HELP PLEASE t889V stuck on Samsung logo - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi Guys need help bad. I hope I didnt screw my phone up.
I rooted my phone using the latest toolkit and installed twrp. Once i did that I backed up everything including efs on the external card.
Once i did that I flashed Jedi x rom but did not have much signal so decided to flash another rom which was liquid smooth. Once I flashed it again
my signal was almost non existent. I downloaded a canadian modem in the zip file and flashed it using twrp the same way i would flash a rom.
After i did that i wiped all the data and cache and the system. As I was rushing it siince its late at night i got a message saying that I am not rooted. I ignored it and rebooted the system and now its stuck on samsung logo. What can i do? Please help!!!!!
It appears that when I hold vol up plus home plus power I can get into download mode. I hope that helps.
Can someone give me some help how to get it back to life. I am pretty sure I have to use Odin at this point but dont know how

Ok i did some reading and I think the next step is to download stock image for the wind mobile turn on Odin and upload the image to the phone..
What settings should I use in Odin? What should be checked at the top and am I to use PDA only?

You can use odin or just reflash the ROM. You said tout wiped system after flashing the modern. That means you erased what ever ROM was on there. It's sticking at Samsung because there is no ROM to boot into.

Well I cant get into TWRP and dont know how to flash a ROM through ODIN? I am total newb at this.
Could you give me some pointers once I open up odin what do i need to do ? Thanks

Have you puked the battery. Put it back in then held volume+, home and power? Your recovery should still be there.
Also, odin is easy. Just open it and click the pda box and put your stock ROM there. Two things make sure you put your image in PDA and PDA ONLY and make sure it's your official stock Image

Yup went back to ODIN and flashed stock image and everything is now working great. I assume that I need to root the phone again before attempting to flash any roms again. I guess it was late at night and like you said I wiped the rom and there was nothing to boot into. I am an idiot!
Thanks for your quick help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so here's my next question.
In order to root again do i use the toolkit again or simply just download the pre-rooted rom and flash it with Odin? Which one would be better just
to get root again? Thanks!

When I did this approach, I did it in two steps. I downloaded factory image of the firmware and flashed the device by using Odin 3.0.7.
Next, I used a tool package called "Galaxy Note2 ToolKit." Follow the instructions for how to root.
When I did the procedure, the software also had an option to include clockworkmod recovery
and busybox.

Would Rerooting help?

So somehow someway my phone is on the "Galaxy S 2 Yellow triangle with exclamation mark" screen and wont boot up.
I simply wiped factory reset, and dalvik ( coming from Caulks Rom ) and then flashed Blazer Rom 3.7 and it never went past that screen.
My question is can i simply re root on my mac and would my phone go back to stock rooted OS? Or do I have to restore it through Odin?
Note I did backup my previous rom!
Sorry forgot to mention I cant access recovery either! I hold down volume up and power and nothing just stays on the yellow triangle screen...

Get calks format all ...flash it and then go to advanced and wipe system and then flash new ROM .... If it still doesn't work check md5 on the ROM that it's a good download if it's not redownload and flash ....you can always restore your back up

I would definitely recommend going this route. Follow the instructions in this thread it will help you to install ACS (CWM) Recovery.

for future reference recovery is volume Up + power. not down.
From the sounds of it id say you may need to flash more than the kernal I was in a similar situation where my recovery wouldnt work and I couldnt boot into the rom and I had to flash back to stock through Odin to get it working again. Then after that I re rooted and flashed a rom.

Im not sure, when it happened to me there wasnt a way. Its really simple though I mean when I did it I was back up and running, rerooted, and running a rom in about 10 minutes if that.
This is the file you would need to flash the stock tar file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409634 this is what I used then after I just re rooted.

Yes but instead of ODIN you'll use Heimdall. There's a guide in the link below.

I've been in this situation before, you have a bad flash.... you have to odin back to stock redownlaod the rom you installed and try again... the yellow triangle will probably still be there but the phone will boot. i bought a jig to get rid of my yellow triangle (It really bothered me and the jig was like a buck)

Yes that guide is for rooting but you can flash ROM's with Heimdall too. Just do a Google search for it and you'll see. Either that or find yourself a windows box and ODIN a rooted ROM with clockwork recovery and then restore your backup.

Bricked?

Im having some trouble and am wondering if someone could help me out. I came from red's freegs3 R6 rom and I decided to use the super wipe zip found in the op. I followed instructions to the T and when I tried flashing this rom (xquizite) after the superwipe my phone rebooted into the galaxy s 3 screen. It wont move from there. I cant access recovery because it seems that superwipe wipe the recovery too lol.
I boot into odin and all I get is downloading do not turn off target. What is it downloading?
I guess I have to flash a new recovery but I cant access anything on my phone. I'm trying to use the toolkit found in the sticky's but I can't get usb debuggin on to flash the recovery. Can someone help me with steps to get this straightened out.
Its booting into download mode. Install odin onyour pc, download the latest firmware, plug in your phone and go. Theres plenty of tuts on odin and I dont want to mess something up by going from memory.
I dont think superwipe does anything to recovery so not sure what hapoened to you there.
You are not bricked though.

You aren't bricked, I can tell you that. Have you tried to Odin back into stock?
I'm downloading stock rom now. This means I need to reroot right?
Clearly there is a miscommunication on what Odin is. You don't boot into Odin you boot into download mode. Odin is a PC app that you use on your phone while your phone is in download mode. It isn't downloading anything unless Odin is pushing software to it from your PC. It just always says downloading.

Okay thanks for the correction. Yes im in download mode. Is it okay to push any other rom rather than stock thru odin or is odin made only for stock pushes?

If someone makes a tar package....it flashes tar packages to the phone containing modem, system, MDM , data and partitions basically whole stock firmwares I am going to find u a package that is already rooted and ready to go in Odin. If u do it any other way (root) u will have to flash an insecure kernel. So this package will flash the stock firmware and root u from there I suggest flashing recovery right after. I would use twrp.......follow directions carefully here.....download goo manager beta from market then install it open it give it superuser perms. Then hit menu on Ur phone and go to "install open recovery script" this will download recovery (twrp) and install it for u when it says its done just reboot into recovery. IMO twrp way better then cwm and cwm is somehow always linked to imei. Always disappearing ...never heard of any problems with twrp and it does backups and restored quicker.
OK so basically to be on the safe side u need to flash stock recovery on your phone first so the Odin package completes with no problems. This will also be a tar.
Then u will flash the stock ROM tar
After that Is complete u will be rooted and have stock ROM
Now do as I said with the goo managerapp
Here is link for stock ROM with root included...thank Mr.Robinson

So download the Odin program I linked u then download the stock recovery tar. Put your phone into download mode...pull battery out put back in hold vol down home and power. Then when it tells u warning blah blah just hit up. Now connect to PC and start Odin. U should see on left side it should say "added" that means your connected. Now hit PDA find stock recovery flash it. When that's done and it reboots go back into DL mode. Now DL the rooted stock ROM package and extract it to your desktop when it is done being downloaded. Now repeat process hook to PC hit PDA find stock ROM tar on your desktop flash it make sure u don't hit anything else in Odin just PDA! Leave everything else as is. Now that should take around 8 min to flash when that is done u should be running newest ota uvalh2 rooted. Boot up and do the goo manager steps I told u to get recovery or u could use ROM manager for cwm but I do not recommend it with this phone. Good luck and don't use the super wipe anymore .....for your sake

As for the other guy telling me im not ready to flash anything. Thanks for the positive reinforcement and for your help you really did contribute SOO much to my problem.
I remember superwipe doing this when I owned the g2 it always messes my recovery.
I thought I remembered you from the G2 forums. Glad you got your phone fixed. I'm still trying to figure this phone out. Odin stuff is weird to me. I'm used to flashing. I will admit, rooting the g2 was way harder.

I actually wouldn't recommend using superwipe since it wipes your internal sd card.
Sometimes its best to do a full wipe. Especially if you are having problems.

[Q] Possible bricking. Recovery methods and alternatives?

Much like the others here I rooted my T-mobile galaxy s3. The root worked fine and all. Then I downloaded this font changer app (I forget the name but it required a root) I go on to select a font then I go on to reboot like it said. Then bam, my phone gets stuck on the samsung screen. I then proceeded to use odin to put the stock image back on it (I think that's what it's called) It went through. I also did the factory wipe via the recovery screen. But now my phone would turn on, show "Samsung Galaxy S3," go to a black screen, play the t-mobile jingle, and the only thing that happens is the LED flashes but still nothing on the screen. I've tried virtually everything and I still think there is something else I need to do.
Help please?
I had a similar problem, this is what I did. Try and boot into cwr by hilding the vol up +power+home when it vibrates let go. Now u should b in cwr. Now wipe everything, dalvic, factory wipe fix permission. And flash a new rom cm10 will do..

The problem is that he may be rooted but doesn't have cwm recovery.
If that's the case then you need to flash cwm recovery first.
I would also try flashing stock rom again or after flashing cwr download nandroid backup of stock rom.
Good luck and let us know if that worked

That sounds like a reasonable solution. Can I get a link to the CWM recovery file as well as a guide to it so I don't dig myself into a deeper hole? lol
Actually if you're stock recovery, factory reset should wipe everything. Including internal sd, just so you know.
If that doesn't work it'd probably be cleaner to just odin the root66 fw. But if you prefer the other way, you can find recovery files at the top of post 2 in the fw thread. Root66 is at the top of post 1.
I still need to add a few recoveries so if you don't see one you want let me know.

Hey guys,
Was trying to root my stock T-Mobile Galaxy S3, and everything was going fine but after it rebooted from Odin, the screen stayed black, and only the blue LED was pulsing. I assume it has something to do with my phone being on 4.1.1 and the S3 toolkit not liking that. I tried to flash the stock Rom to get it out of this, but now the same thing is still happening. I have tried multiple cache wipes/factory resets and multiple other stock ROMs. I always without fail get the same thing Samsung splash screen/Blue pulsing LED/start up sound and black screen. I'm getting really frustrated and worried. Can anyone help?

That's actually the exact problem I just solved. You would need Odin 3.04 (well that's what I used) and you need to flash root66 like one of the previous posters here said. It recovered my phone AND rooted it. So try that and tell us what happened.

When I try the root66 it fails in odin. I used the root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA one. First, I had toolkit convert it into a .tar. Then I chose option 8 to flash a stock rom. I skipped ahead to flashing the rom and factory reset like it prompted. Then I tried to flash the .tar and it fails. ..:/. I don't know what else to do.

Actualy I don't use toolkit so I might be wrong, but I don't think you need to convert root66 to tar. Just skip the toolkit. Put your phone into download mode, open odin, connect your phone to pc and flash root66. Check root66 thread for some info about unziping it or converting to anything. All info should be in op. If there is nothing about it then flash it as it is. Make sure that you have phone drivers installed and turn off kies.
I hope it helps.

I've just checked root66 thread. You don't have to convert it or unzip it. Just flash as it is. Your problem might came from converting that file to tar.

Unzip the fw using 7zip. Then odin flash the .tar.md5 file you just extracted.

Don't use toolkit for that just go to root66 thread. Download everything what you need from there and follow steps in 2 post under odin use.
Good luck

Actualy I don't use toolkit so I might be wrong, but I don't think you need to convert root66 to tar. Just skip the toolkit. Put your phone into download mode, open odin, connect your phone to pc and flash root66. Check root66 thread for some info about unziping it or converting to anything. All info should be in op. If there is nothing about it then flash it as it is. Make sure that you have phone drivers installed and turn off kies.
I hope it helps.

Actually I was a bit wrong, like DocHoliday wrote, you just have to unzip it and use tar.md5 file inside. The rest is as I wrote before.
Good luck and let us know how it went

Did the same thing
I did the same thing. I used the toolkit and was distracted by my son which ended up in me skipping over areas I thought I read and missed the part about JellyBean creating soft-brick.. It did install CWM though . Low and behold, I soft-bricked my phone with the pulsing blue LED from HELL. I kept having issues flashing everything, luckily the toolkit DID install CWM for me which was of no help. When I used Odin 3.0.4 it worked flawlessly with the stock rooted t999 rom which I have attached along with Odin 3.0.4.
Here is how to fix your soft-brick with the black screen and blue LED from hell:
1.) Download files attached and EXTRACT > root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.7z AND Odin_3.0.4_Files.zip
2.) Boot into download updates screen by pressing and holding Home Button, Volume Down Button, and Power Button at same time until you boot into downloading updates screen.
3.) Plug in your phone to your pc
4.) Open Odin 3.0.4 make sure Auto Reboot and F . Reset Time are checked
5.) Click the PDA button at the right, select boot-stock-tmobile-sgh-t999
7.) Click the START button.
8.) Repeat Steps 2-4
9.) Click the PDA button at the right, select root66_TMO_T999UVDLJA.tar.md5
10.) Click the START button and you should see it install things you never saw before like BOOT, SYSTEM, MODEM, etc. (not in that order) at the top left where it shows installation progress (that little green rectangle)

[Q] Root question

Okay so my dumbass rooted my phone and didn't select a recovery menu >_> wasn't planning on installing anything because everytime i have my phone ends up running crappy even after going back to stock. anyway i just found out that there is a multi window mod but i have to flash it and a rom (Thanks to the guys who made them) do i have to flash to stock then go and re root or can i just run the root program again and this time select a recovery?
You didn't puy any recovery on? So that means you still have the stock one? If not I would say to go through ODIN and flash the phone back to stock, then re-root with TWRP. One of the devs here have a 1 click exe to recover stock through ODIN (saved my ass last night when I wiped the rom AND my recovery folder )

Oh god lol Can you link me to that real fast im helping my sister or would track it down. I didn't flash a recovery because i wasn't going to use a rom but found i need to have a recovery to flash the multiwindow mod... I guess back to stock i go even tho i'm already rooted bahaha
I did this last night.

Download the exe. Put the phone in ODIN. Once the exe is running, plug in the USB and his start. About 20 minutes and you'll have a clean, stock rom on there. You'll need to re-root once done.

I'm rooted and running stock right now. Waiting for something that works across the board for me. But I do like to try everything that comes out Also apps like Lucky Patcher need it and I installed the DPS audio manager.
Of course, as soon as CM10 starts rocking the BT streaming I'll be a downloading.
When I first rooted for some reason I couldnt get a custom recovery to stick. I tried multiple times with no luck so eventually I just downloaded goo manager and installed custom recovery script that way. Worked like a charm. Maybe you should try that. Would save a lot of time and effort.

That's because the file on stock roms called /system/recovery-from-boot.p will re-install the stock recovery at every boot. So the trick is to boot straight into recovery and delete that file. Or, flash the Superuser.zip in recovery, boot Android, use an app to delete /system/recovery-from-boot.p, then flash a custom recovery again and you'll be fine.

Failed Root Attempt On Previously Unrooted I317UCALK7 - Bricked?

I wanted to try an AKOP ROM or two on my completely stock, never rooted Note 2 running the OTA UCALK7 update. I followed the guide here (flash the SU injected stock UCALJ2 image) to root and now my note gets stuck at the Samsung logo. I have tried the following:
Downloaded the completely stock UCALJ2 unrooted image and flashed via ODIN.
Tried flashing both stock and rooted ROMs on another computer using the stock USB cable.
Flashed CWM touch via ODIN after flashing rooted UCALJ2 image, it can boot to CWM but fails miserably most likely to the lack of root.
My guess is it's bricked because sammy closed the root hole in the UCALK7 update and flashing back to rooted UCALJ2 isn't enough to bypass the patched exploit. Is there an ODIN flashable complete UCALK7 image that I can try (I've looked to no end, all I can find are rooted zips flashable via CWM) or am I really up the creek?
Pull the battery.
Hold the Center Home Button + Vol Down + Power
Slide the battery in.
If you do this right you can get into odin before the Samsung logo. I just had the same problem because I flashed the wrong recovery. It worked for me.

Thanks but I can get into Odin and flash the stock ROM just fine. It then reboots and gets stuck at the Samsung logo.

Thanks - I actually figured that part out since my second post. The phone boots after the factory reset however I don't get phone/data service. I've since tried flashing the two AT&T modems I could find, atti317ucalj2modemfixed.zip and ATT K7 Modem - Baseband.zip. Neither resolve the issue.

Thanks but I can't even enter the network configuration settings - it tells me to insert a SIM. My SIM is in the phone.
I'm having other problems too which I think are partition related. Apps are acting funny, saying there isn't space on the phone (dropbox can't download anything, etc). I'm trying to get TriangleAway installed so I can just RMA it but I can't even download it to my phone. Also a CWM fix permissions fails even though I grant it root access.
It's really simple..download firmware from Sammobile.com flash it in Odin.. u might get stuck on the Samsung screen, if that happens factory reset. Make sure your downloading right file...u r now messing with Odin and it doesn't forgive

I know what you're saying, I'm definitely using the right file and process. I'm a pretty seasoned veteran when it comes to rooting/odin/RSD/fastboot, etc. I've run custom ROMs on dozens of phones since the G1. What's happening to me is apparently not a common failure with the note 2 or GS3. Is there a PIT file available for the AT&T Note 2? I see one for the Verizon Note 2 but I wouldn't dare try to flash that.
There is a pit file around but I really don't think it's that.
And also just checking don't mean to insult ur intelligence but if u are using Odin it will be a .tar, if it's a recovery its I .zip

Yeah, it's a tar file I'm flashing through Odin, got it from SamsungUpdates: Samsung-Updates.com-SGH-I317_ATT_1_20121005095854_bpaaavv07o.
I also tried flashing the stock ROM in deodex'd zip form after I got a custom recovery on there, still no dice. The non-functioning modem and lack of proper root/storage affects both Sammy and CM/AKOP based ROMs. I don't know about the modem part but I've seen weird things like this when the NAND starts going bad and things written to it don't "stick." I don't think that's the case here since it's only on its 4th or 5th flash. More than likely the latter problem is a file system issue. I have no idea about the radio.
I'm going to try and exchange it tomorrow. At least I got the flash count cleared and I'm back on a stock ROM (with the same problems).
