I rooted and installed CWM. I wanted a ROM copy to save all my data before I dive in any deeper. As I started it and it rebooted to Samsung GALAXY Note II screen and began cycling there. The boot to install or repair, remove battery methods or anything else I tried will not work or display anything but the Samsung screen..
Although I have not tried, I may be able to flash stock ROM with ODIN but I really want to save my data if possible.
Can anyone help me? Thanks!
Check out the galaxy note root kit in the dev section. That has all kinds of great stuff if you can get into download mode.
Have you tried, from off state, power button+ home button+ volume up at the same time?

Did you try a factory reset? It may fix the problem for you... just boot back into recovery just as you did with the back up.

I had this problem when I first got this phone, and I've had it on a few warranty exchanges as well. I would just boot into recovery and do a factory reset and that would fix the problem

So I'm running an unlocked rogers galaxy note 2 I1737M. I was using clean rom 3.3 then today it just crashed everything. I tried to reboot to recovery and well it got stuck in a boot loop there. This was at work so now several hours later I am sitting here trying to reset set my phone. I have tried odin to restore to the stock files, hell I would be happy with just that. I used the imiage found in the refrence thread of the android develpment. any tips? links? help of any kind? Anything will be greatly apreceated.
worst part is I got it yesterday.
EDIT: I thought I should add that I am using odin v1.85 and that I am unable to get the phone to boot into anysort of recovery, ok I did once but can't get it to do it again. Not even stock.

I'm unable to boot into the recovery, custom or stock. It displays the samsung logo then once again reboots itself......
Had the same issue.
What kernel were u on.
Only fix I founfd that didn't wipe data was ro download CWM recovery on a pc and place with odin. Boot into download mode by holding volume down, home and power. Might take a few tries between boot loops.

I was using Stock LJ2 kernel CMW-flashable. After several hours of fighting with TWRP I was able to install CWM using odin and got my self out it looks like. The only thing with CWM is that data wipe seems to crash the recovery so I hope this dirty install of the rom I had saved on their works just fine.
I had installed CM 10.1 successfully and everything was fine. The I installed Perseus Kernel from ROM Manager and it booted into Recovery (CWM) and installed Perseus without a problem, then when rebooting I got stuck on the screen "Samsung GALAXY Note II". I've tried to press the Vol-, Vol+ and Vol-, Home, remove Battery, etc, to try to get into Recovery or Download mode but nothing, I always get the same screen "Samsung GALAXY Note II". Please an help or advice on how to get into Recovery or Download mode, what should I do?.
NOTE: I already removed the SD Card and SIM Card.
Thanks a lot

Delete - you tried a battery pull and download mode. So I don't know what else to try. I know the captivate had a jig to get to download mode. I don't know if such a thing exists for the note 2

Agreed with above pull the battery keep it out then hold the volume down and connect it to your computer.

I did try the removing the battery but did not work the first time, probably did not fully pressed Vol+ and Vol-, now it's working fine. Thanks a lot.
What Kernel should I use?, I think the problem was related to incompatibility between CM 10.1 and Perseus.
Recovery mode:
pull battery
re insert battery
3 button combo (hold volume up + home + power)
hold until splash screen then release
1. You posting in the wrong section son.
2. Isn't Perseus kernel for TW ROMs?

Yes Perseus is for TW. That's the mistake of this why it happened. Didn't read before flashing things.

This is what I was about to say. I don't think that Perseus will work with anything but TouchWiz ROMs, so that is more than likely your problem. Just reflash CM10.1 and you should be able to boot.
That's the thing. He's trying to get into recovery mode which he is unable to do at the moment.

If all else fails here's your last shot.
Check site for vids. I screwed one of my s3 and they resurrected it. It took a while but at least I had my phone back.
Hope you dont need them but if you do better than a brick.

Thanks, now I know that there are two types of ROM, I just installed ForceKernel (OC TO 1,920Mhz) and then run some benchmarks and it's much slower than Perseus, I used to get in Perseus around 7,500 in Quadrant and now I get between 5,500 to 6,500, am I doing something wrong ?
NOTE: I am using SetCPU and the Governor is "pegasusq"
U should just keep the original kernel that comes with the rom...flashing other kernels can hard brick ur phone and you'll have send it in to get repair...

Dose it really matter what your benchmark says?? Common man,,, means nothing

Try hooking up and connect via usb to ur computer. Use the cmd prompt. Adb/adb reboot recovery. See if that works. Shouldn't Need to be jtagged if it's at least booting somewhat. Jtag is for hard bricks. When the phone won't boot AT ALL.

No your not doing anything wrong, CM10 in benchmarks are known not to produce as high of numbers. Benchmarks are only a number. So it appears its fixed, Reporting this thread to the mods to close.

Odion Back to the stock rom!
Can you boot into recovery?
Take battery out of phone then put it back in. At the same time hold the volume up button, home button and the power button, you should feel the phone vibrate and small blue text appear in the upper left side of the screen, let go of all buttons.
Tell me what appears, black background with blue text or grey background with blue text.

I would Odin the stock or root66 just to be safe. We have no clue what was actually done to the phone, so flashing back to stock is really the only way to avoid more potential problems.

I'm having a similar problem. I keep trying to odin back to stock but when its done and I restart it gets stuck on the Samsung logo. My lcd is also broken so the only way I can see what i'm doing is through mhl, making things are much harder to do
You'll have to factory reset. If you can't see the screen, boot to recovery and use adb shell to wipe the /data partition.
Unless someone else has a better idea.

No problem, that's what I wanted anyway
I was trying to reflash the 4.1.2 firmware through ODIN yesterday but I didnt remember the correct way to get into download mode, so I accidentally kept going into recovery. Annoyed by that, when the phone tried to get into recovery mode again, I just pulled out the battery and then correctly got it into download mode. I flashed the firmware but after that it keeps restarting on the samsung logo and shows the android and tries to load the recovery but after that the screen goes black and it keeps restarting. I dont know whats wrong, maybe the recovery has been damaged. Please help me get the phone back to life. Also, another thing to note is that its not even turning on by the normal way of holding the power button, but I have to press the buttons to grow into recovery in order to turn it on, but before even going into recovery, it keeps restarting.

Can someone provide me links to a firmware version for the SGH-T989 less than 4.1.2? And I want the "Three File Firmware" where there are three separate files instead of a single PDA file that would be used in ODIN.

Ok, I flashed 4.0.4 on it and now atleast its going into recovery mode. However, its stuck on the flashing samsung logo and is not in a usable state. Can someone please help me with this?
