Running a Virtual Machine (.iso) - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way of running a small virtual machine (150MB Debian .iso web server, just boot it and it will run in background in console mode) in Android?
Thanks!

An app to record what's happening on my screen

Has anyone developed an app that records everything that's happening on my screen? I have seen videos on youtubes of people showing off their phones and it looks like someone is recording just what's happening on the screen, not the phone it self. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

It's done with ShootMe (root required).
Not to bash the app but shootme just takes screenshots at max 10 per second to make it a video. It doesn't work for what I'm trying to show.
Is there any app that can capture the device at at least 20-30FPS?

This isn't exactly what you are after. but it might help you
You can install a VNC server on your phone from
the market and install some type of VNC viewer on your PC ,by doing that,
you can stream your phones screen to your PC and record it as a video
on your pc.

This actually sounds great to me. I just don't know what VNC is. Do you know of a guide I can follow or can you make one? Sorry if its too much to ask?

It is actually very straight forward to setup.
All you need to do is :
Download and install droid VNC server on your phone from the market (free or paid)
and download a vnc client on your pc , if you are using Linux you can install
"gtk vnc viewer" or any other one ,they are many available. or if you are using
windows, download TightVNC from download.com (cnet) and install it on your pc
on your phone, open up the app and and press start server it will give you some sort of ip address ,
from your pc open the viewer (TightVNC is both viewer and server) type the address and hit connect.
and thats all there is to it . Obviously both your pc and your phone should be connected to a wireless network.

For me that VNC app was terribly slow. Wouldnt be useful for recording your screen.
It also depend on the client you are using on your pc
And your network speed too.
But yeah the video is not going to be as smooth as recording your desktop. Its basically like using remote desktop.
You can also do it the otherway around so you can control your pc from your phone.

Any update at all on this? Any new apps around that do it properly?

Works perfectly for me, note you must have the android SDK installed, and point the program to it on first run.
Use ShootMe and at the top were it shows 'A heartbeat monitor thing' click that and click screencast. This will allow you to make videos of whats going on on your screen.. +Rep if I helped.

I had no idea ShootMe had a screencast option and I've been using it for over a year. Thanks so much. I've been using the android sdk and a program called [email protected], but ShootMe is a bit easier.

-Sadly not compatible to our device. Can anyone do a workaround to make it compatible?
Here's the link by the way.
I've read it's incompatible with all ARM6 devices. If there's any truth to that, I don't know. Though there are a lot of complaints that it's not compatible for a lot of people. Huge disappointment!

I have been looking at this recently and considering downloading it for testing.
What sort of impact does is have on pc resources?
I only use a laptop and would still like to be able to use other applications while bluestacks is running.
You can use lot of apps, but don't use Whatapp or similar apps because they can not work on 2 devices in same time. Just give it a try

Java on galaxy note 8?

So recently ive been trying to visit Keepvid.com on my tablet, only get the following message:
" Java is not installed or has been disabled. Get Java here:*http://keepvid.com/java*and enable it in your browsers plugins if necessary."
I have adobe flash installed which I thought would cover these internet features, but apparently my understanding of java and flash are completely off.
My question is:
How can I view java content on my Galaxy Note 8.0?
I use "Internet", "Chrome", and "Firefox".

Remote desktop such as VNC, Splashtop, Chrome Remote Desktop, etc.
It is possible to do Java _software_ on Android in a chroot. A debian chroot for ARM supports a fairly full JDK. But Android web browsers DO NOT support Java....and very likely never will.

Welcome
Just got JDK hard float install script tested too; so both forms of Linux are supported to install Java's JDK.
We can now run full Java on devices over six years old!
I'm using LilDebi app for Hard Float and Debian Kit app for Soft Float Linux testing.
