Has anybody seen this before? This is my splash screen as I boot into recovery. I'm using the latest version of CWM Touch (CWM 6.0.3.1) so I don't know if it's something with the phone or the recovery.
Booting normally doesn't have the "little blue man" on the bottom - just the generic Galaxy S III splash screen.
Thanks.
Its the latest CWM recovery splash
EDIT: I a dumby.

What you see is normal, some recoveries like TWRP for example
include a startup boot screen logo/picture or other special graphics
which would not normally show up when doing a normal reboot
or power on/off of the phone.

No kidding? Huh, I thought it was CWM doing it, lol. Learn something new every day. I thought it was weird that CWM gave a splash screen to a ROM lol

That's what I thought, lol. I think CWM is merged with CyanogenMod. Or at least took that piece from them.
CWM does not have a boot screen.
It's the CM kernel splash screen. If not using CM, then using derivative kernel.

I am a complete noob about kernels (I'm still on stock :silly. So, I am wondering how a kernel would have my splash screen have a little blue man when booting into Recovery, but have the stock splash screen (with no blue man) when I boot normally? Thanks.

Just saw your post edit. I think I understand - CWM would need its own kernel to run on the phone. Correct?

I tried to put cyanogen mod on my arc s but i was stuck in a boot loop and i thought maybe i need a custom kernel for it.
What kernel should i use? Cyanogenmod Kernel or DooMKernerl for Cyanogenmod ?
Will the ARC-DooMKernel-v18-FIX1-lower_boot (1.6ghz) will work with cyanogen although i wont overclock the cpu? And whats the order of stept?
Root, flash kernel and then instal cyanogen from sd via cwm?
Thanx
Use FXP's kernel inside the package.
DooMKernel for CM7 is no longer supported atm.

I don't really understand your question, are you in a bootloop?
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
I too had the same problem.
Its not exactly instant boot loop.
When CM boots up the first time, it asks us to touch the android to begin.
The moment you touch it, it reboots.
I got around this by downloading a lower/older version of CM. Helped me boot first, and analyze later.
do you flash the right baseband?

If you flash a custom kernel, you won't need that app, and you will have full plug-n-play HDMI mirroring. If you download Kernel Manager Lite from the Market, you want the "PoonSense" kernel. That's the stock Gingerbread kernel, with HDMI mirroring built in. No reason to downgrade.
+1 on that Capt is the man who knows.

A note about Kernel Manager - you can't let it flash the kernel for you - it won't work. After it downloads, you'll need to reboot into recovery and flash it manually. There should be a Kernel Manager folder on the SD card that contains the downloaded kernel.

Did you wipe cache and dalvik cache? You should always do that before flashing a kernel (after wouldn't hurt either, I guess).
I can't think of any reason you would get stuck, if it was working previously.
EDIT: Actually, I just thought of one - what recovery are you using? If it's not RA-supersonic, then that's likely your problem.
Poonsense
Hi - I downloaded the kernel poonsense and have the same exact problem- phone wont boot up keeps going to the white screen back to the Sinister 'droid' screen before which is usually the screen before lock screen but goes back to white htc screen back and forth- any suggestions?
Thanks,

don't use that kernel, try lionfish or chop seuy follow the flash instructions I posted above and you should be good to go. Also I believe he put as2d in the ROM so if you have a partition you will see the evo white screen 3 times before it boots.

I'd like to start out by saying I'm not a noob. Ive flashed and rooted other phones before. Every time I try to flash a custom recovery on my HTC One V, I get the white htc page with a paragraph in red letters. I unlocked the bootloader first and followed all the proper directions in order to flash the custom recovery. I can get rooted no problem, but when I try to flash a custom recovery I get that white screen with red lettering no matter what I do. What the heck is the problem???? I just bought the one v 4 weeks ago and it came with android 4.0.3.
You're stuck on those screen or that message pisses you off? If it's the second variant, U can't do anything :/
Its normal...
as long as you can boot into the UI, its ok...
and btw, wrong thread..

Ok, I cant do anything about that screen popping up I understand that but what Im saying is when Im done flashing the recovery, and when I try to get into the custom recovery that I just flashed all i get is that white screen with red letters. It just sits there...nothing happens.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you need to rename whatever the boot image was called to recovery.img (check it's not recovery.img.img)
??
Everything on the phone works fine except the recovery. I cant access the recovery is what im saying.

Im starting to think that this phone cant have custom recovery on it. If some one wants to prove me wrong then show me.
Please ask all questions in Q&A. Thread moved there.
i meant to say recovery.img not boot.img
I had this issue. What custom recovery are you trying to flash. Certain versions of cwm and twrp arnt supported for the CDMA primoc version. Cwm 5.8 and twrp2 are the only ones I know of. I like twrp2 because its a touch ui.

Do you have a PrimoU (GSM) or PrimoC (CDMA)? You need to flash the right image. Flashing a recovery for PrimoC on a PrimoU won't work.
flashed miui.us rom clockwork and after 30 mins its still showing splash screen,
i booted into recovery and when tride to mount usb storage i keep getting error,
i have no sd card to load with.
please tell me this is fixable...

If worse comes to worse there is a guide on how to flash back to stock rom and then start from the start. Re-rooting and reflashing etc etc.
got it to revert.
thing is any rom i flash it gets stuck in splach screen and never boots up even after an hour.

any suggestions?

Overwrite the on in your rom.
I did not install it through the zip. I was trying to include it in Virginity and I positively got a black screen. It's not the installer fault

It takes longer for my phone to boot up than it does for the animation to finish, so when it's done, it just loops the android text. With the original one-the one that was 625x380-the rotating circles would loop until my phone was done booting, and then the android text would appear
