Hey all! I just wanted to make a thread if anyone found any other tweaks in the ##data# (##3282% in dialer) menu and if so what tweaks did you make to help make whatever better? Cause right now the only tweak I made was to increase my 3G speed by going into the menu "Others" then going into the menu "Multimedia" and changing the HTTPD Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0 and the port to 0. So if anyone else made any tweaks to help out their internet or voice in the menus then please let me know since I'm very interested in this menu.
How did that increase your 3G speed. What is bit now compared to before?

Mine went up about 1.8x for download and about 1.2x for upload. I used this trick when I had an EVO 3D and it works basically on any phone. Here is the link to the thread about it on the EVO 4G forums. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922978
I do remember that from a while back with my HTC evo and it worked out well for me thanks I totally forgot about that trick

{ROOT REQUIRED} Another way I like to increase my data speeds even further along with the dialer option is to download this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=provision.netspeed.optimizer&hl=en
Select the drop down menu and select "Max Speed (Low Battery)" then tap "Apply tweak". then reboot after prompted.
Once booted up go back into the app and you'll notice the changes next to "Current Set". It should also show NORMAL next to the set numbers meaning the tweaks will focus both on download and upload speeds equally but most of us favor download speeds so to change this so that our data network can focus more on download speeds you'll need to edit a single line in your build prop.
Go into your root browser, mount it as r/w then navigate to your /system directory and open up the build.prop file using a text editor.
Locate this line
ro.ril.hsxpa=
The value should be set at 2.
All you need to do is change that 2 to 1
Save the changes and reboot!
If for whatever reason you prefer better upload speeds then change the value to 3.
Keep in mind it may not have drastic changes but you should notice a slight increase in speeds at the least.
please let me know if this gives you even better results.

Download "Get My MSL" from the Play Store.
Go into app and select to get your MSL.
Once the error comes up exit the app and go into your dialer.
Enter ##DATA# and it will ask for your MSL.
Just enter any single digit 6x. Ignore the message of entering an invalid code.
Exit the dialer and go back to the app and it should now give you your code!

You need to be on a stock rom to do this. Or just plain stock dialer. Forget which one there may be one way to get into this interface though while using a different ROM though. Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut (QuickShortcutMaker) from the Play Store and make sure you are on activities. It will list all activities each application on your phone can do and basically start each specific activity to see what it does and make a shortcut of it on your home screen. So that menu may be in there under the Phone part of the activities list but I haven't found it yet.

it's set that way for ALL phones/carriers on gtalk. the only way to remove the restriction is to edit the android.gsf file in sqlite, but as far as i've searched the normal files to edit aren't on our SGS3.

Does anyone know if gtalk_vc_wifi_only is in a different location on Verizon phones?
When I filter for gtalk in com.google.android.gsf > gservices.db > main
I have about twenty records come up, but nothing resembling the wifi only setting.
This is great information. Thanks!
However, if I'm on mobile data and I'm trying video chatting with someone who is on their PC, it starts but then ends shortly after that and my friend's PC displays an error in their talk window that says there was a "problem with our servers". It happens on Chrome and IE. On my phone, it says that they ended the chat. On the other hand, if I'm on wifi, it works fine. Has anybody run into this problem?

As the tittle suggests this is a How-To in increasing the SMS/Hour Limit.
Some of you while sending a text might have had the following message pop-up.
View attachment 1262984
Sure you can simply click "Allow" but isn't doing that for every text message you send for the next hour frustrating?
Well, through a few hours browsing the Web and with the help of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626771 I was able to increase the limit, thus keeping the message from popping up.
There are two methods of doing this. One requires a couple of apps, the other is done using ADB.
Remember you MUST be rooted for this to work.
The Steps
Required Apps: Root Explorer, SQLite Editor, BusyBox installed, Update your SuperUser binaries.
For some reason people get the I/O Disk Error. I'm not sure what this is. Try wiping cache and davlik cache. As well as wiping the SQLite Editor data. I have never gotten this error.
Also people have been having issues with the values not sticking. Again I do not know why. I'm sorry. It also appears that this only works on 4.1 not 4.2. You can test it out it might work for you.
Also check out this thread featuring freezas method. That might work for you if this hasn't.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35652750
1. Open up Root Explorer
2. Navigate to /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db (It'll ask you if you want to open the database with SQLite or with the internal viewer, choose SQLite)
3. Open the secure table
4. Hit the menu key and select New Record
5. Under name type in sms_outgoing_check_max_count
6. Under the value type in whatever you'd like, I did 9999
7. Hit Save
8. Go back once and select the table system
9. Repeat steps 4-7
10. Now navigate to /data/data/com.google.android.gsf/databases/gservices.db
11. Open the table main
12. Repeat steps 4-7.
13. Back out the home screen and reboot.
If you have SDK installed on computer, it might be easier to run the commands from there. That way you could copy and paste the commands.
ADB Method.
1.Open Command Terminal
2. Type in adb shell hit enter
3. Type in su hit enter
4. Type in sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db hit enter
5. Type in INSERT INTO secure (name, value) VALUES('sms_outgoing_check_max_count’, 9999); hit enter
6. Type in INSERT INTO system (name, value) VALUES('sms_outgoing_check_max_count’, 9999); hit enter
7. Type in .exit hit enter (you should now see a hash tag again instead of sqlite>. If not conitune typing in .exit and hitting enter until you are)
8. Type in sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.gsf/databases/gservices.db
9. Type in INSERT INTO main (name, value) VALUES('sms_outgoing_check_max_count’, 9999); hit enter
10. Again exit back to where the command line has a hashtag
11. Type in reboot and hit enter.

Do you have a method for increasing the recipient limit to more than 10 people on stock messaging app? I have to use Handcent to circumvent this, which works fine, just curious about the increase 10 recipient limit. Seems incredibly lame its capped at 10. Koreans must not have families over 10 people?
I have a program called SMS contest winner.... basically I try to win contests held by my local radio station... example one time its like text point to 62582 and be entered to win a trip to cedar point. Enter as often as you like. So I send out 50 or 60 thousand giving me better odds.. of course you can only win once every 6 months here so its not like I'm abusing the rules. I typically wait til its something I want to go to... last tickets won a few months back was 2 tickets to foo fighters using 47k texts to get the job done

That only works if the swear word is recognized as a misspelling. For instance sexy won't swipe but since it isn't a misspelled word so manually typing it doesn't give an option to save.

This should work with Sprint users as well as those trying to flash it to another carrier. Sprint tries to route streaming media such as Youtube and Pandora through their own servers. This bypasses that. Please let me know if you have issues.
The great thing about this application is that it DOES NOT require the SPC to be punched in vs if you tried to access this area via ##data#.

May be we need to be on a TW rom to do this change and then get back on an AOSP. Just like the PRL update thing. Just a thought.

If memory serves me correctly, in AOSP you can't access the dialer menus (i.e. ##3282#). If that's the case then this won't work on an AOSP. This app does the same thing if you go into the ##3282# menu and zero out the proxy sever settings. The nice thing is that with this app, you don't need to know what your MSL number is.

Credit for the application goes to MagicalPhones. He told me to post this.

I see nothing but "NONE" in all my categories after picking Samsung Tools from this app. I don't have anything else. Are we supposed to see other settings?
This does the same thing as ##3282# /edit/others/multimedia and removing the proxies.
What do I change everything to?

Wow nice. For some reason my job has youtube blocked. But with youtube app now it allows me to view videos. I'm guessing it had something to do with that proxy.

CXENTE found away to activate it but we were unable to find what he found in SQ editor >>>>> I finally did after filtering it in sq editor... all E980 phones will be different .... Read below
You need to try and activate the hot spot initially in the user interface settings, once it rejects to turn on the hotspot. Do the following :
VVV
***** > in sqlite editor.. goto com.android.provider.settings >> then system >> then settings.db>> then PRESS UR BOTTOM BUTTON, >> SELECT FILTER, >>>PRESS THE DROP DOWN SECTION, >>>SELECT NAME >>> AND TYPE TETHER>>> you'll then see.. "tether_entitlement_check_state" goto the value and edit to 0 .. it will save ..then reboot phone ...give some thanks to CXENTE !!!!!!!! ooo me too if ya want lol I TESTED THIS AT WORK MY BUDDY CONNECTED TO MY PHONE ... Got some screen shots lol

It should be noted that "tether_entitlement_check_state" didn't appear for me until I actually attempted to enable mobile hotspot in settings. After I did that, "tether_entitlement_check_state" appeared and I was able to edit the value to zero.

Not for me , wouldnt keep the check mark in until i change it in sqlite editor or are u saying initially u didnt try to activate in UI settings and couldnt see "tether_entitlement_check_state" until you did try ?
Ill add that in also then just incase
Ok , i added that part. I cant say for sure that you dont need to since i was soo tempted to try it out when i got the phone so i was reject a couple times before changing in SQlite Editor :good:

Yeah, the line "tether_entitlement_check_state" wasn't there until I actually tried to enable mobile hotspot in the settings menu. After I was denied the ability to tether and prompted to contact at&t (yeah right), I went back and looked for the above line again (using SQlite) and it was there.
I went through SQlite first and confirmed the tether_entitlement_check_state didn't exist. After attempting to enable tethering and getting the error message, I went back in and was able to find and change tether_entitlement_check_state from 1 to 0. Tethering is working as expected now.
Gotcha well glad there is a work around for the hotspot deff a nice + ....just need the bootloader unlocked now lol !!
