[Q] Multi-Window for AOKP/CM10? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Is anyone aware of an app like Multi-Window Manager, Cornerstone, or one that utilizes Floating Windows that would allow me to run two apps on the screen at the same time on an AOKP rom? I am currently running PAC 22.1
I would like to run Waze and Escort Live together and be able to see both of them on a split screen type of setup. I am not seeing anything in my searching that would allow me to do that unless I flash back to a stock Samsung based rom. Is this correct or am I missing something?

Multi window doesn't work on any ROMs for this phone..haven't read anything about it working on aosp ROMs for any phone.

Multi-window works fine on the I777 version when running SHOstock ROM. I am surprised that there isnt a similar ROM for the T989.
I think its a great feature, hopefully it comes to the AOSP roms eventually.

[Q] What rom are you using and why>

What rom is running on your Sprint s3?
What made you go that way? Currently am using Freegs3 latest build. Using Ktweak
I am wondering which is best. It's been about a month since a rom from Free GS3 I am wondering if i am missing out on new features or is the rom just that damn good that updates are few and far between. I am kinda wanting to keep sbeam and svoice or i would just flash cyanogen.
Whats your guys' take on it?
I am using FreeGS3 myself and it is my favorite rom to date. Clark44 has been busy with school and said that as of 12/21 he will be able to start working on an update. In the meantime he said to check the UpdateMe app for additions in there. I use FreeGS3 because I am not big on color themed roms and just prefer a smooth rom with great battery life and some added features here and there. So my choices with that are basically FreeGS3 or Freeza's Fre3 rom (don't remember off the top of my head what exactly it is called). I have used both roms and they are both excellent.
Aokp cuz it's the best
Also using FreeGS, I've tried CM and AOKP and MIUI, keep coming back to this room for the motion features plus it just works!

Couldn't have said it better. FreeGS3 is the one. Performance, battery life and features are solid.
I'm not interested in flashy coloured ROMS with 3 breasted elves and tooted serpents, etc. Those things irritate me to no end.
freegs3 here too.. main reason was i wanted something stable, upgradable, unthemed, and it had options to NOT install tweaks i didn't want. very stable rom, battery life's great, does everything i need it to do.
Yeah I hate themed ROMs too, not to mention 95% of them look gaudy and make my eyes trickle blood.
I'm running LiquidSmooth for 2 reasons:
1. It's unimaginably smooth, like the UI is consistently at 60 FPS. The only time I ever notice slowdowns is when I scroll to the bottom of my apps from the Play Store while it's loading icons
2. I love the Nav Bar, coming from the Galaxy Nexus, and prior to that the iOS, it really changes how Android works. My last phone before I switched was the EVO 3D, before that the EVO 4G and then the Hero. The menu button was relevant then, but now it's really dumb guessing if an app has a menu or not. Even with the Nav Bar (set to 44p instead of the default 48p) it really doesn't use much of the screen. In fact makes it more comfortable for me to use one handed since I don't have to contort my thumb to the capacitive back button that is usually where my palm rests.
I like FreeGS3, but Samsung's implementation of the Nav Bar sucks, especially without the slide up for Google Now shortcut.
I questioned going back to the Nexus after a couple days with the GS3, because almost all ROMs on that are fully featured and are only without camera, MMS, etc. for a short amount of time, but LiquidSmooth has kept me for the long haul. Over the 3 years I've spent with Android, I never imagined it would be so fluid so soon. Not even CM or AOKP give me the same fluidity.
Currently on The People's Rom. Great options, almost weekly updates. Performance and battery life are great. (Used to run TPR on my OG Epic as well). The Nexus nav bar can be added to most roms by adding a line to the build prop.
I'm running FreeGS3 also. I've tried many of the other roms but keep coming back to it. I don't like the themed roms either, I prefer to just use morphology to change the things I want.

Exactly this, but I'm running Freeza's DeoDeoxed stock ROM. Love everything about TW..!
I run Odex Blue because I like TW functionality and the color blue and inverted apps. Also, steve is very responsive and has some great assistance that allows for fun options on an Odexed Rom.
I've been using the stock rom, I love things that AOKP can do (If you hate touchwiz and Samsung, I would go with AOKP) like emoji and stuff, but I find myself coming back to touchwiz because I like the features they did. They got it right for me so I stuck with it.

I'm running ParanoidAndroid. I love the ability to set custom dpi for each individual application... But unfortunately the developer just recently halted development... So I'm in the market for a new ROM, might check out PAC-man rom once it's stable.
I'm running Sacs23 new rom. Its light and fast. Plus he is also working on multi view option. Its new so I haven't test battery life yet but seems to be doing good so far.

Running Team Nocturnal's "Goodness" JB rom.
Using it because there are awesome devs (themers, coders, etc) working together every day on it so updates come regularly. It is stable, fast, smooth, has great battery, and the colors added are just right. It has options galore due to the built in updater so everything from lockscreen to notification bar can be changed. It integrates with Rom Toolbox as well. Has all the compatible 4.2 apps and latest features so it never feels like your phone is being left behind. Support in the thread is great as well due to the dedication of the devs/contributors to this rom.
Has anyone found a way to get the touchwhiz featurs on an aosp rom such as cyanogen. I would love cyanogen but i like sbeam alot
I switch ROMs daily (I need my fix...)
Different TW rom on weekdays, and asop on weekends :3

Been using clarks up until 2 weeks ago. Started using jellybombed then. As of 2days go its tpr. Now im in love with the peoples rom.
Its got a stock feel like clarks rom and it uses aroma installer so you can customize it the way you want it.
The biggest difference is the updates. You gotta stay on top. So kenny is da man right now.
I am using CM10 ROM stable. It has run pretty smooth thus far!

[Q] Recommend me a rom?

Not new to rooting here, recommend me a rom. AOSP is preferred, but not necessary. I am currently using NovaLauncher, so if a ROM already uses it, big plus. Battery life is the biggest concern, even though I have 3 extended batts that I rotate. Awesome cool gimicky features are also a plus. Thanks, guys!
Honestly, it's all a matter of opinion. The battery life for most roms will be around the same.
At the moment I'm using paranoid rom which I love being able to adjust the dpi of each individual app.
My advice is just try them all, and just nandroid backup so you can always go back to one you prefer more.

I would like to think that I've used almost all roms on my sprint note 2 they all have their pros and cons I was using Jellybomb for a while-so many options and mods-v15 will be released soon so you can add themes IMHO with all the mods and features it has it is the most stable. The down side for me was all the added apps almost made it seem as bloated as stock touchwiz, so I tried PAC man. Also very stable the dev is very responsive you get the very best of the best paranoid Android and cyanogen in one rom for those of us that just have to be on the latest and greatest version of Android 4.2.2. This is zero bloat as stock as Google makes for it's nexus devices. The down side is that you miss out on some of the features that make the note the awesome phablet that it is like multi-Window and the s-pen is basically a mouse. Currently I'm using NoWizAOSPmod v1.4.6 I get the best of both worlds, no bloat, multi-Window and s-pen support, several aosp features and Google wallet. Been using it for about a week with no issues so far. Best thing to do is try them out as long as you remember to back up your current rom heck try them all out I'm fairly new to roming so the hardest thing for me was all the reading and searching. Sorry for the long winded post but hope it helps.

@op I use Carbon rom religiously and you can use an app called "write" for a s-pen like app and gps works over 3g but seems to go to "searching for gps " when switching to lte so I just use gps over 3g and has worked fine. Mms works for me with stock app, I just flip on data and send and receive pics.. I have been using the Carbon nightlies for a while and am more than happy.

Right now i'm torn between Macsrom Allstar 3.5 and AOKP build 6. Macsrom is AOSP and keeps all my features but isn't as customizable as the AOKP. If i can figure out how to theme Macsrom i'll be staying with that. It does have some neat features and good battery life. Anyways i would just make a backup and start flashing different roms till you find one that works for you. I'm new to this and it's all pretty straight forward.
NOWIZAOSPMOD is awesome, I've been using it for a month or so now and love it. I waited a long time to flash a new rom because I like the samsung features espceially with the s-pen and multi-window. This rom is awesome because it looks and feels like the AOSP but has the samsung features that I wanted to hold on to. I highly recommend it!
I really like DigiBlur -- it's a debloated TW ROM with some really nice tweaks and mods. I use Nova to get around the crippling of TW due to all the lawsuits. He just updated the ROM to MC2 and it runs very nice.
Pac man rom 4.3

[Q]Why are you running stock-based OR CM/AOKP-based rom?

I'd like some input from you guys that have tried both stock-based and CM/AOKP-based roms. What features of stock do you miss if you're on CM/AOKP? Or, what features of CM/AOKP do you miss if you're on stock-based rom?
My last phone (lost it, didn't have insurance) was the HTC One X...I usually prefer the customization potential of CM/AOKP, but for the One X at the time, the battery life on stock-based was FAR superior to CM, so I had to go with stock for work purposes.
What are your experiences with the GS2?
Stock, because every AOSP rom I've tried has horrible call quality and I've tried every trick in the book to fix it. I also like using mass storage instead of mtp, alarm clock and music player from touchwiz. Bluetooth is also more reliable. I do miss the aokp clock, it doesn't work quite right on touchwiz.
The main advantage of aokp is that it's more up to date, but the differences between 4.1 and 4.2 are pretty negligible.

I also have a hard time living without theme chooser.

AOKP all the way - I think it comes down to one thing for me...Speed... Running other launchers like Nova, the live wallpapers, animations, transitions on AOKP vs TouchWiz is really noticeable. The TW framework seems to slow the whole phone down. The stock dialer/messaging app on TW is slow and clunky compared to AOSP/AOKP. Plus there's the theme chooser, or lack of themes for TW.
I want to like TW, I really do - I tried all the available ROMS with different combos of kernels, and no matter what I do, it just seems clunky in my eyes. I miss SOME TW apps and functionality, but if I bought the S4, I'd go the route of the AOSP version.
Wifi calling, it's the only reason.

Using Stock Rom JB 4.1.2
JB 4.1.2 stock is very stable, i have try several Custom Roms JB4.2.2 to the point i flash phone almost very day and i wnet back to stock, here are the reason why:
I use Video chat [hang out and talk], this does not work in any JB custom ROM.
USB to PC gives me the correct transfer speed, Custom ROMS either does not work or if it work transfer data very slow or gets stuck
Video share to smart TV i can simply play the video from my phone to my smart TV in Seconds, i have not see this feature to work with Custom ROM w/o getting a 3rd party app.
Battery Life in stock is better than custom ROMS in my case.
these are the main reason i sue stock ROM.

[Q] Any new 4.2.2 touchwiz roms out there?

all I've been able to find are aosp, aokp CM based roms...
while I understand the customizability of CM is superb and the vanilla Google platform is great... I've grown accustomed to many touchwiz based features since having both vibrant and now gs3 and want all my gs3/touchwiz motion and swiping goodies to work correctly n would like a good gs4 ported Rom based off of 4.2.2 if one exists.
There aren't any 4.2.2 Touchwiz roms that I know of for our device.
Nope.
You can buy an S4.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
thanks captain obvious. lol
I wonder what the limitation is with bringing an s4 Rom over to the s3?
in any case.... what then are some of your favorite 4.2.2 CM builds out there folks?
also, are there any aokp/aosp rooms with similar dialers and contacts features available on touchwiz like Swype -> to call <- to text contacts etc? any cm bulls keep gs3 specific motion features like calling contacts displayed on screen just by putting phone to the ear etc?
If you want touchwiz features then flash a touchwiz rom. The op of every aosp rom will tell you that.
On another note, my favorite aosp rom is liquid smooth, the latest version gives me amazing battery (over 4 hours screen on time). My favorite TW rom is S3Rx. Has tons of customization and also great battery life.
Edit: the aosp MMS apk has the ear to dial feature you want though. You have to turn that on in the settings.
As far as I know, only one country has got 4.2.2 on the international s3. Itll be a while before we see much for 4.2.2 tw. There's no s4 ports for the same reasons there's no international s3 ports I'm sure. The hardware difference makes porting difficult, and most who can do it will probably be working on things that are more unique. There's probably little that distinguishes 4.1.2 tw from 4.2.2 tw. That's my best guess anyway.
Closest you'll likely find for now is Universe S4.

thanks fellas, I really appreciate the responses... I think I'll give each of those a test drive across the next few weeks and see if any suit my likes and needs..
oh... I've last question is about flashing cm based roms... the "wipe" is no different from the other roms right? it will leave my sd partition with pictures and personal downloads alone right?
Or will it try to reformat and repartition everything meaning I need to completely back up all onboard memory to the computer?

Its the same but you should always back up your important files, better safe than sorry

Switching between TW (4.1.2) and cm/aosp (4.2.2) will mess with the layout of your internal storage. Look up android 4.2 0 folder.

OP im in the same boat as you.
i like the cheesey TW features. i like the swipe to capture screen, telling my camera to take a picture, and esp. the sbeam touching the back of the phones.
i know NFC works with others but you cant send big files. TW and sbeam transfers huge files no problems.
Thats the only reason why i havnt changed

[Q] TouchWiz And S Pen Support

Currently I'm running NB4 and 4.4.2. I'm running AOSP with Slimkat, and multiple apps to make the S Pen usable again. However, I'm looking to switch to TouchWiz but I'm wondering if there is ROM compatible with my device that has an AOSP theme. Or perhaps the UI is just different enough to not look like TouchWiz. I'm trying to get full S Pen Support just like stock, so those apps need to come with the ROM. Also if it's debloated that would be great too in addition to having 4k recording and a great camera app.
I've looked around in our forums but need some suggestions, this isn't a which is the best thread, it's looking for TouchWiz ROMS that may have different theme options close to AOSP, compatible with my device, and all the features and apps from stock. I was interested in X Note, but apparently it's not supported on our device.
Thank you for your time.
Would this work?
