Oh one more thing...
you might want to try to redownload the rom
just in case its fragmented somehow
if you get into recovery you can copy over the rom again while in recovery
make sure you are usb unplugged
boot recovery
plug usb into computer
go to mount
only cache, internal sdcard and micro sdcard are selected on mine
then click on mount usb storage
copy over fresh copy of rom
then follow my flash instructions

To the OP, I'm glad you got it working. JMT JB3 is great. I'm on it too. I love it.
Just a side note on these scripts. Darkside does not work with anything based off of the official 4.1.2 release because of the Preload that is included. You need to use the new modified ones from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2235141

The procedure for a rom installation is usually listed on its OP<-Opening Page
One more thing... you asked me in a text message about root...
TWRP 2.5.0.0 has the ability to root a device...
here is... IMO the easiest procedure to install stock 4.1.2, recovery and root
flash stock rom with odin (I rebooted to system looked at the sock rom quick and went back to odin(should still work without restart toggle on))
flash TWRP 2.5.0.0 (with reboot toggle on)
open TWRP go to reboot and reboot system (it will prompt you to install root)
when phone boots open SU update done!

I know this has been asked hundreds of times, and i searched the forums for days for a way to fix it, but with no use.
I have a rooted AT&T Galaxy SIII with JB 4.1.1. I am trying to install the CM 10.1(4.2.2) Nightly version, but i always get the infamous "Status 7 Installation Aborted" error.
Yes i am sure im downloading the correct ROM zip file for my phone and carrier.
I have CWM 6.0.2.1, and i followed the steps correctly. (Clear data -> Clear Cache Partition -> Clear Dalvik Cache -> install ROM)
I have tried so many times, i also re-rooted my phone, reinstalled CWM, and redownloaded different nightly versions of the ROM, as well as other ROMS like JellyBam.
I also tried to delete the assert lines in the update-script file, but that also wouldnt work.
Thank you. :good:
And please dont hate on me, im new to rooting and flashing. :crying:

Hi guys, I'm having same issue but on N7000 international version. I'm able to go in the recovery mode and download mode but phone won't boot normally. It's stuck on Samsung logo so can you please advise something? How can I update CWM if that's the issue. I was on ICS 4.0.4 XXLRK before trying to install CM10.1 on Note.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I would be doing my research in an N7000 forum, friend.
Also, your post seems confusing as you seem to be saying you also got a status 7 error but then you appear to have installed abroad and are stuck at the boot logo. If you successfully flashed the correct rom for your device without any errors, pull battery, replace and wipe data in recovery. Reboot

If the phone itself is functioning fine but you simply cannot flash a new rom or rom update, you need to update your recovery. Go to clockworkmods website and download version 6.0.1.2.

I would take up this situation in the correct forum. The more we discuss your device issues the more likey you are to download the wrong file or use a procedure not designed for your device software.
If you came from stock, flashed a rom and are stuck at the samsung logo, boot into recovery, wipe data and cache. Reboot to see if that helped. If not, seek advice in the N7000 forum. Cheers
Thanks for the guidance.
Hello, i do full wipe..then ROM flash regular as normal everyday ROM flash. But now i cant go into boot animation it just stay on Google logo.
i have lates TWRP 2.5.0. I can go into recovery, flash ROM, i can do anything in recovery without error message. I can do full wipe system, cache, dalvik, data then flash ROM but no matter what ROM i flash it just does not boot
i try restore backup, wipe all, fix permissions, flash other ROM, flash stock 422rooted with bussibox from bixie but nothing helps. I flashing on USB key mouned on OTG cable.
Im waiting 5-10min. then pull battery. I dont know what to do more to get it working
please help
EDIT: restoring data give me message "cant mount /data" but after reboot i can mount
EDIT2: after flashing regular ROM /system is empty.. its normal? im using TWRP file manager
Flash stock factory images through fastboot, then start over. Try another recovery version (like twrp 2.4.4.0 or cwm), even though I haven't experienced any issues.

I tied to flash the pac-man 4.2.2 ROM to my rooted s4. It worked but all the Google apps did not come with it... so I downloaded an app package off of GooManeger. Anyway after reboot it was obvious the app package was not compatible. Wiped phone, then no ROM, no OS, no nothing. Device doesn't get past initial boot screen. I can get into download and recovery mode. Not really sure how to download anything on my phone right now as my computer doesn't recognize it anymore. My recovery mode is TeamWin. I'm sure there's more you want to know so please ask and I appreciate your help.

You need to start from scratch using ODIN and flash the stock/non rooted Tmobile Samsung Galaxy S4 M919 firmware.
(using download mode in the phone)
Here is the download link: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/213469534/9ff06bd/M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_TMB.zip.html
After the odin flash you will need to root the phone unless you want to keep it stock.
Good luck!

You may have wiped the /system folder which may explain why your phone is stuck on the booting sequence. As the poster said above, use Odin to flash the stock MDL and root again. As far as your computer not recognizing it. Put the phone into download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power), plug the phone into a different USB port (and let the drivers install if it's the first time you're plugging your phone in that port for Windows users), and then open up Odin and flash the stock firmware from there. Let us know if Odin recognizes your phone.
If you can still get into download mode and recovery, you are NOT totally bricked.

Got phone back to normal, then accomplished root access. Downloaded clock work and now recovery mode does not work. I downloaded CW from hot file. Try Philz CWM flash via Odin

Odin back to stock and re-root. IIRC, CWM should be available from the Play store where you can then open the app and install/update the libraries. Didn't Pacman ROM include CWM?
Thank you guys for the advice. Super usefull
I was under the impression I needed to download a download a recovery mod first. Where is the best place to get my ROMs? I'm real interested in the pacman. I extracted the pacman files but it wont plug into the PDA in Odin. Also MD5 hash checker is something I've never heard of..

You need to have a working custom recovery first. Like Skipjacks stated, you flash ROM in the custom recovery.
I think you should start from the beginning and take it step by step.
I assumed at this point you're rooted on the stock ROM with stock recovery?
If not lets get to that stage and we can go from there.
-Stock ROM rooted with stock recovery
-Flash custom recovery
-Nandroid backup
-Flash custom ROM<<You are here
Let us know when you're ready for the next step.:good:

Derp moment. CWM != ROM Mgr. :silly: Thanks for the clarification.
I did it all with exception of flashing the ROM. Every time I try to flash the pacman 4.3 it fails. Any suggestions on how to fix that or should I turn my attention so a different ROM. I'm going for optimization and complete customization, without needing a launcher. Or maybe a suggested ave to customize touch wiz to the fullest.

Sometimes it's easy to watch someone doing stuff then reading
Well is for me lol
Root doesn't matter when you're S-OFF and have a custom recovery installed. Root comes into play when the OS is actually running and from the sound of it, your internal storage got wiped, hence why it can't mount system.
When you are in TWRP, plug your phone in to the computer and it should allow you to do adb commands.
Grab the ROM of your choice, I'd recommend InsertCoin but you can use any ROM, download that to your computer.
In TWRP, do Wipe/Advanced Wipe and check Dalvik, System, Cache, Data (do not check Internal Storage, microSD, or USB-OTG) then swipe to wipe, reboot recovery.
Now open up a command prompt with adb and do adb push romnamehere.zip /sdcard/romnamehere.zip
Then install the ROM as normal.
Reboot and if you get hung at the HTC screen again, you can try the same thing but wipe internal storage as well. Note that will wipe everything on your device but it may fix it. If it does not, you may have a failing eMMC chip, something I saw a few times on the M7, which would require a replacement device. I don't believe we have a RUU out yet which would kind of mean you're SOL. You would have to use the instructions to return to 100% stock in order to get warranty service or if you have insurance you would have to pay your deductible since you modified the device.
Before wiping internal storage post here again if the above instructions fail. There are other things you can try first.

Check the MD5 of the roms you are downloading. Also, which rom are you trying to flash and which phone do you have?
What recovery are you using?
Assuming the MD5 of the roms you are flashing do matchup and this isn't just a corrupted data issue. I would redownload whatever recovery you're using,
Check the MD5 of the recovery image
Flash said recovery:
fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img
then use fastboot to erase cache
fastboot erase cache
Then select recovery from the bootloader screen
Then factory reset
Then wipe system in advanced wipe
Then try flashing your rom again.
Iam have TWRP v2.7.0.2

When you download a ROM, typically the md5 checksum is posted on the download page. Using an md5 checking program, you can verify the integrity of the files you download by generating the md5 checksum of the file you downloaded and comparing it to the one posted on the site where you downloaded your file from.
Use google if you do not have an md5 checking program. Flashing something like a firmware or anything that alters any emmc partitions that has data corruption could brick your phone. Hence and MD5 checking tool is invaluable when rooting/modding your phone.

Hmmm on Verizon??? Hmmm Verizon does have it's own separate XDA forum.. maybe you should try roms from there?? not sure if they're different but if XDA differentiated, then probably..

Also make sure you're using this recovery:

Okay, everything seemed fine on my s2 until the latest CM download. I install it though CWM and it seems fine but then it says
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error in /sdcard/firmware/cm-11-20140619-NIGHTLY-hercules.zip

"Set metadata recursive" probably means you are using a recovery that is too old.
@Spud37
Yes, it means your recovery is outdated. Here is a download link for the latest TWRP that you can flash in Odin as PDA. http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/hercules/openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-hercules.tar
This link came from teamwins website (teamw.in)

Well there is another issue with my phone that I have actually worked around for awhile now. The MircoUSB on the phone is broken. I bought an extra battery and swap it, I also just use the SD card to copy anything to the phone. Is there a way for me to flash the phone with the new TWRP from the sd card. Why would the older TWRP not install CM 10.2.0 ROM? Do I have to go older perhaps? Thanks though. Knowing is half the battle
EDIT: Going to try and install 10.1.0 and see if it will let me boot. I figure once I can get it to boot, it will be easier to update the Recovery on the phone.
EDIT 2: No problems or errors occured when I installed CM 10.1.0.zip. However it still got stuck in a boot loop. I did however find a file called superwipe for the T mobile S2. I am wondering if that could help
EDIT 3: Okay so the superwipe worked and i am now running 10.1.0, Is it possible to install a Recovery from the phone without using odin?
What all did you wipe when you installed 10.1? There is a way to update the recovery if you can get the phone to boot. What is the latest thing you got to boot on your phone?

It is a lot more risky if your usb port doesn't work, since you can't flash back to stock in Odin if something goes wrong. I would recommend that you get someone to fix that USB port before you make too many changes.

Okay, now for the tutorial. These instructions are assuming that you are already rooted. Download this file and make sure you check the md5sum. Rename it to TWRP.img and move it to /storage/sdcard. This will make the next steps easier. If you move the file somewhere else, make a note of the location of the file. If you have not already, install the terminal emulator app form the Play Store. Open it and type the following lines in it.
Code:
su
[CLICK ENTER]
Code:
dd if=/storage/sdcard/TWRP.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
(Change the path to wherever you moved the file to) [CLICK ENTER]
Reboot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. Reboot. If recovery says that system recovery will override it on reboot, click fix. This should update your recovery.
Have a good afternoon,
