3G Speeds - HTC One V

Does anyone know of a way i can get my data speeds faster, regardless of battery life, my speeds seem a bit slow lately. Also, seen people on virgin mobile "throttled", anyone know what this is?

seriously? nobody?

Try some ini.td tweaks via pimp my rom

Your connection gets throttled (slowed down) when you exceed the monthly data limit (like 2.5 GB).

Data spees

Hey everyone, I'm just curious as to the data speed on my Evo. I get average of 5 bars on my phone, but when I run speed tests, I only average out at about 310 kbps. Way to slow for 3g speeds! Anyone know why? I think its when I flashed a certain Rom a while back, but don't remember which one.
Any ideas?

{Q} Verizon throttling data speeds after 5GB in monthly cycle?

I've just recently began to wonder how much data I am capable of using in my monthly cycle & used 3G Watchdog Pro to monitor it and it being 21 days / 3 weeks in I managed to reach 5.82GB and have been seeing my download speeds diminish when it comes to YouTube videos, downloading applications, etc.
I am wondering if anyone else has seen or experienced this same thing?
Thanks in advance.

I've been averaging about 10 to 12 GB a month and haven't seen any throttling yet. (Keeping my fingers crossed)
I'm wondering if the network is experiencing problem's in my area..
Or at least hoping that's the case cause to download an app that's less than 200mb it takes 2-3 mins which is extremely unusual..
Fingers crossed as well.

I usually don't see customers getting throttled until the reach like 20+ gigs. From my understanding the throttling side will more affect 4g users. This is not saying us 3grs won't be messed with.

Sprint throttles 4G

For some time now ive been doing some speedtest on Sprints 4G network and it seems that they throttle 4G because it seems consistent with standard ISP's who throttle also unless you pay for a higher speed. WiMAX is way much powerful and faster than LTE and it has been proven so why is it that sprint seems to only get 10mbps Download and ONLY 10mbps.could they be doing this for a reason ?? I want to know what you guys think ??

There is people that pull over 10 mb/s
wimax is CAPABLE of much higher speeds, however it is dependant on soo many factors i.e. signal stregth, server loads, amount of users connected to the tower, etc, etc.
Just because your not getting the stated speeds (theoretical) does not mean they are throttling. this goes for any ISP bro
It all depends on how many people are connected at the same time. There's only so much bandwidth to go around. There are times when your speed will be slower because more people are connected to the same tower. Just like cable broadband... There are peak times when your speed will be slower

Obviously i know that look at verizon they have more customers and their LTE can pull off 22mbps plus WIMAX (clearwire) has i believe the largest bandwidth/spectrum in the U.S.A
ISP do throttle if you didnt know that if they didnt all the basic data suscribers would be hitting 50mbps.

Couldn't say myself, 4G keeps disconnecting for me constantly, not exactly thrilled with the 4G performance of Sprint at the moment .....
Where I live I get 2 bars of 4G. 2 out of 3. Wimax 4G sucks for me. I probably get around 1mb download.

1mb is still way better than Sprint 3G!
I think it may have something to do with heat/power. I know wimax is capable of >10mbps but at what cost in terms of battery life? If there were low power cool running wimax chips im sure they could push the envelope.

But for 4G speed it's terrible. It's suppose to be 4G!! My brother has the Google Nexus S on T-Mobile and his 3G tops out around 3MB. Makes my 3G look like garbage lol. He's able to tether and the speeds are not bad at all. It's decent enough to tether. I can not tether on 3G because the speed is so slow. I have to be on 4G or else it's not even worth tethering. No internet at home so I rely on my phone.

WiMAX is a lot larger frequency, as where LTE is short. It is a lot easier to push LTE than WiMAX because WiMAX requires thrice as many towers to keep the signal from fading.
At work, I pull anywhere from 4-6 down and 0.7-1.5 up. Out and about in the Orange/Santa Ana area, I've gotten as high as 16 down and 4 up. It really just depends like others said, on area and users.
sorry we don't throttle, now what the network can handle during peak hours may be when your affected, but overall we do not touch delivery speed, go talk to t mobile they will tell you we don't, they are the experts lol

From very close by and it depends on how busy network is and where you are. There are also "bursts" which is why you will get 4-6Mbps download then suddenly get @ 12 Mbps down score. My upload speed is consistently 1.4-1.45 Mbps up. The cap on upload is 1.5

I read that people pull 30mbps when next to WiMAX stations.

That is a speed CAP not throttling. CAP is set top end limit and you won't go faster.
Throttling is when they gradually (or not so gradually) reduce your speeds after a certain period of time or data use.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I could've sworn that if Wimax was deployed at a lower frequency it can have just as good penetration as LTE. Its just Clearwire's Wimax is at 2.6GHz which sucks with penetration.

[Q] Down grade from 4g

So I'm coming from a Vibrant (3g only)....with it I got unlimited internet, but when I hit their 2Gig limit, it slowed down...but not by much....
I love my Galaxy S 2, but I noticed that the only connection speed I get is 4g....now with Tmobile I have the 2Gig plan, after which they slow you WAY DOWN! so slow that the Nav/GPS system won't work (it feels like edge speed or slower). I'm wondering if there is a way to use the 3g after I chew up my 4g?
Back in the day you could specify a different network/APN and switch over.
Anyone have a suggestion/answer?

Please and thank you! Enjoy your unlimited data. Though be warned. That APN is a bit slower than the default one. It cuts speeds sometimes by half. Still...half of 12mbps is plenty.

this doesn't work anymore, so you don't get unlimited data anymore.. however it might slow your data just a bit, but still terribly fast... how much are you paying for your 2gb data?
I've heard of people deleting the throttle files. Maybe try that?

Only possible if you hack t-mobile servers.
Throttling is done though the server, not your device.

[Q] T-Mobile 4G (not LTE) speeds issue

Hey guys. I love T-Mobile. But lately I have gotten horrible data speeds on 4G (not LTE). The average for the past three days has been 50 - 70 KB/s
Thats horrible. I remember I used to get 270 KB/s.
I am running my own ROM with the NB4 baseband installed.
My brother has the S3 and his speeds are pretty much the same as mine.
Are there any ROM tweaks to boost my speed or is T-Mobile throttling me? Or does their speeds literally just suck?
When I am in LTE I get AMAZING speeds no issues nothing. Just RAW FAST sweet speeds.
Its just 4G that sucks. And sadly thats all i get at my house (where i use most of my data)
If i were to call T-Mobile, what do you think could be done about it?
What are your 4G (not LTE) data speeds like??
I'm not sure if its my area or their network.
Kinda getting irritated by it. I feel like im back on Sprint.
If you call ask for a free cellular repeater.

It's possible you're being throttled. What plan do you have with T-Mobile? If you're like me on the $30 text and data plan, they throttle your 4G speeds after 5GB. If you're not past the 5GB limit, then it could just be the tower you're connecting to. Contact T-Mobile and give them your address so they can search for any possible errors. They have a Live Chat option you can use to get a faster response. Let them know of the problem so they can investigate it further.

I have the truly unlimited data plan so thats why i was a little weary about me being throttled. They better not be or i'll flip. Its weird, when i do a speed test, the speed jumps up to the normal 170 - 270 KB/s then goes way down to 50. And my LTE speed is 1 MB/s which is good but i remember getting about 2.3 - 3 MB/s.
I guess i'll just give em a call. May Odin back to MDL stock and check just to make sure its not a ROM issue.
I am still wondering what you guys are getting on 4G speeds. I really do feel like im back on Sprint.
