Kitsound S3 Dock - Galaxy S III Accessories

Hi everyone, I bought the Kitsound S3 and it looks class and is a very handy way for me to charge my phone at work, only issue I have is that the audio is rubbish when put through the dock with my headphones in the back. Does anyone else have this dock and what is their audio quality like though the dock? Also does anyone else use audio out via the USB and is this where the audio turns crap? I'm hoping that mine is faulty because this it a big issue if they all have this problem. Thanks in advance for all reply's.

[Q] Loud "pops" when using the Samsung vehicle dock

Hi there.
I just recently bought my SGSII, and even more recently received the Samsung vehicle dock/holder with charger and line out. It seems like a quality unit, and it sounds very well when playing music etc, but there is a huge annoyance: Every time android initializes some sound, whether it be when the music player plays the first song, the voice in the google navigation program, or a system sound, a loud "popping" sound can be heard. I tried turning all system sounds off, but it's very annoying when using the navigation program. Has anyone had this same problem?
Other than this, the output from the unit is loud and clear (no volume issues), and there is not much background noise. I considered the wiring on my 2008 VW touran, but that should be good. I also tried it on another car (Jeep with an aftermarket stereo). I have used an iPhone with a similar style dock (ie one that splits the USB/dock connector to a charger and aux) without these issues earlier.
So, has anyone else experienced the same problem, or should there be no pops? Could it be a defective unit? Otherwise, could it be due to some bug in the OS? I have the latest official build from Kies. (2.3.5, I9100XXKI4, GINGERBREAD.XWKI8).
Thanks in advance.
I have a Alpine indash monitor and when I use the USB connection and hook up my phone and mount the storage ( to play music over my stereo) it starts to play a loud popping noise till it finds all the music files on my phone. For example if I have 50 songs it pops 50 times. Really really annoying cause I I hear is popping noises before my music starts to play

So is this with the USB cable straight to the GS2 or thru the vehicle dock's USB?
Samsung Norway just got back to me after having tested their own devices, and it seems they also had the same problem. So they just told me that that's the way this thing works. Which is very strange, I can't imagine they don't get more complains. Surely, noone wants ear wrecking noise before any message from the navigation app or music player?
Are there no fellow vehicle dock users out there who can confirm if this is normal?
I'm using the desk dock and I have the same problem, never found a solution, I tried several roms and kernels

Thanks for your reply. Seems very odd, almost as if there is some firmware/software problem, something emitting an audio signal that shouldn't be there. Let me see, wasn't there a thread about making your own usb to charge/audio out here...
I received the car dock the other day and have encountered the same problem. Any time the android system "does" something other than just playing the music, terrible loud pops occur.
Between this and the fact that the call audio is not routed through the dock's 3.5" jack has me considering returning it! I wish this fact was better explained in the Samsung literature on the dock.
I also considered returning the unit, but I think it might be a software flaw. At least, it should be possible to make a software workaround (drivers/firmware) for this, as it seems to be caused by audio initialization in the phone. Is this something for the developers? Do any of you have experience with same kinds of accessories with other brands using a micro USB connector as dock?
this has got to be a bad ground. the only time i get a pop is when i place/remove the phone from my dock or plug/unplug the usb power and i blame that on a bad ground for the usb adapter in my cigarette lighter.
if it doesnt pop while off usb power than its the ground plain and simple
edit: sorry for hijacking this thread but could you post a screen shot of the car home or desk home app?
I can't imagine this being due to a bad ground. Its a 3 years old car, and i've also tested the unit in a brand new Citroen c5 with the exact same pops. In addition the Norwegian Samsung people say its the same with their units. Out of curiosity, what firmware are you running on yours? I'll see if I can arrange a screenshot.

Problem with Galaxy Note Official Car Holder Audio Output?

Hi,
I just bought an official car holder for my Note and plugged the charger + 3.5mm audio jack in to my radio, my problem is that the car holder does send my music nor navigation sound nor phone calls through the car speakers, instead it goes on the Note's speaker and i don't want that! Anyone have a solution?
I had the same problem, go to Settings -> Dock and enable "Audio output mode".
I find the sound quality to be very good.
Thanks a lot!! My previous sgs 2 worked from the start thats why i didnt know what whas going on

Hi, I've had this dock a few weeks now and I think it's almost perfect. It has excellent build quality and the ease and power of the suction cup is fantastic.
My only gripe is when I set the phone to external mode for the audio it works great with music and videos, even ringtones and notifications but calls only come out of the speaker or the phone itself as opposed to the car stereo system as would be ideal.
Does anyone know how to fix this as it makes receiving and making calls almost impossible and that's one of the main reasons I bought the dock in the first place.
Just want to bump this thread, really hoping someone can help me out

3.5mm Headphone jack not registering...

I have a Sprint Galaxy Nexus running CNA 3.4.1. I've only used the headphone jack maybe twice before to listen to music and everything worked just as it should. Recently however, i tried plugging in some regular headphones and when i played my music it came out the speakers. So i tried a few different headphones and some speakers and still the same problem. The little headphone icon that usually shows up in the status bar doesn't show up. I looked inside the 3.5mm jack and its clean, no lint, bent wires, anything. But no matter what i do i can't seem to get any headset to work. I'm forced to use my bluetooth adapter for my speakers.
This isn't a grave issue as i may rarely use headphones at all. But knowing that option isn't there anymore is just an inconvenience.
Any help appreciated. No rush. Just wondering if anyone else ran into this problem and knows how to fix it.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Turns out after trying to play music through my bluetooth adapter it doesn't work. Bluetooth is connected, my speakers are hooked up, and the music is playing on my phone. Just no sound at all. This is a big deal! It's as if my phone won't play audio through anything but the internal speaker.
Again any help is appreciated.

Return to stock ROM to see if that fixes the problems. If not, it's likely a hw issue that headphones aren't detected.

I did that and still did not recognize it. Feels like my only option left is to open the phone and see if something was disconnected or get a new one.

bad audio through car stereo

Hey all,
For some reason unbeknownst to me whenever i plug in my a100 to my Cadillacs stock tape adapter it sounds very distant. Like a small radio sitting on a shelf at the other end of a warehouse is the best way i can describe it. When hooked up to my headphones it sounds amazing but when i use the tape adapter it sounds horrible. Both mine and my GF's phones sound fine but the tablets sound is borderline unbearable. Ive also tried different media players and Pandora with the same result. Also i dont have it charging so im pretty sure its not cross interference. If it were it would pop and sound scratchy witch it doesn't the audio is clear, but like i said sounds really distant. Plz any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

The only thing I can tell you is play around with the jack once it is in the tablet. I know my headphone jack is long and if I push it all the way in it sounds distant like that. I have to pull it out a hair (yes only that much) and it works fine..... But a tiny bump and it sounds bad..... Headphones e jjacck was defective on my acerr when I got it. Sent it in and it works but is crap. I use my infuse for music anyway. That Wolfson DAC sound board with voodoo..... Amazing.

i suggest to get a new radio with a mini jack on the front they are less than 50 bucks. and if you shop around you can find one that will play mp3 cds that hold like 250+ songs depending on the compresion
I had the same problem in my Mercedes. Go into Settings and turn off the dolby mobile and give it another try. It worked for me. I'm using an A2DP bluetooth adapter in my aux port as well, so there were no physical issues causing my problems.
You could try to up the gain in audio settings if your using power amp

Car Dock Recommendations

I've seen the iBolt that VZW sells and have heard good and bad things about it. Does anyone else have recommendations? I usually drive with my phone horizontal so I can use nav if necessary.

I use the basic Samsung universal case with car home ultra app. It does the job. The camera still works and I have a shortcut for it just in case. The Samsung dock works good with any case too. Works with my defender and my powerskin which has the added thickness of an additional battery. Yea I have to plug both power and aux cables but I just heard too many bad things about the iBolt.

I got the iBolt last week. I haven't found anything wrong with it. The USB audio sounds much more balanced than using the headphone jack. The only annoyance is that the ICS ROM doesn't route phone calls through the USB audio, but that's not the iBolt's fault. I've heard that the latest CM10 now has support for both USB audio and USB phone calls.
I have an ibolt and I really like it. Switched from the infuse.
