Hey guys,
I am going to ask the question in this thread because I don't know where else to go. I am a little lost as to where to place this question. Don't get mad. :cyclops:
I have a NOTE II (Samsung), however, my aunt went to a website called AhappyDeal and she bought a Note3, the phone is made in good quality and it has a responsive screen with nice resolution, dual sim card slots and all that. I would post a link except that I dont know if I can post links in this forum so I wont.
I put the phone on WIFI and have been using it as a tablet all day because when we insert the Tmobile Sim Card, it detects the network fine but
when you want to make a call, or send an sms or go data there is no network available.
I am not sure that the phone is unlocked correctly. I also, already went to Tmobile and called Tmobile they could not do anything about it. I am guessing the question is .... how do I unlock an unbranded phone? It is running Jelly Bean

No one here can answer a question about a phone they do not have. Who knows who made it? I would return it if you can.

Have you checked the APN?

First there is no note 3 yet. Also probably wrong place to ask because every phone is different. I would say to try the generic samsung dialer code the note 2 uses, but that appears to be running AOSP so probably won't work. You can post the link so post it so we can try to figure out what hot actually have.

I would make a new APN first to see if that works..
Try either
epc.tmobile.com
Or
fast.t-mobile.com
And for the mms add this to the mmsc field:
http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com.mms.wapenc
Save it and set it as default.

I'd be very suspicious. The Chinese love putting Happy in the names of places, especially their restaurants. They also love to make similar items and sell them as the real thing. See small USB drives being sold as larger, but with firmware that reports the larger size.
Do they even make a dual sim Note 2? If so it's possible they either put Note 3 as a typo, to get more hits, whatever. My father in law is actually looking for a dual sim S3, but I dunno if they make them.

Search around, I think you will find out , that those are Pre-Release Prototype phones, and many people have bricked them putting custom tmo roms on them ...
Sounds like a dealers demo or prototype. Used to show off to customers or retail stores. I use to work at Sprint and I had a device that was like that before. But who really knows!

I am on the lookout for a Galaxy Nexus in Mumbai, India. I want to make sure that I get my money's worth when buying the phone i.e I don't want to get ripped off by the seller.
Can you please tell me how I can know if a phone is new or used previously.
I already read but people in the comments have reported that they don't always work:

I know. That's why I posted this thread - to see if someone else would have a answer.
There's very little you can do to check if it's new or not other than call Samsung and see if someone has registered the unit with them for some reason or another. Although the seals on the box being broken would be a massive give away

When i got my nexus in the mail my buddy took it out of the box and put his phone in to play a joke on me and didn't even break the seal. I asked him how he did it and he said he didn't even realize he had done that. So no the seal is no indicator at all lol.

I find it hard to believe you can undo the seal without damaging it, I had to proper rip mine to get into the box. Perhaps the EU ones are more secure!!
Either way, unless you're getting it from an official dealer it's hard to say whether it's 100% new or not
Hi,
well, its getting towards the the (semi) retirement of my (the one and only) HD2.
5 years was a pretty good investment and it still all works great.
but...
I am thinking that the M8 is really the only contender with the possibilities (wishful thinking) of multi boot and maybe even including windows phone 8.
the ideal phone will be the dual sim version for me but i can see all the good stuff going on for the M8 but will everything apply if i get the dual sim version?
what i mean is, are they exactly the same apart from the extra sim?
i dont want to get the dual sim then find out that i cannot take advantage of any of the development going on for the M8.
thanks.

hmm, ok, thanks for the heads up JellyTooth. that seemed to be the impressions i was getting from the posts here.
thats a shame that it is different as it really seems to be the ideal phone.
i suppose i could always just buy it anyway and then use it standard without rooting, flashing, customizing, and, and, and...
naw, forget that.
i am still undecided and less than 4 weeks to go before my birthday...

I bought it in Saudi one month ago, it works excellent. If you don't mind too much for the dev then get it. With root you can customize it with Xsense,Sense 6 and so on. Finally I find a dual sim phone for my needs.
Hi bro, I just have a question if you dont mind, can I root the dual sim M8 without loosing OTA official update, just rooting no recover no missing up the device
Well lets see here , regular sim doesnt get updates regularly like normal m8 ( from several sources including htc themselves ) , and no rom devolpment as the second post said
other than that the device is excelent and the best i've ever seen in handling 2 sims and the difference in the price isnt hight

yes, thats a good point. have you rooted yours?
ok, it looks like there is a twrp for M8 dual sim which means it can be rooted and i think that will be enough to keep me happy for now at least.
also i assume it is on the list of phones to get htc official android L so now i am talking myself back into this...
another question, can you disable either sim when its not required without taking it out?
Yes you can disable one sim from the setting without phisically removing it…

UPDATE: I decided to get the m8 dual sim today
I know if I bought the single sim version I will regret it later.
as all have said before, its sweeeet
fyi, I bought it in Carrefour in Abu Dhabi. they had a discount today as this weekend is Eid Al Adha holiday.
cost was 2249AED (about 610USD, 380GBP) and included a matching grey dot view case and 2 htc branded screen protectors (actually cost a bit less as i got points on the store card and air miles)
its the 16GB version but as i have a 64GB card to add in thats more than enough (for now...)
which i thought was a pretty good deal
(i know its only the first day but already i am missing root for titanium backup )
I have a note 4 from AT&T with a firmware LYM47X.N910AUCU2DOI2 in 5.1.1 Lollipop stock and never modified! I want unlock the bootloader, install a teamwin recovery to make a backup of my original firmware to make root later, but, i not see anything about do that, if someone know how to...... i have the kitchen ready to cook this OS but i need make free my device before do that

Yes, you can use your phone with T-Mobile, but I'm not sure if the phone will work 100% with their data and network.
Someone will need to clarify on that for you.
For sure, you will not be able to receive updates through T-Mobile. Your phones are still ATT, so they require ATT firmware. In order to receive ATT OTA updates, you have to have an active ATT sim.
However, you can still use Odin to flash your phones with the latest ATT firmwares. You'll be able to find the Odin files here on XDA a couple weeks after a firmware is launched via OTA.
