WiQiQi - A New Wireless Charging Solution for SGS3/4 - Galaxy S III Accessories

I read the now closed Qi Wireless Charging Thread (including the warnings from the mods), and I believe the following qualifies to have a new discussion.
Note to all that I am not affiliated with these guys, and I am not selling anything. Indeed, the product is even really available for sale... yet.
***
I recently came across an article describing a new wireless charging solution for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4, and the Note 2. It works just like the hacks described to transplant the coil from a Palm Pixi battery cover [1, 2, 3], except that the WiQiQi is compatible with all Qi charging bases (as opposed to the Pixi, which is only compatible with the HP/Palm TouchStone charger). The biggest difference, though, is that you just have to slip the thin wireless receiver under the stock battery cover.
The WiQiQi is currently only available to those who invest in their Indiegogo fundraiser. The kits for the S3 and Note 2 are available "late April," while the kit for the S4 will be available mid June.
One nice perk for us SGS3 owners is that anyone who has a WiQiQi for the S3 can trade it in towards one for the S4 when/if we upgrade our phones! Their kits include a charging mat & free US shipping. Their goal is to beat Samsung at it's own game here, and the cost is half of Samsung's expected $100 price tag.
I think it looks really promising. Personally, I'm just not willing to spend $50 on a charger, but I'm sure others will be interested. I am interested, though, to see these guys succeed. It looks like a well-made product, and I wouldn't mind having one, when it's available!

WiQiQi's Indiegogo page (where you can buy it)
LaptopMag Article, where I first read about it (has more pics)
Engadget "Article" (really just a press release)
So, what do you guys think? Also, any moderator willing to give this thread the thumbs up to proceed?

um... every Qi receiver pad works with ALL transmitter pads...
the set looks practically exactly like the current models that are out (including the transmitter base).
the transmitter looks like the 2nd gen transmitter that is currently out but i'm not so sure about the receiver (pad)
I believe the stickied thread you linked have pictures of the same charging kits.
EDIT: here's a link to the post that has the pic of the charger they have: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35976320&postcount=158

Official Samsung/Google Accessories?

Are Samsung/Google going to be releasing official accessories for the GN? If so, anyone got any links to any?
I found this over at htcpedia.
Not sure if it's a rumor or not, but if it's true, I am happy, a car dock and multimedia dock are exactly the accessories I was hoping for.
(Sorry to the mods if linking to htcpedia is against forum rules, if it is, feel free to edit.)
I really want the dock with the pins. That's what I miss most from the Nexus One.
I'm always on-call and it's a hell-of-a-lot easier to pick it up off the dock in the middle of the night to answer a call when it's just resting on pins.
I'm actually after an OEM pouch/case. Always buy OEM as the fit is always perfect, couldn't care less about a dock as my phone is a phone - not a multi-media device
Thanks for the link btw
i want to see the official photos themselves and till then i won't buy any dock.
i'd like to buy the dock we all saw in the keynote, the dock that uses the pogo pins.
Car dock uses the pins, the desk dock uses the usb for the HDMI out both were due over a week ago and are now late.

Careful...... As I posted in the battery thread, the US version of the Galaxy Nexus & the UK version are different with different MODEL numbers. Verizon version is bigger (fatter) and the accessories are NOT interchangeable. Make sure you purchase the accessories for the model # you have.

External batteries/Portable chargers

I'm looking to buy one for when i'm traveling to charge my phone/tablet and looking for suggestions on brands/models/etc. Probably don't really want to spend much more than ~$50 on one. Only requirements are that it isn't too big and bulky to not fit well in a laptop travel case. And the more mAh the better obviously. Thanks.

There are a lot of brands out there. Morphie seems to be one of people's top picks - probably because it looks super nice and marketed well. I personally have never own one and think it's a bit on the pricey side. I have a Ravpower one with 10,400 mah which was mentioned in this thread if you wanna take a look. Works great. Not heavy at all which was surprising. And can charge my nexus 7 about 2 times before i need to charge again. Think Ravpower have smaller ones too, but 10,400 might be their largest capacity charger.
These portable power chargers seems to be everywhere now. You can probably find some in stores too. Think I saw a low mAh one at Lowes the other day by either Duracell or Energizer, but these might not be best for heavy charging.
I just ordered 2 antec powerup 3000's apparently they have Panasonic batteries. I will report back!

9000mAh Portable Charger - charge 2 devices at once
There is a portable charger from Trident Case that allows you to charge 2 devices at once...one port is for small devices like a phone (1.0A) and the other is for larger devices like tablets (2.0A)...all you need is a USB plug to charge...it comes with a micro USB cable. It's originally $99 but they are having a sale through Feb. 18th

Arkon stand for Note 2

I remember someone was looking for a Note 2 portable stand. I just got this one for my Nexus 7, but it works great for Note 2 as well in both landscape and portrait modes. VERY sturdy design, and folds nicely into a compact stick. High quality construction, lightweight, and will work for any large phone and tablets from 7" to 10"+.
http://www.arkon.com/tablet-accessories/tablet-stand.html - and you can actually get it at Amazon for $8 plus change where it has over 1k reviews with an average 4.75 rating.

These holding up really well since March and took a lot of kids abuse. Its on amazon for $7.15, great deal I thought to share with you guys.

I can back this up. I have one of these and although it isn't the smallest, it's fantastic. very stable and adjustable for a wide range of sizes and positions. I have had it for over a year and travel daily with it. I'm not gentile but not abusive. It's well worth the money IMO.
Nift idea. Have one for my tablet but never thought about using it for my note ii.
Btw, as a warning. Make sure when you shop on Amazon you check who is the actual seller. It gets so confusing with different choices. Apparently there are counterfeit Arkon stands sold under the main listing from other suppliers (especially from sellers in China). Those come in a white box with some graphics on it. These knock offs are of a poor quality. The real Arkon product will come in a clear package. I didn't even realize that until start reading some of the comments on Amazon and contacted Arkon with a question. That's how I learned about knock offs

Could Galaxy S3 use Qi wireless charger?

I use it on my S3. The charging speed is not that fast compared to USB, which I think is well-known. The back cover gets a bit warm also, and I have an Otterbox Commuter case as well, which gets a little bit warm also. It charges just fine through the case.
This is the one that I ordered, as it came with the charging pad and receiver for the phone.

Hope this helps!
I have one of the first gen receiver pads and it charges faster than USB but slower than AC.
check ebay. use search terms like "i9300 qi reciever"
just get the reciever pad.
the best charger pad imo is the nokia ones. they're regularly on sale from 20 -25 bucks for the most part. just do some searching online.

Any Wireless charging system or standard that has the two contacts to fit the contacts that are in the Battery compartment and fits will work....A wireless Standard isn't built into the phones, just the Transmitter and Receiver Coils....
QI wireless charging is nice... However I notice the connector from the QI receiver will interfere with the smart cover slot anyone?
look what i found^^

You can find a quality charger kit on ebay... just to be safe... look for "Top Rated Seller" and someone with high feedback score to be safe..

Coocher 5 Port Desktop Wall Charger (great for travel!)

I am reviewing the following device in return for the usage and review of the said item here in XDA. I am not employed or affiliated with them, they were kind enough to seek my opinion on this product.
While not an accessory specific to Nexus 6, I figured I'd add this here because the N6 does have Quick Charging and wanted to let people know my experience with the item.
And honestly, I was looking for one of these desktop chargers for home. I previously bought one when I go on trips to power my various devices, but was looking to upgrade due to me and my wife's phone now equipped with Quick Charge 2.0.
Upon receiving it, The packaging was really nice. Minimal and not too much. Just enough to protect the contents and not hard to unpack at all. Inside housed the desktop charger, the plug, instructions, and other literature as seen in the pics.
The look is a nice textured matte finish and you can grip it pretty well. It has a good weight to it so it won't fly off your desk if you push papers towards it. You can orient it any way you would like to use it, but my preference for this charger is flat with the print facing up. I found that this way, it won't flop over, even though it has some heft to it, you can accidentally knock it over.
There is a power LED when you plug it into the wall. Not bright, just a nice dim blue led to let you know it's on. IMO a nice touch. Next I plugged in both mine and my wife's phone. (Nexus 6 and HTC M8 respectively). And both charged up pretty quickly! I then tested out the remaining three ports (the non-quick charge ones) and all worked as it should. Also I have to note that all the USB ports were easy to plug in and remove with different usb cords.
So is there really any negatives here? Not that I can see. This is a great product for the price listed on Amazon (17 USD prior to shipping if not a prime member).
Maybe offer different colors? With different color LEDs? Just throwing some quick things off the top of my head. But otherwise it's a great product to use.
Would I recommend this? Yes! Because multiple devices that have Quick Charge, we needed this for the times we need to quickly charge up before heading out to of the house and not really worry about carrying external batteries.
Any questions feel free to ask! Pics below
