I tried to run a backup using CWM recover 6.0.3.1 and I keep getting an error "cannot find mount point." it will backup to the internal storage but will not backup into the sd card. I have tried almost everything. Backing up to internal and moving it to sd, that takes to long. I have also tried to un mount/mount the card, move backup path, fix permission, re flash CWM. Please help! Thanks

Try twrp.

I would rather stick with, clockwork mod. Is there another alternative?

Alright so I'm on JB, rooted, Kt kernel and I wanted to factory reset my phone to see if battery life will improve because I've heard it works for some.
My question is, is it better to backup through Kies, reset, and restore from kies backup or will I risk bringing back theb (maybe) source of problems by doing it that way?
Or suck it up and restore from a TWRP or CWM backup. The only reason I prefer the Kies backup is because I hardly have enough memory left on my SD card to hold a Nandroid backup.
Thoughts?

I always hate dealing with kies but i get the issue of memory. That's why i like extra sd card space makes it easier for backups. I prefer cwm but its Ur call

Will the CWM backup include all the pics, texts, etc.?

Do a nandroid on external SD that's where I do mine. Also use titanium you can back it up to dropbox , box or Google.

Nandroid on external sd. As far as the pictures go. I have mine default save to the sd. I normally do not format the external sd during restores, backups or rom swaps. So the pictures always remain.
However, one time I left the the sd card installed when I was returning to stock via oden. It wiped both internal and external. So now when oden is involved I pull the external. Just to be sure.

So now to my understanding in TWRP the option to create image.zip is just creating a backup that I can flash right through Odin like a rom as opposed to the option to create a backup?
What can I do with that option to create a backup? Is that also an odin flashable zip?

Usually Odin doesn't flash zips but it creates a flash able zip through cwm

Yea I meant CWM. Thats the recovery I had installed that allowed me to create the image.zip
So basically that just creates the exact state that my phone is in and allows me to flash it via cwm to get right back to that state.

I was having no problems using and accessing my external sd card from within CWM. Than after some flashes and wipes trying out different roms, and even a complete reset to original rom through ODIN to try and fix it. I can no longer use my external sd card in CWM. It says something along the lines of E:/ cannot mount external sd. Does anyone know what could be causing this, and if there are any solutions?

If the card still reads on your PC I would try to take everything off it and re-format the card. Also maybe try TWRP.I don't have CWM right now but there is probably a selection in it to mount/unmount sd.I know in TWRP the option is there.
HaHa, I had the same problem last night and after spending 5 hrs +, I finally fix it...
After flashing some PA, Jellybam roms, both recovery and the rom can no longer see my mircoSDXC 64gb card. Flashing the latest cwm or twrp did't work. Doing numerous quick and full format on the card to fat32 and exfat didn't work. Restore the stock rom and finally the rom can see the card; however recovery still can't read it. Formatting the card with the rom didn't work. Went to the store and grab a brand new card and still no luck. FINALLY... odin a new cwm recovery fix the problem.... :banghead:

Did you use goo manager to flash? That just pushes the recovery img to the phone not flash it. Ive never had a problem with TWRP with any phone or tablet ive used. CWM on the other hand....thats a different story.

Here's my data point. I had the exact problem of clockworkmod unable to mount external sd card while making a nandroid backup. I tried it via the paid ROM manager plus app without any luck. I sent them a log file.
Then I tried goo manager + twrp and it worked. I donated to twrp.

GooManager/TWRP worked for me.
Sucks trying to use internal memory to flash with only 16GB total.
This is a limitation of driver support for ExFAT, you can force windows into formatting fat32 using a 3rd party utility like this one:
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm
I know this will sound stupid, but I'm kinda new to this and I accidentaly formatted everything on my phone. Basically the only thing I can do now is boot into recovery mode. How cani fix this? Can I just flash a rom from my external sdcard?
Yes you can
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
So you didn't format everything if your sd card still good. Also in yourcase you should of probably have had a nandroids backup on the sd card.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
If you formatted everything including the SD card that had your nandroid like I did a while ago, you can follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687
goodluck
Put a rom on your sd card from your PC... put sd card back in your phone. Boot into recovery and flash.

No sir. CWM only restores files on internal storage.
