Hey guys I have an Epic Touch 4g and I was wondering if youd be able to replace the glass only!?I know theyve done it on the i900 but this one has a touch only home button.I already ordered the glass I just wanted to know it its been done successfully?!please help guys I cant afford the glass plus digitizer!!
As far as I kno a it can bs done. You would need to look up exactly how and where to heat tje screen up to seperate the glass from the digitizer. Also putting it back on will be a pain with the dust and whatnot. Good luck.

I sell the whole screen with LCD and digitzer with earphone jack for $50 with free shipping

Doing just the glass is a very time consuming and very risky process. You will need a heating plate or a heat gun. Not a blow dryer. If you do it incorrectly with either device, you will fry the LCD or other components. It is much easier and much safer to just replace the full assembly. I am very proficient with hardware and I would much rather replace the entire assembly than attempt to do just the glass. It is too risky.

Does anyone know of a good video, emphasis on good, describing the teardown and replacement of the screen. I'm about to start searching and honestly I don't have a lot of time to find it on my own.
Thanks.
Let's put it this way, if you don't have the time to do a 3 second google search, we won't have the time to help you. We are not here to babysit and spoon feed. With the amount of time it took to type that out, you could have searched.

Today was a sad day. I dropped my GNex when taking it out my pocket to get in my vehicle. It dropped faced down from waist height and landed on some rocks/concrete. It took a chip out the glass and shattered in a few places.
Everything still works which is pretty good I guess no problem with the touch screen
I was crushed when I picket it up and fist saw it. I have a silicon case on it and no screen protector.
I hate cases and screen protectors but if I can get this fixed I will probably use both.
My questions is what's my best options here. My brother got me the phone from UK I use it on TMobileUSA. Basically I have no warranty here and wondered if there is someone in the USA that replaces screens or can send me one to do if not majorly complicated.
My brother said Carphone Warehouse will fix it ~£100 but they send it out. Seeing I use my phone alot for work was hoping to be without for minimal amount of time.
Any ideas? thanks

Send it to Samsung. I've read they will replace screens for $160 or so with a two week turn around.

Yup, you will need phone tools too.. Also found online: Amazon, ebay, etc..
Then just search for a "tear down" and follow the instructions.
I had my Galaxy S2 display broken. Took it to a repair center and saw how easily they put in a completely new front! I don't know if it is just as easy with a Nexus, (and offcourse here only replacing the screen applies as the back is made of one piece of plastic) but it might be worth to look?
You can find a display on ebay by searching for: galaxy nexus front display
I know it is expensive, but shopping a bit around the internet might help?
Advantage of doing it yourself is obviously that you don't have to send your phone away and being phoneless

I ended up sending the phone to my brother back in England. Carphone Warehouse fixed it for ~£79.
But I was too impatient and just ordered a new phone before I sent it off. I now have a screen protector and case
Sucks to break the screen as it can break so easily and there is no easy way to get it fixed in the US with the GSM version bought overseas.

Sadly do not seem to be having a lot of luck recently with my HTC Desire Z.
After looking over topics on this subject and trying most of then including using HtcCalibrate.apk.
Found a screen touch test app and got this result:

I hope you can see this image.
There are 2 lines 1 towards top of screen and 1 in the middle, where I can not make any contact.
I assume that this means replacement of digitizer/touch screen part?
Just would like second opinion or any more options before I try repair or pay for repair.
I have the same problem in my desire z,the non working area of the screen being the left of the screen and the home key. Also sometime the touch will just stop registering touchs alltogether,or register false touches. If someone knows, before trying to repair it,is it the digitizer,or the ribon that conects the two halfs of the phone?

I have the same problem in a different area. How much trouble is this to replace? Can I do it myself, or is it technical? How much does the part cost, and where to buy it from?
Sorted
Well when I looked into replacing touch screen part, there is a you tube video you can watch to see how it's done.
Yes it is complex in my eyes but have a look here's link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9S7k1OJalM
Cost me £45.00 to get it done locally.
You can get part easy off Ebay if you want to do it yourself.
What's the part called? How to search for it?
Parts
Assuming you have the same fault as my HTC you need replacement digitizer.
Just type "htc desire z replace digitizer" into Ebay.
Is the repair easy for an amateur like me? Or is it delicate and I'd better get a repairman?
I find them very simple to replace but i have done around 10 for the vision and dozens on other phones. I dont think you need to be well versed in electronics repair for a job like this, its mostly screws and common sense.
Id say as long as you have a little patients and are willing to watch youtube videos and do a little research even an amateur should have little worries. There is no soldering or anything else that may be considered technical required.
only thing that may be a little tricky for a novice is separating the digitizer from the bezel, but its still fairly easy. for a little more you can buy it together if your worried, seen it this way on ebay at least.
good luck!
So I watched the youtube videos of how to do and ordered everything but the 2mm tape...so we searched all of the local stores and no one sells it. So I read somewhere here before the idea of someone using superglue...and had a little trouble using some guitar pics that the replacement kits send you and used a credit card to get the middle broken glass instead...it was actually a success...the only problem with the phone it has a spot on the screen sorta looks like its touching the digitizer...is that really ever gonna b a problem? The superglue and/or the spot??

Only time will tell. ..
But for now. . If the device runs properly. ..then roll with it. ..
I do however. ..pity you if the screen needs repair again. ..as it will require the new screen and digitizer next time around. ..
The 2mm tape would have been the choice for me. ...g
I wouldn't be able to stand my phone looking like that. I would've paid whatever to have it repaired professionally.

Yea the price locally here was 250 $ with a 75 $ deposit I would never see again...I mean the phone works 100 percent but it will b taken care of to the fullest...it does bother me but its a quick fix that I did for around 50 bucks...im pretty sure I can take it back off because it didnt need that much superglue...jus mainly the corners...I just dont want to attempt it again without the proper tools again...its a story I wanted to share if someone is really desperate and cant fork out 250 bucks to get it fixed...

Will you believe it? I got from e bay whole kit including glass and tape and everything for 22 bucks. Replaced the screen after watching YouTube videos.
Then somehow there was moisture left in the center and it looked like your phone currently is...
I couldn't stand the sight of it... took it to att repair and warranty store and they gave me a new one, not knowing that its screen was replaced by me. He said its not my fault that moisture got into the screen.
I think I was lucky but hey, it was worth a shot.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
ya this is why I always replace screens with the lcd and digitizer already together, too many things can go wrong.
but in your case if the phone is still working and you can handle to look go with it, if not then I would look into the whole replacement and hope the $ comes down some lol.
Ok my Daughter droped my phone and Cracked the Screen.. I thought going the Glass Replacement would be the best option since it's a whole lot cheaper then the LCD replacement..
So I Replaced the Glass , everything went smooth but when I turned it back on the LCD looked like this..
I'm just hoping someone knows before i buy a new one. and not work

How did you claim it with warranty? And how long did it take? I have a note 2 as well, I replaced the glass. It was perfectly fine before I replaced it. All that was broken was the glass. And once I turned it in on became hazy I can still see but it's really annoying not having good clarity. Any help would be awesome. I posted a few pictures of what the screen looks like at start up.

Ensurion
If everyone is paying the $7.99 a month for the ensurion insurance, they cover loss. You have to pay $50 to get a new/refurbished device. But $50 is still cheaper than replacement cost. In lamens terms take what you want off of your device chuck it and claim a loss.

Hi all,
Just my luck, and what a way to start the new year!
My nephew managed to knock my phone off the table and onto the tiled floor, cracking my Galaxy Note 2 N7105's screen. (My new case comes in tomorrow T_T)
It has a big smash to the glass front, and I was just wondering if someone could tell me which bit was broken? E.g the glass or the digitiser etc, and how much it would cost to fix?
The phone still works PERFECTLY, S-Pen works flawlessly too, so I'm guessing it's just the front and not the digitiser that's the problem.
Here's a picture of the damage.

The digitiser or just the front glass screen? If it' the digitiser it'll cost me over £100
However, if it's the glass, it'll cost me £15.

You only need to change the front glass. The glass itself doesn't cost much you can get one easily from eBay. Unfortunately the glass is bonded to the LCD by strong adhesive and you need to carefully remove it so as to not cause any further damage to the display. You need some tools and also hair dryer/heat to remove carefully. You can search in YouTube for tutorials before proceeding to try on your own. Good luck :good:
Just wondering if you tried changing the glass? I have the same problem and am trying to decide if it's within my abilities to tackle this

Wow, maybe your lucky, search on YouTube there are many videos of how to fix your digitizer. And you need heater, i think hair dryer can help, tiny both side tape, and free time.
