Stress fractures on battery door! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Anyone else having this problem? I have noticed two of these star shaped fractures on my battery door. There is one on each side of the phone right below the GALAXY NOTE II logo. I have never dropped my phone, so im thinking this probably has more to do with crappy materials.

It's only thin plastic. I don't think I notice anything like that on mine.

stress fracture
I have had that happen twice to me also and i have case protector. Went to a sprint store and they replace back for me maybe they will do the same for u if u go to one.

Looks like an impact mark not a stress fracture. Notice the central point with the fractures radiating outward from it. Stress fractures would show up as semi parallel lines running perpendicular to the point of origin, so if the stress was caused by flexing vertically the fractures would run horizontally.

Not had that happen either...though I replaced the stock El Cheapo plastic door a little while back with a metal one, because of battery-door-creak that was driving my batty.
I still cannot believe how much replacements are for that cheapo plastic door.

I have this as well in the same 2 locations

I have similar stress/impact marks on the bottom of my gn2 too! Doesn't really big me cause I have a case on it and its not visible unless you are looking for them.

I also have this in the same spot

I have seen this on two friends phones
One white...really bad
One gray..same spots
I noticed that the stress near the bottom lines up with the raised area on the inside of the cover (nfc?)
Up top there isnt much other than the camera.
Both were able to get swaps

Did they get hole new devices or just battery covers
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app

Seems silly for me to have to ask this...but why exactly would they get new devices?
They got new back covers

I didnt think someone would get a new device for this but you never know. I have had my phone switch for cosmetic problems. But this is more simple its removable. I am going to bring mine to sprint tomorrow and see if they give a new cover because mine has 3 cracks that look the same.

Hell I'd be less annoyed about stress fractures in the cover than by battery-cover-creak-noise.

So just go to the Sprint Store?
So I can get my back cover replaced for free?
even though it's my own fault getting these cracks?
because my phone has one crack across the phone below the NFC tag and I would love to get it replaced for free.
thanks

Gap on right between glass & bezel

I’ll post some pics later, but wondering if anyone else has a gap between the glass and bezel on the right side of the phone? The left side seems pretty flush with the glass.

Mines like that too. I thought it was normal. I was worried about crud getting in the crack but its been fine and doesn't affect anything on the phone.
I just tried to take a macro shot of it and had no luck. Wonder if I should swap it out. Really don't want to get stuck with one that actually has an issue.
i'm more worried about dust under the glass. having that gap, i'm sure it will

Closer inspection shows there is some dust in there but not a lot at all. I have 8 days to decide on swapping it. Don't know how many returns wirefly allows.

To be fair, there is a tiny (I mean really tiny) gap on both sides but nothing that looks out of place. It appears it's by design.
Yours appears to be much worse.

I pulled my case off just to check and i have a very noticeable gap on the left and bottom sides of my screen. Its not enough of a reason for me to exchange it but its there. I always have the body glove case on so i dont ever see it
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
I believe that these small gaps are by design, seriously. Think about the dispersion of shock when the device hits the ground. If it was perfectly flush with the
metal it would be way more likely to crack instantly..with the gap some energy escapes giving the glass a small but crucial release of pressure.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300133&highlight=quadrant
Seems to he pretty common. I personally dont have the issue or any issues build wise on my current phone. Its risky because I think I can only exchange one time.
Yeah. That's what I'm worried about. Going in to exchange it tomorrow morning and gonna check the hell out of the phone before I leave the store.
I noticed it more today when I got my TPU case and the right side would get caught up on the gap.
Better pics of the gap. one of the left with the smallest gap and one of the right like grand canyon (ok...may not as big, but close )

Who removed their "Digital by Qualcomm" sticker

Its on the top left of the device. Just curious because i always forget about this "digital by Qualcomm" sticker until sometimes months of having a device. I just removed it and now i have a matted spot i can't get to shine! Ahhh! Lol I'm sure it'll work itself out tho.
So who likes it, who hates it and who could give a rats a**?

Yeah I typically remove mine the minute they show any lift from the casing, which is usually pretty early on. The few times I waited longer to remove them I did end up with a sticky spot, drove me insane.

I removed mine. Stickers annoy me. Just rub the residue off if any is left behind, and you're good to go!
Of course I remove all stickers, for this exact reason, that in a few months down the road, it will look stupid when you remove it.
My phone has lived in various cases since day 1, never noticed it
a little off-topic, but my wifes aunt and uncle always leave the stickers on all there new appliances. They recently bought a couple new flatscreens and refuse to take the stickers off the screens and base of the tvs and it annoys the piss out of me.

I have the blue version and haven't had any issue. If the place you got it from doesn't replace it they are making custom backs that aren't too expensive. I heard of a metal back being sold a few weeks ago for those of us who don't particularly like the plastic look and feel of the original. I think it was like $10 or $12.

Looks like pressure damage to the oled. Has he sat on it? Or kept it in tight pockets while sitting? Under seatbelt buckle in car? Etc the pink on oled/LCD screens is usually bleed from damage, but can also occur from extreme temps especially going from extreme cold into hot inside in the winter as the liquid inside the screen starts to freeze around 28°F if the device is off.

[Q] Is It Plausible To "Sand" The Body Of The S3?

Long story short, I've got some minor damage to my S3 in which the paint has scrapped off. I see underneath it has a pretty sleek looking black body. I was thinking of getting some high grain sandpaper and just sanding the entire body down to the black. Possibly even getting a clear finish plastic paint and painting so it's smooth.
Do you guys think it's plausable? Anyone done this successfully?
Been thinking about doing it for a few weeks. Finally getting around to asking on here. Maybe I'll make it a weekend project..
I don't see why you couldn't as long as you didn't go crazy sanding it. I'd try on the battery cover first cause if it looks bad battery covers are only a few bucks on amazon.

I think op is talking about the bezel.
I personally wouldn't do it since the phone is basically plastic and glass. But hey, its your phone, do whatever you want to it.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Why bother with all that?
Just buy a glossy black TPU cover for it. Pick one that's glossy black
The case will hide the damage perfectly and protect the phone from further bezel damage.
I like TPU over silicone because of its high gloss, low bulk and I can remove it easily from my pockets.

Yes, I'm talking about the entire phone (body and cover). It's not a lot of surface area to cover. I'm not talking about removing the glass and sanding down the front face.

I don't care about the damage, honestly, its' not bad. It's more for the look. As for TPU case....I HATE cases. I think they look ugly, regardless of how sleek they are. I like my phone to look the way it was designed.
So I was thinking about using 220-240 for initial sanding and then like 600 for smoothing.
My only concern is trying to find an effective way to cover the tiny space between the screen and the bezel. I don't want it to fill up with particles.
I didn't say you were going to remove the front glass. I said the phone is mainly made up of plastic and glass.
