[ROM 4.2.2] AOKP "nightlys" 6-9-2013 - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I, nor anyone any one am responsible for what you do to your phone. You did it all on your own. THIS IS FOR THE T999 T-Mobile S III. I'm sure it'll work on the variants (Wind, Mobilicity, Videotron Samsung Galaxy S III) no guarantees ever on anything ... I DID NOT MAKE THIS ROM... I DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO CONTRIBUTE, JUST SHARING

If this is at all a problem I apologize, and will remove all links and ask for the thread to be killed immediately.
The creator of the rom RomanBB Is one of the main reason AOKP exist, along side with Whitehawkx and many others. They don't usually post builds here on XDA and I came across this build somehow. Either way, I've flashed it and it is running great on my end, so far.
This is no longer just a RomanBB build, this is an AOKP nightly, even though it's every 3 days or so it seems.
It has the latest kernel (3.4.41) and is so far running great for me.

Just wondering if anyone knew that Roman was building AOKP builds for D2TMO? I'm sure no one does cause his upload for today only has 8 downloads. Anywho, he's one of the top devs for AOKP and is pretty good at it too lol. I'm not flashing this as I'm sure most of you know I test for DeviantXone so I'm busy enough... If you guys want here it is report your findings and I'll update this as needed if it happens to blow up... So long as he nor the mods care... If so I'll report this to be shutdown.

No ill feelings to Jamison as he's doing great work, which immensely appreciated.

I agree that RomanBB does excellent work. He was my favorite dev for the My Touch 4G Slide before he sold it and we lost arguably the best dev we had for that device. Thank you for sharing!

He's one of the main Devs for aokp lol, not only does he compile it, he is one of the main contributors for AOKP being among android lol.

Thanks for this! Do you know of a change log anywhere? I'd like to see how it differs from mr1.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

I don't at the moment. If I can come up with one when I make it back to my PC I will post it, but I doubt there will be one. If anything, I can follow the gerrit and github and report what I find for noticeable changes.
Would really help if there was any feedback lol.
1. Battery charge state
0-14: red
15-69: orange
70-99: yellow
100: solid green
2. What I think I read, LED brightness can be altered wtihin ROM control.
3. Multiple camera bugs fixed
4. Updated kernel
....all assumption with in the build, I might flash it to confirm things later tomorrow night after work, if I have the energy...

Thanks so much man. I followed roman since the Sgs days. He and his partner (whitehawx) who is also one of the main contributors to aokp were my favorites. When the gnex first came out they jumped ship and went there. I loved aokp on this phone but never felt the actual quality that roman would out into his ROMs. Not sayings others haven't done a great job but his roms are the reason I started rooting in the first place. He's got awesome codjng skills. Anyways. You made my day with this post.

A long time ago I known the posted non rootzwiki but dont they have a separate aokp site where this ROM is posted with change logs and discussion. I know xda really killed it for them. Eugene 373 also was/is a great dev. Knows his stuff and was able to crank out some awesome things. Also got killed by xda drama. Don't know if he still posts on these forums anymore

Have you tried it out? You seem to have more time than me. ( starting new orientation in med surg/ emergency dept) as well as taking nursing pre reqs. ) no time anymore to be a flashaholic. Just this post alone took me all day to hit submit as I kept getting interrupted.

I'll flash this tonight and give full feedback on everything with screens and clean up the OP I won't maintain this as if it was my own personal or anything, cause its not. But I will try to help out the community and this will be a 100% support system where everyone can chime in, and b.s. with help and stuff lol.
And yes MonkeyPaws I have way more time then you probably lol. I work usually 3 days a week to get my 40 and then I have the rest of the week to myself and my dog lol. Might take a class or two at a Community College to boost my self esteem though lol.

I think I've seen you in the wicked thread quite a bit, so I'm assuming you've ran wicked for awhile. I've been wanting to try this out, but haven't jumped up to Android 4.2 yet cuz I don't wanna mess with possible issues. How are you liking it?
I've followed Romanbb since his first mods were ported over to the htc amaze before aokp was a thing, and when it was released I wanted it so bad. I know I can just make some backups, and I probably will, but I was just wondering your thoughts and if you'll stick with aokp for awhile. Thanks!

Not me in those threads. I stay away from TouchWiz for the most part. I used to be a huge AOKP person, but I've moved on. I suggest the rom to people for sure, it is running great has awesome features and stable. Not too many bells and whistles but enough to make it your own rom for sure.

Way to go Bubby! I see he's actually reaching out to the dev who released the alpha version of CM9 today. Collaboration between the two might allow us to see a better release. Can't wait!

bubby also tried reaching out to me as well, wanted to beta test it for me. amazing on how hes stayed quiet these past few weeks hiding and avoiding everyone. yet now that someone put out a cm9 build here he is again.
idk why its taking him so long to release it.. didnt he claim to have a fully working cm9 ages ago on ustream and was gunna release it on the 15th?
This is going to come out sounding derogatory and flame-ish, so remember that I have acknowledged that after reading my following comment, and that it is only meant to be a criticism.
If I were a developer that had any aspirations of building a version of CM 9 that would eventually become officially supported by CM, I would be weary of enlisting Bubbys help. Not because of any prior history (as some of you are probably putting in my mouth right now), but simply because of his work.
Does bubby have a working build of CM7? Sort of. Is it on the right path to CM compliance? I don't think so, no. What he has right now is something that looks and smells like CM, but is mostly held together by hacks, code that doesn't belong to this phone, and various other kangs.
Bubby appears to be the kind of developer focused only on what the user sees, which I suppose is an attribute applicable in certain use cases; in the interest of being accepted into the CM community, however, I do not believe Bubby follows the guidelines or practices required to attain such a goal. Judging by what he has released so far, he is building something that looks and acts like Cyanogenmod, but isn't actually Cyanogenmod.
To put it in simpler terms:
Bubby -is to- Real Developer
as
Script Kiddie -is to- Real Hacker
The end results from each can appear to be the same, but when given a closer look they're very different.

This is the comment I was afraid of.
I am not one of those "you people" you speak of, and I shouldn't be, because I was in no way personally hurt or burned by Bubby. I have nothing against the kid.
Please re-read my comment, do some research on what it takes to properly build CM, then take a closer look at Bubby's work.
EDIT: not to mention my post was completely on-topic, considering this thread was started with a screenshot of Bubbys tweet mentioning he was reaching out to a dev.

bubby is a glory hound. he hasn't been heard of ina few weeks, sbrissen releases a cm9 build, and all of a sudden he wants to help. Just likehe wanted to "help" with cm7, when he took everyone's work and pawned it off as his own. Why do people think he is such a good developer? /rant
Y'all need to quit stirring up all this old drama:
Bubby's builds have worked just fine for me, and if it comes down to me waiting around for the guys at CM to deem what time it is when they finally decide to release an official build, or flashing something that works as described right now, well, I'm gonna flash what's available now.
Bubby just offered to provide all those fixes for this Alpha, and was turned down, I guess because of some stupid pride issue: Some people need to get over themselves, and put this together as a team, or guess what's next:
The build that DOES work will be released at Root wiki instead of XDA (again), just like CM7 was....
Is that what you all want?
(I don't really mind, because I have no problem with Bubby or Rootzwiki, I just thought it'd be nice to see XDA have it here instead of there, but maybe it's just me.)

So the KeyTracker app might pop up a value to edit if you long-press back...or so I'd hope.

They have to keep fixing stuff because..... they're nightlies. Do you not understand the definition of what a nightly is? For stable releases you want RC1/2/3/stable builds which is not yet available for CM10.
These people are developing for the ROM for FREE. There is no price tag. Unless you want to give them full-time salaries to make the ROM stable for over 20+ devices at the same time.... don't complain.
It's a nightly and is generated from CM source on a daily basis (which at this rate... official CM10 nightlies aren't even out... it is "kanged" from the jelly bean tree)
maybe he meant cyanogen as a team or something? Doesn't really matter as he's not required to like CM. I haven't used CM in over two years, are you going to crucify me? He's asking if a feature is available outside of CM, try to stay on topic.

He said "Cyanogen's work".... in standard english, that is pointing towards Cyanogen personally. Otherwise it would of been worded differently.
I never said he's required to "like" CM but no matter what ROM you're using, those ROMs will be using some code from CyanogenMod in some way or some how.
No one is in a position to bash or dislike CyanogenMod because they truly care about the Android community. They maintain over 20+ devices and provide updates to previous generation phones whereas manufacturers of their phone won't even bother to update.
Many phones don't even have ICS.... you know what? CM provides ICS. Many phones don't even have JB yet... you know what? CM provides JB.
Hating or disliking it CyanogenMod is like disliking a non-profit organization helping the world. In the end, they have good goals and make the community go into a certain direction that most users appreciate.
You don't have to like it, but don't blatantly say that you don't like their work. If he wants that feature, then pick a ROM and suggest it to the OP to include it. It's that simple. Jelly Bean is still new. Many features aren't in in the ROMs. It will come as time progresses.
But please don't say that you don't like someones work and then talk about it being buggy because they release NEW nightlies when in fact official CM10 nightlies aren't even starting. This is all being kanged from CM10 source by third-party group/individuals.
Unless you're a developer, you are not in a position to criticize a developer's work.

How is CM9 not fully functional? I've used it for a long time before JB and it is functional with speed--this also takes into account of CM9 for OTHER PHONES. Galaxy Nexus is not the only phone that CM9/10 supports. They're still maintaining CM7 as well. Let's see you maintain a ROM for 20+ devices based off code on Android 2.3.X, Android 4.0.X, 4.1.X.

Woo-Howdy.
Normally I'd complain. But the three face-palms might have been worth it.
CyanogenMod is THE rom to beat as far as stability goes.
It always has been.
Don't think they're pushing out "feaures" fast enough on CM9/10? That's because they're busy under the hood.
Tuning and tweaking every minute little inconsistency.
As far as "broken" features: I never saw any. And again, those are nightlies.
The build-bot builds them automatically. Half-merged patches ARE a possibility as the other pieces may be being worked on or awaiting approval.
Is CM my preferred Rom?
No. But I respect what the team has done for Android.
Who knows. Without the big-boss stepping up: We might not be where we are today.

Cyanogenmod is FREE and made by a team of developers out of passion. If you don't like it, don't whine about it -- go compile your own rom instead of embarrassing yourself to the community by acting like an ungrateful entitled noob.
So everyone has to like CM cause it's developed with passion and cause you guys like it?

[ROM][Blended] GB Rocket - GS2ET - Abridged version

Hi fellow XDAers,
It have been picking the best of both working Droid roms that has come down lately from Sprint to get phone in working order.. Instead of working from ICS backwards, I've worked GB forwards on the main parts... Forgive the choppy sentences... Not enough coffee yet lol
1. Odin'd back to EL29 OTA proper and rooted. Which rebooted.
2. Odin'd the FF18 modem. Rebooted.
3. Re installed a few utilities - ghost commander, quick reboot, Ti (to pull zipped apk's of the better parts of ff18 and email them to my laptop. whet I plan to integrate them. Also planning to do the same once I get the GB portion s downloaded)
4. Integrate into new ICS or JB stock ota
So far got 1 & 2 completed. Running to the hospital for a bit to visit my mom and then have to do some house work (a woman's work is never done.... I hate cleaning! lol)
Then back to my geekdom (for world domination (j/k))
And see if I can make headway on next items..
Screen print attached.
EDIT: speed test, battery shots jusy attached

Yea, GB true ota from sprint rooted. Keeping the true «approved» so when they do get their act together and come out with a stable version that it won't fubar my phone like it did before.

Not so much a ROM but more a back-working of ICS to see where its breaking down. Consider it a "Bandaid" to transitional development towards ICS.

@ rocket. Thanks for the hard work. I try every room out there and tweaks and rarely comment but this people taking trash here should stay away. Once your work is available if they don't like it then just move asking, I never talk trash on their treads even when some roms out there should only be themes. Your project is actual development and not just changing colors. Really hoping to see this working soon.

Actually, I think the OP is running an EL29 rom with all the apps she wants in the ROM, and then will wait for official OTA ICS/JB update, and then release that as her rom....?
Thats how I understood it. Not really development, but hey, I'm not a MOD....

No, i'm not releasing it as my own ROM... That would be illegal, now wouldn't it... Please read the entire thread. I am reverse envineering it to make it work with what was stable in GB EL29. And thought I would share to be kind to the other SSGS2ET owners who just got screwed by sprints preemptive release of ICS 4.0.4.
If a Mod want to change the title and remove the word ROM that's fine by me.
I'm just trying to give a hand.

Thank you!! See there is a voltage issue that keeps turning off 4G when on wifi... There's also a runaway program that i'm still trying to find and change the timing on so it doesn't use up the battery and there is also something that prevents reattachment to Ti for one thing and that its goggles fault for changing the key with every install... Most apps can handle it but there are slot that don't recognize the phone and creates a problem especially if you've paid for it... its the guts basically that is causing the problem sort of like crossed wires throwing voltage.
Hope this helps, and when I get a chance, I will write a proper dissertation for those that don't unbend and insist on flaming me.

This argument should really be handled with PM's, not in somebody else's thread. I try my best not to get in the middle of things, but this is getting ridiculous. If you don't agree that it's development then report the thread and let the mods decide, don't attack the OP's spelling and time with XDA.
My Wicked Sensations rom is one of the roms that people are referring to as more of a theme and not development and I agree with them. But every phone section has themed roms just like this section. I don't consider myself a developer, and I have stated that on many occasions. I just try to share something that I like with others. But I do respect everyone else's work and don't insult it. If I don't like it, I move on.
So please respect somebody else's thread and don't trash it up this way.
I've cleaned this thread. However, it will remain closed for now. "Placeholder" threads are not allowed. As you probably seen why. Once a download link is provided and verified, then it will be opened.
Until then, I'm serious about what I said when I talk about it spilling over. Vacations will be handed out (again) if it continues. I don't care who you are, how many times you have pm'd me, how cool you think "you and me" are. Rules are rules.

Me and Apoph have teamed up to bring you Lean AOKP. It is the complete AOKP experience, except further debloated, faster, and smaller. You get all the same features with a smaller, faster ROM. It will be updated with the lastest version of AOKP, compiled at the very least weekly, but most likely more than that :}
We would like to give big credits to AOKP Team, Snuzzo, and New . They are basically this project, everything do is greatly appreciated and we love their work. Please say thanks to them for this ROM. It is their work that made this. Feel free to stop by their site and donate, or just simply say thanks and browse around. They're a great bunch of people.

+1. I'd like some more information or a website or something. What all has been done? This is just a "debloated" AOKP?
Debloated AOKP sounds rad and TBH I think a lot of people would be fine with just that, but the improved data speeds claim seems sketchy.

edit: link posted below
http://mygalaxywonder.blogspot.com/2012/06/increase-internet-speed-in-any-android.html
Let me start off by saying this. Anyone who has been following my merged builds knows I have never ever claimed to be a developer. I even straight out said that in the aokp nightly thread. We do the best we can as we learn. As we learn we will get to do more things. This is a learning experience. These are pretty much builds that I use for myself and I decided to share. We appreciate all the hard work that is done behind closed doors from AOKP. They do some amazing things with code. We try to improve on the build by getting rid of some of the apks and doing init.d and build.prop tweaks. I would eventually like to add aroma to this so that people can choose what they want installed and what they want to leave out. So do NOT be mistaken about what we do. I have never let anyone believe I was a developer. EVER.

Yeah that may be best. They definitely don't improve signal (really only radios can and that's negligible) and only may improve speed. Don't want to taint the op with false claims.

when i was using it i got 4g in a spot where i originally only got 1 bar of 3g. that may have been other circumstances, but your a dev (like apoph said i in no way claim to be a dev) so you know more than i do lol. i took it down from OP, but kept in the build.prop cause hey what the hll, it cant hurt lol
I just want to point out that how many tweaks have people claimed were placebo? Linaro, entropy mod, build.prop tweaks. There hasnt been one mod out there (except maybe zeppelinrox's mod) that someone hasnt claimed its placebo. So in the long run of things Im not to worried about it. If I leave the tweak in there maybe I will put supposed to increase signal.

Most Twiz ROMs are already up to MA7, and are either testing or waiting for another firmware update before putting more effort in.
Believe me. LJC to MA7 may seem minor... But Samsung completely changed where and how thing on the ui end worked in a substantial pita way... and the thought of having to re invent the wheel yet again is not a pleasant one.

It's mostly cuz of the 4.1.1 - 4.1.2 android core changes, and preparing TW for it's update. It'll make the OTA from the current TW to the new TW more reliable with less issues.

i know the asop roms are updated nightly.. i meant theme wise concept wise etc seems like sprint phones dont have as many options as some of the other carriers or could just be the note 2 .. s3 had tons and most of the evo's i had

makes sense and i can imagine how hard it is dont think i could ever make my own
I think you might see alot of different ROMs for other devices, due to the number of devices the manufacturer makes. Like when I had an Evo and Evo3D. Devs were porting any new update, or new features from other multiple HTC devices.
The thing is, we have a device that is King of the Hill for now. Made by a manufacturer, that doesn't make a ton of different devices for every carrier. HTC and other manufacturers are starting to follow suit. Making one or two big devices across all carriers. Instead of numerous different models on all different carriers.

My thoughts were it could be that sprints LTE network isn't going as smooth as predicted. And with if tmobile meets their LTE target and has 200 cities covered by the end of year. I know I was looking into making a switch. When I had the epic 4G. A popular dev on that side left. Because his service sucked so much. I don't know if its a factor for every dev. I'm sure each has made that decision for what works best in there area. But I can't imagine a slow network attracting the most devs.
Yeah but seeing some of the other numbers from the other three that 400kbps on lte. Looks like sprint will be in trouble.

Basically the same here. Using Whomp along with Morphology (thanks to Mack for the port) there isn't much else a rom could do for me until KLP comes out. At this point (and I'm NOT trying to take away from anyone's current work) most *new* roms are just re-skins of the same work that we already have access to.
Ummm I may be a little partial an didn't wanna say anything cuz I'm doing some of the work. . But since nobody mentioned us.. the labrats rom is getting fairly themed. Half dozen color options or so.. more added daily or weekly. .
The guys leave it stock tweaked so its not themed from the start.
