So I am a newbie, I've flash before ect with no problems, so I sorta know what I am doing. But what I am rather curious about is GB27. I finally stopped being lazy and updated to it recently so I'm stock nonrooted at the moment. When I was reading the changelog it said it would have googlenow among other things but when I finally finished it has absolutely nothing it said in the change log. Am I missing something here? I still have all the old voice commands ect, but I wanted to try and get svoice anyway but I'm not sure what to do from here other than a custom rom.
i just upgraded mine too... google now from what I am seeing as I have no clue on all this stuff.. it is the blue G icon that says.. Google ....
i had vlingo installed and when holding the search button on my neighbors razor he gets the google now... but i got vlingo. So I went into app manager and found voice something.. went into it and hit disable so now it works for me...:good:
then you have to setup google now. My neighbor loves it.. it txt him if traffic will be on his ride to work and all kinds of stuff...
You long press the home button and you get a "recent apps" window, at bottom are 3 buttons, task mgr, g, and trash. Press the "g" boom Google now. The more you use it, the smarter it gets.

I'm curious to know, since the galaxy nexus doesnt have contextual menu button, how will we change the settings? i dont think we're gonna see 20.000 apps adapted on the launch day, they should be releasing their updates as i post this :/ , maybe we'll have to install honeycomb apps?
cmon, please read the other threads. There are several asking this exact same question, some of which are on the first page still!
When running legacy apps, the menu button appears in the bottom next to the multi-tasking button, just like it works on honeycomb.
Question answered and to avoid further flaming, thread closed.
Mark.
Ok so it appears that ALOT of people came from the OG Droid to the GNex.
Just wanted to see if there was any more interest out there for the softkeys to be the same as first used on the OG Droid.
I know there are other Devs working on this, PaulB....etc..
I rarely used the Search on my Droid (actually cant remember ever using it, but anyway.) But I used Back Arrow all the time. Like it on the far LEFT. Then Menu, and then Home. Multi Task can be removed as well.
If anyone else feels this way, feel free to reply.
Oh and if Im posting in the wrong , place, please move. Thanks.
dude.. we just get this development forum opened and THIS is the first thread created? c'mon this has nothing to do with development. If you're looking to judge people's interest in something consider starting in the general or q and a section if you're going to start a thread or better yet, posting in the relevant thread, which you referenced would be a good idea.
Nice request but you willget much better results posting in the right sectiom
My bad for posting in the wrong place. CDMA Development specific forum looked like the right place. Besides like you said, nothing else was posted. I now know that you were just starting up the new area.
Thanks for moving to the right place.
Now with that out of the way,
What is everyones thoughts?
This would be AMAZING!
So hang on a second, you want to remove a major feature of Android 4.0, the multi-tasking menu and replace it with a search button that can also be accessed from the top of the screen AND that you said your self you have NEVER used.... excuse me but your logic does not seem sane... Why would you not just leave the multi-tasking button and just put it in the place of the search button...
No. I think you misread my post.
I like the button arrangement on the Droid. I don't like how the menu/settings button or dots now are never in the same place on 4.0. It depends on the app as to its placement . Pretty silly in my opinion. I like the soft key idea ALOT, just not the new arrangement.
And I said you could take the SEARCH key off as I never use it. Menu/settings key is the one I would like to see on the bottom always. Heck exchanging the multi task key for menu/settings would be cool as well.
I could probably get used to the multi task once I use it some. Still trying to break old habits of pushing home or back.

I hink its a great idea. Id suggest that you allow the search button to still be available with side dots but the back, menu, home and recents apps with OGD buttons icons would be awaeome. I hope i get to flash this in the very near future
I like the idea. What would be even better is if we were able to just change the icons and what they do. A lot like you would do with a app launcher.
Anyone knows how do i get Google Play/Market to work on my phone.
I get a message that i have to create an account.
Here's my story.
Flashed 7.1 for the very first time on my Desire and worked like a charm until i started on Google Apps.
I downloaded the version CyanogenMod 9 on the SD card and installed.
On the first attempt i did not get any Google Application except for the Google Play/Market.
I could not use it because it kept on throwing Sever Error. I installed Market Enabler as a fix but uninstalled it because it did not figure out how to use it.
I then hard rebooted the phone, cleared Dalvik Cache and re-installed the CyanogenMod 9 (Google Application package again). I did not get any lock screen but this time it installed Facebook and Twitter. There was no Google e-mail available so i could not use market again.
The third time i used CyanogenMod7. Installation was painless but as soon as the phone shows the lock screen it went back to the loading screen with Android icon.
The fourth time i tried CyanogenMod9 again but this time i only got Google Play/Market.
I used 5 presious hours yesterday and had to roll back to the original ROM because i could not get the Market to work.
Reply in the right section and you might get a decent reply, this is development only. you need to put it in Q/A section or in the thread for the rom you used.
Wrong section. Reported.
Don't post here anymore - it's no use bumping this to the top of the forum, only annoying.
As for you, OP - you're an I-D-I-D-O-T-H.

A little respect wouldn't go amiss. (as your here to 'help' as your sig says). The poster above you said all that needed to be said.
Erm - if I was going to infract the OP for posting in the wrong section, I would definitely infract the rest of you for flaming.
This is very simple: report the post. Do not reply. Do not flame. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Let me deal with 'training' the user to post in the correct forums - that's my job.
To the OP, some guidelines:
1. do not post in Development.
2. if you have to ask, 'should this go in development?' the answer is almost always no.
3. when in doubt, see rule 2, and post it in General. If it belongs in Development, it'll get moved.
Posting in Development is like true love - when it happens, you'll know!
A bit lame but I hope that helps.
Who the hells Erm?
kite edit: just my personal take on "um" or "uh".
Back on topic!
I want a phonepad t9 4x3 style keyboard that has t9 auto correct. Apparently samsung doesn't want this for me. Whenever I type a word, the mess of letters that I entered on the keypad are the default option, and for EVERY WORD i have to click the correct word next to it. Even if it's just "you" or there". I was reading online and a lot of other people are experiencing this too. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've hard reset it a few times to no avail.
This is my default option as it comes up, highlighting the mess of letters instead of to the right like it should. I watched a video on youtube and the guy was showing how it types and it was defaulting to the right, but mine isn't. It makes no sense.
and yes, we're talking about toilet paper haha
alright so I tried to use system app remover to uninstall the keyboard and reinstall it, but when I restore it from a backup, it doesn't do anything. I even put it in the apps folder by hand and its not reinstalling. I think that my backup is corrupted. does anyone have a copy of it that they can throw up here, or tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Frozen apps keep re-appearing - how to stop?
I have rooted my tab 3 10.1 (P5210) JB 4.2.2. Went well.
Install TB and started to de-bloat, First round was to freeze any app that I did not want or I thought would invade/compromise my privacy (just about everything from samsung and most from google). This seemed to work.
Added my apps from the play store, so far no problem.
However, in order to be able to select my choice for things like - browser, contact editor. etc; I used app manager to reset app defaults {reset all),
The immediate result was that all of the disabled (frozen) apps were reactivated and/or reinstalled.
How can I stop this happening?
