your Ubuntu Virtual Box.
9. Once Ubuntu boots up, plug in your Android phone (do not mount the memory card yet) and look for the USB symbol at the bottom (fourth icon from the left) and hover over it and wait for it to say USB Device detected and display your phone. Once that happens, mount the sd card by pulling down the notification bar on your phone and clicking mount.
10. Ubuntu should pop up your SD card on the desktop (if any prompts come up just select do nothing and click ok). We can now transfer files to the memory card of our phone.
VIb. Use RapidShare to Transfer the File from Ubuntu to Windows (if Section VIa was giving you trouble)
1. If you can’t get the USB to work in Ubuntu, then simply open a Firefox browser window, goto Rapidshare.com and upload the ROM to there.
2.Once it is done uploading, ON YOUR WINDOWS COMPUTER NOT UBUNTU, put in the link it gave you when you finished uploading it, to download it to your Windows computer so we can transfer it to your phone.
VII. Flash the ROM
5. Copy the .zip file to the root of your SD card (NOT in any folders, just on the SD card itself).
6. Unplug the phone and turn it off.
7. Turn it back on by holding down home and power (do not let go until the recovery screen comes up) to get to recovery mode (you must have a custom recovery screen to do this, if you don’t find out How To Root and Load a ROM procedure for your phone and do those first).
8. Now select Nandroid Backup to create a backup before we flash the new ROM.
9. Once the backup is done, select Wipe Data / Factory Reset in recovery mode.
10. Select flash zip from sd card and select the ROM you just put on the sd card.
11. Once it is done flashing, click reboot. Enjoy!
Enjoy! Will update this as we add more things for you to tweak FeWant to Flash a New Splash Screen on Your 320×480 Resolution Android Device? Here’s how.

HOW-TO: HTC T328W from China (Bootloader unlock, rooting, installing Google apps and removing bloatware.
02/July/2012
This guide has been tested on two HTC T328W dual-sim phones bought from China. It has also been tested with the following Build numbers and baseband versions and both worked perfectly.
Dear mods: I know this is not the correct thread for this phone. Please create a new subforum for this great phone and move all T328W threads into it. They are all over the place (from One V to Desire, etc.). Thanks.
!!I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE!!
Phone 1:
Kernel: 3.0.16
Baseband: 1.04.34D.11_20.11.30.11U
Build number: 1.35.1402.1
Browser: 534.30
Phone 2:
Kernel: 3.0.16
Baseband: 1.06.34D
Build number: 1.56.1402.6
Browser: 534.30
The zip file containing all needed files can be found at mediafire . c o m / ?783kthx72x3uf5d .
I could not attach the zip file (I get a page not found) and am not allowed to post outside links yet.
Bootloader unlocking
1. Let’s change the language to English first so we understand the phone better. Open the apps menu and go to the Settings icon (the cogwheel icon). Scroll down to the setting with the “A” icon. Click the first item in the list and choose English.
2. Go to htcdev . c o m, create an account and click the Unlock bootloader icon. After logging in, choose “All Other Supported Models” from the list and click the Begin Unlock Boatloader button. Accept that you may lose any guarantee and continue to follow the instructions.
3. To enter bootloader mode, make sure the phone is off (or remove the battery for a few seconds). Then hold Volume Down and start pressing the Power button – without any USB cable. Use the up and down buttons to select “Fastboot” and select it using the Power button. Now connect your USB cable and continue following the HTC instructions.
4. All the files you need are in the zip you can get above. I also installed the HTC Sync program which installs the drivers. Using the command prompt you can simply navigate to the extracted files and run the fastboot command. (Use the command “cd C:/myextractedzip” to change to a directory).
5. Save the Unlock_Code.bin attachment which you get from HTC by Email into the same extracted zip folder and run the next command. You now have an unlocked bootloader and the phone will start up and an HTC wizard will appear where you can choose the English language again.
Flashing clockworkmod
1. Remove any USB cables and boot again into the bootloader mode. Click Fastboot and reconnect your USB cable. Now run the following command on your computer: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img . This flashes the clockworkmod recovery image onto the phone.
2. Switch off your phone. Make sure your USB cable is removed.
3. Now copy the “app” folder from the zip onto a micro-sd card. Also copy the “CWM-SuperSU-v0.92.zip” and “rootexplorer_2.16.apk” onto the micro-sd card.
4. Insert the micro-sd card into the phone and boot into boatloader mode again.
5. Now choose the recovery option instead of fastboot and wait for clockworkmod recovery to appear.
Rooting the phone
1. In clockworkmod recovery, choose install zip from sdcard
2. Choose “choose zip from sdcard” and choose “CWM-SuperSU…zip”
3. Scroll down to “Yes – Install CWM-SuperSu” and wait. Now go back and reboot the phone normally.
Installing Google Apps
1. Using the included file manager on the phone, click on “rootexplorer.apk” and install it. When launching root explorer, make sure you grant it superuser permissions.
2. Go click the “sdcard” folder and press and hold the “app” folder that you copied from the zip file. Click “copy” and then navigate to /system . Press “Mount R/W”. And then click “Paste”. Choose Yes to overwrite. Exit root explorer.
3. Now we need to fix the permissions. The easiest way is if you enable USB Debugging mode from the “Developer Options” settings. Make sure you connect your USB cable.
4. Open a command prompt to our extracted zip folder and type “adb shell”. Press enter and you should see “[email protected]:/ $”. Run “su”. Run “cd /system/app”.
5. Now to fix all permissions, run “chmod 644 *.apk” and then run “chown root.root *.apk” .
6. Now run “reboot” to reboot your phone.
Removing bloatware apps
1. Thanks to dark_hawk from xda-developers, we have a list of system apps/bloatware that are save to remove. You can easily do this from the root explorer app. Go to /system/app and hold each item you want to delete. Then click delete. You can also remove each app’s odex file.
The list:
116114.apk
2254_HTCCU_WO3G_SIE.apk
DoubanFM.apk
DreyeCHSPkg40.apk
HTCCN_FileManager.apk
HTC_Widget_Renren.apk
HTC_Widget_Sina_Weibo.apk
HTC_Widget_Sina_Weibo_Nearby.apk
HTC_Widget_Sina_Weibo_Trend.apk
HTC_Widget_Sina_Weibo_Trend.apk
HtcMusicEnhancer_China_Sina.apk

wefound.apk
2. Then run “reboot” to reboot your phone.
3. After the reboot you might still find some Chinese language apps. These can be removed with an app from the Play Store such as Root Uninstaller.
by SeBsZ.
If you have any problems, please post below and I will answer and/or update this post.
followed your guide and managed to install the google apps, including Play Market.
Big thanks!
By the way, did you try to install a newer version of android/ ROM?
Hi
Thanks for the instructions. I have installed the update successfully.
Although installing the market initially failed. Before that the phone booted.
After applying the google aps bit the phone didn't startup again it hang at the 'HTC quitly brilliant' screen.
Although after first reinstalling the RUU and after that doing this procedure again it worked. I'm new to Android I can follow instructions although I'm clouless of what I'am actually doing.
I have a few problems though:
1.
After installing however I have a problem that google play now sais that I can't install runkeeper because my phone isn't compatible.
I was able to install this program before on this phone. Anyone a clue on that?
2.
Also I have a problem that if I wan't to apply a system update of android from the about screen it will error with "assert failed: getprop("ro:cid") == "00000000"
Anyone a sollution for that specific for this phone?
3.
Also I have a problem with this phone that my 3G internet is working strangly. I hoped to solve this with installing a newer version.
Some applications are always working like play store, facebook, friendcaster. Youtube app works ok when browsing videos, although can't play.
Whatsapp only seems to work a few minutes after the 3G connection is set up. And internet browsing doesn't work at all. I tried opera and firefox.
With WIFI all is good and then it is a wonderfull phone.
I get good download speeds when I install a program from google play.
Although I would love to have a stable whatsapp and browsing capabilities while i'm away from wifi. Anyone familliar with this problem?
I was hoping to adress the internet issue by updating ICS, although like stated this also fails.
Many thanks ina advance for your help!
Hi
following your instruction I just updated 3 pcs of HTC Build number: 1.56.1402.6. All done, all OK. One think that voice search is not working on phone dialpad, I have to remove it and install voice search from the market - now in apps like maps, phone search working fine. Till now I didn't find any else problem
Thanks very much. BR Kris

SohuNews.apk
VDisk.apk
Weibo.apk

2. Then run “reboot” to reboot your phone.
3. After the reboot you might still find some Chinese language apps. These can be removed with an app from the Play Store such as Root Uninstaller.

Hello guy,
I received this morning this phone from Etotalk.
I bought also from them their preinstalled services including multilangiage OS and unlocking and rooting services (I know how to root but 'cause price was so low....).
However I received the phone...but...:
1. Only English & China language installed
2. Wlan & btooth doesn't work
When I switch on the WLAN appears error message. And remains 'Turning WLAN on'. Also Btooth doesn't switch on
So I am asking myself if this is related to the root process or somewhat else or is an hardware problem ??
I want to flash again a new rom but I don't know where to retrive an ICS rom with italian language....
I opened also a dispute in Paypal.......
Is it possible that all is related to a software problem and not an hardware problem ?
Please let me know, if you can....

Mine is from etotalk too and it works fine!
Try to make first reset the phone! Should be working then! I think, it`s only software problem! if it`s rootet, install the recovery from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751788
and make a NAND Backup! Then you can try to flash the newest European ROM!
But in first step, try to reset the complete phone in SETTINGS-Storage scroll down to end here!
My Desire V is from India and worked fine now i have rooted phone thanks
BB version# 1.05.34D.29_20.21.30.23U
Build # 1.60.720.5 CL69250 release-key

@ Petteri
Any hints on how to make NAND backup? Actually I want to make a backup image of existing setup before playing with it, so as if something goes wrong, I can come back to present state. My phone is also from etotalk. So any help on making recovery backup would be appreciated.

Hi

So I purchased this phone from eBay, it came "unlocked" and I am able to use it in Canada easily. No problems with Google Apps, english, etc.
I don't know if this is a rooted unlock or a hardware carrier unlock.
So, with HTC now telling me there are system updates available, I don't know whether installing them will lock the phone up if it's been rooted. I've written the seller a few times and despite very many positive reviews, I have no answer to this question. So I'm posting here.
I have:
Android 4.0.3
HTC Sense v. 4
Software 1.60.707.5
HTC SDK API level 4.2
HTCEtension_403_1_GA_8
kernel

Any help here would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

As your baseband matches the build number it would suggest that you have an original Asia version. You should be able to use the OTA update without problems. If when you run the update it says something about "HTC has detected that the software is not original" then you probably have a Chinese model that has Asia firmware on it.
Unable to stay login to HTCDev
I recently got a Desire V and wants to root it.
Not sure if any of you faces this problem..I have registered at HTCDev and followed the instruction to click on the email link to complete registration. However each time when I successfully log in, I am being thrown out and I need to re-login. Sometimes I am able to succesfully log in to the bootloader section and then am able to select the model and go through the legal notification. But after that Im always thrown out.
Is anyone facing this? I have registered for another id and its the same thing.
Need a HUGE favor...is it possible for someone who has registered successfully and unlocked their bootloader to lend me their userid?? Desperately trying to root this phone. Thanks.
Hello, it seems that the link for the files does not work anymore. Would somebody able to share these files ?
Best regards
hi this phone was rooted on 25th sept(after many months of launch).i request the devs here someone to please develop an custom rom for the mobile or just mod the current one.
How to root?
By this time, many users may get rooted but there is no tutorial for that in androidforums so posting here.
Plus, I have modded original boot.img of A52 myself and added init.d support plus support for initializing ext2,3,4 modules on boot.
DOWNLOADS:
1) Unsecured boot.img (zip contains unsecured boot.img + A52 scatter file)
http://www.mediafire.com/?h9ubm9dhq9n7jjd
2) SP.FlashTool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1353992&d=1348592592
3) Drivers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1353943&d=1348591411
4) UnlockRoot
http://www.unlockroot.com/
Note: Usemastermind1024 as password to download above files.
Advantages of my boot.img:
I have added init.d support plus ext2.ko,ext3.ko & ext4.ko modules initialization on boot.Just place this ko files in /system/lib/modules/ after rooting the device, u will be able to use Link2SD with ext2,3 or 4 filesystems on your 2nd sdcard partition.
Press thanks if helped

Its a paid app and adding it into a rom is against forum rules.

CWM is Clockworkmod Recovery, it's a recovery replacement of stock recovery. the procedure is told is how to install CWM by replacing Stock recovery, if you have successfully flashed "ICS_W25_Stable" you already should have CWM on your system. try by pressing VOL UP + Power and hold untill Red display showes up. I am sorry i can't help you with Language support. But if you don't install CWM on your system then you wont be able to update new roms.

Reset To factory settings, then start using link2sd. internal memory shows low because of preinstalled apps. you can use my 3rd updated rom "OPSHORA". this one is best. i personally use this rom. but you need to follow all procedures step by step. but you don't need to update Baseband again. OPSHORA rom has some Blue screen issue sometime, but removeing your battery will fix it.
