Hi all,
I have Galaxy Note 2 LTE N7015T version on Telstra firmware.
I was previously on 4.1.1 rooted with CF-Auto Root
I wanted to upgrade to 4.1.2 and had a few issues in the process. I finally got phone to allow upgrade since it was showing as modified. I did an upgrade via Kies and had an issue where when it was at the stage uploading firmware to phone it got stuck at 4%
I was doing upgrade via the USB 3 port and heard this can cause issues. I pulled the plug and then Kies wanted to do an emergency firmware upgrade which by all accounts worked to 4.1.2 and still remained data intact
Now I noticed lately that phone was lagging so I did a full factory reset and start again. But still I am getting some lag issues. I did not re-root since going to 4.1.2 but one thing I noticed is that I used the app ES File Explorer it allows me to navigate to the Root folder which I thought required Root Access?
Anyway I noticed there is still a folder in there called root I guess from before?
Any recommendations to fix phone from lag? Should I reflash firmware from here using Odin? Does that reformat the root dir? Cheers

Hello,
This is going to come off as noob-ish:
How can I flash a 4.3 TW-based ROM onto my rooted Canadian (Bell) Note 2?
I was running CeanROM5 for a while, flashed SlimKat 4.4 last weekend but I'd like to go back to TW.
I'm usually pretty familiar with rooting and flashing ROMs (Desire Z, Note 10.1, Nexus 7...etc.), but I've read too many horror stories of people loosing their modems, IMEI going wrong...etc. with the Note 2, especially since there's a few variations of the device, so I want to be careful.
I was going to flash the stock firmware from Sammobile via Kies but my phone is being detected as a i317 and not a i317m and I'm wondering if that's a problem? (I know I could use ODIN, but again, I'm worried about screwing up the modem with what little I know right now) I was then going to use CF-Auto-Root (as I'm sure I'll lose root) to clean things up.
TL;DR I've got a Canadian (Bell) Note 2 running SlimKat, how to get onto a TW-based 4.3 rom without screwing anything up?
Thanks guys!
So, after waiting hours for the stock 4.3 firmware to download from Sammobile - it was corrupt, so I'm re-downloading, therefore I can't flash via odin just yet (apparently I still have another 2 hours on this download).
Kies won't recognize my phone either (I suspect this might be due to the whole i317 vs i317m thing?). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling kies on my PC, using different USB ports, and rebooting my phone...etc.
Again, any help would be super appreciated! Thanks!
Alright, so I'm running 4.3 and everything is working (wifi, modem...etc) but I can access superSU.
I used CF-Auto Root and it looked like it flashed the stock recovery. I have superSU installed but I can only open (not uninstall) it from the Play Store.
However, every time I do try to open it I get the pop up window "unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped".
So what am I doing wrong?
I guess this thread can be deleted as I seem to have sorted things out.
Philz recovery is very nice BTW.
Hi all,
I've got the N7100 on CM (last one that was stable) but currently whenever I try running Android File Transfer my phone is never recognised also same problem when I use Windows too. I wanted to unroot my phone and go to stock kit kat but the issue is not allowing me to do so?
Do you lot have any suggestions? I've already installed kies, re installed AFT and uninstalled it all etc but no luck! Getting frustrated now!
After browsing the internet all day yesterday I never did see an actual fix for this issue for this specific model. I did see a lot of random ones for different carriers which would probably work. But not for Sprint specifically.
Problem? My Sprint Galaxy Tab 3 7" failed at 27% whenever I attempted to update it.
Issue: The Tab was Rooted by my brother - who then Un-Rooted and returned it back to Factory before giving it to me. Then failed to mention he had rooted the thing to begin with.
Fix: Re-Flash using Odin and stock 4.2 image.
So I tried getting Kies installed and working. Tab would NEVER connect no matter what I did. I tried installing the USB drivers again (though the computer recognized the damn thing), reinstalling Kies, trying to put Kies into Compatibility mode (since I'm on Windows 8.1)
After ALL that I finally called my brother who gave it to me as a gift. Found out the thing may or may not have been Rooted. But he thought he had reverted it back to stock and un-rooted it.
So back to searching on the internet. Finally found this article: http://theunlockr.com/2014/03/21/unroot-samsung-galaxy-tab-3-7-0-sprint/ which suggested I try re-flashing using Odin to get rid of Root on the device.
I followed the steps in the article (Tip: Do a search on Google for the correct image zip for your model tablet and download it from androidhostfiles) Example for my specific model T217SVPUANB8: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407579787
Was able to restore it back to "true stock" and was able to update to KitKat. Kies started working finally. And all was well with the world again.
Oh, and I uninstalled Kies immediately after I was done with that POS software. :silly:
Hopefully this will help the I dunno the two other people that still have one of these that they received for free from Sprint.
Ok bricked my Metro GS4 the first time I tried to root, did the un-root and it worked fine, except the wifi will not turn on, I installed TM 4.4.2.
I rooted it with towelroot so it is rooted, I have read that a factory reset worked for some people where their wifi was frosted out, but my question is,
1. Do I need to worry about that since I am wanting to install custom roms, is the wifi just a problem in the rom I used to flash it to, or something else that will be wrong in any rom I use?
2. If I do the factory reset, does this remove root access?

1. You should make sure everything works before flashing any ROMs. You should consider using Odin to return to complete stock, then check wifi before moving forward. Then never flash any stock based ROMs with later version OS than your modem and bootloader or you will again have wifi problems.
2. Factory Data reset does not remove root. It does remove all other user data and downloaded apps as well as things stored on internal storage so back everything up to a computer first.
You stated
"Then never flash any stock based ROMs with later version OS than your modem and bootloader or you will again have wifi problems."
I not sure if I understand, "stock based" I think I used a stock, out of the box, backup, for my un-bricking, that is a 4.4.2
How do I know if they are a later versions OS of my modem and bootloader? I see one here on XDA that is "Stock/Base" that is 4.4.4, but don't know if it is later OS or not.
Factory reset did not fix wifi, and I had backed up with Titanium, but once it restarted titanium cannot find the backup on SD card, so I guess I don't know how to do that either.
Got it going, flashed it to 4.4.4 NH7, and Titanium worked great, I did the backup and then copied them to the SD card, not sure why I can't save them straight to the SD card, but this way worked.
Got your wifi back?
Pp.
Yes got the wifi going
The update showed up on my phone and so I updated it after unrooting my phone, removing lucky patcher, freedom, sd booster, and so on. After downloading the update, phone rebooted showed it was updating then Error. Rebooted the phone then the update was no longer there, tried using System update but to no avail.
My question is.. how do I fix this for me to be able to update to the latest?
I'm getting a similar problem. However instead of doing what you did to unroot and such, I flashed the 2.17 via their recovery and now I don't get the prompt for 2.18 update at all.
Its confusing as to why its acting like this :/
I already removed all root applications and unrooted the phone then did a factory reset but afterwards it put me to one of its old build and wont freakin update anymore.. Any help regarding this would be very much appreciated..
I am open to rooting and manually flashing the latest build.. Problem is, I was a Sony user whom just switched to zenfone.. So i have no idea how to or what to flash on our zenfone 2..
