Just try to change different roms regularly and it will all be fine. Don't keep one rom too long, don't let the nexus grow fond of it or it will take more time to adapt to new ones.

Since it is taboo to ask developers for any sort of ETA, lets circle-jerk - so to speak - over the release date of CM9.

That would be sick if at least a RC was released before the end of the month
It will release before the GN hits EOL.

I'll be optimistic,
TOMORROW!
To be honest, i'm really not worried about CM9 due to the fact that the devs are pushing out some great roms and are updating them regularly, so i can wait on CM9, no big rush
Damn, so many people don't like having fun.
The roms out are great, thats for sure, but there are a lot of features from CM7 that I want, hopefully they are implemented.
Where is the never option?

I approve of this message.
But seriously, I don't think there is any huge difference between roms. And between all the "this is the best ever ever Eva ever Eva ever Eva rom for battery" posts and threads who wants to get tangible data?

If you are going to let your phone set for 3 days, why even have a smartphone.
This is what I was thinking of doing, but forgive me for asking this. If I root the GN will I be able to update it when any of the updates come out? I was thinking that rooting wouldn't allow me to do this. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I just got my nexus, running stock on android 4.0.2 with the extended battery.
I'm getting about 4-5 hours tops before the phone is dead.

....GS3 is not far behind. And/or one of our brilliant dev's will port that bad boy to our beloved gs3's and we'll finally get some stable Jelly Bean goodness. (not that flashing nightlies hasn't been fun)

Doesn't help us much. Different chip set and hardware. May help with the 4g settings though.

I'm not even going to think about a 4.1 upgrade until the international version's upgrade is released, seeing how it takes a solid few weeks for Sprint to upgrade the Nexus after the GSM upgrade is out.

Actually it looks like some good stuff is happening over here on this thread. The brilliant Mr. Myn is cooking up some goodness for us based on tmo 4.1 leak. He ported a TW pre-build of 4.1 with very minimal bugs. And now according to the thread, there may be another leak that may fix those bugs. Either way, looks like things are coming together quite nicely. Have a look:

I have a fix for the lagginess in builds from the past week and a half or so. The culprit is the surface flinger library. It is the android compositing system and some changes recently made to it are responsible for the significant lag in recent builds. Most noticeable spot is if you hit the home button if you have the notification drawer down. It becomes extremely laggy without this patch. Scrolling is also less smooth whenever multiple things on the screen are being drawn. This fixes all those issues.
Just flash this in cwm or whatever recovery you choose. Should work on all cm10 builds and cm10 based roms like paranoid android.

Thanks for this! The lag was literally the only thing that kept me going back to JellyBelly. I love me some CM!
Thought this might be another placebo thing but damn, this really works! The usual spots of minor lag like scrolling the app lists in the play store, gmail, play music are now smooth as eggs.
Good job, man.

Hi guys, just wanted to share this that I found over the N5 Forum.
Looks like they pulled the optimized libs from the Moto X and created a flashable zip.
I'm using KitKang and flashed this... Phone feels more responsive.

I just read that entire thread as well as watched a posted video comparison on it. My verdict from all of that is this doesn't do much and ART fully trumps it as far as performance boost. That is my conclusion on it for the Nexus 5. I would imagine it does nothing on the Galaxy Nexus seeing as we have a completely different chipset.
Not trying to be discouraging, by all means if someone wants to do a thorough testing of this mod and give some feedback on the contrary I will absolutely eat my words, but from all that has been spoken about the mod on that thread It looks like ART is still the better choice.
Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention though, it's always good to have different options.
