I have a quick question. Have anyone bought one of these cheap MTK S3 Clones and replaced the motherboard etc with the real motherboard of the S3?
I have a smashed S3, just recovered all photos and such through KIES. Instead of paying a deductible or fixing the lcd/digitizer I was wondering to buy the clone as a shell and just replace internals with the real ATT Samsung S3 parts?
What do you think?
MTK iS9300
MTK 6577
Its probably better just to replace the screen. Those both have super ****ty screens on them. I wouldn't be able to stand the screen, but I guess if you don't really care about it looking good you could.
I can pretty much guarantee you the insides will look nothing alike and therefore not fit at all

Just look at where the sim/sd cards are located.....
Completely different from the S3
Motherboards will be nothing alike.

Thanks.
I have the housing and all parts of the old S3, screen is just broken.
I am concerned about fit and screen. Hmmmm? Am I that bored to play around?

Seller said they dropped it in water. It holds a charge but will turn off shortly after being powered on. They're asking $100. Worth it or should I pass? Sounds like a hardware problem so I don't think its fixable without dishing out a lot of money.

I think you answered your own question. I'd say its definitely not worth it considering a lot of factors like how long it was in the water, what they did after they pulled it out, etc etc...
Replacing the logic board is cheaper than replacing the screen, so as long as the screen isn't cracked it shouldn't be that bad. However, you're not going to be able to easily find a replacement logic board yet. If it is well and truly broken, your best bet is to keep the screen and housing, then buy another Nexus that has a broken screen and frankenstein it together.
I'm looking for the back housing to a Verizon one, if anyone knows where I can get parts for them?

Not a good idea in my opinion!
Its like buying a used car with some issues and spending a lot of money to fix it's known bad issues then after sometime new bad issues will come up and you'll keep fixing it and so on that if u bought a new one wit would have been cheaper! Electronics are even worst!

Cars are different, though. Any issue with an engine that completely prevents it from running is not going to be traceable to any one particular part, especially if all of the parts are really old.
These phones literally have four major components that are easily replaceable, and only two of these components are going to keep the phone from being operational. If you replace both the logic board and the screen, it's practically a new phone.

I tried that route and, couldn't find any. Probably not putting the right words in search.

Not a good idea at all. Pay 300 more and you can get yourself a brand new one

I have a VZW Nexus with a bad charging port, not longer have VZW. Was thinking about "parting" it out, assuming there was enough interest.
I would be interested in the screen complete with the frame. How much would you want for it and what shape is it in?
There are a few very light scratches, nothing to obtrusive or long. As far as price, I have no clue... what's it worth?
The last one I saw on ebay used went for 45. Would you be willing to take 50 plus shipping costs? Attached is a picture of the part I would need. IT is the entire screen with the frame attached. It is glued to the frame so it would be easier for you to remove as well as for me to install if it was in one piece. Also a good take apart video is on the following page,

OK... now I just would like some interest in the rest of the phone.
You could buy a new USB board, put it in and sell the whole phone for a much higher price.
Beamed from my Grouper.

My radio is hooped. I would buy that part from you. My phone is a WindMobile GSM unlocked variant. Not sure if parts are compatible.
GSM and CDMA devices are completely different.
Beamed from my Grouper.
I would buy you your phone as is right now

I'd take the housing for 20.

You can replace only the glass of you are confident and willing to take the responsibility for potential screen damage.
I cracked my screen, that's the route I'll be taking, it's the cheapest. There's a really good thread in the general section for hire to do it. Also YouTube videos.
Mind you, this is just replacing the glass atop the screen.
Good luck!

I'm in the process of buying a used Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and I'm wondering what are the things I need to be careful about? I remember some things about bad procesors (manufactured around November 2011 IIRC), screen wear and other things..
Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Ask about screen burn. I bought a used one off of eBay. Great shape, except screen burn, but it's dealable.

I'll buy it in person, so I'll certainly check that, thank you.
So my brother in law dropped my sgs4 within a week of having it but thankfully the only thing with a small dent is the back cover. I've checked Amazon and T-mobile but can't find a stock back cover replacement. Can someone link me to one?

99.9% sure that's actually plastic painted to look like metal and I don't think it can be replaced.
You will need a replacement body. One for the M919.... which will be hard to get since its new, it is indeed plastic around the edges.
But you will be voiding warranty by opening the phone to put everything in the new housing. Might be better to give sammy a call or tmo at this point and make the troublemaker pay repair.

I just bought a full housing on eBay. Here's the link http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=251272447802&index=6&nav=SEARCH&nid=07242460945. I dropped my phone recently and was able to replace everything but the thin chromed plastic around the screen. The i9500 housing will fit our phones as the dimensions are identical. It's only a few screws to replace the mid section of the phone, and is very easy to do.
