[MOD] Custom Shutdown QMG Animations [Deviant Development] 4-24-13 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Another Deviant Development Production
Custom Shutdown QMG File Animations With Sound!
by evil1art
I got tired of not seeing any custom shutdown QMG animations for the s3 or any newer Samsung at all!
So I took matters into my own hands! (evil style)
-These will work on any Samsung with 720x1280 res-
This is not a request page!
I will update with new animations as time permits
Do not redistribute without my permission!
Devs wanting to use them in your roms just shoot me a pm
These QMG files take alot of time and effort to make right, so please be patient!
I did not create the images just resized and converted them and added some evil touches!
Flash these like any other Mod or Theme etc.
Download Animation
Reboot into Recovery
Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache
Flash Zip
Reboot & Enjoy!
*Yoda with lightsaber*
-DOWNLOAD-
Keep checking back for future updates!!!

take this one too

Thanks you SO much for this.

Thanks for this. Is it supposed to work on the new mc2 update? I flashed it after clearing cache and davik but it only changed the sound. The sprint animation is still there.

Thanks for your response. I tried the flash again adding fix permissions before reboot and got the same results. No jedi.

Good news. I now have jedi. I first tried deleting shutdown.qmg and renaming spr_shutdown.qmg to shutdown.qmg. That gave me no animation and no sound. I then reflashed your mod and it worked. Thanks for your help.

I have Sprint animations but I have no video folder and can't find the qmg files to delete

Did you put the lib file in the lib folder and then app in /system/app then reboot? That's how I did it. If I were you I would just copy the libdraw file and put it in /system/lib using a root explorer. That should fix it hopefully

OK make sure you have a root explorer with read and write capabilities. If you go to the very top file after that you'll see a folder called system. In the system folder will be a lib folder. Copy the lib and paste it there. Then copy seclauncher2.apk to the app folder that's inside the system folder as well. Let me know if you got it. Then reboot.

*[HOW TO] * Change Bootanimations in 2 steps

With the huge help of Truth77, we figured it out.
Follow instructions to the letter. You take all risk, ya da ya da.
Tested and works on:
Thunder Jelly
Hybrid Rom
1. Download this file http://db.tt/ocm6u4IE
If your download comes through with a text extension, remove it. It does on some phones depending on your file browser. There should be be extent ion showing after you paste it.
Put it back if your bootanimation doesn't work.
2. Go into system/bin. Find the Samsungani file and rename it to Samsungani bak
3. Paste the new file in
4. Set permission to
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5. Set owner to
6. Place any regular boot animation.zip in system/media.
7. Set permission to
Reboot
That's it
Even if you mess up permission, the phone will boot. Just no animation
No deleting those other files.
Please leave feedback if it works for you and what rom.

Excellent
Works great on GNote 2 ATT 4.1.2 with perseus kernal and clean rom no conflicting issues what so ever very happy, thanks a million
Caused a boot-loop for me on Novella 1.1 (4.1.2) + Perseus Kernel 32.1 on Galaxy Note 2 AT&T.
After using Teamwin Recovery to rename the file to put the old file back in its place the phone booted up fine, but was extremely sluggish. Apps had trouble loading if at all took seconds to swipe between screens etc. Let the phone rest for 5 minutes, could not get the phone to wake again. Phone was still on due to notification light blinking. Had to remove battery to get it to reset. Upon resetting phone started boot-looping again for about a minute before finally booting up normally. Had to remove battery yet again to get the phone to shut off.
Restoring back to Nandroid backup before the changes were made fixed the issues completely.
Running Novella UCMA4 with Perseus-alpha33 and the method worked flawlessly once again. Thanks once again!:victory:
Worked flawlessly on USCC variant running stock rom. Thanks for this guide

Lets keep this short and sweet. I threw this together using LoserSkater's very easy to follow guide that he posted last year. With the inspiration from Old and Slow getting this to work again on Verizon. Now this is 100% fully functional and should work for any ATT or tmobile device. And lastly thanks to @lowrider262 for the awesome customizable mms.apk from here that makes this return oh so sweet.
If you experience any FCs or issues my first suggestion is to clear your messages. To do so open your favorite root browser and go to here from the root folder "data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases" and remove the following 3 files completely. (mmssms.db, mmssms.db-shm, and mmssms.db-wal)
Thanks to Alex9090 for testing this out on tmobile and finding out it works there flawlessly.

Am I missing something simple? Flashed a few times with no change. Replaced mms.apk in the zip with the one posted and nothing changed. And when I try to rename or overwrite MMS.apk in system/apps through es file explorer I get errors saying I can't.

Not sure whats going on here but the mms.apk posted is the one in the zip. All you should have to do is flash the zip then you can go and remove the stock messaging apk. You should see 2 messaging apps, one green and one blue. The blue one is AOSP Mms. Only other thing I suggest is clearing your messages and the other step I posted in red in the OP might help any force closes for the app.

Same here, dirty flashing rom wouldn't even fix it. Had to restore a backup.

Copied this over my bootanimation.zip and when I rebooted it showed Google logo then black screen all the way till boot and screen stayed black but I could head the volume adjust sound.

same thing for me ...
This worked fine for me once I put it in system/media and set the correct permissions

I can't believe how stupid I can be sometimes. Totally forgot the permissions. :facepalm:
*EDIT* Even with current permission I still get black screen. I can hear my volume adjust, my screen won't "shut off" cause I can hit the power button and right afterwards hear the volume adjust tone.

I installed this and it's definitely not the right boot animation. All I see is the blue word "android" with a reflection scrolling across it.

It definitely works, been using it over a week. Find a flashable boot animation zip, unpack it and replace the old boot animation with this one. Flash and enjoy
Thanks OP for this. Best boot animation next to the original galaxy nexus ics boot animation
Can I use TWRP?

For all the people with issues.
I really dont know why the OP's in all these boot animation screens point to place the file in system/media as that will rewrite your bootanimation with no chance to undo the changes.
Better, place the file in data/local, not -rw permissions or something. Just place it and delete it if you want to revert to the stock bootanimation or replace it with another bootanimation.zip if you want try another one.
This is more secure as you dont modify the original bootanimation.zip in system/media.
