Guys, After a while i'm using my htc desire hd . I downloaded the new rom n copied to sd card. booted phone to recovery mode.
as usual wiped everything. some how Sd card is not showing up. it's says not mounted. even i tried to mount it's not mounting either.
with Samsung I could use Odin to flash a new recovery or rom.
I don't know what to do with htc desire HD ?
any help plz
Get the pd98 zip and install thru hboot. Then see if you can do it over again. Are you rooted or not ?
Also did you format SD on computer or on phone. If you did a true full wipe meaning SD as well then your ROM is no longer on card. After full wipe you need to mount USB then copy ROM to SD then flash ROM.

Yes the phone is rooted. n currently using a custom ROM. some how thought of flashing different rom. now stuck at recovery.
curently cwm is 5.0.2.0
Just wondering how can I flash a newer version of it...
In recovery do a full wipe
1. Wipe factory
2. Wipe cache
3. Wipe dalvik
4. Format partitions (except SD card)
5. Format SD card
6. Mount USB
7. Copy ROM zip to SD card
8. Unmount USB
9. Install from SD
10. Flash ROM
11. Reboot
All done from within recovery. Do not exit recovery till all steps complete

I've already copied the ROM into SD card. it's 32 GB Sandisk class 10 sd card.
I have done all those steps but I get error : E: cant mount /sdcard/
Did you try reformatting SD card on computer or even try another card if you have another one.

hello
every single time i try to install a custom rom i get stuck at the HTC boot screen what am i doing wrong ??
for example i tried to install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861690
i first rooted my phone using unrevoked then backed up my data then i go on recovery wipe data and cache then flash the zip file tried the same on couple more roms but still the same problem so i don't know what am i doing wrong please help !!
Well, the first thing to check is compatibility. That was the first thing I had to learn when browsing these forums. These forums integrate CMDA & GSM Desires. Also, they encorporate the Desire Z, the Desire, and the Desire HD.
First of all- Are you trying to flash a GSM ROM to a CDMA phone?
2) I see that is an HD ROM, do you have the Desire HD (I'm only assuming the ROMs labeled with "HD" in the title are meant for the Desire HD)?
Things like this are stuff you definitely have to take into consideration do the research for when browsing the Desire forums.
Hope this helps a little.
it's under the Desire section not the DesireZ or Desire HD and the video is shows it's tested on Desire )
The ROM in question requires you to have partitioned your SDcard to have both a FAT and EXT partition.
Have you partitioned your SDcard in this way?
My SD card is in FAT32 format but what is EXT partition ?

It's a good start that when you want to flash a rom you actually read the first post and make sure you understand it.
Ext partitions are not that complicated and searching should give you all the info you need.

Use GParted in Linux or Linux Puppy to wipe and then partion ur card. Check which type of Ext the ROM requires but usually an Ext3 or Ext4 will be required. So if u have a 8GB card make a 1.5GB Ext3 or 4 and then make the remaining space in to a Primary Fat32 partion.

you can also EXT your sd card with Amon RA recovery.
you can download here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839621
read the post!!
you can use unrevoked, choose custom recovery: choose the recovery-RA-desire-v2.0.0-CM.img
in the menu you can ext your SD card.
this method i found very easy. after you made an EXT partition you can choose to make it an EXT2, EXT3 of EXT4 whatever you like. do some reading
be aware: your sd card will be formatted if you make an EXT partition.
Guyz can any1 help me install this rom step by step ?

Make a nandroid and copy it to your pc. (It's in the clockwork foldermod).
Decide what version you want A2SD, D2WE or D2EXT, if you have no idea go with the recommend one.
Read the second post and create the required ext partitions. (keep in mind this will wipe your card so copy everything you want to keep to your pc)
Copy your stuff and the rom you want to flash back to the partitioned card.
Boot in to recovery and wipe data/factory reset, cache and dalvik cache under advanced.
Go to "install zip from sd" and select your downloaded rom.
Wait till its finished installing.
This should be the way but it's still your responsibility.
Thx bro I will give it a try hope it works their it didn't I will restore my data )

Guys, I accidentaly formatted the data and all the SD card from my Desire using the 4EXT Recovery. I didn't even make a Nandroid backup. Now, I haven't any custom ROM, so my phone boots directly into the bootloader menu.
Tried with flashing with the Android Flasher but failed in some processes during the flash. What should I do now, how to install a new rom ( because I don't know how to connect with the PC) or maybe back to stock?!?!. ...NEED HELP QUICKLY, GUYS!!!
In 4ext recovery you have option to mount as USB storage, use it to copy rom to sd and then install it as zip from sd card.

I literally just hit the exact same issue. The phone, PC, and CWM all recognized and could mount the Ext SD, then I told CWM to backup to External SD....
Now I can't mount or read my SD from the PC, Phone, or CWM....
I've read a few forums claiming that this process reformats the SD to Fat32, but even then, it should be able to read it through at least ONE of those three mediums...
Any luck finding a solution?
Looks like i have ran into the same problem as well..
I Was running jedi 14, i decided to flash the new jedi 16. booted in cwm, format x2, flash jedi... wipe cache...... and then it boots me back into cwm. If i try to restore it wont mount the sd card. But it allows me to access jedi 16 and even run the aroma installer.. very weird
I got a bootloop after flashing those two zips and I tried wiping data/factory reset but it's still stuck in a boot loop. Can someone help me please?

I can't flash a rom from my ext sd card though. I get an error from CWM recovery when I try to do so. My sd card format is exFAT format btw.
format it to fat32 then.. I'm sure you have the SD card adaptor to use on your laptop without the phone... do a quick format... you need a program that is free in windows... Google format fat32

It's windows, pop in the card, go to start, then my computer, right-click the new icon, select format, choose fat32, select quick format, click start, wait, done.
Or use GParted to format it to fat32 in *nix.
Or any other software you prefer to use.

Just boot into recovery and format micro sd or ext sd card (wording depends on recovery of choice) as long as when it formats it says using mkdosfs and completes successfully youre golden and back to fat 32 and using sd card again like nothing happened

Alright guys, I managed to fix it but my dumbass accidently hit the format sd-ext button on CWM recovery when I was trying to hit the format data button and now all my data is gone Thankfully I still got most of the backups from my old Galaxy Nexus and managed to restore almost everything except my music playlist which took me hours to make Thanks for the replies though, even though I read them after I fixed it.
Hey guys , seeking help from the pros here.
I tried to install a new rom yesterday and mistakenly hit the format SD option instead of format System to clean phone before installing a new Rom. Now my problem is my internal memory has no files now, when going in cwm and trying to install rom from internal memory it says there are no files.
So i was wondering if anyone knows a way i can flash files back into the phone, i tried Odin and some of the flash stock rom guides here but i boot loop and it removed my cwm, so when i go into recovery i actually go into androids stock recovery mode. I have tried to flash cwm again and that seems to work but still no files in the phone. Help.

You should be able to mount sd card from recovery. Choose that option in advanced. I use twrp now and it's a bit easier to use than com. Once you mount the sd card find it on your computer move the rom zip there. Now unmount the sd and flash away.

Twrp seems easier to use and it has big buttons with the touch screen.
If you have an external sd put the rom on it from your pc. Then select external sd from twrp by touching it where it says internal and select external. Now flash a custom rom.
