I think I overcharged the battery since I had the phone on last Friday. I was used to overcharging my old phone cause it would die in like three hours at the most.. how can I fix it? I want my battery last like 10 hours or so.. battery draining one percent every min while I'm on chrome. I always kill the processes and services so it would fix that. The power saver is no help.

If you are not rooted, you can try letting the battery die and charging the phone fully while keeping the phone off the entire time.

The first month this phone was great on battery... Its horrible now 3 months later! I shut off all the samsung stuff that suck up the battery. I have the screen power down to the lowest setting. Sometimes when i charge the phone is says its fully charged and when i unplug it its about 98%. Does this once and awhile. I've been playing a games for about 1.5 hours. The batter is about 40%. Is this normal?
10 minutes later i just checked the phone and now its down to 30%... wtf is going on with this battery?

1.) You should get Better Battery Stats from the Play Store so you can see what could be causing this battery drain.
2.) When you unplug your device and it shows 98% it's a good thing. It means that your fuel gauge is working correctly. We have a safety feature that helps the battery to never get over charged. It helps the battery last a lot longer. The way these batteries work is if it's constantly overcharged over an certain amount of time it would deplete the battery life.

you have something in the background going on. could be a rouge app. check Better Battery Stats.
A coworker of mine has a Galaxy III on ATT same as I do. She complained about her battery to me. We both opened our Elvision Battery Widget and saw that screen times and time on battery were within 30 minutes of each other (1hr 50m mine vs 2hr 15m hers). She had 73% and I had 95%; her widget said 38XXmv, mine said 4100 (I have more stuff on than her). I had her restart her phone just for the hell of it, then I flipped through her settings and TURNED OFF battery saver. The problem went away. I've never used the battery saver and my battery stays golden all day. That said there's no telling if the restart did more for the phone than turning off the battery saver. I told her to turn on battery saver for 2 hours this weekend and see what it does. Will keep everyone posted.

Are you on stock?
Stock ICS on my S3
I'm rooted on stock ICS...
Google Now is a huge battery drain from my experience.
I'm rooted stock. No battery issues in fact gs3 has some of the best battery life I've seen second only to my hoxl.
Download autostart fromvthe market.
Find out what's running at os startup.
Disable. Things like googleplay, Googlemaps etc. Don't need to start up.
In fact the only thing required is integral Os components. At start up, I have alimost everything Google disabled.
None of your maps need time start when boot. None of them. Keep in mind I'm talkin aps like ....anything AT&T... w/e you dl'd from market.
Also go through and disable bloatware.
This will help. check your battery. It should be flat or slightly concaved. If it's bulging even slightly get a new one.
Report back and let us know.

My phone just started to do this about a week ago.
I tried reflashing, wiping cache/data, factory reset- nothing.
Whenever I charge, it will either charge significantly slow, or say charging but the percentage just goes down as if it wasn't even charging in the first place.
So I powered off for the entire night, (8-9 hours) and it will say fully charged. And I keep it connected to the charger but when I take a look at the phone again about 15 min later it reads 83% battery and charging.
I was really annoyed so I just left my phone on the charger again while I took a power nap (1-2 Hours) and after that I take a look and now it reads 68%.
The other day I saw it was fully charged so I took it off the charger and went on with my day. After, not even about 8 hours, it was already 10%.
It's like it only charges normally when the phone is shut off. Do I just need to replace the battery? Or is it something with the phone that drains the battery so quickly? I've already ordered a replacement extended battery off of Amazon just in case.
Most likely your battery. Go into battery stats and see whats apps are having high usage. Or download Gsam.

Im pretty sure its the battery now, the stats are normal and it doesn't seem like one process is hogging all the cpu. Can't wait for my extended battery next week, i cant last a week more with this annoying battery issue. Any suggestions for now?

For I guess about the past couple weeks my GS3 has been getting horrible battery life. I fully charge it, then unplug it and it's down to like 95% within like 10 minutes without any usage. I have the screen saver on so the screen is only at like 30% or so, but when I go to Settings then Battery it says that the screen is eating up 86% of my battery and I have no idea why! Any help would really be appreciated!!

I had a similar issue with the charger that came with my GS3, started using a kernel with fast charge for around a month then it just wouldn't charge at all, phone would light up and say it was charging but battery kept draining. I tried another USB cable and now it works like normal, fast charge and normal drain. I've done a bit of research on it and if the pins don't get a good contact then the voltage drops and I guess a low voltage charge doesn't last long at all.

Hello
For the past week, or so (maybe longer), my battery has been going from 45% to 0% in a matter of seconds and then the phone turns off. I've run various battery health test and they say that it's in good health.
Does this mean the battery's on it's way out/going to die any day now.
I've had the phone for just over 2 years. Is this the standard for this battery?
Thanks
PS. Is it an easy job to replace the battery.................if I need to?

yes change battery. the drop to 0% battery is a well known issue.
tl;dr: Got a new battery. I've seen lots of posts around on how to reset the battery stats so the phone "knows" how to accurately gauge how much batter is left. Is that necessary with a new battery?
I upgraded to stock pie about a month or so ago. Since then, my phone randomly freezes and reboots 5-10 times per day. It's not an app causing it as it does it the same thing in safe mode. It happens when the phone is plugged in also. I thought maybe it was the battery, so I got a new one installed. It's still doing it even after the new battery. What Is your screen on time with the new battery? do you recomend replace the battery?
Jumping in, 6 months old device, battery still has full capacity.

I don't really remember what it was before I had the battery replaced. SOT was definitely quite a bit lower than when new. The phone was over a year and half old and I'm a pretty heavy user so it was charge cycles A LOT. IIRC, Accubattery showed it was holding about 75% of original charge. It definitely feels, like the new battery as a couple more(if not more) hours of SOT now.

Hi there.
Was wondering if u have replaced the battery yourself. And it survived the procedure alright. I am now having the same stats - accubattery shows 75% health.
Should I go for it? Scared as hell
