Yeah. Same here.
LT15i .58 is present. But original stock LT18i .58 seems absent.

Just use Wotan, it's free.
You could also downgrade to .42 firmware and root.

Hi there. I am new to Arc S. Why not go back to the latest available FW for the Arc S. Or are there no bugfixes applied with .58?

When your BL is locked, you could also use PCC, but idk what is the latest available firmware in your country (.42, .58 or .62).
If it's not .62, you could also use PCC to flash the firmware and then root using zergRush.
And btw, I don't see much difference between .42, .58 or .62 (correct if there's something important).

Do you mean www.wotanserver.com?

I am on .62 which is my latest (to the best of my knowledge)
I just want to root. Nothing else. I most definately don't want to unlock the BL.
I read that the zergRush exploit was patched in .62. So i too was looking for the previous version of my FW (how/where can i check what my last FW should have been?)
So in short: i am looking for the latest original SE FW with the exploit present. And i should be flashable through flashtools as PCC is no use to me since it will deploy .62 FW.
Is wotan the place to be?
Cheers

I've never used Wotan, so I can't tell.

The site is definitely not offline, if you try to ping it, you get a request.
Maybe they just have a overcapacity or something else.
Keep looking a eye on it.

So back to basic question but adjusted to new situation :
Where to download the original international version of .42 FW for the LT18i?
It can be found for the LT15i but i cant seem to find the .42 one for LT18i, at least not here on xda.
Cheers.
Look here or flash SEMC .42 firmware from FXP for CM7 here.

I recommend you flash the GB rom, since it is fast. ICS is laggy. I don't think the buyer would be satisfied if it lagged

Yes but then when the buyer connects the phone to a pc, it will prompt him to install pc companion. Then it will prompt him to install ICS. So then, he will have a choice . But if it came with ICS and he didn't like it, it will be harder to downgrade to GB in that case. So better flash the stock GB

I did everything... All done.. Thank you all guys
I installed this firmware: Official ICS update Arc&Arc-S 4.1.B.0.431
And then relocked bootloader...
But now I have notification: system update available 4.1.B.0.587 , should I update or not? I read somewhere on xda that users were reporting bricked phones after OTA updates... because of unlocked bootloader (they said).. And I don't want that next user to click on it and then have a bricked phone, and I can't just hide the notification... if they do factory rest , the notification will pop up...
so now is it ok to update or not? or if you can link me to 4.1.B.0.587 firmware to install it...

I need to clear some thing for you, rooting does not give you access to download apps free from Google Play. So you should remember that also. I am saying this because you said so-

For that, you have to flash a pre rooted rom using flash tool.... If you are planning on upgrading to ICS firmware, no need of flashing pre - rooted rom.. Every ICS firmware on Xperia S can be rooted easily (1 minute work).. So update you phone using PC companion or flashtool and then root it...

You can always root your device. You will still receive OTA (over the air) updates. I highly recommend to root your xperia S, because it is very easy and I can't name a negative thing about it. To root your .55 firmware, search in the android development thread for a topic about rooting this specific firmware. It's called New root method or something like that. I'm on my mobile now so I can't give you a link.
As for bootloader: yes, you can unlock it. I personally don't recommend it, (a lot of others will), because you won't be able to go back to normal and I find it very difficult to do. There are about 2-3 ROMs that can be installed with a locked bootloader. I also have a locked one and used Xzxperience 2 for quite a time.
Good luck with rooting (and unlocking?) and welcome to the forums

don't worry about the warranty, u can re-lock your boot loader any time and flash it with .55 and no one will know that u had rooted your phone and u can do the official updates with OTA or PC companion or from service center.
