NANDROID error

Okay, I used the toolkit to NANDROID backup, 3x 5 minutes apart to be safe. Now that I want to go back after flashing a rom that is force closing eafh restore is throwing an error from the beginning using CWM. Im wanting the stock kernel and rom.
I am aware this was probably user error, nevertheless I need a few pointers.

First pointer post in the right section and answer use Odin to restore back to factory and possibly restart...

3 what backups 5 minutes apart. IF so why you only need to make one at a time

The title to my post is NANDROID ERROR.... And I clearly stated made 3 backups 5 minutes apart to be safe. You are making this entirely to difficult.

No dude you only made it more complicated by making 3 backups. If you want to be a butthole. Help yourself. Your doing so well so far

Delete my backups and try again? How will that work with NO Nandroid backups to restore from? This is like going into the tmo store for technical assistance.

Yes, that is stock rom and CWM is optional. Follow OP instruction you be fine .
Edit: if you plan to flash custom rom , I recommend use CWM which easy way to do backup/ restore/ flash ...etc

Stock kernel no recovery, (use Twrp its better and easier to install)download goo. I'm from market . Then click settings install open recovery script..... self installs root recovery

You ever use twrp... you know twrp can backup your efs in recovery

Yes, I use Twrp with N8013. But if I'm plan to flashing all time I use CWM which is very easy to use and if I want for warranty all I do restore to stock. Toolkit , Twrp ,CWM are same depend on your experience and your taste.

Phone Backup

Hey folks,
Is there a way to back up my phone and have it on my computer harddrive in its entirety (Pictures, messages, settings) if its rooted?
I'm looking for a similar way to the blackberry back ups just incase something happens to my phone - lose/damage.

There may be an app but I don't use one.
Nandroid and copy internal and external sd contents to your computer.

have u tried the Samsumg Kies software yet? its does the thing u listed.

I heard this wont work on rooted phones though, is this not true?

This is solid advice, but it's my personal opinion that Kies is garbage. Just like BBDM.

I too dislike Kies but am looking for an alternate to BBDM as it did the job quite well.
So are there no alternatives to a "full" backup method like this for rooted phones?

You can make a complete bit for bit backup using a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP. I use CWM and keep a backup on my PC and my extsd card.

Yeah, I just did a backup with TWRP last night. It's easy - you just need to install "Goo manager" from the Play Store and go to the menu and do "install recovery script".
Once you have that, you can boot into recovery and do a backup - once you have the backup, you can move/copy it to your computer HDD.

Optimus G Pro camera

Somebody in the G Pro forum was kind enough to give me the G Pro's camera and gallery .apks. Now I need to know how to install it. Im assuming ill need something like Root Explorer?

To install you need a root explorer app
Then you copy both files to the system/app folder...
Fix permissions and see what happens...
Make sure you make a back up just in case it breaks something...

Im having trouble unlocking my bootloader. I probably shouldnt try this until it's unlocked and I get a custom recovery right?

Yeah. I wouldn't do anything until you unlock and have twrp and make a backup. Have you tried the freegee app?

I don't think anyone's experienced a hard brick from free gee. But anything you do is at your own risk obviously. There are a lot of helpful people here and on the optimus g IRC so chances are whatever you do can be fixed. In any case good luck.

How do I recover from the softbrick?

Well I tried installing the apks but no luck... Couldn't get them to install...

lgnpst in the worst case scenario.
just make sure you have a good backup though and that frequently does the trick.

Well I copied them into my system/app folder, fixed permissions, and nothing. Also tried deleting the JB camera and doing the same process to install the LG pro camera and nothing. Haven't tried it on a stock rom though. I'm on beanstalk currently.

that i'm aware of, there is no option.
use freegee and unlock. it's painless and fast with no reported softbricks to my knowledge

Delete old backups

Is there a way to delete my old rom backups? They're just taking up space and I'm never gonna go back to em.

If you are using TWRP then you click on restore and then click on the backup you want to delete and press delete backup.

A few questions after rooting

To get into fastboot - Vol Up, Power
To get into TWRP - Vol Down x2, Power
What do I need to use to uninstall apps I dont want? Going into something like Google Books and all I see is "Uninstall updates". Do I use something like Titanium Backup to do this?

Ok, more pressing issue now..
Was attempting to disable the camera shutter sound via editing the build.prop file. First round didnt work. I was changing the permissions of the System folder to rw-r-r from whatever it was set to as default. Using Root Browser. I checked the boxes I wanted, then hit back. Phone froze up, I hit power to see what that would do. Now the phone just boots into TWRP...
Im guessing I messed something up. Please help.

How do I do a factory reset from TWRP? Or is that something more involved than Im thinking?

Since I was messing with permissions when things went south, would the "fix permissions" option be a possible solution?

To do a factory reset just go to wipe menu... You can try to fix permissions it won't hurt

Possibly. When you mess with the build prop, and goof, it usually won't boot. You should have made a back up. Then if no boot, then just restore.

Factory reset didnt help at all. Nor did Fix permissions.
Looking into things, it looks like I can get a ZIP of whatever ROM I want and use SDK to get it onto my SD card and then just Install that ROM which should solve the issue?

Another option as partimus said.... In TWRP go to wipe, then factory reset.

As long as you have TWRP, if there's not a rom on SD, then yes, you can adb sideload a ROM and install it.

OK, I have the SDK downloaded. Do I simply go to the CMD window to use the "adb sideload <zip name> command? I see the gist of the instructions in the Softbrick thread, but I feel there are some extra details missing.

You need to install adb. Google it, lots of install threads on it.
