I recently installed LiquidSmooth, 2.2RC2.
The GAPPS was FCin'g at least once a day. Now today, I cannot get my calendar to synch. Why i try to manually synch, the GAPPS FCs.
\
I have reinstalled GAPPS that are on the OP for it, but same thing.
Any suggestions?
when you flashed the gapps again, did you wipe cache and dalvik?
as a last resort, i would recommend a full wipe (wipe data, cache, dalvik, format /system) if you didnt when you initially flashed the ROM/gapps.

Yes, I did wipe cache and dalvik. and I dis wipe all, and format system when I first installed. It's been working for several days, with occasional FCs on the GAPPS, but now it just seems hosed.
A bit ago, I wen in and did all of that wiping, and format system, and restored the Nandroid (TWRP) that I created of it when it was working, and still no go.
I'm considering going back to 4.1.1. But I've read that going back from 4.2 to 4.1 is not a good idea. I'm not positive if I'd get some /0 directory issues. But it would seem to me if I wipe everything, even format the sdcard, I should be able to go back.
[EDIT]
Well, I just finished going into settings and doing a Factory Reset. Then installing fresh apps. Calendar working. Who knows what swcrewed it up....
This is crazy...
So it was working for 1 day.
Tonight, I got into my car, and the phone said, and the car too, that the phone was hooked to BT. But in the car, it sayd "No Service". So I tried a call, it made the call, but the person could not hear me.
And...I lost all calendar entries, except for 1 test entry I created yesterday. WTF? This is driving me crazy.
I was about to decide I had some kind of virus. I did a virus scan, and found nothing. Then I installed Lookout, and scanned with it and still found nothing.
I'm also realizing I have music issues. But I'll open another post on that.

Pretty much came out of nowhere today, none of my Google apps work. Everything else works fine. No search, no market, can't even go to Google.com in the browser. On cm7 beta.
Tried factory reset and when I tried to sign in to my Google account it wouldn't let me. Never had this problem and I'm pretty well lost. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Since you tried a factory reset, you obviously don't mind starting fresh. Rather them factory reset, boot to cwm, then wipe cache, dalvik, then factory wipe, THEN re apply your cm7 zip. Then flash gapps. You should be golden then.

I have been happy with my Virtuous ROM but started having some issues. Flashed the XDA Leaked Gingerbread ROM yesterday and immediately had the same issues described with the Google Apps (mail won't work, Google Talk won't work etc etc). Additionally I noticed that my SetCPU app won't open.
So when I flashed the new ROM, I went into CWM, wiped cached, dalvik and factory (although not in that order). I guess I'll try it one more time. I've also heard that wiping 3 times is sometimes necessary. Any other tips or tricks?
I have been running 4.1 for about a week now, last night I had to reboot and after rebooting it wouldn't come back up. I had this issue previously and wiped Dalvik and it would boot, however, not this time. I've tried everything I can think of. Nandroid (4.0.4) restores fail on data, I've tried wiping data, cache, dalvik and trying to install a clean ROM (4.0 and 4.1) to no avail.
Any suggestions? I would really love to get my data off the phone before I have to delete absolutely everything. When I go into mount usb storage, I can't access the phone from my PC...
I don't really know if it's working or not or what is my problem exactly.
I installed CM10, but then I had to reinstall it, I did a wipe cache/factory reset and I wiped the dalvik cache, then flashed the CM10 zip.
When my phone booted I already had Play Store, but I was supposed to install it, and I also had ~1GB internal memory, but I didn't install Data2SD or any script yet (I installed it when I first installed CM10, but isn't it supposed to "disappear" after factor reset?).
I know I should be happy because I don't have to be bothered with installing gapps or Data2SD, it's just weird.
It's weird because you need to wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvick cache, wipe boot, wipe system and i recommend to use superwipetool.

Gapps (Play store) is installed in system partition. Factory restore just wipes the data of additional system apps not the applications. Hence no matter how many times you do a factory reset. It'll stay there. Its not a bug.
And what about the internal memory thing? Is it because of the same reason?

All the apps which are installed in internal memory and sd card should be wiped by now.
Sorry for the update, but i don't get it.
My girlfriend have a Galaxy S with pics, mp3 and everything, custom folder etc... I installed CM10, and before in the recovery mode, i did a wipe data, Dalvik cache, Reset factory several times. Once i installed CM10, i can find exactly the same folder, mp3, pictures etc...
I don't get it.

The internal sdcard of galaxy s is not wiped by wiping data/factory reset. Its on a separate partition.
Okay all the sudden on CFX 4.2.2 I am having weird issues, I converted google search to a user app, then back to a system app, and it would constantly crash, I now try and format the phone ie: wipe date/cache/dalvik and reboot into the ROM, I no longer get a prompt about a gmail account or anything like that and the ROM boots right up with no gmail notifications or anything, and google search still isn't working, why can I not format my phone lol?
I even tried re-flashing the ROM after a full wipe/format and it still is all beyond messed up?
WTH, even after a fresh ROM install with no flash over with GAPPS, it's still on the device like it was never formatted -.- im using CWM 6.0.1.5, i've never had issues with this recovery or anything, now all the sudden it's like GAPPS will not delete from the ROM.
Okay, a different attempt at flashing a completely different ROM then reflashing CFX, reflashing a different ROM got rid of GAPPS, so now im in the process of reflashing CFX to see if that fixed my problem, if it did idk why wiping the ROM itself wouldnt get rid of GAPPS.
Okay that fixed it =S.
I take that back, nope i guess im just screwed lol.
Okay i've come to the conclusion that something is just wrong with the ROM
Did you wipe the System partition before installing the new ROM? When you flash the GApps zip file in recovery, it writes those to System. Therefore, if you just wipe Data, they will still be there. Also, always do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik) when switching to a different ROM.
Hey all,
I've been searching for a while now and decided I should just post my question finally. I have the Galaxy SIII, rooted, and running CM10 stable. For the last 3 months or so, my SMS app, Messaging, has been randomly force closing and crashing. The only way to fix it is by rebooting the phone. I've tried re-flashing the mod 5 times, and even wiped data and done 2 factory resets. Still no luck.
And more recently my "phone" app has been doing it too. It crashes when I open up the dial pad and drops calls randomly and I have to restart my phone for it to work again.
Both of these will happen randomly. Sometimes I can go 4 hours without having to restart my phone, other times I have to restart my phone every 20 minutes. It's really starting to bug me.
Is there an app that's known to cause these crashes? Or is there a possibility that the mod file is corrupt? Thoughts? Questions? Any help is appreciated!!
When you flashed Cm10, did you come from stock or a custom rom? Did you also format /system?
If you made a nandroid while on stock, I would:
Wipe data, cache, dalvik and restore that. Then (assuming you still have Cm10 and gapps zips on your device) I would wipe data and caches again, format /system and flash rom/gapps. Wipe data/cache and reboot.

When I flashed, it was from a previous CM10 ROM that worked fine. I reflashed because one of my apps was getting an "unknown" error, and now this crashing is happening. I don't think I have ever done "format /system". How do I go about that?

To have a completely clean install, you should always:
Wipe data
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik (under advanced)
Format /system (under mounts and storage)
Flash rom
Flash gapps
Wipe data
Reboot
Be sure to have whatever you feel important backed up as this will wipe your system. Make a nandroid first if you don't already have one

Thanks!! I'll try it tonight and post with the results tomorrow. Last time I flashed it took 2 days until the problems arose again.

There shouldn't be any issues if you have flashed correctly. Many users have also noted that a custom rom performs better when returning to stock and then flashing the new rom via the above procedures. Feel free to pm me your results
What the???

I can't see this is a good thing, but I'm a noob.
You're saying after installing the new ROM and apps (Flash rom Flash gapps), you then go back into CWM and select 'wipe data/factory reset'??
Again, I'm a noob and maybe I'm reading this wrong!
Doing a wipe again right after installing a new ROM sounds so wrong to me.
What would that do?

This step (step 7 in your list) isn't necessary.
When in doubt, follow the directions in the OP of the rom you are trying to flash, usually can't go wrong.
